Jason has burnt the toast

As Jason scrapes his burnt toast, Kelly is becoming disillusioned with her journalist job;  “Do you know what, right?   It’s pants, this proper job malarkey!   

"I've been up since 3:00am"

“I’ve been up since 3:00am, trying to finish a deadline, and now I can’t find my notes on the price of raising kids,” she complains, 

"An arm and a leg doesn't even cover it!"

“And, believe you me, an arm and a leg doesn’t even cover it.”

"Is that why you don't know if you want any?"

“Is that why you don’t know whether you want kids in the future?” Jason asks her, but she replies that it is not that.   

"You don't have to justify anything to me"

He apologises for asking, pointing out that she does not have to justify anything to him.

Kelly tells him, “There’s no point in saying perhaps some time in the future – because I don’t mean it, Jase – 

"I do love you, though"

“I’m so sorry – I do love you, though.”   Then his phone rings again, and Kelly continues the search for her notes.

"I'm sure there's a poltergeist in this house"

“I’m sure there’s a poltergeist in this house, playing tricks on me,” she moans;  Jason has to go and fix Ffion’s tap, and is not sure when he will be back.   

"Jase – are you OK?"

Kelly is anxious about him;  “Jase – are you OK?” and he assures her that he is.

Tesni is trying out her sales technique

Tesni is trying her sales technique on Anita;  “I can offer you a very attractive price,” she says, then hears Siôn shouting from upstairs that he cannot find his blue jumper. 

Then they discover Siôn is still there . . .

Anita calls back to him, “I thought you’d left a while ago,” and meanwhile Tesni is frantically clearing away her cosmetics, as he does not know she is ‘moonlighting’.   

. . . and Tesni quickly packs away her samples

Anita tells her that he has been in a foul temper for several days, and wonders if Tesni knows anything about it;  

"Hurry – you don't want him to catch you"

she of course says she cannot help, and escapes from the house, just in time, as Siôn can be heard coming downstairs. 

"Your jumper's in the wash, Siôn"

Anita informs him that his jumper is in the wash, and comments that he is late this morning;  

"It will do Tesni good to take more responsibility"

“It will do Tesni good to open up and take more responsibility,” he replies, and Anita asks what he wants for dinner tonight.   “You carry on – I’ll sort myself out,” he says as he leaves.

"Can I ask you a personal question?"

As Jason is completing the job on Ffion’s tap, he asks her, “Can I ask you a personal question?”   

"Well, you can ask"

She agrees that he can ask, but she may not answer.   “They say that an only child is a lonely child – have you ever considered giving Arwen a brother or sister?   Sorry – too personal!”

"I don't think my health is good enough"

Ffion answers that she does not think her health is good enough, and wonders why he asked;  “Is Kelly . . ?”   

"Kelly's not ready yet – if ever"

He does not think that Kelly is ready to have children yet – and is not sure if she ever will be.   He respects that, and explains that Sara wants a brother or sister for Ifan.

"It makes sense, with the same father"

“It makes sense, I suppose, with the same father – as you know, I’ve always wanted a lot of children,” he goes on, and this comes as a shock to Ffion.

"Is Kelly happy about this?"

“Wow!   And is Kelly happy about this?” Ffion demands.   

"To say that she's happy is pushing it"

Jason replies that to say that she is happy is pushing it.   “Well, there’s no big rush to decide, is there?” she points out.

"Sara's booked us into the clinic today"

“Sara’s booked us into an IUI [Intra-Uterine Insemination] clinic today – Kelly doesn’t know,” he explains.   

"You've got to tell her, Jason!"

Ffion insists that it is imperative that he tell her, but he remarks that there is no guarantee it will work.

“Jase – I thought you’d stopped gambling!” she exclaims, 

"Who's more important – Sara or Kelly?"

“You need to decide who’s more important here – Sara or Kelly!”

"What was wrong with you last night?"

At Maes-y-Deri, Mark is practising some gaming, and his mother complains, “What was wrong with you last night?   You were shuffling around the place for hours.”   

