"Not so much noise, Mark!"

Mark has brought home Dani from the hospital and she tells him not to make so much noise as the baby is asleep;  he will take up the bags to the flat and then sort out the car seat.   She takes a deep breath and gets out of the car.

"It's perfect for Jinx"

Meanwhile Garry is closing the shutter on the garage as Ieuan Griffiths remarks, “It’s perfect for Jinx – he needs space to make the statue and have some peace to work.”   

"As long as he leaves the place as he found it"

Garry is just anxious that he leaves the place as he found it.    “I’ll have a word with Gwenda in finance about covering your costs,” Griffiths goes on, and Garry will send him the bill.

Then Garry's attention is attracted by Dani

Then Garry notices Dani getting out of the car with her baby;  

"Welcome home, Dani"

he immediately walks over to her and welcomes her home.   She confirms that everything is fine    

Garry makes faces at the baby

and he admires the little fellow.   Dani refuses any help from him, so he walks away.   

Dani makes an interesting find in the car . . .

Dani then notices something in the car which fell from Mark’s pocket – a small, blue notebook, 

. . . and she realises what is going on

and looks at it with interest.

"Everything all right with you, Kelly?"

At Bryntirion, Anita calls to Kelly that she is making a cup of tea;  “Everything all right with you?” she asks, “I haven’t seen you this week.”   

"I have to meet a deadline"

Kelly explains that she has to meet a deadline, 

"You've been seeing so much of Mickey"

and her aunt continues, “Well, you haven’t had a lot of time to work this week, because you’ve been seeing so much of Mickey.”

“Yeah, well, he’s been amazing in helping me set up this toy bank,” Kelly replies, and Anita reminds her that she was particularly asked not to get in touch with him.   

"It's not fair on Jason"

Now people are talking about her, which Anita maintains is not fair on Jason.

"You think I'm cheating on Jason?"

“You what?   Are you all right?   You think I’m cheating on Jason?” shrieks Kelly, and Anita once again instructs her to keep away from Mickey;  if there is nothing going on that is something which will not be difficult.

"What is this?   Some twisted jealousy thing?"

“What is this?   Some twisted jealousy thing now, is it?   

"You've lost the plot, like!"

“You’ve lost the plot, like!” Kelly exclaims, and Anita angrily insists yet again that she should keep away from Mickey.   Kelly walks incredulously out of the room.

"I need to make videos on window cleaning" 

Rhys encounters Tyler out in the street;  “I don’t have time for this!” Rhys snarls, “I need to make videos on window cleaning or plumbing.”   

"You don't 'own' exercise!"

Tyler points out that he does not ‘own’ exercise, 

"But I know how to do it properly!"

but Rhys counters with, “But I know how to do it properly – your videos are dangerous – you can’t even squat properly!”

"There's nothing wrong with my squats"

Tyler of course does not agree with this, so Rhys challenges him, “Start squatting and I’ll show you where you’re going wrong.   You don’t mind doing it online, even though you’re doing it wrong.”

Tyler demonstrates,

and then Rhys shows how it should be done.   

. . . which Ffion finds quite comical

Ffion is coming along the street and is amused to see this performance;  

"Cwmderi's fitness king!"

“I’m just having squatting lessons from Cwmderi’s fitness king,” sneers Tyler and 

"You're sabotaging my business!"

Rhys accuses him of sabotaging the business.

“People’s habits have changed – they prefer to do things online now – it’s time for you to move on,” stresses Tyler, but Rhys simply walks away.   

Ffion's attention is elsewhere

Ffion smiles wryly, and has already noticed that Jinx has been talking to Wilko outside the Deri;  she cannot help gravitating in that direction.

Dani brings the baby upstairs

On the table in the Deri flat are several gift bags;  Dani comes in with the baby and Aled welcomes her;  Mark tells him to be quiet as the baby is sleeping.

"I've bought him loads of presents"

“I’ve bought the baby loads of presents,” says Aled, 

"You've spoiled Hendrix already"

but she tells him he has spoiled Hendrix already.

