You'll get the package before lunch"

As Dylan comes out of the door of Tapas, he is speaking on the phone;  “I said I’d sort it out, didn’t I?   You’ll get the package today, yes, before lunch.”   The door of the chippy flat opens, and Aaron walks out, followed by Colin;  

An altercation between Colin and Aaron is going on

“I can’t live without a phone, and you promised to fix it for me!” Aaron rages.

"But you promised, Colin . . ."

Colin had not realised it would cost so much, but is reminded that he promised;  

". . . like you promised to be faithful to Mam!"

“But there we are – you promised to be faithful to Mam as well – you’re pathetic!”

"It's time you stared looking after your stuff!"

becomes angry;  “It’s about time you started looking after your stuff, good boy!” and he marches back into the flat.   

Dylan takes advantage of the situation

Dylan is watching and taking notice of this, then he calls to Aaron, “You don’t expect Colin to know what it’s like to live without a phone, do you?   

"I might be able to help you"

“I might be able to help you, though – come over to the house for a chat.”   

Aaron is suspicious

Aaron initially looks suspicious, but then thinks of his inoperative phone.

In the house, Dylan first checks to make sure that Rhys is not there, then wants to see Aaron’s phone.   

"That's like something from the Ark!"

“Crikey – that’s like something from the Ark,” he sneers, “Where did you get it?   The Antiques Roadshow?”   Aaron replies that frying chips does not pay well.

"Luckily for you I need a favour"

“Luckily for you, I need a favour,” Dylan tells him, “And I’m willing to pay well.   

"This has to be in Llanarthur before lunch"

“This has to be in the hands of a friend in Llanarthur before lunch.”   Aaron wants to know what it is, and is told, “A courier doesn’t usually ask – it’s up to you – it could solve your problem.   

"Uncle Garry wouldn't think twice!"

“I’m sure Uncle Garry wouldn’t think twice!”   Aaron is still doubtful.

Brynmor is having trouble with the recycling sack

Out in the street, Brynmor is having problems with the recycling bag, picking up various items strewn on the road;  

"It should be out the back"

Siôn approaches the shop, and Brynmor asks where he should leave the recycling.   “It should be out the back,” he is told, and Siôn notices that one of the wrappers is from lobster;  “I haven’t had lobster for years,” he comments.

"Have to keep the landlady happy"

Brynmor says that he has to keep the landlady happy, 

Then he sees Kath across the road . . .

and then he sees Kath, across the road by the alley;  

. . . but she walks away

after looking at him, she walks away without a word.

Siôn finds the bookshop locked up

Siôn has found that the bookshop is locked up and peers in through the window, 

He looks across at number 10

then looks across at number 10.

In the Deri, Garry is busy when Iolo comes in, so he says that Tyler will be able to help him;  

"A cupboard door has stuck"

“A cupboard door in my room is stuck, and I’ve tried everything to open it,” he says.   Garry will take a look at it tonight, but Iolo insists that he wants the stuff that is in it this morning.   

"Tyler, I don't want to overdo it"

“Ty, I don’t want to overdo it,” he pleads, 

"I'll have a look at it"

and Tyler, duly persuaded, agrees to go and look at it.

Aaron wants to speak to Garry . . .

Aaron comes rushing in, wanting to speak to Garry, but at that moment Garry’s phone rings;  

. . . but Garry has an urgent phone call

“What – now?” he demands, “All right – I’ll be over now!”   

"Come back later, Aaron"

He tells Aaron to come back later.

"I've brought some things back for Eifion"

Sioned is home from her solo holiday in Majorca, having brought some things back for Eifion to say thank you.   “I’m surprised there was room for everything in that case,” her mother remarks, and Sioned says that she could only read so many books.

"I've started to think about the future"

“I was a bit lonely, considering how different my life was supposed to be this year – but it’s all right, because I’ve started to think about the future.   I have some exciting ideas for the business.”

"I wasn't sure if you heard about Rhys"

Eileen points out that a few things have happened in Cwmderi while she was away;  “I wasn’t sure if you had heard about Rhys – he found himself in a dark place, but Dylan found him in time, thank goodness.”   

Sioned is very shocked

Sioned demands what happened and her mother explains to her.

"Are you ill or something?"

Siôn goes over to number 10 check on Tesni;  “Are you ill or something?” he enquires, but she does not answer.   “I said some things last night I shouldn’t have,” Siôn confesses, 

"Our chat deteriorated"

“And I’m sorry if I hurt you – our chat deteriorated.”

She thinks that he could be right;  

"Perhaps the sexting has left its mark on me"

“Perhaps the sexting and that business has left its mark on me.”   He appreciates that the world is a complicated place for young people, who tend to think they are invincible.

"A kiss means something to my generation"

“Perhaps I showed my age as well,” he goes on, sitting down;  “You young people – a kiss means something to my generation.   I remembered when I kissed Gwen for the first time – the boys’ mother – 

"I felt like I won the jackpot!"