He says that he has discovered that Andrea likes gaming;  

"She's more perfect every day!"

“She gets more perfect every day!”   He urges Kath not to spoil things for him, 

"Just because you've made a mess of things with Brynmor"

just because she has made a mess of things with Brynmor.

She begs to differ with her son, pointing out, “She’s the one who didn’t turn up for the date!”   Mark reminds her of the blowout with Andrea’s car, and Kath regards that as very convenient, wondering when he is actually going to meet her;  she finds it odd that he has not already done so.

"That could have been anywhere"

“She’s busy at work – you’ve seen pictures of her in Singapore,” he insists, but Kath says that it could have been anywhere.   

Mark displays another photo of Singapore

He shows her another photo, with a Singapore background;  

"Don't spout any more of your nonsense"

“Don’t spout any more of your nonsense!” he snarls, but Kath is far from convinced.

Tyler wants Mark to clean some windows

Then Tyler rings Mark, wanting him to clean Tom Dickens’ windows, as he has to call in to see Iolo.   Mark reluctantly agrees that he will be there in ten minutes, 

"Another hour's practice at lunchtime"

muttering that if he hurries he can get in another hour’s practice at lunchtime.   “I don’t want a hiding from Andrea the first time we play,” he says.

Iolo is cloaked in his dressing gown

Iolo is still in his dressing gown when Tyler arrives at number 7;  

He believes that all is not well

“I scraped the wound, and I’m sure it felt open,” Iolo groans, “I was reaching for something in the cupboard.”   

Tyler will take a look at it and warns Iolo not to get ahead of himself;  

"I hope you're wearing decent boxers!"

“Take that dressing gown off – and I hope you’re wearing decent boxers underneath!”

Jason is witness to . . .

As Jason is loading the van, Sara can be heard shouting at Tesni as she leaves the bookshop;  Tesni pleads with her to come back inside.   

. . . an altercation between Sara and Tesni 

“And stuff your cheap make-up – it’s given me spots!” Sara continues.

Jason wonders why all this shouting is going on;  

"There's no point annoying people"

“There’s no point annoying people without reason – everyone will know our business.   It’s the hormone tablets making you like this, isn’t it?”

"I don't need hormone tablets to argue"

She replies that she does not need hormone tablets to argue with people;  “Anyway, you may as well get used to it – 

"This is how I'm going to be for the next nine months"

“this is how I’m going to be for the next nine months – so everyone will know our business.   

She is ordering Jason about again

“Right, I will pick you up in an hour – don’t be late!”

"That Sara can be very nasty"

Tesni been watching this from the window of the bookshop, and tells Siôn that she can be very nasty;  “If you need a break, go upstairs for five minutes,” he suggests, 

"I'd prefer a cwtch"

and she replies that she would prefer a cwtch, which he finds rather disconcerting.   “I don’t think that’s a good idea,” he tells her.

"Worried I'm going to kiss you again?"

“Why?   In case I kiss you again?” she demands, “I’ve apologised for that, so why are you being so awkward?”   

"I've got work to do upstairs"

In his embarrassment, he decides to go back upstairs as he has a lot of work to do.

"There's something we need to discuss"

Kelly is preparing for a picnic when Jason comes in, needing to discuss something with her.   

"We can do that over a picnic"

“Yes, we can do that over a picnic, because I’m not going to let this saga with Sara affect our relationship,” she says.

"I do want to give this IUI a go"

“Yes, about that – I’ve decided that I do want to give this IUI a go,” says Jason, and Kelly looks rather disappointed, 

"It's OK if you want another baby with her"

but tells him that it is OK that he wants another baby with Sara.   “No, that’s not what I said – I’d like Ifan to have a brother or sister.”

"Perhaps this IUI thingy makes sense"

She concedes that she is not going to stop Ifan from having a brother or sister;  “So perhaps this IUI thingy makes sense – 

"Can we just go on this picnic, please?"

“can we just go on this picnic now, please?”   

