Tesni is not happy

Tesni is looking glumly at her phone when Aled comes downstairs;  “Who’s stolen your lip gloss, then?” he asks.   

"I won't be able to cover this month's costs"

She explains that the girl she recruited has pulled out, and now she will not be able to cover this month’s costs.  

"You have to stop this business"

“Right, this is ridiculous,” he tells her, “You have to stop this business before you get into more debt!”

She proposes trying Guto's joint

Her answer to this is to take out the tin of drugs she found in Guto’s room, and she asks if Aled wants to share it.   

"I've got a cockapoo to clip this afternoon"

“I’ve got a cockapoo to clip this afternoon, and I don’t know what sort of job I’d do, after smoking a joint!” he answers, “Aren’t you going to work?”

"I've told Siôn I'm ill"

She says that she is ill, and he protests that she cannot hide from Siôn for ever;  Tesni tells him that it is one secret after another with him, but he knows from experience that it is not worth the hassle,  

"Talk to Siôn, please!"

“Talk to Siôn, please,” he urges.

Sara is ready for her 'softening up' exercise

Sara is relaxing with a glass of wine and a magazine when Jason returns from APD;  she tells him that Ifan is watching ‘Deian a Loli’ upstairs.   

"Bit early for you, isn't it?"

He considers that it is rather early for her to be drinking, and she points out it is almost lunchtime.

“We had all-dayers all the time in Australia, remember?” she continues, 

"Do you want a glass with me?"

“Do you want a glass with me?”   

"I've got work to do, Sara"

He indicates that he has work to do, but she whines, “Just a small one, please – you work too hard – sit down and I’ll get you one.”   He says that he must only have one, or he will not be able to work out any of the VAT.

Sioned is packing many items

Eifion finds Sioned busy, packing all sorts of things for their holiday;  “This time tomorrow, we’ll be swimming in the Med,” he says, but Sioned would prefer to be drinking cocktails on the beach.   “Why are you taking all that stuff?   You only need a bikini and flip-flops,” he informs her, 

"Plenty of time to print them out"

adding that he has not printed the tickets yet, but they have plenty of time.   

"Make sure you do, Eifion!"

She seems anxious that he should have them.

"Don't forget to watch my tutorial:

Tesni is recording another of her instructional sessions;  “Don’t forget to watch my tutorial on smokey eyes.   I used the Autumn Tiger palette – and if you’re interested in buying any products, remember to message me – thanks for watching.”

Siôn's message makes her feel guilty

Then a message arrives on her phone from Siôn;  “I’m just checking how you’re feeling,” he says, and she looks guilty.

The plaster is coming off already

Hywel is wielding a brush and dustpan;  he complains, “That’s the third time today I had to tidy up in there!   The plaster’s cracking – it’s only been on the wall two weeks, and it’s coming off.   

"That's what happens when you use cowboys!"

“That’s what happens when you use cowboys, instead of forking out.   I don’t think they sealed the wall before plastering.”

"I don't know anything about plastering"

She argues that she does not know anything about plastering, and he instructs her, “Well, it needs to be done – and properly this time – which means APD!”   She wants him to go, but he refuses, 

"You organised the job, you sort it out"

pointing out that she organised the job, therefore she should sort it out, 

She is not looking forward to this

a prospect which she does not relish.

Mark is on his round

Mark has just delivered post to the house next door to Cysgod y Glyn when his phone sounds;  

“All right, gorgeous?” he says, “Tell me again, slowly – where – on the M4?   Are you all right?   

"Have you got breakdown cover?"

“Have you got breakdown cover or what?   How much will it be?   

"OK, I'll pay"

“OK, I’ll pay, and you can pay me back – you were on your way to see me, anyway – text me your bank details.”

"What's wrong, Kath?"

At Maes-y-Deri, Brynmor can sense that something is wrong with Kath, 

"Have you noticed anything different about me?"

and she asks, “Have you noticed anything different about me today?”   He protests that he is not good with hairstyles and things, and remarks that she is as beautiful as ever, 

"The ring – you haven't lost it?"

then notices she is not wearing her ring, and is worried that she has lost it.

