Garry peers through the underwear

Garry opens the back gate of number 10 to find Jaclyn hanging out the washing;  “I had to see you,” he says,

"What if Gerwyn and the kids were home?"

and she asks him what would have happened if Gerwyn and the kids were at home.

"I can't wait until Friday"

“They’re not, are they?” he goes on, “I can’t wait until Friday.”

"When are we going to tell Gerwyn and Dani?"

“When are we going to tell Gerwyn and Dani?” is Jaclyn’s next question, and he replies that if they leave it until the morning they leave, there will be less hysterics.

“In a couple of days it will all be behind us – and life will never be the same, I promise you that,” he assures her.   He walks out through the gate, closing it behind him.

Eifion is sleeping on the job

At Penrhewl, Eileen finds Eifion asleep on the sofa and shouts for him to wake up;  “There’s no need to shout,” he tells her, and she protests that she has been out doing his work,

Eileen is very scathing

whereas he has done nothing but drink pints and paracetamol since he came back.

Eifion relates his tale of woe

He maintains that he has been hurt;  “You do remember that Izzy slept with Mathew, my own cousin, behind my back?”

Eileen points out to him that Izzy is not the only one who has been cheating;

"I've been talking to Cadno"

“I’ve been talking to Cadno, and she’s told me everything – what was this woman’s name?”   He alleges that he cannot remember.   “So Cadno and Steve put a roof over your head, and what did you do?   You brought some woman into their home overnight during a lockdown.”

"She didn't stay all night"

He argues that she did not stay all night, but left at about six, before her boyfriend noticed.

"You came here because Cadno threw you out!"

Eileen has him summed up;  “You didn’t come here to apologise, did you?   You came here because Cadno threw you out.”

"I was going to come back anyway"

Eifion explains that, although Cadno did this, he intended to come back anyway.   Eileen summarises, “So you cheated on Izzy and lied to me –

"Pack your bags – I want you out!"

“pack your bags – I want you out!   I should never have let you come back here.”   When he demands where he is to go, she replies, “I don’t know, and what’s more, I don’t care!”

Dani has been vacuuming

As Dani is putting away the vacuum cleaner, Garry comes into the room;  he says that he called into the salon.

At last they are talking about the salon

“I think there’s enough room without having to move the back wall.   We might have to widen the front door a bit, but it’s your decision.”

"I know . . .about you and Jaclyn"

Dani announces, “I know . . . about you and Jaclyn.”

Garry looks concerned

He looks disturbed as she continues, “I didn’t think she was your type.”

"Who told you?"

After a very long pause, Garry demands who told her.

"Aren't you even going to try and deny it?"

“Aren’t you even going to try and deny it?” she asks,

"Disappear in the middle of the night?"

“So, exactly what was the plan?   To disappear in the middle of the night?”

"I was going to tell you, Dani"

He says that he was going to tell her, but she wants to know, “When?   Because you had your chance yesterday.”

He wonders why, if she knew, she did not say anything then,

"You were too much of a coward!"

and Dani explains, “I wanted to give you a chance to be honest with me – but you couldn’t – you were too much of a coward!   How could you?   After everything?   We’ve worked so hard to stay together, and you’ve throw it all away –

"Cwmderi's Miss Country and Western!"

“for Jaclyn Parry, Cwmderi’s Miss Country and Western!   What can she give you that I can’t?”

He maintains that it is not that simple;  Dani snarls, “You’re leaving your children for her, so she must be really special.   So what is it?   The high-waisted jeans?   The anorak?   Come on, tell me!”

"When I'm with her, I'm happy"

He says that he does not know the answer, but when he is with her he is happy;  “I can’t help how I feel.”   He alleges that the affair has been going on for a couple of weeks.

"You're leaving us after a couple of weeks?"

“You’re leaving us after a couple of weeks?” she demands, but he says that it feels right – he cannot explain it,

"I don't want to upset you, Dani"

and does not want to upset Dani.

"I'm not upset – I'm angry!"

“Oh Garry, I’m not upset – I’m angry, so don’t expect me to cry, because you don’t deserve my tears.

