Rhys is not relishing that cup of tea

As Rhys is drinking a cup of tea, which he does not seem to like, he hears someone come into the house and assumes that it is Dylan.

Then his father turns up again

He is dismayed to see his father standing there,

"I don't want to talk to you"

and says, “I don’t want to talk to you – I thought I made that clear.”

Hywel repeats that he is not angry with his son;  “I’m just glad you’re not hurt and I want to help you.

"I might not have handled things right"

“I might not have handled things right . . .”   Rhys sneers that is nothing new.   “You said the other day that you didn’t want to be like me,” Hywel continues, “Half the time, I don’t want to be like me.   What I’m trying to say is we all go through times when we don’t like ourselves.”

"Is that supposed to make me feel better?"

Rhys wonders how that is supposed to make him feel better, and is told that he needs to talk to someone;

"I've booked you an appointment with the GP"

Hywel has therefore booked an appointment with the GP.   “They could help you,” he insists,

"Well, you can cancel it, then"

but Rhys orders him to cancel it.

"Don't you want to recover?"

“Don’t you want to recover?” his father demands, then apologises, “Sorry, I didn’t come here to upset you.”

"You didn't have to come at all"

Rhys mutters that he did not have to come there at all, but he protests, “Please think about it – if you get these dark thoughts . . .”

"Just leave me alone!"

Rhys explodes, “Just leave me alone!” so his father turns and sadly leaves the house.

Hywel walks across the road

As he walks across the road, Megan sees him and asks how Rhys is;

"Go on – walk away!"

Hywel walks away without a word, just as the door opens, and Rhys shouts after him, “Go on – walk away!”   Hywel was under the impression that is what he wanted, and offers to go back into the house.

"Why?   Scared someone will hear?"

“Why?   Scared someone will hear?” he snarls,

"Everyone knows, thanks to her!"

then to Megan;  “Everyone knows, thanks to her!   Thanks for telling him, Megan!”

She replies that she was trying to help, but he insists, “I don’t need your help – or anyone else’s!”

His father exclaims, “I know you’re angry with me,”

"You have no idea what's going on in my head!"

and Rhys yells that Hywel has no idea what is going on in his head, and not everything revolves around him.

"Or you wouldn't have trashed, Llwyncelyn!"

“It must be something to do with me or you wouldn’t have trashed Llwyncelyn!” Hywel points out,

"Oh, that's what you're worried about!"

and Rhys goes back into the house, realising that is what he is worried about.

"If I want your advice, I'll ask for it!"

Megan advises that it would be best if Rhys were left alone;  “If I want your advice, I’ll ask for it!” Hywel growls as he walks away from her.

"Garry is being difficult at the moment"

Along the street, outside APD, Dani apologises to Mathew that she is late paying him, but Garry is being really difficult at the moment.

"Well, pay when you can, Dani"

He agrees that she can pay when she is able to do so.   Izzy does not like the sound of this

"You should send her a final demand!"

and remonstrates with him, “You should send her a final demand!”   He says he is not going to start hassling customers.

Izzy looks across the road at Hywel

Hywel passes on the other side of the street;  he and Izzy look at each other;  Mathew says that he looks as if he has a lot on his mind.

"Perhaps I should go over to see Rhys"

“Perhaps I should do what your mother said, and go over to see Rhys,” and Izzy considers that her mother was right for once.

“It will be a bit odd – we havent talked since . . . well, for a while,” he goes on,

"You were tossing and turning all night, Math"

but she reminds him that he was tossing and turning all night, and is obviously worried about Rhys.

Kelly is trying to calm herself

At Llwyncelyn, Kelly is sitting on the floor, meditating, when the back door opens and an exceedingly grubby Jason comes in.

"OK, I know the drill, Kelly"

Before she has a chance to complain, he confirms that he knows the drill;  “Strip and don’t touch anything!”

"Those trousers are a health hazard!"

She instructs him to put those clothes in the wash, as they are a health hazard, and he agrees, “These trousers will have to come off!”

"You know who this is, don't you?"

Then his phone sounds and he groans, “You know who that is, don’t you?   I can’t deal with Sara now.”   Kelly is insistent that he cannot ignore her, because she wants an answer, and demands what he is going to do.

"Will you sign the contract or what?"

“I can’t stop thinking about it – will you sign the contract or what?” she squeals.

"That would tie me to having another child with her"

He realises that would tie him to having another child with Sara, and Kelly reminds him of the alternative.

"Do you really think she'll take you to court?"

“Do you really think she’ll take you to court?” he demands,

"She didn't look as if she was joking"

and Kelly says that she did not look as if she was joking, then orders him to get washed.

"And what do you want?"

At Cysgod y Glyn, Ffion admits Hywel, who comes thundering up the stairs;  she asks what he wants.

"Rhys intended to set fire to Llwyncelyn"

“Rhys intended to set fire to Llwyncelyn – don’t worry, he didn’t – Dylan stopped him.   You haven’t heard the worst of it – he’s been thinking of taking his own life!”   Ffion is very shocked by this, and thanks Hywel for telling her.