“I felt like I won the jackpot!”

"I'd like to feel like that"

Tesni smiles and would like to feel like that, too.   He is confident that she will when she finds the right person, 

"If I find the right person"

but she prefers to say, “If I find the right person.”   

"I'll go and get dressed"

She will go and get dressed, and invites Siôn to make himself a cup of tea.

"I think I was a bit hard on Aaron"

Colin is taking some time off from the shop;  he tells Britt, “I couldn’t concentrate so I asked Kath to take over for a few hours.   I just can’t help but think perhaps I was a bit hard on Aaron.”

Aaron is listening in

Meanwhile Aaron has silently come up the stairs, and waits out of sight as the conversation continues.   

"Not after what he said to you, Col!"

“Not after what he said to you!” snaps Britt, but Colin stresses that he is not a bad boy;  she is adamant, “He had no right to mention that business with Eileen.”

Colin moans that she does the same thing all the time, 

"I'm your wife – I've got every right!"

and Britt’s excuse is that she is his wife, and has every right to do so.   “But Aaron should learn to keep his nose out.”   

"Perhaps we should buy him a new phone"

Bearing in the mind everything they have been through this year, Colin thinks that they ought to buy him a new mobile phone.

Things appear to be looking up

From his hiding place, Aaron thinks that this sounds promising, 

"He's hardly helped us in the chip shop

until he hears his mother say, “He’s hardly helped us in the chip shop, Col.”   

"He's been up to his eyes in school work"

Colin replies that he has been up to his eyes with school work, but Britt insists, “He shouldn’t expect us to pay every time he needs something – 

"He needs to stand on his own two feet!"

“he needs to stand on his own two feet!   If he breaks his phone, he has to find the money to fix it, not us.”   Aaron has heard enough and returns down the stairs.

"There was nothing wrong with the cupboard, was there?"

Iolo and Tyler come down the stairs in Number 7, and Tyler remarks, “There was nothing wrong with the cupboard, was there?”   

"You must be stronger than you think"

Iolo tries to persuade him that it was stuck, and that he must be stronger than he thinks.   

"Iol, stop flirting with me!"

“Iol, stop flirting with me!” groans Tyler, “And stop finding excuses to call me over – it’s not fair.”

"I thought you had feelings for me"

Iolo was under the impression that Tyler had feelings for him;  “Yes, and that’s why it’s not fair – one minute you’re giving me signals, then you’re not sure what you want.”

“Look, I made it clear yesterday that I’ve changed my mind,” Iolo informs him, 

"How long will it last this time?"

but Tyler wonders how long it will last this time;  every time he does that Tyler gets hurt

"I was worried I wouldn't get through it"

“Sorry,” says Iolo, and when Tyler sits down, he continues, “When I was ill, I was worried I wouldn’t get through it.   The last thing I wanted was for you to have feelings for me, because . . . 

"I would only have hurt you"

“if I hadn’t got better, I would only have hurt you.   But now that I’m better, I realise that life isn’t worth living without you.   I love you, Ty!   And I want to spend every second I have with you and no-one else.”

Tyler feels the same

Tyler smiles and agrees with him.   

"Should we take another look at that cupboard?"

“So that cupboard upstairs – should we take another look at it?” Iolo suggests, and Tyler cannot wait to get up there.

Siôn washes up his cup

Siôn is washing up his cup after use, and Tesni comes back downstairs;  “I’ve been thinking a lot,” she says, about . . . well, the fact that I always want to please people.   You’re right – parents, teachers, bosses.”   

"They don't encourage you to wear short skirts"

He points out to her that those people do not encourage her to wear make-up and short skirts.   

"As long as I do it for myself – and not men"

She protests that she likes wearing those things, and there is nothing wrong with that, as long as she does it for herself and not for other people – or men.

Tesni thinks that they had better get to work, and he queries the fact that she has not had breakfast;  “I’ll have some chips at lunchtime,” she says, and he objects to her having junk food.

Siôn will go to get her some cawl

“You go and open up – I’ll go to the Deri to get some cawl,” he tells her;  

"Or I won't grow up big and strong"

she realises that she will never grow up to be big and strong otherwise.   “I don’t want a worker who’s always off sick,” explains Siôn.

"You're kind – and a lovely boss"

As they are about to leave the house, Tesni informs him, “I don’t think you’re disgusting – you’re kind – and a lovely boss.”

Sioned is concentrating on her phone

Sioned appears to be deep in thought, and tells her mother, “I’m trying to decide whether I should send this message to Rhys.   

She is going to send a message to Rhys

“‘I hope you’re OK.   I’m always here for you if you want to talk.’   

"I want him to know I understand"

“I don’t treat people well when I’m depressed, either – so I want him to know that I understand.”

Eileen remarks that she has grown up a lot lately, and Sioned is determined to look forward now, to be positive and keep busy.   

"Some of my ideas would keep us busy, Mam"

“Some of these ideas I have would help keep us busy – Mam, they’re foolproof!   

