Anita is worried

Anita is looking anxiously out of the window at Bryntirion, 

She sits on the sofa

then she sits down on the sofa;  the back door opens and Jason comes in.   

"Harry Thomas's windows are on his front lawn"

“Right, I’ve left Harri Thomas’s windows on the lawn in front of his house – so I hope this is important,” he says.   He sees the stern look on Anita’s face and demands, “What’s happened?”   

"Mickey is not the man you think he is"

She announces that Mickey is not the man Jason thinks he is.   

"I need a bit more information, Anita"

“I need a bit more information than that, Anita,” he adds.

"He's a rapist, Jason!"

“He’s a rapist, Jason – that’s why I stopped seeing him,” she goes on, 

"He didn't . . ?"

and Jason suspects that Mickey did that to her, 

"No – Amanda, years ago . . ."

but she points out that it was Amanda, and years ago.   Jason asks, “Did he get jailed or what?” but is told that Amanda did not go to the police.

“Well, she should go now, then, shouldn’t she?” he insists, “It doesn’t matter how long ago it happened.”   

" . . .37 years ago"

Anita points out that it does matter because it happened 37 years ago, 

Jason works out what that means

and Jason’s mind is obviously reaching a conclusion.

Mathew encounters Vicky

Vicky is walking along the back street when she meets Mathew;  he immediately notices that she is wearing the necklace, 

"It really suits you"

which he says really suits her.   He wants to pick her brains;  

"A client who's refusing to pay"

“Jason’s having problems with a client who’s refusing to pay – I’m not back at work yet, but I told him I would ask you.”

"I'll pop over later to have a look"

She is busy for an hour, but she could pop over later to have a look at the contract, if he wants, 

"That would be gteat"

and he will be pleased for her to do that.

"That's the last thing Kelly needs"

“That’s the last thing Kelly needs!” growls Jason, as he paces up and down, “After everything that happened with Ed – how are we going to tell her?”   

"She already knows Mickey is her Dad"

Anita reveals that she has already told Kelly that Mickey is her father, because she was afraid they were getting close.

"What?   He fancies her?"

“What?   He fancies her?” demands Jason, and Anita was going to make sure that did not happen.   

"If he's laid one finger on Kelly . . ."

“If he’s laid one finger on Kelly, I’ll kill him!” Jason declares, but Anita is certain that will not happen now.

"I'll tell her what kind of pig he is!"

He is determined to go and find Kelly to tell her what kind of pig her father is, but Anita begs him not to do so, 

"No, Jason – she won't be able to cope with that!"

as she would not be able to cope with that.   “How do you know she isn’t with him now, playing happy families?”   He is told that Kelly has gone to work, but he still insists, “She needs to know, Anita – 

"She's got a right to know"

“more than that, she’s got a right to know!”   He marches out of the back door.

Britt has sustained an injury

As Rhys is in the back street, Britt comes limping out of the alley in some pain, and has to lean on a bin to avoid falling down.   

"Do I look OK to you?"

“Do I look OK to you?” she snarls at him, “I’m doing Tyler’s workout – I was supposed to run round the block and do a ‘glute bridge’.”   She cries out with the pain in her leg, 

This os working to Rhys' advantage

but Rhys grins with satisfaction.

Garry has installed a chaging point

Garry fixes a sign to the wall, outside what used to be the garage, reading ‘Tap Trydan’ [Electric Tap] as Mark is approaching.   

"I thought you were too much of a petrol-head"

“I thought you were too much of a petrol-head to buy an electric car,” Mark quips, but Garry regards this as an investment for the village and for the future.

"They must have somewhere to charge them"

“People won’t buy electric cars if they don’t have anywhere to charge them,” he explains, 

"You'll be an electric car dealer?"

and Mark assumes that he is becoming an electric car dealer.   “One day, hopefully – in the meantime . . .”   