"I can't wear it around the place – at £15,000!"

“Oh no, thank goodness!” she replies, “But I can’t wear it around the place now that I know it’s worth £15,000!”   

"How do you know that?"

He wonders how she knows that and she explains that she looked it up online;  

"Edwards in Carmarthen, yes?"

“Edward’s in Carmarthen, yes?”

He enquires why she would do that;  “You said that you liked the ring – what does it matter how much it cost?”   

"That is far too much, Brynmor"

She emphasises that it matters to her and that it is far too much;  she demands where he got his hands on £15,000.   

"I had it and I wanted to spend it on you!"

“I had it and I wanted to spend it on you!” he says in exasperation.

“I knew you weren’t struggling, but it’s so much, Brynmor,” Kath insists, 

"There's no point being engaged if you don't wear it"

but he simply wanted to get her something special, and is worried that she is not going to wear it.   

He maintains there is no point in being engaged if she will not wear it, 

"What's the point if I don't know where you got the money?"|

and she exclaims, “What’s the point if I don’t know where you got the money?”   

"That's all I have to say, Kath!"

He informs her that it was savings, and he has nothing else to say on the matter.

"Remember when we gatecrashed that party?"

Sara is still working on her devious plan, sitting on the floor, reminding Jason of the occasion they gatecrashed a birthday party on the beach, and went on the bouncy castle.   

"Get off there, you pair of drongos!"

Jason remembers the exact words, “Oi, mate – what you think you’re doing, mate?   Get off there, you pair of drongos!” and that he was not happy.

This causes some mirth

They laugh as they remember the occasion, and Jason would love to be on a beach now.   “Everything was so much easier out there,” sighs Sara, 

"Sorry if I've made things difficult"

then adds, “Sorry if I’ve made things a bit awkward between you and Kelly.”

"Kelly says what she thinks"

Jason agrees that Kelly says what she thinks, rather like Ned Kelly.   “We understand each other though, don’t we?” says Sara, 

Sara moves towards him

and, moving closer to him, goes on, “Just being here with you, me, Ifan . . .”   He wants to know what she is doing, 

"It feels right, doesn't it?"

and she maintains, “It feels right, doesn’t it?” 

As she kisses him . . .

as she kisses him, 

. . . Kelly witnesses the scene

predictably at the very second that Kelly comes in through the door.

She is overcome with indignation . . .

With a look of unalloyed fury, Kelly rushes at Sara 

A rather ferocious tussle takes place . . .

and a brief, if rather vicious,

. . . between Kelly and Sara . . .

 scuffle ensues, 

. . . in which Kelly gains the upper hand . . .

following which Kelly disappears upstairs, 

. . . and Sara nurses some scratches

and Sara nurses her injuries.

Gaynor arrives at APD

Izzy is surprised to see her mother in APD;  “Is it possible for APD to do some work for me at Llwyncelyn?” Gaynor asks, “Are Mathew or Jason around, so I can explain exactly what I want?”

"I deal with the customers now"

Izzy takes great delight in explaining that she deals with the customers now, and asks what exactly is the problem.   

"The work needs to be redone"

Her mother explains, “Things didn’t go exactly as I hoped with the plastering job – the work needs to be redone.   Can APD do it?”

"Mam wants us to fix the plastering"

Grinning, Izzy points out that they are the pros, then Mathew comes in and is gleefully informed by Izzy that her mother wants them to fix the plastering job at Llwyncelyn.   She cannot resist adding, “You would have saved money by having reliable people do it in the first place!”

"We'll come over and give you a quote"

Mathew agrees that they will come over and give her a quote, then they can start as soon as possible;  he would like to take some details of the job.

Kelly is distraught

Kelly is looking rather distraught when Jason comes downstairs 

"Sara's staying with Cassie"

and informs her, “I’m taking Sara’s stuff – she’s staying with Cassie.”   