Griffiths tries to avoid Lisa

Ieuan Griffiths comes round the corner by the chippy when he notices Lisa, and tries to avoid her, with the excuse, “I can’t stop – I’ve got a very important meeting.”

"Your secret is safe with me, Ieuan"

She assures him that his secret is safe with her, as she is running a professional business and it will not go any further.

"It spoils the fun, you see"

He is rather worried, explaining,” We know each other – it spoils the fun, you see.   I’m sorry, I won’t be using you again, OK?”

"I've got a new girl"

Lisa answers, “You won’t to be talking to me next time – I’ve got a new girl,

"I think you'll like what you hear"

“and I think you’ll like what you hear, too.”

"You've got a track record of hurting me"

Dani continues, vituperatively, “You’ve got a track record of hurting me, Garry, and I’m used to it, right, but how can you do this to the kids?”

He intends taking the children to Disneyland

He is adamant that he will always be there for them, and after he has been away for a while, he will be taking them to Disneyland, Paris.

"They don't need Mickey Mouse, they need a father!"

“Disneyland, where everything’s rosy they don’t need Mickey Mouse, they need a father!” she shouts, and he confirms that they will have one.

"Gwern can come and live with me"

“Once I’ve settled back here, Gwern can come and live with me,” he declares, and Dani is sure that Jaclyn will be thrilled, starting again with a teenager.   “She’s willing to do whatever makes me happy,” Garry points out.

“Garry, this is his home – if you love him, you wouldn’t do this to him,” but he stresses that Gwern is his son, not hers.

"Yes, when it suits you!"

“Yes, when it suits you,” she comments, “You’re going to break his heart – but there we are, that’s fine because you know best – as his ‘father’.”

"Gaynor, wait a minute"

Colin hurries out of the shop and chases after Gaynor;  “Your card didn't go through,” he says, “It’s probably some technical hitch.

"You can pay next time"

“Don’t worry for now, just pay next time – but don’t tell Kath Jones.   You haven’t got any financial problems, have you?”

Gaynor is sure there must be something wrong with the card, but Colin  can see that something is troubling her.

"Hywel knew that Ffion was drinking"

She confesses, “I’m probably being silly, but Hywel knew that Ffion was drinking again.”

"Everyone knew that, Gaynor"

Colin replies that everyone knew that, as she got arrested.   “No, before that, I mean,” Gaynor continues, “And he didn’t tell me.”

Gaynor is very suspicious

Colin is of the opinion that he was just trying to be a good friend to Ffion, but Gaynor is not convinced.

Now Tesni wants to talk money

At number 9, Tesni informs Lisa that she has had time to think and now wants to discuss money;  she is told that it depends on her success.   “You can have 15% of the profit from every call you get,” Lisa tells her.

"I'm not stupid – I want 30%"

“15%?   I know I'm a lot younger than you, but I’m not stupid,” is Tesni’s reply – “I want 30%.”   After some haggling, they settle on 25%, and Lisa predicts that she will go far.   “OK, when do I start – now?” asks Tesni,

"You'll need some training "

but it is pointed out that she will need some training.

"A degree in 'Talking Dirty'?"

“What do I get at the end of it?   A degree in Talking Dirty  ?” Tesni laughs.

"This is not a cheap dating line"

However she is informed, “The term is ‘suggestively’ – this is not a cheap dating line – we offer a high standard service.”   Tesni is quite sure that she knows what she is doing, as she has always been a bit of a flirt.   “This is different,” growls Lisa, “They’re not innocent little boys at the back of the school bus.”

"The easiest job I've ever had"

Tesni sneers, “Men are men, aren’t they?   How hard can it be?   It’s the easiest job I’ve ever had, if you ask me!”

Garry asks if Seren is all right,

"I'll give you six months, tops"

and Dani snaps, “What’s it to you?” and he replies that he is her father.   “Oh, you remember that, then?   Do you really think you’ll be happy?   I’ll give you six months, tops!” she chuckles.

