Lois has been contacted by the Adoption Agency

Lois is on the phone, protesting, “This is nothing to do with me!   I’m so angry!   Thank you for letting me know.”   Rhys comes into the room,

"I'm going to do an 'abs' video"

advising that he is going to do an ‘abs’ video, and warning her not to walk in.   “I’ve just had a call from the Adoption Agency,” she informs him,

"Someone's tried to contact Gwen"

“Someone’s tried to contact Gwen.”

He is shocked and asks if they said who it was;  “What will happen next – will there be an investigation?

"I'm sure they weren't trying to hurt anyone"

“I’m sure whoever made contact wasn’t trying to hurt anyone.”

"Was it you?"

Lois is immediately suspicious;  “Was it you?” she demands

"I haven't spoken to Gwen"

and he replies that he has not spoken to Gwen.   Eventually he admits that he has been in contact with Abbie, her sister,

"Just a couple of texts – nothing major"

but it was just a couple of texts – nothing major.

Lois is furious

“Nothing major!” she shouts, “You didn’t have to let her know about the illness!” but he insists that Lois does not understand.   He did not do anything, but she contacted him.

Gaynor is listening to this heated conversation

“She found a letter to her parents, and tracked me down from there,” he explains, as Gaynor listens to this conversation from across the hall.

"I want a full apology!"

Lois will send an email to the agency;  “Abbie should never have been able to find you through the letter – I want a full apology!”

Rhys goes upstairs

Gaynor makes sure she is out of sight as Rhys turns and goes upstairs.

"I've got something to show you on the laptop"

Dani is vacuuming when Tyler comes in, asking if she is all right;  “Listen, I’ve got something to show you on the laptop,” he says,

"Not now – I'm busy, Tyler"

but she replies that she is busy.   Mark also comes into the room, delivering a package containing Gabriel’s new pyjamas.

"You should really look at this website"

Tyler is very insistent that Dani should look at the laptop,

Mark begins his search

and meanwhile Mark starts searching for the hidden camera.   “There’s this pop-up shop in Carmarthen, right?   They’ve got a really cool website,” Tyler goes on, but Dani is not in the least impressed.

"Look at the way the display their clothes"

“Look at the way they display their clothes,” he continues,

Dani finds Mark holding a potted plant

and when Dani asks Mark what he thinks, he is caught holding a potted plant.

He makes up some story about checking whether it needs watering, which Dani does not believe,

"Thank you, Monty Don"

but she says, “Thank you, Monty Don.   I want to finish the vacuuming, so can you go please – now?”   They leave, with their task not completed.

"Mam, can you help me with this?"

Lois is having problems getting the right words for her e-mail, and asks her mother for help;

"Are you sure you want to get involved?"

“Are you sure you want to get involved?” asks Gaynor, and is told that everything will be handled sensitively.

“The fact that Abbie found Rhys so easily is disgraceful,” Lois argues, but her mother points out that it has happened now, and there is no point writing to complain.   “I want them to know how careless they have been – so can you help me, please?” says Lois,

"You can complain in your sleep, Mam!"

“Of course you can help – you can complain in your sleep!” but Gaynor alleges that she is busy.   “Great, Mam – it’s nice to have your support!” Lois snaps, “I’m asking you for advice and you’re refusing!”

"I wrote to Gwen's family"

Then the truth comes out;  “I wrote to Gwen’s family – it was my letter, OK?”

This makes Lois . . .

Both Lois

. . . and Rhys angry

and Rhys look accusingly at Gaynor.

"Have you finished already?"

Sioned is drinking tea on the sofa when Eileen comes in, surprised that they have finished already.

"We haven't started yet"

Sioned snarls that they have not started yet;  “DJ won’t work his guts out if there’s no future here!   We’ve put our heart and soul into Penrhewl, and for what?   I’d rather start from scratch than work for her.   DJ and I won’t be here much longer – we’re looking for a new farm!   I’m serious.”

"If won't talk sensibly . . ."

Eileen is angry;  “If you won’t talk sensibly, there’s no point talking at all,”

Eileen walks out of the house

and she marches out of the room, carrying a veg box.

"I thought you were fighting for Penrhewl"

DJ was under the impression that Sioned was fighting for Penrhewl.

She imagines that it would be fantastic to have their own farm;

Sioned has her sights set on Deri Fawr

“And I know which one, too – Deri Fawr!”   This makes DJ laugh, as he reminds her it is not for sale.   “No, but I’m sure we could persuade John – he’s not getting any younger.”

"What are you going to use for money?"

DJ wonders what she will use for money.

“If I can get Mam to transfer the shop to me now, I can sell that and put the money towards the farm –

"There is always option B, of course"

“or there is always option B of course – we can carry on working here, with nothing to show for it.”

DJ concedes that it is disappointing, and he is not denying that,

"Well, do something about it, then"

so Sioned encourages him to do something about it.

Jason models his new headgear

Outside APD, Jason, who is sporting new headgear, is asking what has become of their new plumber,

"No – apprentice plumber"

and Iolo reminds him she is only an apprentice plumber.   “But she is good,” Jason adds, “You’ll have competition there – bit of an own goal, Iols!”   He goes inside to find the LR44 battery that Iolo requires.