"Don't pretend to care, Ffion"

“Don’t pretend to care, Ffion!” he snaps, “I’m only here to tell you to keep away!”   She is sure that she is the last person Rhys wants to see, and he says that she has done enough damage as it is.

"Me?   How about you?"

“Me?” she shouts, “How about you?”

"I'm not the one who treated Rhys like dirt"

Hywel maintains he is not the one who treated Rhys like dirt.   She answers, “Aren’t you?

"So why did he want to destroy Llwyncelyn?"

“So why did he want to destroy Llwyncelyn and not here?”

Hywel is momentarily speechless

Hywel does not appear to have an answer to that one.

"Are you familiar with the bistro at Llanarthur?"

As they have enjoyed a meal at number 9, Brynmor asks if Cassie is familiar with the new bistro on the way out of Llanarthur;  “They deliver – you should try it.”

"It would make a nice change from Cwm Delhi"

She agrees that it would make a nice change from Cwm Delhi’s curries,

"I'm late for work!"

then looks at her watch and realises she is late for her shift.

"I'll deal with this"

Brynmor is sorry to have delayed her and will deal with the washing-up;

He still appears troubled

he still has that troubled look about him.

"Izzy told me what happened"

Mathew visits Rhys;  “Izzy told me what happened,” he begins, “How are you?

"I've got you a bacon sandwich"

“I’ve got you a bacon sandwich – you bought me some when I was ill.”

"I'm not ill – or hungry"

Rhys replies that he is not ill, and neither is he hungry.   Mathew leaves the sandwiches for later, and suggests going for a walk, but Rhys does not want to go anywhere.

"Perhaps a cup of tea?"

“Do you mind if I sit down?   I’ve been on my feet all day,” says Mathew, “And perhaps a cup of tea?”

Rhys puts on the kettle

Rhys reluctanty goes to put on the kettle.

"I didn't know he was so fragile"

“I didn’t know he was so fragile – if I’d only known,” sighs Ffion, and Hywel demands what exactly she would have done differently, insisting that it is too late to cry over spilt milk.

"I should never have persuaded you . . ."

“I should never have persuaded you to get rid of the baby,” he snarls, but she asks if that is what influenced Rhys,

"That was my decision and nobody else's!"

stressing that was her decision and nobody else’s.

"You shouldn't have gone anywhere near him!"

He continues to exclaim, “You shouldn’t have gone anywhere near him!   You had no self-discipline!”

"I'm hearing this from you, of all people?"

Ffion cannot believe she is hearing that from him, of all people,

"Why were you seeing each other?"

but he continues, “You shouldn’t have been together!   Why were you seeing each other?”

Ffion suggests that he should ask his son that question.   She emphasises that Rhys knew she did not want a relationship;  “I made that clear from the start – but he wanted more –

"Because he's his father's son!"

“because he’s his father’s son!”

Hywel menacingly warns her to away from him;  “I don’t intend to go anywhere near – for his sake and mine,” she confirms,

"If you do . . ."

but he adopts a threatening tone.

"What – you'll come here with a can of petrol, will you?"

“What – you’ll come here with a can of petrol, will you?” she laughs, adding, “I think you’d better go now.”

Hywel does indeed leave

He does so.

"Just in case you've forgotten how much you owe"

Dani is mopping the floor of the Deri flat when Izzy arrives with an invoice for the final payment for the work on Chi a’r Ci, “Just in case you’ve forgotten how much you owe,” she says, and wants to know when she will be paying the money.

"When I can"

“When I can,” Dani replies,

"Do the salon customers pay when they want?"

and Izzy asks if customers in the salon pay when they want.   If not, APD should be treated in the same way as that, and she walks out.

Kelly is deep in thought

Kelly is very pensive when Jason comes noisily downstairs

"Thanks for the sandwich, Kelly"

and thanks her for the sandwich she has prepared for him;  “Just because you’re worth it,” she tells him,

"Jase, we can't avoid this any more"

then adds, “Jase, we can’t avoid this any more – I just want you to know, whatever you decide, I’m fine with it.   This is my fault and I feel awful about it.   I’m not going to force you to have a baby with Sara, so she’ll drop the charges – no way!”

"You could go to jail, Kelly!"

Jason reminds her that she could go to jail,

"I can live with that – can you?"

but she answers, “Perhaps – and perhaps not.   The point is, I can live with it, but can you?

"Can you live with having another baby with Sara?"

Can you live with having another baby with Sara?   Because if you can’t – all good!   I’ll take it on the chin.   If you can, go for it  – just as long as you don’t sleep with her!   I’d prefer to be a convicted criminal than for that to happen!”

"Yes, I'd prefer that!"

Jason agrees that he would also prefer that, and wonders what he has dne to deserve Kelly;  she describes him as ‘soppy’, and is now going to go out for a walk, to get some fresh air.

"Have a think about what I said, please"

“Have a think about what I said, please.”

Jason has a decision to make

He pushes away the sandwich, and has some serious thinking to do.