"You know nothing about Jaclyn and me"

He points out that she knows nothing about him and Jaclyn,

"I know you'll be a laughing-stock"

but she remarks, “I know you’ll be a laughing-stock.   Does Jaclyn know how much you like using your fists?   No?   I’ve tried really hard to forgive you for everything,

"For once, I.m going to say whatever I want

“but you’ve turned your back on us – so I might as well do the same.   For once, I’m going to say whatever I want – to whoever I want – and you can’t stop me.”

"Don't you go anywhere near Jaclyn!"

She walks out of the flat and Garry follows her, shouting, “Don’t you go anywhere near Jaclyn!”

Britt hears the commotion

As Britt is posting a letter in the pillar box she witnesses her brother running after Dani,

"Leave Jaclyn alone!"

ordering her, “Leave Jaclyn alone!   This is between you and me!”

"Someone has to look after Gwern!'

Dani turns and taunts him that she is going to pick Gwern up from football, adding that someone has to look after him, because his father does not.

"I haven't – but she knows . . ."

“So you’ve told her then,” Britt assumes, and he angrily points out that Dani knows,

". . . you didn't tell her, did you?"

and suspects that Dani was told by Britt.   She follows him into the Deri, informing him that she did not say anything, but promised to support him.

A"If you don't trust me, you're on your own!"

She cautions him, “If you don’t trust me, you’re on your own, good boy!”

"It's been a long day, Britt"

and he is forced to apologise, explaining that it has been a long day, and that of course he trusts her.

"That's why I wanted to tell her on Friday"

“That’s why I wanted to tell her on Friday, so there would be no hysterics, drama, and we could just leave.   Perhaps we should go today.”   Britt reminds him that he has not told Gwern yet, and he tries to palm off that responsibility on to her, but with no success.

"That's not my job, Garry"

“You’re not thinking straight – you know that’s not my job!” she asserts, and marches out of the Deri.

"Is that you, Rhys?"

At Llwyncelyn, Hywel hears someone coming into the house and assumes that it is Rhys;  “Sorry to disappoint you,” Gaynor begins, and he moans that Rhys has moved out, having texted to say that he was going to live with Mathew.

"Surely you're not surprised?"

“Surely you’re not surprised?” Gaynor goes on, “Did you really think that he wouldn’t find out?

"You forced Ffion to finish with Rhys"

“Ffion didn’t want to finish with Rhys – you forced her – and then Rhys broke his heart.   Why did you do that, Hywel?”

"I was trying to protest Rhys"

He maintains that he was trying to protect his son;  “You wouldn’t want the girls to live with an alcoholic – it was for Ffion’s sake, too.

"She could concentrate on getting better"

“With Rhys out of the way, she could concentrate on getting better.”

“Or concentrate on you – is there something going on between you?” Gaynor demands, “Are you still in love with her?   Come on, then, answer me.”   He denies this, but stresses that he was worried about her, just as Gaynor would be worried about Colin.   He cannot just turn something like that off.

"What else are you hiding?"

“You haven’t been honest with me – so what else are you hiding?” she wants to know, and he is very reluctant to tell her, so she warns him, “Hywel, if you think anything of me, of this relationship at all, will you please just tell me the truth?”

"I paid for Ffion's rehab as well"

He eventually admits that he paid for Ffion’s rehab as well, and Gaynor looks aghast.

Tesni has her first 'customer'

As Tesni comes downstairs in number 10, her phone is ringing;  she checks to make sure no-one is around, then answers it.

"Hiya, I'm Tasha"

“Hiya, I’m Tasha,” she says, “I’ve been looking forward to your call all day.   You’ve got a lovely voice – really sexy.

"Do you want to know what I'm wearing?"

“Do you want to know what I’m wearing?”

"Fifteen thousand pounds?"

We return to Llwyncelyn, where Gaynor is absolutely furious;  “£15,000?” she shouts, but Hywel assures her that Ffion has promised to pay it all back.   “No wonder my card was refused!” Gaynor yells, but he reminds her that without the rehab, Ffion would have died – it is that simple.

"I couldn't live with that!"

“You might have been able to live with that, but I couldn’t!” he adds.

"It's not your responsibility, Hywel!"