"He's only pulling your leg"

Eifion, who, unusually, has not made any comment until now, remarks that Jason is only pulling his leg;  “Even if she did start her own business, he wouldn’t dump you for Lois, would he?

"Come out with me for a pint tonight"

“Come out with me for a pint tonight – or I could come over to yours, for a change.   You know – a couple of cans and film.”

"I'm not ready for a relationship "

Iolo makes it clear that he is not ready for a relationship;  “Don’t take this personally, but if Idris Elba walked down the street now, I’d still say no.

"I just need a break after Tyler"

“I just need a break after Tyler – I’m sure you understand that.”

In the Deri, Tyler is furious with the way Mark went about the search of the flat upstairs;  “All right, there’s no need to go on and on about it,” Mark groans, but is told that he was supposed to be discreet.

"And you were supposed to distract her!"

“And you were supposed to distract her!” Mark replies.

“If we can’t find the cameras, we’ll have to find Wilko’s footage – I’m sure Hywel has a key to the house,” Tyler says.

"Yeah – Councillor Llywelyn will give that to us!"

Mark is certain that Councillor Llywelyn will give that to them;  “He adores the DI – and the laptop will have a password.”   Tyler maintains they will have to think of a smarter plan.

"All right, losers?"

Kelly comes into the pub;  “All right, losers?” she greets them, and they appear to have another idea;

"Kelly, we need your help"

Tyler suggests that they need her help.

"Say something, Lois"

Gaynor asks Lois, “Say something, please,”

"I don't know where to start"

but her daughter does not know where to start.

Hywel comes into the house

Gaynor tries to explain, just as Hywel comes in, and Lois wonders if he knew about her mother writing to Gwen’s parents.

“Hywel knew nothing about it,” Gaynor says,

"You didn't go through with that?"

and he is surprised that she went through with the idea.

"You knew she was considering it?"

Lois is now aware that he knew her mother was considering it,

"Well, after she went to the house"

and he answers that it was after Gaynor had gone to the house.

Gaynor confesses that she did go there, but did not go into the house.   Her excuse is that she has lost Izzy, and was concerned that the same thing could happen to Gwen.

Lois is outraged

Lois protests, “Everything was organised, Mam – I’d spoken to the agency.”

"It was the only way I could get peace of mind"

Gaynor wails that the only way she could get some peace of mind was by speaking to the family.   Hywel has noticed Rhys’ phone, wondering where he is, and if he was upset;  “Gaynor, you just can’t let things go!” he growls,

"I was only thinking of Gwen"

and when she alleges that she was thinking of Gwen, he goes on, “You were thinking of yourself!   It didn’t work out with your birth mother, so you went after Gwen!” and he storms out of the house.

Now she is even more shocked

This news comes as a great shock to Lois,

"Gwen was not the only one who was adopted"

and her mother has to admit that Gwen was not the only one who was adopted.

Eileen is in a foul mood

Eileen comes into the Deri and slams down a box on the bar, shouting, “Vegetables!”

Anita can see her distracted state and invites her over to a table;

"Sioned's threatening to move out!"

“Sioned’s fussing about the farm and threatening to move out!” she moans.

"Sioned's like a boomerang"

Anita likens Sioned to a boomerang, which always comes back in the end.

"You don't usually drink on your own"

Eileen comments that Anita does not usually drink in the afternoon on her own, and she admits, “I’ve come here to get a bit of peace from Ieuan,” and, after a pause,

"I suspect he has another woman"

continues, “I suspect he has another woman – all the phone calls, and he’s disappearing all the time.”

"It's hard to believe he can get one woman!"

Eileen finds it hard to believe that Griffiths can get one woman, let alone two.

“It’s just that his mind seems to be elsewhere all the time, you know,” groans Anita, and Eileen imagines that he is working out how to make his next penny, probably,

"He makes me laugh – I like that in a man!"

but Anita insists that there is more to Ieuan than that.   “He’s lovely – he makes me laugh a lot – and I like that in a man!”

"No wonder things didn't work out with Siôn, then!"

“No wonder things didn’t work out with Siôn, then!” Eileen laughs, “You really like him, don’t you?”   Anita maintains that it is Kelly who is making her think like this.

“He’s said that I’m the one for him – there we are, I want to believe him, and I’m very happy,” she sighs.   Eileen will go to get a drink and join her.

Anita reads about Griffiths' exploits . . .

Meanwhile Anita opens the Western Post to find Griffiths’ picture under the headline, ‘Councillor’s spat with construction company Brodyr Ellis Construction’,

. . . and this makes her think

which makes her think.

"Why didn't you tell me, Mam?"

Lois demands, “Why didn’t you tell me?” but her mother maintains that the adoption does not change anything – she is the same person;  “Unfortunately!” remarks Lois,

"I didn't want to complicate things"

and her mother did not want to complicate things.   “But you were still looking for your birth mother,” Lois points out,  and Gaynor reveals that her mother wanted nothing to do with her, which is perfectly understandable.

