Mark agrees that he will probably come over in the new year; “Why wait until then?” Dyff asks, “Look, Dan’s coming over for Christmas, if he’s well enough – if you come before then, it will only be me at home.

Cheryl has just walked in and is listening; “We’ve got fancy dress, haven’t we, Mark?” she says, “The Star Trek stuff upstairs.”

“Where?” is her next question and Mark replies that his father has asked him to go back to Tenerife with him, leaving tomorrow. Cheryl cannot believe what she is hearing.

“The boys have agreed to do extra shifts until I get back,” he says.

“Can you blame me? Some of the villagers are after my blood,” she answers, although he maintains it is not that bad. “I haven’t even been home to face Dai yet!” she adds.

“I did ask him – I didn’t want him to think I was turning my back on him again!” Kath says that it is good that Mark will get some time with his father. Whatever has happened between them, she does not want it to affect his relationship with Mark and Stacey.