"There's something else, Kelly"

He has something else to tell her, 

"This has got 'Sara' written all over it!"

and Kelly snarls, “Oh, here we go – this has got Sara written all over it!”

"The appointment's today – in an hour"

He advises that the appointment is today – in an hour.   “When did you know about this?” she asks, and he says that it was last night;  Sara has been arranging the whole thing behind his back.   

"Haven't you got to take loads of hormones and stuff?"

“How did she get the appointment?   Haven’t you got to take loads of hormones and stuff?” Kelly continues.

He informs her that Sara been taking hormones for a fortnight, and Kelly growls, “This is a new level of cheek, even for her, 

"Brazen flippin' cow!"

“brazen flippin’ cow!”   

"It will be over by tonight"

Jason argues that at least this might be a good thing – it will be over by tonight, and Sara will drop the charges.

Kelly does not relish the thought of being responsible from bringing a baby into the world just to get Sara to drop the charges.   Jason is emphatic that he is doing this for Ifan.   

"You don't want to keep Sara waiting!"

A car horn can be heard outside and Kelly tells him he had better shift, as he does not want to keep Sara waiting;  she unpacks the picnic bag and replaces the items in the fridge.   

When he has gone, she breaks down in tears

Jason will see her later, and she is left in tears.

"You should stop worrying"

Tyler has found that there is nothing wrong with Iolo and tells him he should stop worrying;  “That’s easier said than done – 

"It's nice to have an excuse to be pampered"

“mind you, it’s nice to have an excuse to be pampered,” says Iolo, and Tyler thinks that he ought to go.   He is invited to stay for lunch, as there is a lovely quiche in the fridge.

Tyler is detailed to answer the door

Then there is a knock at the door, and Iolo goes upstairs to get changed.   

"Take a photo of me with your phone"

Tyler finds that it is Kath, who asks him to take a photo of her.   

She adopts an extravagant pose

He does so, but cannot understand why she wants the photo.

Ffion would like a dress altered

Ffion has taken a dress to Anita, explaining, “It was on sale, but it’s too big – and Arwen has set her heart on wearing it to a party.   Do you think you could alter it bit for me?”   

"Anything's better than cleaning skirtings"

Anita regards anything as better than cleaning skirtings, and Ffion volunteers to go and fetch the sewing machine from upstairs, aware that it is kept on top of the wardrobe.

There is something Anita has forgotten

Then Anita suddenly realises something and tells Ffion to forget it, but it is too late, despite a lot of excuses.  

"Sorry I went upstairs"

Ffion apologises for running upstairs as if she were still living there.   

"Have you moved into the spare room permanently?"

“Have you moved into the spare room permanently, then?” she asks, 

"Things were not working out between us"

and Anita answers that they decided things were not working out between them.

Ffion is very sorry to hear that, and had no idea;  “We haven’t told anyone,” says Anita, 

"I won't breathe a word"

and Ffion promises not to breathe a word.

"That's it, Tyler . . ."

Tyler has accomplished what Kath wanted him to do, which is to superimpose the photo of her on a picture of Singapore, and he will now send it to her phone.   

". . . let's hope it does the trick"

“Brilliant – let’s hope it does the trick,” she says, and asks how Iolo is getting on.   She hurries back to Maes-y-Deri.

"I thought she would never leave"

Iolo comes back downstairs, and thought she would never leave;  

"Lunch for two – romance optional"

“Right, lunch for two – romance optional,” he says, 

"You made it clear romance is not optional"

but Tyler reminds him that he made it perfectly clear the other day that romance was not optional.   He has a lot to do today, and must go.   

"Get in touch when you're not busy"

Iolo tells him to get in touch when he is not busy.

"I'm expecting Andrea any minute"

Mark is just settling down with a couple of cans in front of his phone when his mother returns;  “Keep your voice down – I’m expecting Andrea any minute,” he says, 

"So don't disturb me, OK?"

“So don’t disturb me, OK?   Unless there’s a fire or some other crisis!”

"I've been to Singapore . . ."