"There must have been a grant available"

Mark is certain that there must have been a grant available, quite aware that Garry would not do it out of the goodness of his heart, 

"I do get a cut of the sales"

and Garry admits that he gets a cut of the sales;  “And from the people who have electric cars in the valley,” Mark realises.   Garry says that this is only the start, as he is about to close a deal on something special.

Ffion is frantically tidying

Jinx finds Ffion in a furious temper as she flings various kitchen utensils into black sacks;  

"I need a proper clear out"

“I need a proper clear out,” she tells him, 

"What's going on, Ffion?"

and he wants to know what is going on.   

"He's not an alcoholic"

“He’s not an alcoholic – Wilko – you’d think I accused him of being a mass murderer or serial killer – it’s an illness, not something you catch!   

"He made me feel like the lowest of the low"

“He just made me feel like the lowest of the low,” she groans, 

She sinks into a chair

as she sinks into a chair behind the black sacks.

"Look what you've accomplished"

Jinx assures her that is not true;  “Look at what you’ve accomplished – you’re a good mother, you’ve got a good job, a cosy home – and now you’ve got the cleanest cupboards and drawers!   Don’t listen to that idiot!”

"An idiot I would have enjoyed spending time with"

“Yes, but I thought he was an idiot I would have enjoyed spending time with,” she sighs, “I thought we understood each other.”   

Jinx points out that there is a lesson there – never trust anyone who runs ultra marathons;  

"Honestly, they're no all there!"

“Honestly, they’re not all there.   Right, I will make us a cup of tea and then I’ll help you take this stuff to the recycling centre.”

Garry is haggling

At number 7, Garry is on the phone, negotiating a deal;  “Look, take £500 off, and I’ll take three off your hands today,” he offers, as there is a repeated banging on the door.   

"You can't afford to refuse cash up front"

“At the end of the month like this, you can’t afford to refuse cash upfront,” Garry continues, and his proposal is accepted.

"Where's Tyler?"

Then he answers the door and finds that it is Rhys, who wants to speak to Tyler;  Garry shouts for him.   

"You've broken Britt!"

Rhys takes delight in informing him, “You’ve broken Britt!”   

"I heard something go 'pop', Ty"

She has just hobbled in and collapses into a chair;  “I heard something go ‘pop’, Ty,” she complains, and Rhys is quick to point out that she was following his plan;  

"I'm sure Tyler will be able to help you"

he is sure that Tyler will be able to help her and will leave them to it.   

"Can you sort it out for me?"

“Can you sort it out for me?   I’ve got a long shift tonight,” Britt tells Tyler.   

Tyler is out of his depth now

He is at a loss to know what to do.

"Derwyn Parry doesn't have a leg to stand on"

Up in the shop flat, Vicky explains to Mathew, “Derwyn Parry doesn’t have a leg to stand on – it says so in this clause.”   Mathew knew that she was clever, 

"I'm closing early tonight"

and at that moment Colin comes upstairs to warn them he is closing the shop early.   

"The forst week back must be tiring"

Vicky comments that the first week back must be tiring for him, and he suddenly notices the necklace she is wearing.

"Where did you get that?"

“Is that . . . where did you get that?” he asks, and she says that it was a present for Mathew.   

"You've given Izzy's necklace to Vicky?"

“You’ve given Izzy’s necklace to Vicky?” he demands of Mathew, 

Mathew does not say anything

who looks very sheepish, and which comes as a complete surprise to Vicky.

"Jumping into a relationship?"

“What are you doing?   Just shifting your feelings by jumping into a relationship?” Colin rages, 

"There's no relationship, Colin"

as Vicky takes off the necklace and insists there is no relationship.   “So you just accept a necklace from any Tom, Dick – or Mathew?”

She makes a hasty exit

She declares that she would never have accepted it if she knew and apologises, as she picks up her bag and hurriedly leaves the flat.   

"How could you, Mathew?"

“How could you?” asks Colin, “Giving Izzy’s things to your ex – how else should I say it, Math?”

