Dani clears up outside the Deri

As Dani is clearing up outside the Deri, Dylan approaches and wants to know where Garry is;  “He’s over with Britt – why?” she replies.

"I have to talk to you, Dani"

He is anxious to talk to her, but she says, “Shame you don’t have a dog –  I’m opening a doggy parlour, and step one is marketing ‘Mynd i’r Coed’.

"Remember that song, 'Two little doggies'?"

Remember that song, ‘Two little doggies going into the woods’?   They deserve to be pampered.”    He tells her it is a good idea, but still is eager to talk to her;

"If it's about the Deri, talk to Garry"

“If it’s about the Deri, talk to Garry,” she answers, but he points out that it is not business – he wants to speak to her in private.   “I’m busy,” she protests.

"Garry's having an affair with Jaclyn"

“This isn’t easy to say, OK?   Garry’s having an affair – he and Jaclyn are running away together!” he announces,

"You're a bit warped, you know, Dylan"

and Dani is incredulous.   She describes Dylan as being a bit warped, and escapes back into the Deri.

"I don't have a future here any more"

Up in the chip shop flat, Garry is telling Britt, “I don’t have a future here any more.   I have to leave, it’s the only way.”

"You can sort things out with Dani"

Britt knows that things have been difficult between him and Dani lately, but is confident they can sort things out.

"I don't love her – and she certainly doesn't love me"

“I don’t love her – and she certainly doesn’t love me, so there’s not much point!” he stresses.   Britt thinks that leaving is rather drastic, but he insists that his mind is made up.

“What about the kids?   What about the businesses?” she demands,

"You sound like a teenager having a strop"

“You sound like a teenager having a strop!”   He assures her that it is not that, explaining that he is in love, and Britt laughs.

'I'm in love – and I'm leaving with her"

“I’m in love with someone,” he repeats, “And I’m leaving with her – I’ve been having an affair.”   Britt wants to know with whom.

Cassie is working on the laptop

Cassie is busy typing on the laptop when Lisa comes downstairs, advising not to keep whoever is texting her waiting;

"The client comes first"

“The client comes first!” Lisa warns, and Cassie says she has decided to quit.   “You can’t – the demand is greater than ever,” Lisa pleads, “Please, Cassie – for me – I can’t manage without you.”

When Cassie makes no reply, Lisa asks if she wants her to move out;

"You still need a roof over your head"

“You still need a roof over your head – and I’m used to seeing your old mug around the place,” answers Cassie.

"Come on – less of the 'old'!"

Lisa would like less emphasis on the ‘old’.

Cassie reluctantly agrees to answer the text,

"This will be the last one"

but is adamant that it will be the last one;  she does not seem to relish the task any more.

The Deri is closed today

Someone has phoned the Deri and Dani gives the excuse that the oven is broken so they will not be opening today.

"Dani, I've seen them more than once"

Dylan has followed her into the bar and continues, “Dani, I’ve seen them more than once.”

"Snogging on the street, were they?"

She wonders if they were snogging on the street, and he informs her that they were in the garage,

"Doing more than discussing MOTs"

“Doing more than discussing MOTs!”

"He's not going to throw that away"

She is becoming angry;  “Dylan, we’ve got children, businesses, a livelihood.   He’s not going to throw that away to be with her!   And I would have noticed.”

"They've booked flights to New York"

Dylan expresses doubt about this;  “They’ve booked flights to New York – they’re leaving on Friday – I’ve seen the tickets.”   Dani suggests that Gerwyn could have bought the tickets, but he responds, “Their names were on them.”

"You must be mistaken"

Dani is persuaded that Dylan is mistaken, and he says that he is sorry, but thought that she ought to know the truth.   “So why are you telling me now,  if you’ve seen them more than once?” she enquires,

"Garry gave me £10,000 to keep quiet"

and he replies that Garry gave him £10,000 to keep quiet.

“Have you got proof?   A bank transfer or something?” she asks, and Dylan reminds her that Garry is not stupid – it was in cash, and he has said what he came to say – now it is up to her.

"New York?   Wow!"

She urges him not to go, and, after some thought, exclaims, “New York?   Wow!”

Sioned has a surprise at Penrhewl

Sioned comes downstairs in the farmhouse, remarking, “That was the most random text I’ve ever had – ‘Wear something smart and don’t come down until I tell you’.”

She finds that DJ has prepared afternoon tea for them, and he tells her that she looks nice;

"Well, we're not going out"

“Remember I said I’d take you out?   Well, we’re not going out.”

"Retro sweets and now afternoon tea!"

She comments that she has had retro sweets and now afternoon tea.

“And it’s only lunchtime,” he adds,

"It's not the cheap stuff, either"

“Would madam like some bubbles?” as he takes a bottle of champagne from the fridge.   “It’s not the cheap stuff either.   Sit down and pitch in.”