"I thought you were going to wait to decide"

This attracts Mark’s attention, and he thought she was going to wait for a while to decide;  “It was a toss-up, really, between Hendrix and Caleb – which would you have chosen?”   He is of the opinion that Caleb goes nicely with Seren, 

"You've got another reason, haven't you?"

but she suggests, “But you’ve got a another reason, haven’t you?   You’re the only one who bet on Caleb,” 

She produces his blue book

and she produces the blue book.

Mark is humiliated

Mark’s face falls as she goes on, “Amazingly, you guessed the names on my list – Hendrix, Tommy, Caleb.”   Aled is infuriated that he has been taking bets on the baby’s name, and Dani adds, “Listen to this – loads of people bet on Tommy, loads on Hendrix, but only Mark bet on Caleb!   

"You used my baby to make money, Mark"

“You used my baby to make money.”

He maintains that it was just a bit of fun and that the money was for charity;  “I’m trying not to shout here, Mark,” she says, and he thinks it might be a good idea if he left pretty quickly.

"I've been put off all those names now"

Dani wonders how he found out, and says she has been put off all those names now;  Aled looks suitably guilty.

Jinx keeps his sculptor's studio private

The shutter door of the garage is coming down again, this time operated by Jinx, and he is asked by Griffiths if that will be enough space.   Jinx has already made a start but wants to keep out prying eyes.   

"If you want more pictures of the pony"

“If you want more pictures of the pony, I have plenty on my phone, Griffiths volunteers.   

"What's this about a pony?"

Ffion is approaching as he walks away, and is amused by the thought of a pony;  

"He thinks I'm basing it on his children's pony"

“Griffiths thinks thinks I’ve based the sculpture on his children’s pony,” laughs Jinx, and will not let Ffion see what he has been doing.

"What's the big secret between you and Wilko?"

“Talking of confidential, what was the big secret between you and Wilko?” she goes on, 

"We were talking about football"

and he says they were just talking about football, assuring her that they were not talking about her, if that is what she is thinking.   However, he still considers that she should steer clear of him.

Ffion is very optimistic

“Look, for the first time, I have a chance to start a relationship with someone who knows what it’s like to live with a dependency,” she declares, 

"We both know how things can get messy"

and Jinx points out that they both know how things can get messy with dependency in the mix – if one slides, what happens then?

"But we're both in a good place"

Ffion points out that the difference is, she is in a good place;  “And he is obviously in a stable place too.”   Jinx is anxious that she does not get hurt, but she is quite sure she can look after herself;  he does not share her confidence.

Kelly comes back downstairs

Kelly comes downstairs and confronts Anita;  

"Have you screwed your head back on?"

“Have you cooled down and screwed your head back on?   I know whatever happened between you and Mickey was weird, whatever.”

Anita insists that this is nothing to do with her, 

"If Mickey and I shacked up . . ."

so Kelly continues, “Really?   I think you have to ask yourself, if Mickey and I shacked up, what would your true feelings be?   I’m serious – if it wasn’t for Jason, it’s not an impossible situation that Mickey and I could start dating.   He’s a good catch.”

"Don't talk about him like that!"

Anita furiously urges her not to talk about him like that, but rather to leave things alone.   

"You're jealous – classic you!"

“You’re jealous – classic you!” remarks Kelly, “I’m not going to listen to you, because Mickey’s a decent guy!”

"Shut up!"

In a rage rarely seen, Anita screams at her, “Shut up!   

"You sit down and listen to me!"

“You sit down and listen to me – I mean it!”   Kelly follows her instructions, as she continues, “I don’t want to shout, but you’re not listening to me!”   

"All right, I'm listening"

Kelly assures her that she is listening now.

Anita pauses for a moment, wondering how to put this;  “It’s not my place to tell you, but I don’t have a choice – 

"Mickey Phillips is your father"

“Mickey Phillips is your father.”   

Kelly is lost for words

Kelly cannot believe what she has heard.

