Kelly is preparing to go out; “The pressure is on for a new article,” she tells Jason, who was under the impression she was going to write about him and the rehab.
She has an idea what she will do |
“I’ve had another idea,” she continues, “I think I’ll do a follow-up article on something different.”
He says that there is no reason for her to go out, as he will stay out of the way so she can write. However, she knows different; “No way, because you say that, but I won’t get a minute’s peace,” she informs him as she leaves the house,
Sara is just coming in |
but when she opens the door, she finds Sara standing there.
"Someone's in a hurry" |
“Someone’s in a hurry,” Sara comments to Jason, and he says that she needs peace to write. Sara is concerned that Ifan has been disturbing her, but he says that is not the case,
"I've got the morning off today" |
adding that he has got the morning off today.
"Perhaps you can help me, then" |
“Good – perhaps you can help me, then – I’m trying to put a work portfolio together, and I’d appreciate your opinion.”
"How did he win this holiday?" |
In the Deri, Mark is looking at Eifion’s notice, appealing for someone to go on holiday with him; “How did he win this holiday?” he asks Cassie, and she believes it was an online competition or something.
He begins to enter Garry's name . . . |
As he begins to write something, she is surprised that he is interested, but he explains, “I’m putting Garry’s name down to wind him up.”
. . . then thinks better of it |
Cassie points out that it is silly to provoke Garry, so he crosses out the name; “You’re in a good mood – do I need to ask why?” she says.
"Andrea wants to meet on Skype" |
Mark reveals that Andrea has asked to meet him over Skype, which she regards as good start. He is worried that he will let her down,
"You did put a recent photo up?" |
and Cassie confirms that he has put a recent photo on his profile, and maintains that it is all about taking risks.
He is about to leave on his round . . . |
As he leaves the pub,
. . . and is warned to smarten himself up |
she advises him, “It wouldn’t hurt to put a comb through that hair!”
"You want my help with this article" |
Kelly has gone to Penrhewl, where Eileen is just making a cup of tea, and asks, “So you want my help with the article?”
"It's better to write from personal experience" |
Kelly says that it is better to write about things from personal experience sometimes. “Do you really want to write about Paul and Angela, of all people?” Eileen goes on, and is assured that the names would be changed.
"It would be about adoption in general" |
It would be an article about adoption in general, but Eileen seems to be unconvinced, arguing that it was a long time ago,
Eileen is trying to forget about it |
and that she has tried to forget about that part of her life.
Kelly is apologetic |
Kelly apologises, realising that the experience was horrible, and does not want to upset Eileen,
"There's something else on my mind today" |
who says that in fact there is something else on her mind today.
"So – are you willing to talk to me" |
“So – are you willing to talk to me?” Kelly enquires.
"I thought you needed specialist software" |
At Llwyncelyn, Sara has been working on the laptop; Jason is very impressed with what she has produced. “I thought you said you needed specialist software,” he points out, and she answers that she bought it –
"You've been spending the few pennies you've got" |
and the new camera makes a world of difference. “You’ve been spending the few pennies you’ve got,” he remarks,
"It's an investment, Jase" |
but she regards it as an investment.
"This is very good, Sara" |
He confesses that he was only pulling her leg, and judges that it is very good. “It means a lot to me, you know, that you and I can be like this together,” she says, and Jason agrees. “And it’s good for Ifan as well –
"I'm worried that Ifan's lonely" |
“I’ve been worried about him, now that he’s getting older – worried that he’s lonely. It’s a pity that he doesn’t have a brother or sister – sorry, that was a bit awkward.”
"I have to go out to town" |
Repeating that her designs are very good, Jason has to go out to town to pick up a few things,
Sara has a longer-term plan |
and she hopes that she has succeeded in the first part of her scheme.
Mark waits to be connected to Andrea . . . |
At Maes-y-Deri, Mark is sitting in front of the laptop, waiting to be connected to Andrea via Skype,
. . . and appears to be suffering from irritation |
and appears to be suffering from itching, so is scratching himself.
Then the connection is made . . . |
The call is connected while he is doing this,
. . . and he feels rather embarrassed |
and he looks somewhat embarrassed.
"Thank you very much, Mrs Jeffries" |
At APD, Izzy is speaking to a customer, “We could come over tomorrow – thank you very much, Mrs Jeffries.” Then she tells Jason, “There’s nice – she wants a wooden swing in the garden for the kids.
"It would be nice – a garden, children" |
“It would be nice, wouldn’t it? A garden, children – a wooden swing, of course.”
"Slow down, Izzy!" |
Mathew protests that he has agreed to view the house, now she is talking about children; he is under the impression that she will make a good mother one day.
