Dani comes downstairs . . .

Dani comes downstairs

. . . and switches on the kettle

and as she turns on the kettle,

Jinx sneaks in . . .

she hears the door open and Jinx come in,

. . . hoping to quietly creep upstairs

hoping that his arrival would not be noticed.   “Where have you been?” she demands,

"I slept on the boys' sofa"

and he is forced to invent an explanation that he fell asleep on the boys’ sofa after being in Ceffyl Du

“I wasn’t sure whether you wanted me to come back, so . . .”

"I'm so sorry, Jinx"

Her attitude towards him has obviously mellowed as she hugs him and tells him how sorry she is.

Kath is decidedly not happy

At Cysgod y Glyn, Kath is in a very bad mood;  she hears the door open downstairs and someone coming up.   “I hope those aren’t for me,” she tells Brynmor,

"It will take more that a few leaves!"

“It will take more than a few leaves to make up for what you’ve done, good boy!   How could you, Brynmor?   That’s my home.”

"I didn't get a chance to tell you"

He argues that he did not get a chance to tell her properly, so she enquires when this chance was going to arrive;

"Before or after they drowned half the valley?"

“Before or after the company drowned half the valley?   Why, Brynmor?”

"Things were supposed to be confidential"

He explains that things were supposed to be confidential, so Kath continues, “OK, we’ve been through this, haven’t we?

"I'm your wife – there are no secrets"

“I’m your wife – there are no secrets.”

"Not every decision has been easy"

“Look, not every decision has been easy,” he maintains, but she snarls that they should be when they affect his family.

"Am I the last to find out?"

“Who else knows?   Am I the last to find out?”

"Everything will be fine"

He says that only those within the company knew, assuring her that everything will be fine.

"How do you think I felt?"

“Dyff knows – how do you think I felt when he told me?”

"I'm quite sure he enjoyed every minute of it!"

Brynmor is quite sure that he enjoyed every minute of it, but is warned, “Whoa – this isn’t about Dyff, this is about you keeping a secret from me!”

Brynmor considers that what Dyff is trying to do is a lot worse.

"I can't trust anybody!"

Kath exclaims, “You both deceived me – to be honest, there’s a gang of you – you, Dyff, Stacey, Cassie – form a queue!   I can’t trust anybody!”

"Welcome home, Dad"

Eleri walks in on this scene and welcomes her father home, asking how the antiques trip went.   Kath interrupts, “I cleared up the mess you left last night!   It was like a pigsty!”

"Remember this is Eleri's home"

Brynmor reminds her that this is Eleri’s home;  “Yes,” she replies,

"Unlike our Mark's, her home is safe!"

“And unlike our Mark’s, her home is safe, isn’t it?”

"I'm just a little tired

Brynmor tells Eleri that he is just a little tired, so he came home early.   “It’s a shame you and your daisies hadn’t stayed where you were!”   She walks out of the room, with Brynmor trying to persuade her to listen.

Eleri makes a phone call

Eleri picks up her phone to make a call.

There is a knock at the door of number 9 and Dani answers it;  Britt comes in as Dani groans, “Britt, please, not today!”

"I'm not here to argue, Dani"

However, Britt is not there to argue, but instead hugs Dani;  she just wanted to make sure that Dani is all right and has also brought something for her.

"Colin said you were looking for it"

She produces Seren’s missing headband which she left at the MFC flat sometime;  “Colin said you were looking for it.”

"I hate to think of her on her own"

“I hate to think of her on her own,” says Dani, but is reminded by Britt that she will not be on her own.

"We're here for you, Dani"

They are here if Dani needs anything.

"Can you watch Gabs for me?"

“Can you watch Gabs for me?” Dani asks and Britt says that it would be an honour.

"I'd only do this for Seren"

Gwern is putting on his tie and tells Britt, “I’d only do this for Seren.”

"How do we know we can trust her?"

At Bryntirion, DJ asks, “How do we know that we can trust her?”

