Dani is under pressure

Dani is trying to make sense of her invoices, and Dylan offers to make her another coffee, which she refuses;  “That’s the worst thing about running a business,” he says, and is then surprised to see the arrival of Garry, who is carrying a doll.   

"Got a new toy, Garry?"

“Got a new toy, Garry?” Dylan jokes, and is told that he has brought back the doll for Seren, but one arm has become detached.

“I stood on it,” he confesses, “Do you have any glue here, Dani?”   

"I'm trying to count, Garry!"

She moans that she is trying to count, and Dylan explains that it is the VAT.   

Garry is asked if he has replaced Gerwyn 

As Garry searches through drawers, looking for some glue, Dylan asks if he has found someone to replace Gerwyn, and volunteers to put out some feelers, insisting that he is always ready to help.

“I could look after the children this afternoon, if you want,” he goes on, 

"We'll be watching Newcastle's Greatest Goals

but Garry replies that they will be watching a DVD – Newcastle’s greatest goals.   

"That won't last long, then!"

“That won’t last long!” Dylan sneers, “When I moved to Cwmderi and heard people talking about Garry Monk, I thought the former Swans captain lived here.”

"Can you just be quiet?"

Dani explodes, “Can you just be quiet?   I need to finish these by 11 o’clock, and I’ve lost count again!”   Garry finds what he was looking for and prepares to stick the doll back together.

"There's no room for everything, Mam"

Guto has almost finished packing, and complains to his mother that there is no room for everything.   Gerwyn points out that there will be shops out there;  

"We're not going up the Amazon"

“We’re going to Buenos Aires, not up the Amazon.”   Guto agrees that is where they will start, but after that, who knows.

Jaclyn wants to make them a full breakfast

Jaclyn, who is doing the washing up, offers the travellers a full breakfast, but Gerwyn has already eaten with Mark and Kath;  “She was quite tearful, for some reason,” he says, “Where is Tes?”

Guto comments, “Talking of tearful, she was like the Amazon this morning,” and Gerwyn appreciates that she is not good at goodbyes – 

"I don't like goodbyes myself"

neither does he like them himself.   Jaclyn wonders if he is sure about going, and he says that he has a couple of things to do while Guto finishes;  he will be back shortly.

"You must have seen who did this!"

“You must have seen who did this!” snarls Eifion, before tearing down the notice in the shop, asking for a travelling companion.   

People are not taking this seriously

The names of Alun Wyn Jones and Lady Gaga have been written there.   “Do you want to come to Majorca with me, Col?”

"I don't think I'll be allowed anywhere for ages"

Colin, who has been studying the Western Post, rejects the suggestion out of hand;  “No – after the wedding day shenanigans, I don’t think I’ll be allowed anywhere for ages!   

"Have you seen this 'Living with Murderers'?" 

“Have you seen this?”   He points to an article in the paper, entitled, ‘Living with Murderers’, written by Kelly.

“The story’s about her and Ed – and Cassie and Steffan!” he adds, 

Eifion gets himself a copy

and Eifion decides he will have a copy of the paper.

Gerwyn checks the coast is clear

As Gerwyn looks furtively around on the corner opposite the Deri, Sioned is coming along the street and meets Eifion when he comes out of the shop.   “I take it you haven’t found anyone to go on this holiday?” she taunts him, 

"There's no-one I would want to go with"

and he says there is no one who he would want to go with.   “Oh, you’re too fussy – that’s the problem,” she adds, and he suggests that she could come, as they understand each other.

"But we don't like each other!"

“But we don’t like each other!” she points out, “I’d rather stick cocktail sticks in my eyes!” and she walks away.

"Sorry for snapping at you, Dyl"

Dani comes out of the Deri and apologises to Dylan for snapping at him;  

Eifion has an offer Dani cannot refuse . . .

Eifion approaches with a special offer for her.   “Majorca for a week for free – what do you say?”   She demands why she would want to do that, and he lists, “Sun, sea, Sangria.”

. . . but she does refuse quite happily

Dani adds, “And you?   No, thanks!” and hurries off to the accountant’s.   

Gerwyn is outside the garage . . .

As Dylan turns, he catches sight of Gerwyn, hanging around by the fire escape, 

. . . and Dylan is keeping watch on him

outside the garage,

He tosses the garage keys into the bin . . .

then opening the lid of the green bin and tossing the garage keys into it.   

. . . and looks very pleased with himself

He walks away with a smile on his face.

Kelly has some good news

At Llwyncelyn, Sara is reading the article in the Western Post and Kelly is on the phone to the publishers of the paper;  she sounds very happy.   “The Western Post has offered me a weekly column,” she announces, “It’s a big deal!”

"Such personal things every week?"

Sara can appreciate that, “But are you going to write about such personal things every week?” she enquires.   There is a knock at the door, 

Kelly has a visitor . . .

and Kelly finds that it is Cassie, who is in an angry mood.

. . . in the form of an irate Cassie

“What the hell do you think you’re doing – writing about me like that?” she rages, and Kelly points out that she changed the names.   