"I'd do a better job than my mother has!" |
“I’ll do a better job than my mother has!” Izzy snarls,
"It may be time we sorted things out" |
and he thinks it may be time that they sorted things out, suggesting that they could go for a drink with Gaynor and Hywel and see how it goes.
"It's Mam's fault if she won't apologise!" |
“Math, we’ve been through this! It’s Mam’s fault if she won’t apologise!” snaps Izzy, “Please, just forget about it!”
Eifion looks at his notice in the Deri, and wonders why Garry changed his mind; Cassie pleads ignorance.
Eifion cannot understand everyone's reluctance |
“I can’t understand it – I’d expect half the village to fight over a free holiday – but there we are.
"Perhaps you could come with me?" |
“Hey, perhaps you could come with me?”
The very idea makes Cassie laugh, even though he predicts that they would have a lot of fun; “Thanks for the offer – but no!” she informs him.
"Do you have change for a tenner, Cassie?" |
Then Britt comes in from the chippy; “Do you have change for a tenner?” she asks Cassie, and Eifion tries out his approach on her, offering a free week in Majorca at a five-star hotel.
"You must fancy a change by now" |
She has already heard about his previous attempts, and he points out that she and Colin have been married for over two weeks, and she must fancy a change by now.
"In case he goes up to Penrhewl for some comfort?" |
When his offer is turned down, he asks, “Are you afraid of leaving Colin – in case he goes up to Penrhewl for some comfort from Eileen?”
"You're full of poison and spite!" |
Britt stresses, “That’s why no-one will go on holiday with you – you’re full of poison and spite – if I were you, I’d pack my bag and go away on my own.
"Don't ever come back!" |
“And do us all a favour – don’t ever come back!”
This takes the wind out of Eifion's sails |
After this tirade, he slips out of the pub, as Britt winks at Cassie.
Jason has made a cup of tea |
Jason has just made himself a cup of tea when Kelly returns,
"I've had a brainwave!" |
announcing, “So, I’ve had a brainwave about this adoption article – well, Eileen has given me a really good idea.”
"After everything you went though, Kelly?" |
He wonders if it is wise to write about adoption after everything she went through, and she complains, “You sound exactly like Auntie Anita.
"Ca– thar–tic!" |
“Don’t worry because it’s cathartic – ca-thar-tic, something that helps you feel better. It helps me, anyway –
"Right – sandwich!" |
“right, sandwich!”
"Have you thought about having another baby?" |
“There’s something I’ve wanted to ask you, but I don’t know . . .” he begins, “You see, have you thought about having another baby?”
"That's out of the blue, isn't it?" |
Kelly is taken completely by surprise; “That’s out of the blue, isn’t it?” she gasps, and he wonders if she would consider it. “You know what – you really know how to pick a moment, don’t you?” she answers.
“I was just thinking, as we’re settling . . .” he continues,
"My head is full of stuff at the moment" |
but she protests that her head is full of stuff at the moment and this is the first time she has been asked to think about it. She emphasises that there is no rush.
Mark appears downhearted |
When Mark returns to the Deri, looking rather solemn, Cassie approves of the new hairstyle; “I assume from your face that things didn’t go well,” she says,
"I'm not using dating apps again" |
and he insists that he is not using dating apps again.
"You're just getting started" |
“Don’t be silly – you’re just getting started,” she tells him.
"I don't need to – Andrea's great!" |
“No, I’m not trying again – because I don’t need to – Andrea’s great!” he goes on, breaking into a smile, “She’s really, really nice – honest, Cas, she was so much fun and so easy to talk to.
"She's gorgeous!" |
“And she’s a lot prettier than her photo even – she’s gorgeous! I was worried she wouldn’t like me, but she wants to keep in touch. I don’t want to move too quickly, but . . .” and with that his phone sounds.
"I'm not telling you everything, Cassie!" |
He looks very pleased with what he reads there — presumably a message from Andrea.
"Your pint is on the house, Mark" |
Cassie is finishing her shift now, as she has a visitor coming this afternoon, and tells him that his pint is on the house;
He is very pleased with himself |
she is very happy for him.
Eifion has no more success with Aled |
Eifion is now trying his powers of persuasion on Aled in ‘Chi a’r Ci’; “Five-star hotel, all-inclusive – for free – what do you say?” Aled says that he hardly knows Eifion, and cannot just drop everything; he just does not want to go.
"Who are you complaining about?" |
Eifion is grumbling as he leaves the shop and encounters Sioned, who wants to know who he is complaining about; “I offer the guy a free week in Majorca and he refuses!”
