| "Just doing my daily quiz" |
Colin, with his Father Christmas hat, is looking at his phone in the shop and when Tom and Gaynor come in, he tells them that he is just finishing his daily quiz;
![]() |
| "My personal best!" |
he is very pleased to see that he has scored 4 out of 10, which is his personal best.
Then he asks how they are; “Very well, thanks,” says Gaynor, “A lot better than last week,” and Colin is pleased to see her smiling again.
![]() |
| "I'm lucky to have both of you" |
She says she is very lucky to have both of them.
![]() |
| "Do you have any empty boxes, Colin?" |
Then Ffion happens to come into the shop to ask Colin if he has any empty boxes; he says if she comes back around lunchtime, he will have sorted the deliveries by then.
![]() |
| "It's a shame you can't be with us" |
“It’s a shame you can’t be with us for the big day,” he goes on.
![]() |
| "I'm sure you'll have a day to remember" |
As she looks at Tom, Ffion says she is sure that they will have a day to remember, although Tom does not look as if he agrees.
![]() |
| "A few hush-hush things to discuss" |
Colin now has to discuss a few hush-hush things with Tom, so Gaynor wants to know what they are.
“I can’t say, because they’re hush-hush – but you will be delighted,” Colin promises.
![]() |
| "I'll leave you alone, then" |
She will leave them alone, in that case.
![]() |
| "About this snow . . ." |
Beckoning Tom to one side, he confides, “About this snow – I found a company in Cross Hands, of all places – you’ll love the name – Snow Business! The catch is that they want £500 for the day.”
![]() |
| "No problem, Colin" |
Tom maintains that there is no problem there, but there is one other thing; here Colin lowers his voice to whisper, “Elin Fflur – we are asking her to come down all the way from Anglesey on Christmas Day – and she wants to bring a guitarist with her – one of these session musicians . . .”
![]() |
| Tom cannot resist looking at Ffion |
Tom is not paying attention, but rather watching Ffion as she walks around the shop. Colin writes down the price and shows it to Tom; “What do you say?”
![]() |
| "That's fine" |
Tom simply shrugs and replies that it is fine; Colin cannot wait to meet her.
![]() |
| Tom ignores Ffion on his way out |
Ffion is surprised that Tom walks out of the shop without speaking to her.
![]() |
| "I don't know why you think I need a new apron" |
As Ieuan comes downstairs, Anita tells him, “I don’t know why you think I need another apron because I’ve got plenty already, but there we are, thanks anyway.”
![]() |
| "That's not your apron, Anita . . " |
He looks puzzled, then realises that it is not her apron, but it is Siwsi’s Secret Santa present;
![]() |
| ". . . it's got Siwsi's name on it" |
“It’s got her name on it.”
He invites Anita to sit down and she is very upset; “APD’s Christmas party is taking place today and we all bought presents for each other.
![]() |
| "You helped me choose it" |
I’ve bought Siwsi an apron – don’t you remember? You helped me choose it.”

![]() |
| "Mathew has been so good to me" |
“I just got confused for a moment, that’s all. It will be nice to see everyone. Mathew has been so good to me, hasn’t he? He worked hard on all the arrangements – I don’t want to let him down. Please can we go?”
![]() |
| "All right, then" |
Ieuan agrees, but then she remembers something else;
![]() |
| Today we tell them the news" |
“Today is the day we’re going to tell them the news, isn't it?” Ieuan confirms this, if she is sure about it; she answers that she is.
![]() |
| Tom is back at Deri Fawr again |
It has not taken Tom very long to turn up at Deri Fawr; “Sorry about earlier,” he tells Ffion, “I wouldn’t have chosen to discuss the wedding arrangements in front of you.”
![]() |
| "Why are you still going ahead?" |
Ffion still cannot understand why he is going ahead with the wedding, maintaining that it is time to tell Gaynor the truth. “You know it will be more difficult the longer you leave it.”
![]() |
| "I'm not going to tell her the truth . . ." |
“Listen, I’m not going to tell her the truth,” he declares,
![]() |
| ". . . this is over!" |
“This is over!”

| "Right, I'm so sorry" |

![]() |
| "Why don't you come with me?" |
Kath invites him to accompany her to London, but he is not able to do that, as he has too much on at the moment.
![]() |
| "Keep an eye on Cassie for me, will you?" |
“As you’re staying here, keep an eye on Cassie for me, will you?” He wonders why this is necessary and she explains, “She’s obsessed with stopping Tom’s and Gaynor’s wedding – she hasn’t got a sensible reason and Gaynor is getting fed up with her.
![]() |
| "She almost broke the door down last night" |

![]() |
| "I shall forget about it every time it stops" |
but she laughs, “I will forget about it every time the song finishes!”
![]() |
| "Who got me this?" |
The next present is Howard’s; “Who got me this?” he demands,
![]() |
| 'Dating for Dummies" |
displaying the book ‘Dating for Dummies’. He is determined to find out who gave him that.
![]() |
| Now it is Anita's turn |
Then it is Anita’s turn, but she looks rather puzzled when she opens it;
![]() |
| "You can do some drawing as well" |
“You know you’ve enjoyed Jinx’s art this year? You can do some drawing now as well,” but he maintains that it was nothing to do with him.
![]() |
| "I hope he's not having problems with that customer" |
There is now only one present left and that is for Mathew, who they assume must be having problems with that customer.
Howard tops up their glasses,
![]() |
| "It's not fair I can't have alcohol" |
but Anita considers it unfair that she is not allowed to drink alcohol.
![]() |
| "Tomorrow we shall have headaches" |
Siwsi says that Anita will be grateful tomorrow when the other three of them have headaches; she adds that Anita’s hair is gorgeous.

| "You were never going to come with me, were you?" |
At Deri Fawr, Ffion furiously exclaims, “You were never going to come to North Wales with me, were you? You’ve just been saying what I wanted to hear for months!”
![]() |
| 'That's not true" |
He maintains that is not true,
![]() |
| "What's changed since last week" |
so she demands, “What’s changed since last week, then?”
![]() |
| "I've changed my mind" |
He answers that he has changed – he has changed his mind. “Why?” is next anguished question.
![]() |
| "I don't see a future for us any more" |
“I just don’t see a future for us any more,” he says,
![]() |
| "You're not serious?" |
and she cannot believe that he is serious, but he assures her that he is.
![]() |
| "You insisted we were meant to be!" |
“All those times I tried to finish things, you insisted that we were meant to be!” Ffion protests,

| Cassie keeps an eye on him |
Cassie is carefully watching from behind the bar,
![]() |
| "Do you know what? I can't wait" |
as Gaynor continues, “Do you know what? I can’t wait.”
Kath advises Cassie to leave it, but she obviously has no intention of doing that.
Tom proposes that they celebrate properly, with Prosecco; Gaynor is not going to argue with that,
![]() |
| "Bottle of Prosecco, please" |
so he goes across to the bar. “A bottle of Prosecco to go, please, Cassie. We’re celebrating – our last meal out as singletons.”
![]() |
| "What do you want me to say?" |
Cassie growls, “What do you want me to say?”

| "Life would have been so different" |

| "Prosecco for us" |
Tom sits down with Gaynor, declaring, “Prosecco for us,” and looks across to make sure that Cassie is watching.

Mark has gone to the Deri, where Cassie informs him, “Do you know what he said to me earlier? ‘Life would have been a lot easier for everyone if we’d never met.’ Now, is he talking about Cheryl – or am I overthinking things? Look, the way he said it –