"When Lois came home, it was such a comfort"

He explains that is not how it was in his head;  “Sometimes I can’t live in my own skin, knowing she isn’t here – when Lois came back home, it was such a comfort.   We were reminiscing, like Izzy was still here.   When I was given the necklace back, 

"I couldn't stuff it into a drawer"

“I couldn’t stuff it into a box in a drawer – it needs to be worn!   Seeing Vicky wearing it is nice – it’s as if Izzy is still around.”

"Do you have feelings for Vicky?"

Colin wonders if he has any feelings for Vicky, 

"I don't know, Col"

and Mathew does not know the answer to that.   Colin tells him, “Look, you’re young and you deserve to fall in love – I’m sure some day you’ll find the right person.   

"Be careful you're not hurting everyone else"

“But in the meantime, can you please be careful that you’re not hurting everyone else.”   By now, Colin has become very emotional, so he turns and leaves the flat.   

Mathew looks at the necklace

Mathew picks up the necklace and looks at it.

An electric bike at Maes-y-Deri 

At Maes-y-Deri, where an electric bike is standing, Garry extols the benefits to Mark;  

"You'll fly up the hills!"

“Exercise, fresh air – and you’ll fly up the hills!”   Mark suspects that he has stolen it;  “Is that what you think I am?” Garry demands.

"It does look a bit dodgy"

“I thought that you ran a garage – but now you’re charging non-existent cars and flogging electric bikes – it looks a bit dodgy when you haven’t got a penny to your name,” Mark points out.   

"I got a payday loan"

Garry has obtained a payday loan, 

"You know how dodgy they are!"

and is told, “You know how dodgy they are.”

"I won't have a lecture from Mark Jones, right?"

“I’m not here to be lectured on anything dodgy by Mark Jones, right?” Garry growls, “I’ve invested everything I had left in three of these – unless I shift them quickly, things will turn really dodgy.   The sooner I can shift them, the sooner I can rebuild my life.”

"I'm not a cycling man, Gar"

Mark would like to help him but is not a cycling man;  

"People will want one, guaranteed!"

Garry insists, “You ride this around and people will want to buy one, guaranteed!   It will be the best advert I’ll ever have.   You tell everyone in the Deri how good they are, how green they are and you can’t understand how you’ve ever lived without one – whether you think that or not.”

"Apart from a soaking when it rains"

Mark wants to know what he is going to get out of this;  “Apart from a soaking when it rains.”   

"You get a cut of the profits"

He is told there will be a cut of the profit, which depends on how fast he can move one.

Vicky comes back

The door opens and Vicky comes in, 

"Leave me alone!"

tells Mark to leave her alone and goes straight upstairs.

"Look, I've just run 30k"

At Wilko’s house, he grumbles at his visitor, “Look, I’ve just run 30k, so come back another time.”   Jinx replies that, as it happens, he is happy to do all the talking, so he can do the stretches or whatever he needs to do.   

Not your usual front room furnishings

Jinx looks rather puzzled by the punchbag.

"I don't know what your problem is"

“I don’t know what your problem is or where you’ve been, but you obviously didn’t get the memo – hashtag #benice.   

"Ffion doesn't need an idiot of a bloke like you"

“Ffion doesn’t need an idiot of a bloke like you to make her feel like a failure – 

"The voice in her head is already doing that"

“the voice in her head is already doing that.   So do everyone a favour and go and run to the top of the mountain, and crawl under a rock, before you destroy someone for real!”   

Having had his say, Jinx leaves

Jinx walks out without another word, leaving Wilko thinking seriously about what he said.

Vicky has packed her bags"

Mark is surprised to see that Vicky has packed her bags;  “I’ve booked a train ticket for tomorrow morning,” she informs him, 

"Are you running away from someone?"

and he suspects that she is running away from someone.   

"I'm so stupid, Mark"

“It’s time for me to go anyway – but – I’m so stupid, Mark.   He’s only just lost Izzy and I thought I had half a chance.”   She is not going into details, but has decided not to stick around;  

"It's all right to have mixed feelings'

Mark reassures her that it is all right to have mixed feelings.  “Whatever happened between you today – don’t leave on bad terms.   You’ve been through too much together for that to happen.   

