As they shout Greta’s name and receive no reply, Colin asks if anyone saw which way she went, but of course Cai immediately blames Dani for the child's disappearance.

Dani immediately replies, “If you hadn’t used Seren’s coat!”

Lleucu yells at them both to stop this and look for her.

Lleucu is becoming exasperated; “Stop fighting – OK? Dad, we’ll look for her. You stay here in case she comes back.” She gives her school bag to Colin and sets off on the search,

In the back garden at Llwyncelyn, Tom is fitting a brand-new padlock to the shed when Gaynor brings him a cup of tea.

“You’ve been very busy, haven’t you?” she comments.

He says that he has dug a patch there, for flowerbeds in the summer

and has also been sorting out the mess in the shed.

He will not let Gaynor see inside . . . |
Gaynor is eager to see, but finds the new padlock in place; he assures her that if it is worth doing, it is worth doing properly. The old one was no good – it had rusted through.”

On their trip around the village, Lleucu and Cai can find no sign of Greta; Cai has checked at Bethania and no-one has seen her. “I could strangle that Dani!” he exclaims.
Lleucu tries to calm him down,

but he growls, “Are you trying to make excuses for her?” He is determined that he is going to call the police, but is advised not to do that yet, as she cannot have gone far and Iolo will soon be there.

Dani stares blankly |
Colin is making Dani a cup of tea; “I’ve put an extra sugar in it – listen, I’m not judging or anything, OK?

“I know you’re going through a difficult time at the moment –

“but earlier, in your bag, I saw . . . have you been drinking today?

Dani breaks down in tears . . . |
Dani bursts into tears and he urges her not to get upset;

“I’m just asking because I’m worried about you.”

She sobs, “The pain, Colin – I just can’t . . .” and he assures her that it is all right,

Britt arrives back home |
but at that moment Britt comes in with Kylie and wonders what is going on.

“I haven’t been to Cardiff for years,” Anita tells Ieuan as they sit in the Deri – “I want to go even if you don’t.”

"Is that a good idea?" |
He does not consider it a good idea for her to go on her own, but she insists that she will not be going on her own – there is a whole group going. “Why are you so worried?”

He haltingly answers, “Well, you know . . .” She is quite aware that he does not want to go and maintains that she can manage without him for one night. “But what if something happens?” he demands.

Cai and Lleucu come in on their search

and Anita decides she will ask Cai now if she can book a seat on the coach. “I can’t discuss it now,” he says, but Anita goes on that she only needs one seat and she could pay now.

“Greta is missing – has she been in here?” They have not seen her.

"I'll stay, in case she comes in" |
Ieuan will join the search and Anita will stay in the Deri, in case she comes in there.

Lleucu think that she might have gone home to Y Felin, so Cai will go there, instructing Lleucu to go to the school. Ieuan will continue round the village.

Britt is getting agitated; “Did the Whites do it on purpose?” she snarls, “I would have sorted them out!”

Colin’s attempts to calm her are unsuccessful

and she assures Dani that no one will blame her, not under the circumstances,

but Dani is not so sure of that.

“The point is that Greta ran away – and Cai did not want Dani’s help to look for her,” Colin informs Britt.

"Well, he can find her, then!" |
She flies into a rage again; “Well, he can find her, then!” Colin reminds her that a little girl is missing and it will soon be dark.

"I'll go and look for her" |
Kylie volunteers to go and help look for her; she also thinks that Britt should go with her.
Dani asks Britt to go; “I just want to know that she’s OK,”so Britt agrees.

Dani and Colin are left alone again, with Colin looking very anxious about her.

Out in the garden at Llwyncelyn, Gaynor is looking at some old photos which were found in the shed. “I’d forgotten I had these,” she says,

as Tom gives her a small diary that he has found and she recalls that she was young and full of ideals.
“You haven’t changed much,” he flatters her

and she remembers that they were good days.

She points out that she did not say that; “They were just different –

“and Hywel and I were happy!” Tom definitely did not like that last part.
She gets up and goes over to the shed, wanting to find more treasures,

but he insists that he has already told her she cannot see it until it is perfect and she must not spoil the surprise.

She notices an old garden incinerator that he has unearthed and proposes taking it to the tip,

but he is going to use it to burn a few thing, like garden waste; she regards that as a good idea and is now going to the shop to get some dinner,

asking what he fancies.

“You know, I fancy a steak from the Poxon’s deli!” he replies, but she points out that they will have to go to Swansea to get that. “We can make a night of it – that bottle of Primitivo you like.”

She agrees that he needs a little treat after all that hard work he is doing.

Britt is searching along the back street behind the shop, calling, “Auntie Britt here, love – come out, if you’re hiding.”

She notices that the back gate of the houses is open, so glances inside and catches a sight of Greta.

Greta is hiding in a corner and asks, “Is Uncle Cai angry with me?”

Britt replies that no one is angry with her

and gets out her phone to report her discovery, then has second thoughts,

"How about chips and nuggets?" |
suggesting, “Do you want a treat? Do you want to come back to our place for chips and nuggets?” Greta cannot resist that sort of invitation and they walk cautiously along the back street to the MFC flat.

Anita is sitting anxiously in the Deri when Ieuan returns, but reports there is no sign of her; he is just checking that Anita is all right. “Where could she be, poor thing?” Anita wonders,

adding that she has been thinking about the trip to Cardiff;

Dani is now back at Maes-y-Deri. Colin has spoken to Elinor;

“She’s going to give Gabriel some tea and then bring him back here. Do you want anything to drink? A cup of tea?”

Dani demands why he is being so nice to her, “After everything I’ve done?”

