At Penrhewl, Eifion is emphasising to Sioned that she is getting a bargain; “A couple of other people have offered more – but as we’re old friends . . .” She wants to know when they will get the bull, and he tells her, “Once the money’s in my account, you can pick it up.”

She is surprised to hear that it is his account; “Why not John’s account? He owns the bull.” Eifion explains that he has opened an account for the farm, so he does not have to bother John.

Eileen comes in and looks suspicious on hearing this; “Do you want this bull, or what?” he demands, “I have to go – things to do!”

She is not looking forward to her meeting with the governors today, but is encouraged by Sioned to keep it all straight in her head. “Say that Gaynor has lost Izzy and that she’s struggling mentally,” Eileen recites.

Sioned prompts her, “And the bad publicity for the school if this gets out – it’s damage limitation, Mam – if they shut the story down now, the school’s reputation will not be tarnished.” She is quite sure that her mother will be able to do this, but Eileen wishes that she did not have to.

Anita comes into the Deri and asks for coffee; “I haven’t seen you for a while,” comments Cassie,

Anita is very concerned about this, but Cassie continues, “They were in here and they were laughing – she was giggling like a schoolgirl. I’m not saying that it means anything. I know you don’t want to tell her the truth, but you’d better tell her he’s her father, in case it goes too far.”

Sioned hurries into the room, and is shocked to see him when she turns round. “What are you doing? You almost gave me a heart attack!” He indicates that he is thirsty, and she snarls, “There’s a hosepipe out the back!”

“After what you did?” she growls. He has already apologised and does not know what else he can do;

Mathew has given up trying to keep up with Eifion’s schemes, and says if John Deri Fawr is stupid enough to trust him, then that is his problem.
“That’s the thing – John’s never there – he’s found a fancy woman half his age in France. Deri Fawr has been an albatross round his neck since his wife died – that’s what I heard, anyway,” says DJ.