"Everyone knows who you're referring to!"

“But everyone knows who you’re referring to!”

"But not the general public"

“People who know you, perhaps, but not the general public,” Kelly stresses.   Cassie reminds her it was supposed to be an article about adoption – that is what Kelly said – not a big exposé about her personal life.   

Kelly agrees with this, but says, “Once we started talking . . .”

“I never thought it would find its way into a newspaper,” Cassie growls, 

"I saw the parallels"

and Kelly tries to explain that she saw the parallels;  they have both given a child away, in her case because his father was a murderer.   Then Cassie’s son comes back and turns out to be a murderer, too;  she calls it ‘fascinating’.

Kelly emphasises that she put a lot of her life into the article as well;  

"You had no right to write about me!"

Cassie exclaims, “That was your choice – you had no right – no right, to write about me!”   

"That didn't go very well!"

With that she hurries away.   

Sara manages to stop herself from commenting

Sara is about to comment, but thinks better of it.

The time of departure has arrived

Outside number 10, the taxi has been loaded and the travellers are ready to leave;  “I can’t believe you’re actually going,” says Jaclyn, who cannot help crying, 

"I'm going to miss you, Dad"

and Tesni is in much the same position, going to miss her father.   She begs him not to hug her again, or she will fall to pieces.   Dylan advises them to go, or everyone will be crying.

"I'll phone when we get there"

Guto promises to phone when they arrive at their destination, they get into the taxi, 

"Look after him, Ger!"

with Jaclyn urging Gerwyn to look after their son, 

Their adventure begins

and their journey begins.   As soon as they have departed, 

Dylan hurries to the green bin . . .

Dylan proceeds as a matter of urgency to the green bin, and, checking to make sure no one is watching, 

. . . and retrieves the garage keys

delves inside it for the keys.

Sioned is back from her shopping trip

Eileen picks up the washing basket as Sioned comes back into the farmhouse;  “I’ve been to the village to get a few things – 

"Eifion's still looking for someone"

“Eifion’s still looking for someone to go on that holiday with him,” she says, and her mother predicts that he will be looking for ever, although it would be a shame if the holiday went to waste.

Eileen is anxious to know if he said anything else, 

"You mean about the solar panels?"

and Sioned assumes that she means about the solar panels;  

"We really ought to look at the possibility"

“Don’t you think we ought to at least look at the possibility of having them?” she asks.   

Eileen will not entertain the idea

Eileen makes it clear that she does not have time to discuss the matter, and Sioned suspects that something is the matter.

"Jaclyn – I'm going crazy here!"

Eileen takes her phone and leaves a message for Jaclyn, asking her to come over as soon as possible;  “I’m going crazy here!”

Dani is back from the accountant

Dani is back from the accountant, who was apparently pleased with the figures;  Garry has prepared lunch for them, 

"Who is Mr Nice Guy trying to impress?"

and asks, “Who is Mr Nice Guy trying to impress at the moment – you or me?”   She cannot imagine why he would want to impress Garry, and neither can he, 

"He was here early this morning"

pointedly remarking that he was there early this morning.

There is a cryptic message from Gerwyn 

Garry’s phone sounds and he finds a message from Gerwyn;  “I hope you’ll enjoy the goodbye present for years to come.”   He cannot understand what that could mean, 

"Mr Monk, I have a warrant to search the garage"

but at that moment a police officer walks in, announcing himself as DI James;  he has a warrant to search the garage, 

Garry is puzzled

and would like Garry to accompany him.

"I came as quickly as I could"

Jaclyn has come to the farm as quickly as she could with the boys leaving, and Eileen has been unable to think of anything else.   “You’d I think that idiot would sort out his farm before developing it,” Jaclyn casually mentions, “The place is filthy – it looked in a terrible state when I went there to look for him.”

"Probably let it go after Catrin died"

Eileen assumes that John let the place go after Catherine died, 

"Seeing those dead calves in the yard"

and Jaclyn goes on, “Seeing those dead calves lying in the yard – a couple of them, poor things.”   

"Dead calves?   We're going for a walk"

Eileen immediately gets up and tells Jaclyn they are going for a walk, 

They hurry from the farmhouse

and she will explain on the way.

"What are you looking for?"

The search of the garage is continuing, and Garry maintains that he has a right to know what they are looking for.   

"You won't find anything stronger than Paracetamol"

When informed that it is drugs, he is quite confident, “You won’t find anything stronger than a packet of Paracetamol in there.”   

"We've received information to the contrary"

The DI informs him that they have received information to the contrary.

Garry predicts that they will be there for hours, as there is nothing there;  he is not wasting his time hanging around, 

"Give me a shout when you've finished"

and asks the DI to give him a shout when they have finished.

"A holiday would be just the thing!"

Eifion is still continuing his quest to find a travelling companion, but Iolo points out that he has just had surgery.   “You’re better now – a holiday would be just the thing!” Eifion insists.   

