"Hurry up, Arwen!"

Ffion tells Arwen to hurry, or they will be late for school, but she is looking for her iPad;

"You don't need the iPad

“You don’t need the iPad, Arwen!” Ffion shouts, and Jinx urges her to calm down,

"It's over there"

pointing out that it is over on the desk.

"Thanks, Jinx"

“Thanks, Jinx,” says Arwen and adds, to her mother, “Happy now?”

"It looks bad when the head teacher is late"

Ffion protests that it looks bad when the head teacher is late, but Jinx does not say anything.

"I've been mean to you for a long time now!"

Then she apologises that he did not deserve that;  “I’ve been mean to you for a long time now!”

"I hadn't noticed"

He sarcastically replies that he had not noticed.   “Look, I am grateful for everything you do to help, you know –

"I'm a little bit jealous of you two"

“and I’m sorry I’m a little bit jealous of you two.”

“You’re her Mam, Ffion – and that’s never going to change,” her assures her,

"You'll be a Mam without a job if you don't hurry!

“You’ll be a Mam without a job if you don’t hurry.”

Lois is making breakfast . . .

Lois, clad only in a towel, is preparing breakfast for herself

. . . when Rhys walks in

when Rhys walks in, having just returned from a course.   They look at each other for a moment, and he demands what she is doing there.

"Mam said you were on a course"

She wonders the same thing;  “Mam said you were on a course until tomorrow.”

"It finished last night"

He explains that it finished last night, and they had a couple of farewell pints;  he does not seem to have any problem with her garb, although she apologises, explaining that she just wanted a quick breakfast.

"The Dangers of Social Media"

“The Dangers of Social Media was the subject of the course – how about you –

"How long are you staying?"

“how long are you staying?” he asks.   She does not know, to be honest, but she does have a job of sorts;   “Shadowing Iolo today to see what’s what.”

"You – a plumber?"

The thought of her being a plumber makes Rhys laugh, and she accuses him of being sexist.

She is told not to keep the boss waiting

Right, you don’t want to keep the boss waiting, if you want to learn what’s what,” he advises, and looks pleased that she is back after so long.

Dani is thinking

Dani is sitting at the table in the Deri flat, looking thoughtful, when Kelly comes visiting;

"Good Samaritan alert"

“Good Samaritan alert – do you want me to write an article on the shop?   Because I think it’s a brilliant idea – you know, a poke in the eye for fast fashion and all that!”

Dani does not like the idea

Dani reluctantly refuses the offer;  “I don’t think the attention would be good for me,” which Kelly cannot understand,

"Marc thinks it would attract Dylan's gang"

so she elaborates, “OK, Marc thinks this is too much publicity, which would attract the attention of some of Dylan’s gang.

Kelly tells her to stop there;

"Isn't it Marc's job to keep you safe?"

“Isn’t it the job of Marc and the other cops to keep you safe?   Why put your life on hold?   And it’s not because I want to write an article, and all that, right?”

"Right, have you finished?"

Dani waits until she has finished her little rant, then says, “There’s more – do you want a cup of tea?”   Kelly smiles, as Dani explains, “I’m not sure if I carry on with the business.”

"Shortest-lived business plan ever!"

“Wow – shortest-lived business plan ever!” gasps Kelly,

"Hywel's not happy about it"

and Dani goes on that Hywel is not happy about it, thinking that she is disrespecting Sheryl.

Kelly is surprised at that, as it is explained, “He’s councillor, and could make things awkward for me – and if he’s not happy, I doubt that Sheryl would be happy.”

"Not a good situation, Dan"

Kelly’s verdict is that it is not a good situation, and this is echoed by Dani.

Mathew is 'singing' loudly and discordantly

As he loads bags of cement into the van, Mathew is ‘singing’ in his own way, a song praising Wales,

"One choir practice and we have Pavarotti!"

and this is being witnessed by Jason, who remarks, “Have you heard him?   One choir practice and we have Pavarotti!”