Kath announces that she has been to Singapore 

". . . and here's the proof"

and shows him the evidence;  “It’s easy, Mark – don’t say I didn’t warn you.”   Then the message alert sounds on his phone, 

"Hi, Andrea – are you all right?"

and he smiles, “Hi, Andrea – are you all right?   I’ve got everything here ready – I’m good to go!”

Kath shakes her head

As Kath shakes her head, he receives some disappointing news;  

"If you have to work, you have to work"

“No, if you have to work, you have to work – contact me when it’s convenient, yeah?”

"Likes her job, doesn't she?"

“She likes her job, doesn’t she, that Andrea?” comments his mother, “I don’t know how you’re going to get that aftershave back in the bottle.”   

Mark is discouraged

Mark seems discouraged.

"No tears or anything like that"

Anita has explained her situation to Ffion;  “No tears or anything like that – that says a lot, doesn’t it?”   Ffion is sure that it still hurts, but is told, “We fell into a relationship, to be honest, and then we fell out of it – well, without the falling out, if you know what I mean.”

"I didn't want to throw the Parris out"

Ffion wonders why she stays in the house, and Anita points out that it is a lovely house, and she did not want to throw the Parris out.   Ffion imagines that it causes a lot of tension between them, 

"Siôn is company – and we get on"  

but Anita rather sorrowfully admits that Siôn is company, and they get on, which accounts for a lot.

"I've finished everything, Siôn"

Tesni calls to Siôn that she has finished everything and puts on her jacket to leave the shop;  

"Have you had a busy afternoon?"

he asks if she had a busy afternoon, and she replies that it was lonely.   She sarcastically comments that he was not avoiding her 

She asks why he is acting oddly

and asks why he is acting oddly since the kiss, describing it as completely silly – or awkward.

“I’m sorry if you feel awkward,” he says, 

"Your inappropriate behaviour is behind this"

“Your inappropriate behaviour is behind all this.   You kissed me because you thought you owed me something – I’m old enough to be your grandfather!”   Tesni doubts that he is as old as that.

"I'm just saying it's not right"

“I’m just saying it’s not right,” he goes on, “That you want to pay back a favour in a sexual way.   It makes me wonder whether all that sexting business affected you more than you realise.”

Tesni takes offence

She stresses that it was only one silly little kiss, and it was he who brought sex into this, not her;  “I’m not quite sure who’s being inappropriate!   That is definitely enough – you can’t talk to me like that – saying that I’m behaving like a prostitute – it’s disgusting!   

"Kissing you was disgusting!"

“Just like kissing you was – disgusting!”   And with that tirade, she marches out of the shop.

Jason is rather quiet

Jason is rather subdued when he returns to Bryntirion, 

"I'm sorry for earlier, Jase"

and Kelly apologises to him, “I’m sorry for earlier – it was obviously a bit of a shock, and, anyway, it’s sunk in now.   

"I know what you're doing for me"

“I know what you’re doing for me . . .”

Sara is also there

Then she becomes aware that Sara is also in the room, and after a few seconds of tense silence, 

"How did it go?"

Kelly asks how it went.   

"Thank you for sharing Jason with me"

Sara just wanted to thank Kelly for sharing Jason with her, and Jason looks very uneasy about it.

"Sharing?   Really?"

Kelly also does not appreciate the word, “Share?”   

"The baby will need its father"

Sara insists that the baby will need its father;  “As much as Ifan, yeah?” Kelly demands, and Sara confirms this.

"Have you been to retract your statement?"

“Have you been to the station to retract your statement?” Kelly wants to know, and is told that Sara has not yet done so, 

"I'll go first thing in the morning"

as the clinic wanted her to rest;  she maintains that she will go first thing in the morning, 

"Make sure you do!"

and is told, “Make sure you do!”

"Hope to see you soon with some good news"

“Right, I hope to see you soon with some good news,” says Sara, and leaves the house.

"This is going to be a life sentence!"

Kelly predicts, “If she’s preggers, this is going to be a life sentence!”   

Jason does not say a word

Jason remains silent.