"That's the last thing I want to do"

Iolo is quite clear that it is the last thing he wants to do.   Sioned happens to be passing, 

"You're right – I'm going on my own"

and Eifion snarls, “You’re right – I’m just going on this holiday on my own!”

"I'll have the ticket!"

In a surprise move, she offers to take the ticket;  

"Joke, is it?"

he fully expects that this is a joke, but she says she quite fancies a week in Majorca.   “Send me all the details – the flights and things.”   Eifion will need her passport number, and that she agrees to text it to him later;  

He finds this encouraging

he seems to be under the impression his luck has changed.

Eileen and Jaclyn are waiting for John

Eileen and Jaclyn are waiting at the farmhouse, and thank John when he comes over;  

"You said you'd come to a decision"

“You said you’d come to a decision,” he says, 

"Look in that envelope"

and Eileen directs him to an envelope on the table which she wants him to look inside.   

He does so

Puzzled, he does so, and finds inside a couple of photos of dead calves on his land.

"Eileen says you need to register animal deaths"

“Eileen says that you need to register animal deaths,” Jaclyn tells him, and Eileen knows that he has not done that, neither have most of his cows got ear tags.   “Which means they haven’t been registered either,” adds Jaclyn.

"You're breaking the law!"

“You’re breaking the law!” exclaims Eileen, with obvious relish.   His response is to tear up the photos, 

"What do you want?"

and he demands what they want.   

"Withdraw your plans for solar panels . . ."

“We want you to withdraw your plans for the solar panels – 

". . . and never come close to me again!"

“and if you ever come close to me again, everyone will find out about the state of your farm!”

He looks as if he is about to attack Eileen again, but Jaclyn shouts at him to stop;  

"Look at her, the ugly old witch!"

“Look at her, the ugly old witch!” he shouts.   Eileen reminds him that he did not think she was ugly enough to stop him forcing himself on her.

"And everyone knows about your antics!"

“You were asking for it – and everyone knows about your antics,” he rages, turning on Jaclyn, “Yes, women like you need to be taught a lesson!”

"Out!"

“Out!   Or we’ll phone the police straightaway this time!” Jaclyn threatens him;  without another word, he storms from the house, 

The tension has been relaxed

as both of them heave a sigh of relief.

The police search has been fruitless

The DI returns the keys to Garry in the Deri flat, advising that they have not found anything;  

"I told you, didn't I?"

“I told you, didn’t I?” says Garry, “I’ve never touched drugs, and I don’t intend to – remember that.”   

"Sorry for troubling you"

The officer apologises for troubling him and leaves the flat.

Kelly is taking an interest

Kelly is walking up the middle of the road, taking an interest in the police presence by the Deri;  she meets Cassie by the shop.   

"Looking for another scoop?"

“Are you looking for another scoop?” Cassie demands, but Kelly simply wants to say sorry.

"I got so excited – and I didn't think"

“I was so excited about writing about something interesting – and I didn’t think,” she goes on, 

"You tricked me"

but Cassie accuses her of trickery.   “It was supposed to be an article about adoption, OK, but I just found your story so fascinating.”

Cassie thinks that this is revenge because she did not get the job in the Deri, but Kelly insists she just got carried away with the story.   Cassie snarls, “I thought we understood each other – 

"You're just an unprincipled hack!"

“but you’re just an unprincipled hack!   A word of advice – you’ve got a lot to learn about writing – and life – and respect!”   She walks away,

Kelly is deflated

leaving Kelly feeling rather upset.

Garry has gone to visit Dylan;  “I’ll put the kettle on, if you’ve come round for a cup of tea,” Dylan tells him.

"The police came over to the garage . . ."

Garry enquires, “The police came over to the garage – you heard, 

". . .did you know they were coming?"

“or did you know they were coming over?   

"And I had a strange text from Gerwyn"

“I had a strange text from Gerwyn just before they arrived – do you know anything about that?   They were looking for drugs – probably received a tip-off.”

Dylan produces a green bag . . .

Dylan goes into the kitchen, returning with a green plastic bag which he opens 

. . . containing a lot of drugs

and puts down a bundle of drugs on the table.   

"A quarter of a million quid's-worth"

“Coke, with a street value of about a quarter of a million pounds apparently, hidden in your office – that’s what the police were looking for.”   As Garry sinks into a chair, Dylan adds, “They would have found it, too, if I hadn’t moved it before they arrived.”   Garry wonders how it got there in the first place, and is told that it was Gerwyn.   

"He hid it in the garage and then phoned the police"

Dylan pleads ignorance as to where Gerwyn got hold of such stuff;  “But he hid it in the garage this morning before phoning the police.   I saw him sneak out – I knew he was up to something, but . . . You do know how much prison time you would have got if the police had found it?   Do you want it?”

"You know I don't touch drugs"

“You know I don’t touch drugs,” Garry states, so Dylan agrees to sort it.

"You owe me a favour or two"

“I’ve saved your skin today, haven’t I?   Big time!”   Garry agrees that it looks that way, and Dylan suggests, “So I’d say you owe me a favour or two.”   

Garry makes no comment

Garry leaves the house without another word.