"Why can't she come and collect her stuff?"

Kelly wonders why she cannot come and collect her stuff, and is told, “Why do you think?   

"I've never seen you like that before"

“She doesn’t want to be assaulted again – I’ve never seen you like that before.”

"But she tried to snog you, Jase!"

Kelly whispers that she is sorry;  “I know that it was wrong, but she tried to snog you, Jase!   I’ve tried to be cool with everything – you wanted to come and live with her — now she wants a child with you!   In my brain, she want you back as well!”

"I certainly don't want another child with her!"

Jason tries to calm her, “Of course – but the thing is, Kelly, I don’t want her back, do I?   I certainly don’t want another child with her – I love you!    I even love that temper of yours!”

"She can wrap you round her little finger"

Kelly whimpers that she is scared, “Because she can wrap you round her little finger – she can, Jason!   

"I can't live with her any more"

“I can’t live with her any more – Ifan, yes, absolutely, 100% – but not Sara!”

"I put you in an impossible position"

He appreciates that he has not made things easy for her and has put her in an impossible position;  now he has to take the stuff over for Ifan, but Sara can wait for the rest.   

"I love you, Kelly"

“I’ll be back soon, OK?   I love you.”

"I knew Mam would make a mess of things!"

Izzy is jubilant;  “I knew Mam would make a mess of things with those plasterers,” but Mathew is adamant that does not matter now, as they are doing the work.   He also points out that she could have been more professional, 

"I deserve to gloat"

but she argues that she deserves to gloat.

"I want you to do the quote"

He instructs, “But no more after today – because I want you to go to Llwyncelyn to do the quote.   All you have to do is to measure up and take photos – it’s the sort of thing you need to learn to do.”   

"You're being a peacemaker, aren't you?"

She suspects that he is being a peacemaker, so that she can ask for the £3,000 towards the cost of a house, 

"The thought never crossed my mind"

but he maintains the thought never crossed his mind.

"I'm going to the Deri for a pint"

At Maes-y-Deri the atmosphere is very frosty as Mark asks if Brynmor fancies a can, but he decides to go to the Deri for a pint instead.   

"Another woman?   Two women?"

Mark considers it strange that Kath is not going with him, and wants to know what has happened;  “What is it?   Another woman?   Two women?   What he’s done must be terrible.”

"It's not your business, Mark"

His mother points out that it is not his business, but then turns off the television 

"What do you know about Brynmor?"

and asks, “What do you know about Brynmor?”   

"What's going on, Mam?"

Mark wants to know what is going on.

Outside Penrhewl, Sioned’s car is being loaded up for the journey, and she is anxious that they have the tickets.   

"They're in my jacket pocket in the car"

“Don’t panic – they’re in my jacket pocket in the car,” Eifion assures her, 

"Can you go and get some aftersun?"

and then she realises she has forgotten to buy aftersun, and wants him to go to the shop to get some.

He refuses, insisting they will get some at the airport, 

"We need to go, Sioned"

and is adamant that they need to go, in case there is a lot of traffic.   

"I have to get a book for the flight"

She runs into the house to get a book for the flight.

Kath has explained about the ring

Kath has explained the situation to Mark, and he says, 

"Most women would be happy"

“Most women would be very happy if a man spent that much on a ring.”   

"Kath Jones is not most women"

She replies that she is not most women, and demands what Mark knows about Brynmor.   

"He used to give people backhanders"

“I don’t know whether it’s true or not, but he used to give people backhanders – when he was on the council, so that things went his way.”

Kath is under the impression that is how most councillors work, and Mark continues, “He must have got the money from somewhere.”   

"Has he been stealing – or dealing drugs?"

Kath wonders whether he has been stealing, or dealing in drugs, and is determined to find out somehow.   

"Men like that are good at covering their tracks"

“Men like that are good at covering their tracks,” Mark warns.