Sioned seems uncomfortable

Sioned looks slightly uncomfortable.

"Jaclyn's behind all this, is she?"

“New York?” demands Britt, and Garry explains that Jaclyn has always wanted to go there.   “Oh, Jacs – I see, she’s behind all this, is she?” Britt comments.

"It's what we both want"

He maintains that it is what they both want, but Britt is rather scathing;  “Because you’ve always said that you want to go to New York!”

"I've never felt like this before"

“I know it sounds odd, but I’ve never felt like this before,” he says, “Not with Dani, and not even with Sheryl.”

"Have you thought of Gwern and Seren?"

His sister demands whether he has thought of Gwern and Seren;  will he be taking them with him,

"They can stay here until we decide what to do"

and he replies, “They can stay here until we decide what to do next.”

“They’re not pieces in a game of chess, Gar,” Britt reminds him,

"They'll be fine, Britt"

and he is confident that they will be fine, as they have Dani, her and Colin.

"What has Dani got to say about this?"

“And what has Dani got to say about all this?” is her next question.

"She doesn't know yet"

Then he reveals that Dani does not know yet;  he will tell her the day they leave – Friday.   “No way – come on, Gar, that’s not fair!” Britt snarls, “You’ve been deceiving her and now you’re not going to tell her until you’re about to leave?”   He is insistent that he has to do this his way and needs his sister’s support.   She does not look at all happy at the situation.

"I've been waiting for him to cheat on me again"

Dani admits to Dylan, “I’ve been waiting for him to cheat on me again – he slept with Sioned.   When did you say they’re going?”   He confirms that it is Friday, but argues that together he and Dani can stop them.

“I need your help, Dani,” he says,

"You must speak to Jaclyn"

but she advises him to speak to Jaclyn;  he answers that she will not listen to him,

"You have to get Garry to change his mind"

and that Dani must persuade Garry to change his mind.

“No,” she says, and expresses doubt as to whether she wants to stop them;

"Thanks for coming – you can go now"

“Thank you for coming over – you can go now.   Dylan cannot believe that she is just going to let Garry go off with another woman.

"I need some time to think . . ."

“I didn’t say that, but I need some time to think,” Dani decides,

". . . and I'm not sure what will happen then"

“And I’m not sure what will happen then.”   He walks out without another word.

"I want you to look after the business"

“I want you to look after the business,” Garry tells Britt, “Not just the Deri – the garage too.   Don’t worry, I’ll go through everything with you – receipts, insurance, invoices.”

"Are you sure about this, Gar?"

She demands whether he is sure about this, and he confirms that she is the only one he trusts.

"This is what I want"

“I’ve lost sleep thinking about all this, but this is what I want,” he goes on, and Britt realises that he really loves Jaclyn.   He adds, “This isn’t going to be for ever – I just need time with Jaclyn away from here.   Living under Dani’s and Gerwyn’s noses isn’t fair, is it?”

"It's lovely to see you so happy"

“If you’re sure this is what you want – it’s lovely to see you so happy, to be honest,” Britt smiles,

He explains all the business details

and he starts to explain what she needs to know.

"A little bird told me about you and Tyler"

Outside number 10 Tesni tells Aled, “A little bird told me about you and Tyler – what happened, then?”

"One thing led to another"

He says that one thing led to another, and now they are official.

"I don't want to lose a mate like you"

“You won’t forget about me now that you’re attached?” she asks, “I don’t want to lose a mate like you.”

He is glad that she decided not to go to college, and she tells him she just does not fancy going this year, but is undecided what she will do;

"No job, no money – great, isn't it?"

“I don’t have a boyfriend, no job, no money – great, isn’t it?”

They see Lisa heading towards number 9

They watch as Lisa walks along the other side of the road;  “You know who she is, don’t you?” asks Aled, “What her job is?”

Tesni thinks she looks like an estate agent

Tesni suggests that she looks like an estate agent,

"Sexting!"

and is informed, “Sexting!   Kath told me – she started during lockdown.”

"She looks so respectable"

Tesni says that she looks so respectable, and Aled points out, “You never know what goes on behind closed doors.   Kath says she’s a big hit – and makes loads of money, too.”

Has Tesni detected a source of income?

The mention of money obviously sets Tesni thinking.

Sioned reminisces about her childhood

Sioned recalls that she used to play tea party with her toys when she was young;  “The teddies and dollies would sit around the table with little menus.   I’d make sandwiches and cakes out of clay, dress as a waitress and take their orders.

"I don't know why I'm telling you this"

“I don’t know why I’m telling you this – it’s a bit embarrassing.”

DJ confesses that he used to do the same sort of thing when he watched Wales playing rugby;

DJ had his teddies watching rugby . . .