He and Eifion laugh at the far from tuneful spectacle,

"I hope you're not laughing about me"

and when Anita comes in, she hopes that they are not laughing about her.   Jason wonders why they would be doing that,

"She and Griffiths are public now!"

and Eifion interrupts, “Oh, haven’t you heard?   She and Griffiths are public now!”

"We were laughing because Mathew can't sing"

Jason informs her that they are laughing because Mathew cannot sing, and he leaves the shop.   Anita asks Eifion, “What’s so funny about Mathew singing?

"He can't be that bad"

“You’ve only had one choir practice – give him a chance – he can’t be that bad.”

Outside, Mathew launches into another verse of his song, which causes her to exclaim, “That’s not him, is it?”

However, he certainly is

and can see with her own eyes that it is, as he vigorously sweeps the yard.

Kelly comes along the street . . .

Kelly comes along the street by the chip shop, hesitates as she passes the salon, then espies Hywel coming out of the alley.

. . . and calls to Hywel

“Hywel!   Right, tell me it’s none of my business, but I’m gutted that Dani is knocking the shop on the head.   I think it’s an amazing idea and I think Sheryl would approve.”

He has no idea what she is talking about

Hywel is at a complete loss to know what she is talking about, and wonders what it has to do with him.

"You disapprove of the  – enterprise"

“Because you disapprove of the – you know – enterprise!”

"I certainly do not disapprove"

He makes it very clear that he does not disapprove,

"You what?"

which confuses Kelly;  “You what?”

"I think it's a good idea – as I told Wilko"

“I think it’s a good idea – I’m sure Sheryl would as well – I said that to Wilko,” he tells her, “Where did she get that idea – I’ll tell her I’m 100% behind it.”

"What time does Esther finish school?"

Kelly advises him not to do that and enquires what time Esther finishes school;

"I'll text you later, Hywel"

she has a idea and will text him later.

"I can't concentrate with that noise"

Anita is finding it impossible to concentrate with the noise that Mathew is making;  “You either need to invest in good earplugs, or break his heart with the truth,” Eifion tells her.

"I've just come over from Llanarthur . . . "

Griffiths comes in, carrying a small bag, and asks if Anita has eaten;  “I’ve just come over from Llanarthur –

". . . .I thought I'd bring some baguettes"

“I thought I’d bring some baguettes – Brie and cranberry.”   Eifion wonders if there are any for him, but is ignored.   Anita describes Ieuan as very thoughtful.

"You don't want a gooseberry here"

“I don’t know about cranberries, but you don’t want a gooseberry here,” Eifion comments and goes outside.

"Peace, perfect peace"

Ieuan is pleased that they have perfect peace;

But then Jason comes back

that is immediately shattered by Jason coming back in.

“It’s like a revolving door here!” groans Griffiths, and Jason is pleased to see that he is feeding the staff.   “Some of the staff,” is the reply, and he wishes Jason good luck with the new contract.

"It's nice to have friends who look after you"

“It’s nice to have friends who look after you.”

Jason has not yet 'cottoned on'

Jason looks puzzled, as Anita is told to hurry up;  Ieuan cannot stay long.   “Yes, come on, Anita – eat your baguette,” says Jason.

"You've got a big mouth, haven't you?"

“Oh, you’ve got a big mouth, haven’t you?” she complains.

"Why are we here?"

Hywel is waiting down by the garage with Esther (the first time we have seen her for ages).   Dani has been summoned to see him, but Hywel wonders why they are there – he cannot understand what is going on.

"I'm sorry if closing the salon upsets you"

“I can’t stay long – I’m sorry if closing the salon upsets you,” she begins, and he says that Kelly mentioned that she did not want to do it because of him.   “I’m not quite sure what I’m going to do,” Dani continues,

"I think it's an excellent idea"

but he emphasises that he thinks it is an excellent idea, and believes that Sheryl would agree with him.