Garry brings his 'Welcome Baby' balloon . . .

Garry is approaching the Deri, carrying a ‘Welcome Baby’ balloon, 

. . . and so does Tyler 

when he meets Tyler who is similarly equipped.   

"Ah, you didn't have to, boys!"

Wilko is coming out of his front door at that moment and comments, “Ah, you didn’t have to, boys!”   

"Two wise men"

Garry and Tyler look at each other and go into the Deri, where Cassie is behind the bar, and remarks, “Two wise men.”   

"She could do with five minutes of peace"

She also advises that Dani could do with five minutes’ peace, but they ignore her and go upstairs, 

"And here is wise man number three"

then Mark enters, also with a balloon, but this one is emblazoned ‘Sorry’.   She wonders what he has done.

"Hooks for the bunting"

Hywel arrives at the entrance to the gym, carrying some hooks from APD with which to hang the bunting;  

"I don't know why I'm bothering"

“I don’t know why I’m bothering,” groans Rhys, and his father is sure that the open day will give things a push.

"Who do I think I am, running a gym?"

“Who do I think I am, Dad, running a gym?” Rhys goes on, but his father points out that these last few months have not been easy for anyone.   “And people’s habits have changed,” says Rhys.

"Things are gradually getting back to normal"

“Things are gradually getting back to normal – come on, you’ve worked so hard,” his father encourages him, “I might not say it often enough, but I’m proud of you and what you have done with this place.”

"I'm going to close"

Rhys is not convinced, maintaining that it is time for him to wind it up;  “I don’t think I can give any more – I’m going to close.”

"Are you warm enough in there?"

Tyler asks the baby is he is warm enough in there 

"Would you like a cup of tea, Dan?"

and Garry wants to know if Dani would like a cup of tea, but she would prefer paracetamol and water.   

"Should you be taking paracetamol?"

Tyler doubts that she should take that if she is feeding the baby, and Garry cannot find the tablets, so they start arguing.

“I see that Aled has gone overboard with the presents,” says Tyler 

"Gwern and Seren have been shopping"

with Garry adding that Gwern and Seren have been shopping as well, but he told them not to get too much blue baby stuff.   

"You've got a complicated family"

“You’ve got a complicated family,” Tyler tells the baby.

Garry refers to the most complicated bit;  

"Dylan – 'the elephant in the room'!|

“Dylan – sorry, but someone had to mention ‘the elephant in the room’.   

"Haven't you two got things to do?"

Dani snaps that she does not need this at the moment;  “Haven’t you two got things to do?   Lives to get on with?”   They get the message, but only Tyler leaves the flat.   

"Do you want to watch me feed him, or what?"

Dani looks at Garry, demanding, “Do you want to watch me feed him, or what?” 

Garry makes a hasty exit

so he puts down the tablets on the table and also goes.

Ffion is pestering Wilko again

Ffion is knocking on the door of Wilko’s house;  when he opens it, 

"Would you like some lunch?"

she asks if he would like some lunch, but he replies he has already eaten.  “Actually, I wanted to talk to you – do you mind?   Perhaps you could make us a cup of tea,” she says.

"I've got nothing to make tea"

He answers that he has nothing to make tea, so she would settle for water;  

She has managed to infiltrate the house . . . 

he has little choice but to let her into the house.   

. . . but it has changed completely

She is surprised to see that it is almost devoid of furniture and there is a large punchbag hanging from the ceiling.   “Haven’t you had time to unpack?” she asks, “I was just thinking you haven’t got much stuff here.”   

"Too much stuff can fill the mind"

He agrees that he has not, arguing, “Too much stuff can fill the place and fill the mind – you know?”   She thinks that this confirms her initial impression, 

"My place can drive me mad sometimes"

admitting that her place can drive her mad sometimes, but that is what happens when one has a little girl – stuff just accumulates.

“I never realised this room was so big, to be honest with you,” she says, 

She gives the punchbag a friendly tap . . .

hitting the punchbag, 

. . . which seems to offend him

which he does not seem to appreciate.   