When Gaynor points out she is not Hywel’s responsibility, he replies that she has no one else;  “Val wouldn’t have lifted a finger – and what about Arwen?
Could you have watched her grow up without her mother?   I saw the effect that had on Rhys, and I couldn’t watch it happen again.”

"And I'd do the same thing again!"

“Say what you want, but Ffion’s recovering and Arwen’s home – and I’ll tell you something else – I’d do the same thing again!”   Gaynor shakes her head in disbelief.

Ffion has a visitor . . .

At Cysgod y Glyn, Ffion is surprised to see Eifion walk into the flat with his luggage;  “Are you going on holiday?” she asks.

. . . looking for accommodation

He reveals that he has left Penrhewl, but says it is a long story.   He asks if he can stay there while he sorts himself out.

"I'm still trying to sort things out with Arwen"

“I’m still trying to sort things out with Arwen – we need some space now,” Ffion answers, but he argues that they will not know he is there, which Ffion find quite unbelievable.   He pleads that he has nowhere else to go and that she is his only friend,

She is swayed by his hard luck story . . .

so she agrees that he can stay until he can find somewhere else.

. . . and stresses no alcohol

She makes the stipulation, “I don’t want a drop of alcohol anywhere near the place, all right?”

He says that will not be a problem, and describes her as, “One in a million.”   She leaves to fetch Arwen,

Eifion does not look like being there long

and the first thing he does is to opens a can from his bag and relaxes, with his dirty boots up on the table.

"I dont want Gwern to see us like this"

Garry is looking thoughtful when Dani comes into the room;  he asks, “Where’s Gwern?” and she reports that he is on a sleepover, as she does not want him to see them like this.   Garry will have to wait to speak to his son.   “You haven’t told him, have you?” he says,

"I'm not doing your dirty work, Garry!"

and she makes it perfectly clear that she is not doing his dirty work for him.

"And you'll just shack up with Jaclyn?"

“How long are you going for?” she enquires, but he is not sure of that;  “And after that, will you come back here, shack up with Jaclyn and hope everything will be hunky-dory?”

"I wouldn't do that to you, Dani"

He insists that he would not do that to her, but she complains, “You’ve had an affair – you’ve done that to me.”   Garry does not intend to move back to Cwmderi, predicting that it will be better for everyone that way;  they will find somewhere, and wonders if it matters to Dani where they go.

"You've always been a big fish here"

“Well, you’ve always been a big fish here, haven’t you?   A bad man – a man you never cross.   But the thing is, Garry, nobody else is going to give a damn who Garry Monk is.

"You'll be nobody!"

“You’ll be nobody!”   With that, she walks out of the room,

Garry is thinking again

leaving Garry deep in thought again.

"I can do whatever you want next time"

We appear to have missed most of the X-rated telephone conversation, which Tesni concludes with, “I can do whatever you want next time – anything to keep you happy.   Tara, sexy.”

"I've just been looking at Facebook"

At that moment the front door opens and her mother comes in.   Tesni says she has been looking on Facebook, to see what people are doing;  “Nobody talks to each other on the phone these days, Mam.”

"No broadband here"

Then Jaclyn’s phone rings, and she answers it, “No broadband here – don’t phone again!”   She describes it as another cold call,

"I'll sort out the bins"

and suddenly decides she is going to sort out the bins in the back garden before dinner.

Waiting for her on the bench is Garry

In fact she goes straight out of the back gate, where Garry is waiting for her, again;  he is rather amused by the ‘broadband’ excuse.

"Dani knows"

He informs her, “Dani knows,” and Jaclyn panics that she may be telling Gerwyn in the garage right now, but he reassures her that she will not say a word until Gwern knows.   “I shall have a chat with Gwern in the morning – you talk to Gerwyn, and we’ll leave.”

"The flight is not until Friday"

She reminds him that the flight is not until Friday,

"I'll book new ones if necessary"

and he says that he will book new flights if necessary.

"This time tomorrow, we'll be free!"

“This time tomorrow, we’ll be free!”

Jaclyn smiles

and Jaclyn smiles.