Then his phone sounds;  “Are you go to tell me who this woman is?” his mother asks, and he explains that she is not from the area.   They met online, and that was where the bottles came from.

He says, “We were supposed to meet up today, but she had a blowout on the M4 – she’s going back to Singapore tomorrow – she’s an air hostess.”   

"At least one one of us is having some luck"

Kath is glad that at least one of them is having some luck with their love life, but he is confident they will find out the truth about Brynmor.

The car will not start

Sioned appears to be having trouble starting the car, and Eifion asks her to check the car is in neutral.   

"I'm not stupid!"

Of course it is – I’m not stupid!” she answers, “It’s been struggling for a few weeks.”

He wants her to open the bonnet, but she protests that even if he fixes it, 

"Go and get your car"

it is not safe enough to take them to the airport.   “What are we going to do?   We’ll miss the flight!” he shouts, and she instructs him to go and get his car from Deri Fawr.

"Take the cases out of the boot"

He tells her to take the cases out, so they can load them into his car and go straightaway, then hurries off across the fields.   

Sioned ensures she has her ticket . . .

Sioned makes sure that she has her ticket, 

. . . removes Eifion's case and jacket . . . 

then takes his case and jacket out of the car.   

. . . looking very pleased with herself

Looking triumphant, she puts on her safety belt, and, surprisingly, the car starts first time.   

She drives away from the farm . . . 

As she drives out of the farmyard, 

. . . as Eifion shouts ineffectually

Eifion notices and shouts after her, but with no effect.   She is laughing at his misfortune.

"What Sara said is right . . ."

Kelly is sitting in front of her laptop when Jason returns;  “I want a word with you,” he begins, then rephrases, “I’ve been thinking – what Sara said is right – 

". . . it would be nice for Ifan to have a brother or sister"

“it would be nice for Ifan to have a brother or sister.”   

"You want a baby with her"

Kelly believes that he wants another baby with Sara, but he urges her to let him finish.

"A little Jason or Kelly – or both"

“We were talking about you and me having a little Jason or Kelly – or both – running around,” but she points out that will be in the future, perhaps.   “I just wanted to check, that’s all – that we’re still on the same page.   We could start practising now, couldn’t we?   Because it could take a long time.”

"Slow down – I've got deadlines, Jase"

Kelly, now beginning to smile, encourages him to slow down, as she has deadlines to meet.   

"Or I could put the kettle on"

He has another suggestion, that he could put the kettle on, 

Kelly looks worried

and as he does so, Kelly looks worried.

Siôn calls in to see the patient

There is a knock on the door at number 10, and Tesni discovers that Siôn has come to see her;  “I thought I’d call in to see the patient,” he says, “You’re not too ill for a piece of cake, I hope.”

"I'm feeling a lot better"

She says she is feeling a lot better, 

"There's no need to rush back to work"

and he is not expecting her to rush back to work.   Then she does at last manage to summon up the courage 

"I've done something terrible, Siôn"

to tell him, “I’ve done something terrible – I’m not ill, and I couldn’t come to work because I didn’t want to see you.   I’m scared to tell you, because I really like working in the shop with you.”

"It can't be that bad"

He is sure that it cannot be that bad, and asks her to explain.   

"I used the money to pay off my credit card"

“I used the money for the course to pay off my credit card – I feel terrible – I’m so sorry!” she wails.

"I was stupid to think you could respect me"

He is extremely disappointed;  “I’ve done so much for you – I didn’t have to – I was stupid to think you could somehow respect me.   You don’t, or you wouldn’t have stolen from me.”   She alleges that she will get the money back for him, but he tells her to grow up.

"Do you want me to work tomorrow?"

She asks if he still wants her to work in the shop tomorrow, 

"What do you think?"

but he replies, “What do you think?” and leaves the house.   Tesni is in tears

The scratches inflicted by Kelly are visible

Sara, with the marks of the tussle on her face, picks up her phone and dials a number;  

"I'd like to talk to the police, please"

“Hello, I’d like to talk to the police, please.”
