"We could have our wedding in The Glyndwr"

As they come round the corner by the medical centre, Sara is informing Dylan that The Glyndwr is having a refurb;  “Perhaps we can view that as a wedding venue, when it’s finished,” she suggests.

"Could do, I suppose"

He unenthusiastically agrees that it is a possibility.

"Is it odd to use the same place where I married Jason?"

“Do you think it’s odd for us to get married in the same place I married Jason?” she asks, and at this moment his phone rings.

"I wasn't expecting to hear from you"

He waits until Sara is out of earshot before answering it;  he was not expecting to hear from the person who is calling, and gives the excuse that he is busy,

"I'll see you outside the flat"

but then agrees to see them outside the flat.

Garry is planning a flight to New York

In the Deri, Garry is looking at the website of flyforless.com, which is showing flights from Heathrow to JFK in New York.   As the door opens, he moves away, negligently omitting to close the laptop,

Cassie can hardly miss that, can she?

which is in full view of Cassie as she walks in;  she cannot fail to notice it.

“Please tell me you’re going on holiday with Dani,” she sharply reprimands him,

"Bit OTT to take your mistress to New York?"

“Isn’t it a bit OTT to take your mistress to new York?”

"Don't call her that"

He objects to Cassie calling Jaclyn that, but does look rather guilty.

"Where were you last night – with Luned?"

At Llwyncelyn, Gaynor asks Rhys, “Where were you last night – with Luned?   You could have texted.”   He confirms that he was and is surprised to see that a bottle of champagne is on the table with it only being lunchtime.

"Your father's dropping out of the election"

“I thought you were drinking less now that lockdown is easing,” he remarks, but she enlightens him that his father has decided to drop out of the election.

"He enjoys spending time with us"

“He enjoys spending time with us, and wants to be around more,” she explains, “Some good things can come out of this strange time after all – so we’re celebrating, in a way.”

"Dad – putting family first?"

Rhys is incredulous that his father should be putting family first and makes it clear that he will not be around at lunchtime, as he is not in the mood for celebration.   Gaynor looks puzzled at his attitude.

"I've invited Dylan over"

Jaclyn is at home, looking through the post when Gerwyn asks if she is doing anything today;  “A pile of ironing and preparing something nice for lunch,” she glumly replies, “Because I’ve invited Dylan over.”

Gerwyn cannot believe that she is serious, but she reminds him that Dylan took a beating during the burglary, and she wants to check that he is all right.

"I don't want him here, Jacs!"

“I don’t want him here, Jacs!” Gerwyn shouts, and he storms out of the house.

He slams the door behind him

As she sits, looking distressed,

Garry creeps in the back door

Garry slips in via the back door;  she demands what he is doing there, says unconvincingly that she is OK and that Dylan is all right.

"I've missed you"

“I’ve missed you,” he tells her, and assures her that Cassie will not say a word about what she saw the other day.

"I can't let people down"

She appears to be losing interest;  “It was a wake-up call – people rely on me and I can’t let them down,” Jaclyn protests, but he cannot accept that she means it.

“Why aren’t you being honest with yourself?” he queries, but she does not want him telling her what to do.

"There's more than this – if you want it"

He goes on, “I’m not saying you have to choose me, but there’s more than this – if you want it.

He takes a paper from his pocket . . .

He takes a folded paper from his pocket

. . . and places it near the family photo

and puts it down by a photo of Jaclyn’s family, tells her, “I’ll see you,” and leaves the way he came.

Dylan awaits the arrival of his contact

In the alley, Dylan is leaning on the wall when the person who phoned approaches;  Sioned asks, “I heard about the robbery – are you OK?”

"Moved back to the shop flat, have you?"

He confirms that he is and assumes that she has moved back to the shop flat.

It is merely a convenient meeting place

“Not quite,” she answers, “Mathew’s away working all day, and I’ve still got a set of keys.   There’s no peace at Penrhewl.”