"If this house could talk . . ."

“If this house could talk, I’m sure it would have a lot to say about me,” she continues, “Rhys lived here – and Hywel before him.”

"They are both your exes"

He knows that they are both her exes, but she considers that is a long story for another night;  

"Another night might be nice"

“Another night might be nice – perhaps we could go out to eat somewhere.”   

"I'll go and get that water"

He will go to fetch her that water.

Kelly is stunned by the news

Kelly is sitting, stunned, on the sofa, 

"Your mother will go berserk!"

as Anita tells her, “Your mother’s going to go berserk – she didn’t want me to tell you.   

"She doesn't want him to know"

“She doesn’t want you to go near him – he doesn’t know – and she doesn’t want him to know – she has her reasons.   

Kelly remains silent

He’s not the person you think he is – 

"He's not a 'decent guy'"

“he’s not a ‘decent guy’ and you need to stay away from him!   Please, Kelly, don’t think that this is going to be happy families, OK?”

"All these years"

Kelly, who has been silent until now, sighs, “All these years – I’ve never hassled Mam about who Dad is.   I just accepted he wasn’t around – it was difficult, mind.   

"Now I have a Dad – and I can't say anything?"

“And now I have a Dad who’s not only alive, but he’s actually in my life – and I can’t say anything?”

Anita emphasises that it is not that simple;  “I told you because I want you to cut all contact with him.”

"You're exactly like her!"

Kelly screams, “You’re exactly like her!   That’s what she’d say – keep away from that man!   She didn’t even tell him he had another kid next door!   So no – this isn’t about you – it’s about me, finding out who Dad is, and Dad finding out he’s got another child!”

"Until I've spoken to your mother"

Anita begs her, “Don’t say anything until I’ve spoken to your mother, and your mother talks to you.”   

"It's not something I would blurt out, anyway"

Kelly accepts this, as it is not something she would blurt out anyway, and she hurries upstairs.

"We have to talk – something's happened"

Anita takes her phone and leaves a message for her sister;  “We have to talk – something’s happened.   Phone me, please.”

"It's from Mark, to say sorry"

Aled comes into the Deri flat with some snacks and notices that another balloon has been added;  “It’s from Mark, to say sorry,” Dani informs him, 

"Only you and I knew"

“Because only you and I knew.”   

"I didn't expect him to do that"

Aled apologises, but did not expect Mark to . . .

Dani is tired and she has had enough of them all;  

"Please leave me alone for a while"

“So please, leave me alone for a while – I don’t want to see anyone – 

"I just want to be left alone"

“I just want to be left alone, please.”   

Composes a message with the baby's photo . . .

She picks up the phone and is about to compose a message to Dylan, which consists of a photograph of the baby, 

. . . but we do not see if she sends it

but puts the phone down before sending it.

"You must watch Netflix at least"

Ffion says, “Come off it, you must watch Netflix on your phone at least,” 

"I listen to the radio sometimes"

but Wilko replies that he listens to the radio sometimes, and that is it.   “I might as well be honest with you,” she goes on, “I feel like we have an opportunity to start something, you and me, 

"We both know what it's like to be an alcoholic"

“especially as we both know what it’s like to be an alcoholic, and to be in recovery.”

"I'm not an alcoholic – I choose not to drink!"

He is very concerned about her words;  “I’m not an alcoholic – why on earth would you think that?   I choose not to drink!” 

This makes Ffion feel stupid

and she is extremely embarrassed.   “You don’t think I’m weak, do you?   That I’d let myself become addicted?   I don’t have a weakness, Ffion, do you understand?   My mind is clear.   

"You know nothing about me!"

“You come in here, asking questions, and think you know me – you know nothing about me!”

"You must calm down"

She realises that she does indeed know nothing about him, and makes a hasty exit, advising him to calm down.   

As he pounds the punchbag . . .

As the door slams behind her, he turns and furiously pounds the punch bag. 

. . . he is anything but calm