He points out that she cannot reason when she is in so much pain; “I know that myself,”

but Dani now realises that she should have stayed with her; she should have kept an eye on her.

“You know what children are like at Greta’s age,” Colin points out, “They disappear in a second.”
“If I’d stayed in the car she wouldn’t have slipped out – and she would . . .

“what kind of mother leaves her own child?” He realises she is speaking about Seren.

Britt has been serving up MFC’s finest for Greta, commenting, “You don’t have pink squash in your house, then? Do you want some pudding?”

Greta wastes no time in asking for ice cream, which will be with sauce and sprinkles.

Kylie comes in, asking for a torch in case she is still out after it gets dark, but then suddenly realises that Greta has been found;

“When’s Cai coming? Have you phoned him?”
Britt replies that she has not done so yet;

“Don’t fuss now, there’s no hurry, is there?” Kylie cannot believe that she is serious, but Britt goes on, “It’s no bad thing to let them suffer for a couple of hours or so. I’m looking after her.”

Kylie is insistent that Greta should have been taken home; Britt turns and remarks, “It’s a couple of hours for them –

“that’s nothing, compared with what we’ve been through!” Greta is served with her ice cream.

Tom is at work with his mattock in that patch of garden when Gaynor returns;

“I don’t know how I shall be able to thank you for all this work you’re doing for me,” she tells him;

he is confident that he will think of something.
“Well, I’m looking forward to growing vegetables here,” she goes on,

but, on the contrary, he informs her that this is his patch and he will dig another patch for her and her vegetables over there.

“You’re very defensive of your patch,” she comments; he maintains that any gardener worth his salt would be the same.

“Right, are you going to have a shower before dinner?” she wonders

and he expects that he might need help with that, to scrub his back.

They return to the house |
They head back into the house.

Cai is overjoyed to have Greta back with them; “Are you all right?” he asks and thanks Britt for bringing her back. “Where did you find her?” he enquires

and at that moment Lleucu arrives, equally delighted to see Greta.

She has brought a present – some ice cream – which she says they can have for pudding.

Britt finds this rather awkward,

as Greta explains, “I’ve had ice cream and chicken nuggets with Auntie Britt.” Anticipating what is going to happen next, Lleucu sends Greta upstairs; she will be up in a minute to run a bath for her.

Cai and Britt are glowering at each other;

“When did you find her?” he demands and she says that it was not long ago.

"Do you have any idea how worried I've been ?" |
“But you’ve given her food – do you have any idea how worried I’ve been? How it’s made me feel?”
Britt replies that she knows perfectly well how it feels;

“And it’s not nice, is it?” He concludes that she did this deliberately,

just as Iolo bursts in, demanding where Greta is; when told, he hurries upstairs.

Cai quickly gets out his phone and tells Lleucu that he is phoning the police;

"You've done enough damage today already!" |
“Don’t you dare!” she shouts, “You’ve done enough damage today already!” and snatches the phone from him. He looks as if he may accept that she is correct.

"Good news – she's back home safe" |
Colin has been given the good news in a call from Lleucu and informs Dani that she is back home safe; “She was scared and she ran away, poor dab.

"Everything's fine now" |
“But everything’s fine now, isn’t it?” Dani again mutters that she is not fit to be a mother, not after today – not after what she did to Seren.

Colin reassures her that none of this is her fault, but she will not accept that;

"What if Britt and I have him tonight?" |
“Listen, perhaps Gabriel should . . . you’ve had an emotional day, a long day – what if Britt and I have him tonight?”

Danny protests that she wants Gabriel with her, but he insists, “Just for a night, so that you get the chance to rest properly – you’ll feel better in the morning, guaranteed!”

"Just one big nightmare that never stops!" |
“This is my life now – just one big nightmare that never stops.”

Iolo opens the door of Y Felin and Ieuan comes in, asking if there is any news and whether Greta is back. He is told that Lleucu is upstairs with her, giving her a bath.

“Dani scared her so much that she ran away,” Iolo relates and Ieuan is glad that she is all right.

"Are there any tickets left" |
Then he notices that Cai is also there and enquires whether there are any tickets left for the rugby trip; “I’d like two, if possible – for the bus and the hotel.”

Cai will sort that out and Ieuan will bring over the money tomorrow.

Iolo growls at Cai, “I asked you to do one thing – watch her,”

When Ieuan returns to number 7, he finds Anita unwrapping an electric kettle and announces that Greta is fine. “I’ve had this delivered,” she tells him, “And before you say anything, it wasn’t expensive.”

He assumes that the other one was broken. “No – I’ve just had enough of the retro kettle on the hob – I have to listen out for the whistling.” Ieuan also regards it as a hassle and does not know why Kelly likes it.

“I want a simple one that will turn itself off when it’s boiled,” she continues, “I know exactly where I stand, then.”

"A weekend case – coming tomorrow" |
Then he announces that there is another delivery coming tomorrow; “Something for you – a weekend case. I’ve been thinking about what you said – you were right – we need to make the most of the moments we have. I don’t want you to miss out on things.”

“You’re willing for me to go to Cardiff?” she excitedly asks

"And I'll be coming with you" |
and he says that he will be coming with her, that is if she wants him to.

She replies that of course she is happy for him to come.

He has booked a few other things |
He has booked a few things for her in the spa and a nice meal for them.

She is overjoyed, as he reminds her that he is here to support her;

"We're going to face this together" |
they are going to face this – whatever is ahead of them – together. “And when you’re upset – or you’re struggling – whatever you’re feeling, you have to tell me, all right?”