Dylan follows her inside

She goes into the flat and Dylan follows her.

"What's happened, Rhys?"

As Rhys is leaving Llwyncelyn, Gaynor is keen to have a word with him;  “What’s happened?   Come on,” she encourages him.

"Do you know what Dad did to Ffion?"

“Do you know what Dad did to Ffion?” he demands, “Of course, you don’t – because he didn’t tell you either!

"He forced her to finish with me"

“He forced her to finish with me – he’s known for months that she’s been drinking and has cirrhosis.   And instead of helping her, he forced her to finish with me – he’s been hiding the truth for months.

"If Ffion hadn't told me, I wouldn't have found out"

“If Ffion hadn’t told me the truth, I would never have found out.”

This revelation shocks Gaynor

This comes as a shock to Gaynor, as indeed it did to Rhys, and she tells him to sit down, as his father is  due back in very shortly, and they can talk about it;  she is sure that there must have been some misunderstanding.

"Dad lied to us again!"

Rhys is emphatic, “There’s no misunderstanding – Dad’s lied to us again,” and leaves the house.

Ffion holds tight to the object in her bag

Ffion comes out of the shop, clutching a bag, as Jason is walking along the street and he greets her.

"It's not what you think – it's a present"

“Before you say anything, it’s not what you think – it’s a present,” she blurts out.   He would like a chat with her.

"You don't need to worry about me, Jason"

“Look, I’m grateful for everything you’ve done for me, Jason, but you don’t need to worry about me, I’m OK,” she tells him.   He looks very dubious about this, so she holds out the bottle-shaped bag and volunteers, “Take this if you don’t believe me.”

"Sara and Dylan are engaged"

“Look, I wouldn’t mind having a chat, if you’ve got time,” he asks her, “I don’t know if you’ve heard, but Sara and Dylan are engaged.”   Ffion was not aware of this, and he continues, “The thing is, I’m not sure if I want to divorce Sara.”

"Our arrangement has to come to an end . . ."

Up in the shop flat Sioned has been told some disappointing news;  she gasps, “So you’re saying our arrangement has to come to an end, because . . .”

". . . because Sara and I are engaged"

Dylan finishes her sentence for her, agreeing that it is because he and Sara are engaged.   In any case, he was under the impression that Sioned did not want to continue things.

Sioned pretends she is not worried

She tries to sound as if she means it as she says, “No, I don’t – I suppose I contacted you today out of habit.”

He maintains that he really wants to make things work with Sara, as he loves her.

She laughs at his protestation of love for Sara

Sioned laughs, and he angrily points out, “I haven’t been in a good place recently.

"A mistake – a bit of fun – nothing more"

“What happened between us was a mistake – a bit of fun – nothing more.”

She tries to look unconcerned . . .

Sioned tells not to worry about it, and he thanks her for understanding.

. . . but inwardly she is seething

She, it appears, far from understanding, is bent on revenge.

"It's just 20 years of my life, isn't it, Ffion?"

In APD, Jason explains to Ffion, “I’m not saying I want her back – our marriage is over – and she ended it.   It’s just 20 years of my life though, isn’t it?   I thought I’d have a houseful of kids by now, not a divorce.”

"Nobody thinks they will get divorced"

Ffion reminds him that nobody thinks they’re going to get divorced when they get married.   He confirms that he is with Kelly now and has never been happier;

"Dylan – there's the problem"

“Dylan – there’s the problem.   I don’t trust him!   There’s something not quite right there, I’m telling you.”

"You just have to trust Sara"

Ffion advises, “You have to trust Sara in that case, and trust that she knows what she’s doing.”

"What if I hadn't deceived her?"

“I keep thinking what would have happened if I hadn’t deceived her the way I did,” he groans, and Ffion admits she has been thinking along the same lines as well.   If she had not started drinking again, perhaps she and Rhys might still be together.