"I know losing Izzy is a blow, Mam . . ."

Lois has doubts whether her mother is fine about that situation;  “I know losing Izzy is a blow, Mam,

". . . but you can't use other people to replace her"

“but you can’t use other people to replace her – your mother, Gwen – you’re playing with their lives – and my life!   I know putting Gwen up for adoption was the right thing to do, but that doesn’t mean it was easy –

"It won't have been easy for your mother, either"

“and it won’t have been easy for your mother either.   I had learned to live with the loss – I could control it, but now . . . You didn’t stop for a second to think how this would affect me.

“Did you see her when you went to the house?”

"I didn't want to hurt you"

Her mother lies that she did not, insisting that she did not want to hurt Lois, but is told that she has done so.

"You need to learn to love the family you've got!"

“You need to learn to love the family you’ve got before you look for a new one,” and with that she walks out of the room.

Kelly puts her plan into action . . .

Kelly is outside the door of Wilko’s house,

. . . turning on the voice recorder of her phone . . .

and turns on the voice recorder of her phone;

. . . then knocks on the door

she knocks on the door, and when he answers it,

"I need some help"

she apologises for disturbing him, but needs some help.

"Phone 999 or 101, then"

“If you want the police, phone 999 or 101,” he advises.

“The thing is, my mate is worried that her boyfriend is having an affair, and she wants to fix a camera in the bedroom so she can catch him –

"You're the 'go-to' surveillance guy"

“and you’re the ‘go-to’ surveillance guy.”

"Who told you that?"

This puts the DI on his guard, and he wants to know where she heard that;  “A little birdie,” she replies, and after telling her that she is wrong, is about to close the door when she adds,

"It's got to be small, like – you know, tiny"

“I’m sure you know which camera is the best though, right?   It’s got to be small, like – you know, tiny, so that no-one sees it.”

"It tramples over the individual's rights"

“Tell your friend that I don’t recommend it – it tramples over the individual’s rights, he says, “I have to go,” and with that he does close the door.

Not the result she had been hoping for

Kelly is furious at not having progressed the investigation and walks away.

"I had to clear my head"

Lois is lying on the sofa when Rhys returns to the house;  he explains that he had been to clear his head.

"Mam's made such a mess!"

“I don’t know how I’m expected to feel,” she confesses, “Mam’s made such a mess!”

Rhys suggests that perhaps they should thank her for opening the door;

"What would it be like to meet her?"

“I sometimes wonder what it would be like to meet her – it would be on neutral ground the first time.   Buying – I don’t know – smoothies or something – drinking them through straws.   I can’t stop thinking about her.”

"When she was born you had no interest"

“You didn’t want to know when she was born – you had no interest,” she exclaims, but he replies that he was a child himself, but now he knows what he wants.

"Ffion had an abortion without telling me"

He admits that he almost became a father – with Ffion;  “He would be here by now – or her – but she had an abortion without telling me.

"I can change things with Gwen"

“I can’t change that, but I can change things with Gwen.”

"This is Mam's fault – she's got to you!"

Lois is adamant that he cannot do this;  “This is Mam’s fault – she's got to you!”   He is insistent that he is Gwen’s father, and will always be grateful to her family,

"I think I want Gwen back"

but thinks that he wants Gwen back.

Lois is quite incredulous

Lois cannot believe this attitude.

Now Kelly is conducting a search . . .

Now Kelly is in the Deri flat, searching the shelves for the hidden camera while Dani is out of the room;

. . . and thinks she has hit the jackpot

then she spots something, but Dani comes back in.

"I was thinking about buying a cordless Hoover"

“I was thinking about buying a cordless Hoover – but are they worth it?” she demands.

“Dani, I’m not here to talk about Hoovers,” Kelly informs her, “I’m worried about you.”   Dani makes it clear she is not going to let a gang of low-lives ruin her life, and Kelly is not keen on dealers either,

"Your relationship with Marc isn't healthy"

but points out, “Your relationship with Marc isn’t healthy – I know the signs.”

"I know what sort of man he is"

Dani explains that he is just shy and is not half as moody as he looks;  “I know him, Kell, I know what sort of man he is.”

"He's controlling!"

“You don’t, though – he’s controlling,” warns Kelly, and when Dani responds that he is just looking after her, goes on, “That’s exactly what he wants you to think – please, Dan, dump him before things go too far!   You said that he phones and texts all day, every day – not normal!

"Hidden camera – not normal!"

“Hidden camera – not normal!”

"It's a dodgy doggie cam"

Dani laughs at her, explaining that it is merely a doggie cam, so she can keep an eye on Tedi while she is out;  “And actually it doesn’t work properly – the picture is a bit dodgy – just like your theories.

"Throw it in the bin, if you like"

You can throw it in the bin if you like on your way out.

Kelly is crestfallen

Kelly picks up her bag and leaves the flat without another word.

Meanwhile, Wilko is watching this . . .

Next door, this conversation has been recorded by Wilko,

. . . and replays what was said

who is now replaying it

He appears concerned . . .

and looking very serious while doing so.

. . . and plans his next move

He closes the laptop and seems to be planning something.