“I would get all the teddies and toys out to watch the match, and give them a pint each.

" . . .but don't tell anyone!"

“I’ve never told anyone that.”    Sioned promises not to reveal anything.   There is one cake left,

"No, I'm absolutely stuffed"

but Sioned cannot manage another thing, so they will leave it for her mother;  however, she is sure she can find room for more champagne.

Garry reaches for his credit card

After giving Britt all the instructions, Garry presents her with a credit card, for use only in an emergency;  “You know the PIN – Brandon’s date of birth.   Don’t worry, I have more than enough.”

"Dani won't want me near the Deri"

She asks, “What about Dani?   She won’t want me near the Deri after youve gone,”

"I've asked Cassie to be the manager"

and he advises that he has asked Cassie to be the manager.

"So Cassie knew before me?"

“So Cassie knew everything before me?” Britt realises, but he stresses that Cassie will be the one running the Deri.

"You'll be keeping your eye on everything"

“You’ll be keeping an eye on everything,” he tells her, and she warns that Danny will want her share if they get divorced.   “We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it,

"Now all that matters is Jaclyn"

 for now all that matters is Jaclyn,” he insists.

Britt is becoming tearful, as she is going to miss her brother, but he assures her that he will only be a phone call away.

"It won't be the same as having you across the street"

“It won’t be the same as having you across the street,” she says.   He reminds her that she has Colin and Aaron, and ought to be going back across to the Deri now.

"You deserve to be spoiled, Sioned"

“It’s been a long time since I had a treat like this,” Sioned remarks, and DJ says that she deserves to be spoiled.   Her mother arrives and wonders what is going on;  she has never seen DJ looking so smart.

"Am I interrupting something?"

She suddenly gets the impression that she is interrupting something, but DJ denies this, and points out that there is a cream horn left for her.   “The champagne and you both being dressed up,” she begins,

"It's not a date or anything like that"

but DJ clarifies that they are not on a date or anything like that;

Does she look a trifle disappointed?

he just thought that Sioned deserved a treat.   Eileen describes him as real gent, and has to go to collect Huwi-John.

"No, Sioned, you just take it easy"

DJ will not accept any assistance from Sioned;

She smiles sweetly at him

“I said I’d treat you, and that’s what I’m going to do.”

"I heard your business is doing well"

Tesni visits number 10, hoping to have a word with Lisa;  “I’ve heard that your business is doing well,” she begins,

"What exactly do you want?"

and Lisa wants to know exactly what she wants.   “I’m just doing some research,” Tesni continues, and Lisa suspects she wants to steal her business.

"Everyone needs money"

Tesni continues that everyone needs money;

"You wouldn't know where to start, good girl"

“You wouldn’t know where to start, good girl,” is Lisa’s patronising answer,

Tesni is about to leave the house

and Tesni turns to leave the house, but is then encouraged to stay for moment.   “Would you like a job?” Lisa asks, but Tesni reminds her that she does not have a clue.

"You're a bit rough, but we can sort that out"

“And I was right, but I would train you – share my expertise.   You’re a bit rough, but I’m sure we could sort that out.   You’ve got guts – I like that.   So, what do you say?”

She proffers a "Melissa' card

She hands over one of her ‘Melissa’ cards.

Garry and Dani some time ago

Dani  is looking at a photo of herself and Garry in Bethania when he returns to the Deri flat;  she asks if Britt is OK.

Britt worries about everything

He replies, “You know what she’s like – she worries about everything, but she’ll be all right.”   Dani knows that because she is a Monk.

"Why did you do that?   We can't afford it"

He is not happy to hear that she cancelled the opening of the Deri today;  “Why did you do that?  We can’t afford to lose business.”   She points out that it is only one day, and he was not there anyway.

"I've been doing some research"

“But I haven’t been sitting down, doing nothing – it’s given me some time to do research.   I learned a lot.”

He is sure that if anyone can make a success of the ‘Mynd i’r Coed’ business, it is her.

"Garry, you would be honest with me, wouldn't you?"

“It’s nice that you have faith in me,” she goes on, “Garry, you would be honest with me wouldn’t you?   You would say if you thought it wasn’t going to work.”

"Everything will be all right – trust me"

He admits that nothing is guaranteed, but he thinks that everything will be all right;  “Trust me,” he stresses.

"I trusted you before . . ."

Dani muses, “Well, that’s a risk, you see, because I trusted you before – but, no, you’re right,

"We need to sort out this whole affair . . ."

we need to sort out this whole ‘affair’ . . . with the dogs.   I can’t wait.”

He had thought Dani was on to him

Garry, who had previously been looking rather apprehensive, now breaks into a smile,

Dani is not smiling

but Dani is most definitely not smiling.