"There's no chance of patching it up"

She is sure that there is no chance of patching up the relationship;  “And deep down, I think it’s the best thing for him.”

"What's wrong with me, Ffion?"

Jason has come to the conclusion that life is sad, then exclaims, “What’s wrong with me?”

"You know it's the end of an era"

She says he is feeling like that because he knows there is no going back now, and that it is the end of an era, just as it is with her and Rhys.

Sioned happens to notice . . .

Sioned comes out of the alley

. . . Sara, along by the Deri

and notices Sara walking past the Deri;  at that moment, DJ approaches and suggests to Sioned that they need to talk.

"Sioned, we need to talk"

“Not now,” she replies, but DJ is insistent;  “I need to have a chat with Sara,” she tells him,

"Her lovely fiancé has been sleeping with me for weeks"

“I want her to know that her lovely fiancé has been sleeping with me for weeks.”

"You didn't think you were the only one?"

DJ is extremely disappointed, but she says, “Come on – you didn’t think you were the only one, did you?”   He wonders why she is doing this, and she snarls, “Because he can’t treat me like this!”

"You don't give a damn about anyone but yourself!"

“Crikey – you don’t give a damn about anyone but yourself, do you?” is DJ’s evaluation of Sioned, and he walks away.

Sioned appears to be having second thoughts

However, she appears to be having second thoughts.

Ffion has a call from the rehab centre

At APD, Ffion has had a phone call from the rehab centre, checking that she was all right;  Jason asks, “And is everything all right?”

"Can you take it away, Jason?"

She confesses that the bottle is not for a friend and asks him to take it away,

He puts it behind the counter

which he willingly does.

“It’s really hard – I wish more than anything that I wasn’t like this,” she wails,
"Nobody's perfect, are they?"

“But there we are – nobody’s perfect, are they?”   Jason agrees with her, stressing that neither Rhys or Sara are perfect.   She thanks Jason for their talk and leaves the shop.
Then Jason picks up the bottle

He picks up the bag containing the bottle.

"Why didn't you tell me about the diagnosis?"

As she crosses the road, she encounters Rhys, who wants to apologise for yesterday and wonders why she did not tell him when she got the diagnosis.   “We both know how terrible I am at being honest about things,” she sighs,

"I don't want things to be weird between us"

“I don’t want things to be weird between us – we can still be friends, can’t we – and civil?”   Rhys would like that,

She heads for Cysgod y Glyn . . .

and she walks slowly homewards.

. . . under the watchful eye of Jason

As Jason emerges from APD and keeps an eye on Ffion across the road, Sara is heading towards him;

"This is for you – and Dylan"

“I was just on my way to Bryntirion, and this is for you,” he says, presenting her with the bottle.   “Well, for you and Dylan on your engagement.”

"You didn't have to, Jason"

She is rather taken aback by this gesture.   He is sure that his parents would like to see her, but she rather doubts that Diane would be.

“You might be changing your surname soon,

"A member of the Ashurst-Francis clan"

“but you’ll always be an honorary member of the Ashurst-Francis clan,” he says, and she agrees that she will accompany him.

DJ is in a decidedly bad mood

DJ is watching the television and looking very serious when Sioned comes into the room;  neither of them make any comment,

Sioned throws down her keys and phone

as Sioned throws down her keys and phone on the table.   Eventually, she tells him that she is sorry;

"Have you lost your tongue, or what?"

“I thought you wanted a chat.   Have you lost your tongue or what?”

"Why are you being so nasty to me?"

He turns off the television and demands, “Why are you being so nasty to me?”

"That's what I'm like when I like someone"

After another pause she repeats that she is sorry and supposes that this is what she is like when she likes someone.

"I thought we were only friends"

“I thought we were only friends,” he adds, and she confirms that they are.

"I thought we were just a bit of fun"

She is sorry if she hurt him, and thought they were just a bit of fun;

"What was so different about Dylan?"

he wonders what was so different about Dylan.   “From your reaction, you must have thought it was more than a fling.”