"I can't get rid of this headache"

In the Deri, Cassie is feigning a headache, which she tells Anita she cannot get rid of.

"Go home – I'll look after the bar"

“Why don’t you go home – I’ll look after the bar – I don’t have anything better to do, and I have worked behind that bar before.”

"I appreciate that, Anita"

She is glad that Cassie is so appreciative,

She helps herself to a bottle

then Cassie seizes a bottle from behind the bar and leaves,

There is at least one paying customer

as we can see that there is at least one customer in the Deri.

"It doesn't help, you know"

“It doesn’t help, you know – you think it does at the time, but it doesn’t,” Mathew tells Rhys,

"I haven't touched a drop for days"

who confirms that he has not touched a drop for days.  Mathew regards that as a good thing;  “It’s easy to let things become a burden,” he goes on, “And not be able to find a way out – I was very depressed after the attack, wasn’t I?   But I got through it.   I know I haven’t been a good friend recently.”

"No, you haven't, have you?"

Rhys agrees with that.

"I know exactly how you feel"

“But I’m here for you now – don’t be so hard on yourself – I know exactly how you feel,” Mathew insists.

"Nobody knows how I feel, apart from me"

Rhys is adamant that he does not know;  “Nobody knows how I feel, apart from me.”

"You've only got to pick up the phone, Rhys"

Mathew now leaves, and offers to be on the other end of the phone if Rhys needs anything.

Hywel is taking out his frustration on the rug

At Llwyncelyn, Hywel is frantically scrubbing at the rug, trying to remove the smell of petrol, and is in tears;

He bursts into tears

he sobs uncontrollably.

Cassie arrives home with the bottle

Cassie returns to number 9 to find Brynmor packing his bags;

"I've been under your feet long enough"

“I’ve been under your feet long enough – you were late for work on my account.”   She points out that she is the boss there, so it does not matter, and now she is back.

"I don't want to take advantage"

“You’ve been very generous and I don’t want to take advantage,” he continues;  she replies that if she had thought that, he would have been out straightaway.

"Take those cases back upstairs

She instructs him to take those cases back upstairs and she will open the bottle of wine.   “Only if you will let me treat you to dinner,” he stipulates,

"I'll order something from that bistro

“I’ll order something from that bistro I mentioned – I insist.”

Izzy checks the APD invoices . . .

Izzy is going through the invoices and looks concerned;

. . . and starts a list of non-payers

she starts to write a list, ‘People who haven’t paid’, but hides it when Mathew comes upstairs.

"He wasn't pleased to see me"

She tells him she is catching up with some paperwork, and he reports that Rhys was not pleased to see him.

"I just thought I could help"

“I just thought because I went through such a hard time that I could help,” he says, and Izzy points out that it is early days yet.

"What if he does something?"

“What if he does something?” Mathew worries, “People don’t just stop thinking of that, not without help, anyway.   I should never have turned my back on him – but he was being such an idiot.   I should have realised something wasn’t right.”

"You've shown you're worried about him"

Izzy says that he has shown that he is worried about Rhys, and that is the most important thing.   She also has some good news for him;

"Dani transferred the money earlier"

“Dani’s paid the final payment – she transferred the money earlier.”   Mathew reminds her that he said she was not to hassle people,

"It's time we went back to work"

and thinks that it is time they went back to work.

She looks again at the list

She takes another look at the list she has just started.

"I won't keep you, Jason"

Sara arrives at Bryntirion just as Jason was going back to work;  “I won’t keep you,” she assures him,

"If you answered your phone, I wouldn't have to chase you"

“If you answered your phone, I wouldn’t have to chase you.”

"We haven't reached a decision yet"

He informs her that he and Kelly have not yet reached a decision.

"I've already started the treatment"

“Well, you’d better hurry up,” she warns him, “I’ve already started the treatment – I’ve been taking hormone tablets, for the last couple of weeks.”

"So when you asked us to consider it . . ."

Jason realises that when she asked him and Kelly to consider it, she was already doing so.

"Jason, I know what I want"

“Jason, I know what I want, and I think you do, too,” she declares,

"This is all moving too fast"

but this is moving too fast for Jason.   “Why waste time?” she demands,

"I've made you an appointment at the clinic"

“That’s why I’ve made you an appointment at the clinic, so you can give a sample.   If things are all right with that, the treatment can carry on and we’ll know in a few weeks if it has worked.”

"You should have told me!"

Jason cannot get his head around this;  “You should have told me!” he complains, but she replies that she is telling him now, and the appointment is tomorrow.   “I can’t just drop everything when you decide – I’ve got a job on!” he tells her.

This is irrelevant to Sara;  “Tomorrow’s perfect for me – right, the details are in here.”   She puts down an envelope.

"I'm not going near any clinic!"

Jason tells her quite emphatically, “I’m not going near any clinic tomorrow!”

"Well, you know what will happen, then"

so she reminds him what will happen in that case, and walks out of the house.

Jason reads all the details

He opens the envelope and reads its contents with a very stern expression.