"Thanks for coming"

Kelly comes round the corner and thanks them for coming;  “You want an explanation –

"Kickstart the business with a photo shoot"

“I thought we could kickstart the business with a photo shoot.”

"What does this have to do with Esther?"

Hywel cannot see what this has to do with Esther,

"She's the main model!"

so Kelly goes on, “Think about it, Hywel – youre standing next to the main model.”

"Are you up for it, Esther?"

Kelly asks Esther if she is up for it,

"Yeah!"

and she enthusiastically confirms that she is;

Dani is about to object

Dani is about to object, but is assured by Kelly, “I’m not going to include photos of you in the article –

"I won't include your name either – OK?"

“and I won’t include your name, either – OK?”

Dani’s sceptical look softens somewhat, and Kelly asks, “Happy days?”

The shop is now back on

Dani agrees that the shop is now back on,

The main model will need something to model

and Kelly will need some clothes for the main model to actually model.

"Hard day with the valves and spanners?"

When she arrives back from work, Rhys presents Lois with a cup of tea, asking, “Have you had a hard day with valves and spanners?”

"I think Iolo was pretty impressed"

She has enjoyed it, and thinks that Iolo was pretty impressed as well.

"I think I had enough last night"

“We should celebrate your first day as a plumber with something stronger, but I think I had enough last night,” he says.

"You don't look half as rough as you did in Thailand"

She remarks that he does not look half as rough as he did when they were travelling together;

"Yo couldn't face the sea travel"

“Thailand, Rhys – Ko Muk – you remember!   We missed our boats because you couldn’t face the sea travel.”   He protests that it gave her time to see the Emerald Cave.

"I don't think hangovers are meant to feel like this!"

She imitates his words at the time, “Oh Lois, I don’t think hangovers are meant to feel like this!” but he maintains that he had food poisoning as well.

"They were good days"

Nevertheless, he regards them as good days.

"How many times had Huw gone round the world?"

“We’ve got a long way to go to catch up with Huw [White – Siôns youngest son] – how many times has he been round the world?” Lois asks, but Rhys points out that is a bit different for him, as he had no choice but to keep moving if he wanted to escape that cult.

"Did he do it because of me?"

Lois still worries that he did what he did because of her,

"It was his life and his choice"

but Rhys takes her hand and reminds her that it was Huw’s life and his choice.

Jinx comes back

When Jinx comes back to Cysgod y Glyn,

"We've got good news, haven't we, Arwen?"

Ffion tells him, “We’ve got some good news, haven’t we, Arwen?”   Her daughter, who is busy studying the iPad, says nothing,

"She's been selected to have a trial"

so Ffion continues, “Miss Reynolds, the PE teacher, has said Arwen’s been selected from the girls’ football team to have a trial with the county.

"You've done fantastic, Jinx!"

“I had no idea you’d been training so much – you’ve done fantastic, Jinx!”

He puts it down to natural talent and Ffion expresses how proud she is of her daughter;

"I don't want to play for the county or the school"

Jinx thought that Arwen would have been happier, and asks what is wrong.   “I don’t want to play for the county or the school,” she moans,

"Football is for plebs!

“Football is for plebs!” and she marches out of the room,

Ffion is taken by surprise

leaving both Jinx and Ffion looking confused.

Jason arrives home

Jason arrives home at Bryntirion, and Anita tells him,

"Ieuan only helped a little bit"

“Before you say anything, he only helped a little bit.”

Jason points out that he has got to know Griffiths pretty well, and knows when he is lying;

"You know when he's lying – his lips move!"

“Do you know how to tell?   His lips move!”   Anita says that it does not matter if he helped with the application from,

"No-one has been hurt"

because no-one has been hurt.

Jason disagrees;  “Really?   What about the company’s good name, Anita?   What if someone finds out?   It’s fraud!”   Of course, Anita is confident that nobody will find out.