"I thought he was going to leave Sara for me"

Sioned downheartedly admits, “I thought that we suited each other – I thought he was going to leave Sara for me,” and informs DJ that she did not speak to Sara.

“Perhaps one good thing has come out of you and Dylan,” he suggests, “Now you can see that you’re ready for more than just a fling.”   She does not think so and cannot be bothered with dates, describing them as awkward.

"I'll take you on a date"

“I’ll take you on a date – are you free next week?” offers DJ, and she reminds him that they are meant to be ‘friends’.   “I know that — and you’ve made that perfectly clear,” is his response, “I meant just as friends,” but she is still unwilling.   “I want to show you what a proper date should be like,” he stresses,

"And nothing more?"

and on condition that it involves nothing more, she appears to agree.

Jaclyn has got round to looking at the paper

Jaclyn is looking at the sheet of paper left by Garry, which she finds is the flight booking confirmation;

It is so tempting . . . but . . .

she looks full of trepidation.

She quickly slips it out of sight

When the door opens, she hides the paper under the table mat, and Gerwyn says he can smell the meal cooking.

"Dylan loves it"

“It’s Rogan Josh,” she tells him, “Dylan loves it.”

"I thought Dylan wasn't coming"

He thought that they had agreed Dylan was not coming, but she points out that he was the one who did not want Dylan there,

"He could have been killed the other night"

adding, “You can’t stop me caring about my brother – he could have been killed the other night.”

"It's a shame he wasn't!"

“It’s a shame he wasn’t,” growls Gerwyn, “I’ve been praying for someone to get rid of him for months.   He’s made our life a nightmare!”

"You're the cause of all this!"

Jaclyn, on the other hand, is adamant that Gerwyn himself is the cause of all their problems;  “Here we go – the truth’s coming out at last – everything’s my fault!” Gerwyn exclaims.   She screams that it is his fault, so he accuses her of being blind,

"If you give that pig another chance"

and of being a pushover, if she gives that pig another chance.   “I’ll sort out my own dinner!” he declares and storms out of the house.

She flings the cushions around . . .

Jaclyn is furious and in tears, flinging the cushions from the sofa on the floor

 . . . and shrieks

and shrieking;  she hurries out of the back door.

"Where is he, then?"

Rhys returns to Llwyncelyn, wanting to know where his father is;  he is told by Gaynor that Hywel will be about half an hour.

"We need to hear his side of the story"

“Look, Rhys, I understand that you’ve had a shock – and I’m not trying to excuse what he’s done, but I do think we need to hear his side of the story.”

"I don't want to hear more of his lies"

Rhys has no interest in hearing more of his lies;  “I’m serious – I won’t be back tonight.   I don’t want to discuss this with him, or hear his excuses.   There is no point!   And I don’t want to interfere in your relationship,

"You deserve a lot better, Gaynor"

“but you deserve a lot better, Gaynor – I’ve always thought so.”

Dylan does some tidying of the house

Dylan arrives at number 10, to find the house empty;  after replacing the cushions which have been flung on the floor,

He settles down with a bottle

he gets a bottle from the kitchen cupboard, and opens it.

The sheet of paper is visible

We can see the paper protruding from under the table mat.

Jaclyn arrives at the garage

Jaclyn arrives at the garage, to see Garry, apparently deep in thought;

She asks if Garry is serious

he looks expectantly at her, and she asks, “Are you serious about going away?”

"All I have to do is pack my bag"

“You know I am,” he replies, “The flights have been arranged.   All I have to do is pack my bag.”

"I'd better go and do the same, then"

She decides that she will do the same,

This seems to please Garry

and they smile at each other

Dylan wonders where Jaclyn is . . .

Dylan sits at the table in number 10,

. . . then finds the sheet of paper . . .

notices the sheet of paper and removes it;

. . . and looks rather grim-faced

as he studies the details, he realises what is happening.