"Film you cooking the produce"

“I want to put our best produce in a box, film you cooking the produce, and then the customers can follow what you do – they’ll love it, I’m telling you!”   

Eileen likes this idea

Eileen seems to quite fancy that idea.

"I bet you're starving, now Brynmor's moved out"

As he waits at the bar in the Deri, Siôn sees Mark, who complains that he is starving.   “I bet you are, now that Brynmor has moved out,” says Siôn, 

"Champagne, fancy chocolates, lobster"

“I saw him struggling with a recycling bag earlier – bottles of champagne, fancy chocolates, lobster.   Did you eat like that with Brynmor every night?   

"I bet Cassie is very happy with her new lodger"

“I bet that Cassie is very happy with her new lodger.”

Dylan is anxious about Aaron

Dylan is sitting nearby, looking anxious.

"I wrote an address on a piece of paper"

Garry comes home to number 7, looking for an address he wrote on a piece of paper, and when Tyler comes downstairs, 

"One of the hinges had come loose"

it is assumed that he has looked at the cupboard.   “One of the hinges had come loose,” Tyler improvises.

"Now you've fixed it, you can go, can't you?"

“Good,” Garry tells him, “Now that you’ve fixed it, you can go, can’t you?”   Tyler answers that he has a lot on today and will see Iolo soon.

"You took your time, Aaron"

Dylan complains to Aaron that he has taken his time;  he replies that his mother wanted him to do a few jobs for her and he did not want to arouse suspicion.   “There’s some sense in that little head, then,” Dylan laughs, 

"The man was pretty pleased"

and Aaron hands over an envelope in return, remarking that the man was pretty happy.

"You want to get paid now?"

“You want to get paid now?” asks Dylan, and directs him to the kitchen table, where there is a mobile phone;  

"That's for you"

“That’s for you – your SIM card should fit in it.”   

"This must be worth loads"

Aaron cannot believe it, as the phone must be worth loads.   “Well, it doesn’t have a box or charger – so enjoy it,” Dylan encourages him, 

"I might come back to you, you know"

“Listen, I might come back to you, you know, as other jobs come up – what do you say?”   

"Better use the back door from now on"

Aaron remains noncommittal, but is advised to use the back door from now on;  although he looks puzzled, he does so.

Kath finds herself sitting on a handset

Kath settles down on the sofa, and removes a gaming handset which is impeding her comfort;  when Mark comes in, she hopes that Andrea does not want to do more gaming, 

"I've just put my feet up, Mark"

because she has just put her feet up.   He has not heard from her today, and warns, “I’m not taking any advice from you, all right, because I understand these things better.   I knew Brynmor was bad news from the start.   

"He's moved on – to his landlady's bed!"

“He’s proved me right now – he’s moved on, Mam!   To his landlady’s bed!”

"You're talking nonsense"

She says that he is talking nonsense, but he goes on, “I’m telling you they’re enjoying the high life.   

"Champagne and even lobster!"

Siôn saw their recycling – bottles of champagne and even lobster!”   She points out that Brynmor cannot stand things like that, so Mark concludes that he must be trying to impress Cassie.   “It makes you wonder what she’s offering him that you didn’t!”

Kath orders him to stop right there;  “Cassie would never sniff around Brynmor!”   

"I thought you were over him"

Mark cannot understand why she cares, and understood she was over him.   

"I couldn't be more 'over him' if I tried"

“Oh yes,” she emphasises, “I couldn’t be more ‘over him’ if I tried!”

Mark comments that it is between them and their blinkin’ lobsters, in that case.

Colin prepares to give a massage . . .

It appears that Britt is all ready to receive a massage from Colin, 

. . . which shocks Aaron

and Aaron is disgusted when he walks in.   

"Your mother's stiff as a poker"

Colin explains, “Your mother’s stiff as a poker, after slaving over the books all morning.”   His mother tells him that Colin has an offer for him;  

"A couple of shifts in the shop"

“Yes, a couple of shifts in the shop – a chance for you to start . . .”

"I don't want to work in the shop"

Aaron makes it very clear that he does not want to work in the shop, so Britt wonders what he is going to do for money.   “I’ll try and find something for myself, I suppose,” is the answer, “I want to start standing on my own two feet.”

"Bradley's old phone – his Mam bought him a new one"

Then his newly acquired phone sounds, and Aaron explains it away as, “Bradley’s old phone – you know Bradley – his mother bought him a new phone, and the SIM fits it perfectly.   Right, I’m off, OK?”

He leaves the flat . . .

As he is about to go down the stairs, Britt remarks, “It’s easy to stand on your own two feet, when you’re sponging off your friends, isn’t it?”   

. . . and Colin will get to work

Colin prepares to administer the full body massage.

Outside the flat, Aaron is speaking on the phone to Dylan;  

"I'd be very happy to do another job for you"

“Look, about earlier, I’d be very happy to do another job for you – yes, I’m sure.”