"All those big mouths in Cwmderi?"

“Oh no?   In a small village like Cwmderi, with all those big mouths?” he demands.

"He knows how these things work"

“Ieuan didn’t write anything that I wouldn’t have,” she maintains, “He just has a better understanding of how these things work.”   Jason suggests that he knows which pockets to fill with backhanders.

"We need the work!"

Anita is becoming angry;  “He’s a good friend – he has done me and the company a favour – we need the work!   And if we do good job, we’ll get more as a result – or would you prefer competing for little jobs here and there –

"Until APD goes bust in a couple of years"

“until APD goes bust in a couple of years?”

"She was only selected because she's the head's daughter"

Jinx has been talking to Arwen, and reports his findings to Ffion;  “She’s worried that the other kids will say she was only selected because she’s the head’s daughter.”

"That doesn't make sense"

Ffion replies that it does not make sense;  “Miss Reynolds said that she was clearly the best.”

"It's going to have an effect on her"

Jinx does sympathise with Arwen;  now that her mother is head teacher, it is going to have an effect on her.   “What do you expect me to do – resign?” Ffion rages,

"Now you're overreacting, Ffion"

but he accuses her of overreacting.

"And you voice your opinion a bit too often!"

“And you voice your opinion a bit too often!” she snarls, “As you said, I’m her mother –

"I know how to deal with this!"

“I know how to deal with this!”

"By ignoring the fact she's upset?"

Jinx assumes that it involves doing nothing and ignoring the fact that her daughter is upset;  “You’re her Mam – but she talks to me – all you do is argue.   I’d say my opinion counts for something, don’t you think?”

Ffion ponders on his words

This does indeed make Ffion think.

Dani is uploading photos

Dani is busy, uploading Kelly’s photos to Instagram;  “Don’t worry – I’m not in them,” she reassures Wilko when he comes in.

"Hywel was really supportive"

“I saw Hywel earlier, and he was fine about the idea – more than fine, actually – he was really supportive.”

"I must have misunderstood"

Wilko says that he must have misunderstood,

"You're not meant to misunderstand"

and she wryly comments, “You’re a detective – you’re not meant to misunderstand things.”   He says that he will have to be more careful from now on,

Wilko is worried

but is looking rather troubled.

"Do you miss Izzy?"

Over a glass of wine at Llwyncelyn, Rhys asks if Lois misses Izzy;  she answers that of course she does, but not as much as she thought she would.   “We never saw each other – but I knew that she was there –

"I don't have anyone now"

“I don’t have anyone now.”

"Not a boyfriend or anything?"

He wonders if she has a boyfriend or something, and she says there is no-one special,

"Mrs Llywelyn – what did your Dad have to say?"

unlike what she has heard about him;  “Mrs Llywelyn?   What did your Dad have to say?”

"You really don't want to know!"

He replies that she does not want to know,

She asks about his other conquests

but she continues to enquire who else he has been with.

“I went out for a while with a girl called Luned –

"Sioned a couple of times"

“then I went with Sioned a couple of times,” which does definitely not impress Lois, even though he insists, “She’s changed a lot.”

"Sioned will never change!"

Lois is quite adamant that Sioned will never change;  he maintains, “I know she hurt you, but she’s grown up – we’ve changed since school.   There’s something I’ve been wanting to tell you for a while –

"I want to apologise to you"

“I want to apologise to you for treating what happened between us as a game.”

"We were young at the time"

She protests that they were young at the time;  “You just told me not to feel bad about Huw,” but he insists that what he did was completely different.

"I was at fault and I'm so sorry"

“I was at fault and I’m so sorry,” he says, but she maintains he does not have to apologise,

This is obviously leading up to . . .

then leans across

. . . a kiss, and then . . .

and kisses him.

. . . she also has other intentions

Wasting no time, she takes his hand and leads him, presumably towards the bedroom.