Mark is now going for a spin"

“Right, I’m going for a spin – it’s a long story, but remember what I said.”   He manoeuvres the machine out of the house.

Anita's anxiety has put her off her food

Anita has obviously been put off her food and is waiting for Jason’s return;  when he comes in she immediately asks if he found Kelly.   

"I had to put Harri Thomas's windows in . . ."

“I had to go back and put Harri Thomas’s windows back in, didn’t I?” he replies, 

". . . after sitting outside the Western Post office for an hour"

“After sitting outside the Western Post office for an hour, trying to find the right words.   I still haven’t found them, by the way.”

"I didn't find it easy to tell Kelly"

Anita confesses that she did not find it easy to tell Kelly, 

"That doesn't change anything, Anita"

but he stresses, “That doesn’t change anything, does it, Anita?”   She does not know what to do.

Just completing his hundred press-ups

Wilko is continuing his strenuous exercise regîme, just completing 100 press-ups 

He is still thinking about Ffion 

and then takes a rest, still with the matter of Ffion on his mind.   

He looks at his pen . . .

He goes into the kitchen and sits down, takes a sheet of paper and a pen, 

. . . then begins writing

which he looks at intently, then begins to write.

"Drowning your sorrows?"

In the Deri, Mathew is sitting alone, drinking a pint, when Vicky appears;  “Drowning your sorrows?” she asks, 

"Hiding in the flat is not good for me"

but he answers that he is just looking for company, having realised that hiding in the flat by himself is not good for him.   He offers her a drink but she declines;  “I just wanted to see you because I’m catching the train home in the morning.”

"If this is because of the necklace . . ."

“If this is because of the necklace, I’m sorry for making you feel so awkward,” he says, but she maintains it was time for her to go anyway, 

"I don't think it's helping, me being here"

and she does not believe that her presence is helping him.   He hopes that she will call in the next time she is back;  she will look forward to that.

“But in the meantime, look after yourself, Math,” she says as she leaves.

"How's the patient?"

Rhys, looking very pleased with himself, asks Geraint for a pint, and enquires of Tyler, “How’s the patient?”   

"Fine – no thanks to you"

The reply is that she is fine, no thanks to him.   “Holding fitness sessions is a responsibility,” Rhys emphasises, but Tyler maintains that she did not follow the instructions properly.

"Let's hope she doesn't sue you . . ."

“Let’s just hope she doesn’t sue you,” adds Rhys, 

". . . but that's why we have public liability insurance"

“But that’s why we have public liability insurance, isn’t it?   You do have one, don’t you?”   

Tyler is getting concerned now

Tyler’s expression changes.   

"Serve you right for stealing my business"

“Oh well, serve you right for trying to steal my business.”   

He has definitely 'put the wind up' Tyler 

Tyler is now looking extremely worried.

"There is one simple answer, Anita"

At Bryntirion, as Anita is preparing the meal, Jason says, “There is one simple answer,” 

She had been thinking the same thing

and it appears they both have the same idea at the same time.   

"If I told him I'm willing to go to the police . . ."

“We will go to see Mickey and scare him.   If I told him that I know, and I’m willing to go to the police . . .”

"That would make him disappear"

Anita agrees that would persuade him to disappear quickly, and Jason regards it as the kindest thing for Kelly.   She stresses that they will both be here for her, and Jason puts on his shoes, ready for the journey;  this is a relief for Anita, as she does not think that she would be able to face him.

"I should be in Merthyr by nine"

“Right, if I leave now, I should be in Merthyr by nine at the latest,” he predicts, 

"You can't go tonight"

but Anita protests that he cannot go tonight;  

"The sooner the better – Kelly's working late"

he replies, “The sooner the better – Kelly’s working late tonight.”

"We've got to work out what to say to the swine!"

Anita persuades him to leave it until morning, so they can work out properly exactly what to say to the swine, 

Jason takes off his shoes again

so Jason removes his shoes again and looks concerned.