"He's got more sense than to go away with you!" |
“Aled has more sense than to go away with you – I wouldn’t!” she abruptly informs him and walks away, laughing.
Eifion feels he has no friends |
By this time, Eifion is becoming rather discouraged.
"Eileen said how different things were then" |
Kelly has gone to number 9; “Eileen said the same thing – how different things were, back then,” she says.
"It must have been difficult for you with Paul" |
Cassie is sure that it was just as difficult for her with Paul,
"At least I made the decision" |
and Kelly concedes, “It wasn’t easy, but at least I made the decision and no-one else.” Cassie regards her as brave.
“So, what was it like when Steffan came back?” Kelly asks;
"I thought there was a chance he would look for me" |
Cassie had always thought there was a chance he would look for her, but it was still a huge shock. It was difficult, especially for her husband, Teg, but she had had to cope – blood is thicker than water.
"I understand that, after Ed!" |
Kelly muses, “Love is blind – I understand that as much as anyone, after Ed!” Cassie agrees that they have both been through it, and it is nice to talk to someone who understands.
"Your son being a murderer?" |
Then Kelly reaches a difficult point; “What what was it like in the end – Steffan killing Teg? Your son being a murderer?”
"It's difficult to explain" |
Cassie finds it very difficult to explain,
"I know how I felt after seeing Ed kill Angela" |
and Kelly says, “I know how I felt after seeing Ed kill Angela.” Cassie proposes that they have a cup of tea,
"We deserve something stronger" |
then decides that they deserve something stronger, which Kelly will not refuse.
Jason is looking at plans |
Jason is looking at some plans when Sara returns to the house, and was not expecting to see him there.
Sara has been shopping |
She has bought a few books to help with the business and insists that she wants it to succeed;
"Remember that business course in Australia?' |
“Do you remember doing that business course in Australia?”
"Visualisation, mate!" |
Jason launches into a broad Australian accent, “Visualisation, mate! Nice shirt, Jason – do they make them for men?”
"I want to have a clear picture of the future" |
Sara wants to have a clear picture of the future,
"Sara – like the desert – hot and dry!" |
and he continues, “Sarah, is it? No, Sara – like the desert! Hot and dry!”
He points out that she has always had a good business head;
"I want to make up for Awyr Iach" |
“I just want to make up for what happened to Awyr Iach – I’m not giving up this time,” she insists, “I’ve got a clear picture of what I want.”
"This place is filthy!" |
Izzy is wielding a mop at APD, complaining to Mathew, “This place is filthy,” but he blames the dust from outside.
"How did you cope without me?" |
“How did you cope without me?” she demands, “Jason’s at home, checking the plans for the garage in Llanarthur.”
"It would be nice for them to have their Gran" |
Mathew says that he has been thinking; “I’m serious – if we did have children one day, it would be nice for them to have their Gran. My mother isn’t around, is she? Talking about children made me think – the fact that Dad and I have sort of come to understand each other. It has made me feel better, and I’m sure you’ll feel the same.
"One small drink in the Deri" |
“Izzy, just one small drink in the Deri.”
Izzy predicts it will be a disaster |
She accuses him of being like a dog with a bone; “Fine – one drink – but don’t be disappointed if it’s a disaster!” she growls. He jokingly points out that she has missed a bit.
"Have you thought any more about what I said?" |
Sara returns to what they were talking about earlier; “About Ifan – have you thought any more about what I said?”
"Kelly's not against having children" |
He replies that he has had a chat with Kelly; she is not against having children, but not just now.
"I don't think you understood me properly . . ." |
“I don’t think you understood me properly,” Sara goes on,
". . . I want a child . . . with you" |
“I want to have a brother or sister for Ifan, but with you.”
Jason is dumbfounded |
He looks at her in amazement
"I don't want a relationship, but . . ." |
as she continues, “I don’t want a relationship, but it makes sense that . . .”
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! You're not serious!" |
“Whoa, whoa, whoa!” he exclaims, and she points out that there are many ways to do it – she has done lots of research. “This must be a joke! You’re not serious!” Jason shouts, but she is adamant that they could make it work.
Kelly is full of her idea . . . |
At that moment Kelly returns, and he is eager to tell her about Sara’s suggestion,
. . . and is going upstairs to write it |
but she is full of an amazing idea she has had for her next story; “I’m going upstairs to write it while it’s fresh,” she tells him, “It’s going to be sensational!”
Jason glowers at Sara |
Jason glowers at Sara, who knows that he has had a shock, and can understand it.
"Just think about it for me, please" |
“We don’t have to discuss it now – just think about it for me, please.”
He seems, at the moment, to be dead against it |
By the look on Jason’s face, there is no chance of him agreeing to her scheme.