"Everything will be done properly"

Jason replies that everything will be done properly, with an official contract and a timetable.   They will pay her £500 per month, which is half of what they are paying to Mathew.

“And there will be less interest,” he adds.

"It's too good to be true"

DJ regards it as too good to be true and Jason explains that she has her reasons;  she does not want to put her money in the bank.   “Does it matter why?”

"What if she asks why we're in debt?"

“What if she starts asking why we’re in debt?” is DJ’s next question, “I don’t think anyone else should know.”

"Anything to do with you being the thief?"

Jason suspects that this may be something to do with the fact that DJ is the thief

"Eleri doesn't want to know"

and stresses that Eleri does not want to know.

As far as Jason is concerned, it is a no-brainer;  “You’ll have more money in your pocket each month to give to Sioned.   There are no ‘buts’, DJ – Eleri wants an answer by the end of the afternoon, all right?

"She's take her money somewhere else!"

“Or she’ll take her money and invest it somewhere else!”

"I'm just worried I'm going to lose her"

Brynmor says that he does not want any food;  “I’m just worried that I’m going to lose her.”

"If Dyff had just kept his mouth shut . . ."

Eleri is quite sure that he will not.   “If Dyff had just kept his mouth shut . . .”   Eleri points out that fools cannot manage to do that

"Life was a lot easier before he landed here"

and her father sighs, “Life was a lot easier before he landed here.”

"He won't be in Cwmderi for long"

She seems to be confident that Dyff will not be in Cwmderi for long, so Brynmor wonders why.   “I’m not going to sit back and let them make fools of us, Dad.”

"It's sorted – that's all you need to know"

When he asks what she is going to do, she replies, “It’s sorted – that’s all you need to know – another coffee?”

He wants to know more of what she has in mind, so she informs him, “I know a few people who can sort men like Dyff out – and he’ll know never to come near Cwmderi again.”

"He's not going to get hurt?"

“He’s not going to get hurt, is he?”   Eleri replies that she tried to ask politely, but he would not listen,

"I had no choice, Dad"

so she had no choice.

"You must stop this now!"

Brynmor demands that whatever she has planned, she must stop it now, but she says that she is just teaching him a lesson.

He continues to insist that she do so;  she picks up her phone and dials a number.

"It goes straight to voicemail"

“It goes straight to voicemail, so they must have . . .”

"Next time, don't bother, right?"

Brynmor jumps up and rushes out of the flat, shouting, “Next time, don’t bother, right?”

"You're not on your own, OK, Dani?"

Jinx comes downstairs and advises that the hearse will be there in a moment;  “You’re not on your own, OK, Dani?   We’re here with you, aren’t we, Gwern?”

"I don't think I can do this"

However,  Gwern is now having second thoughts and doubts that he can do this.

Dani stresses that this is Seren’s day and Jinx appreciates that it is difficult, but it will only be them;

"You, me and Dani"

“You, me and Dani – a chance to say goodbye properly.”   Gwern does not want to say goodbye,

"We have to do this, Gwern"

but is told that not going will not change things – they have to do this;

"If you want to shout or scream, that's OK"

“And if you want to cry or shout or scream, that’s OK, isn’t it, Dani?”   They leave the house.

The name 'Seren' means 'Star'

Outside a lot of villagers are watching the slow approach of the hearse as it proceeds towards Bethania.

They come out of number 9 . . .

The three of them come out of number 9

. . . and follow the hearse

and walk behind it.   As they enter the chapel,

Jinx looks across . . .

Jinx looks across guiltily

. . . at Eleri

at Eleri

The coffin is taken into the chapel

and the coffin is wheeled into Bethania.

"We're going to make a purple cake"

Colin suggests that they should now go to the park, but Britt proposes to go back to the flat to make a purple cake covered in glitter.

"Appreciate every second with those twins"

Also watching from nearby, Mark advises DJ, “Make sure you appreciate every second with those twins – you don’t know how lucky we are.”

Cai walks sadly away

Cai is watching from a distance, then turns and walks sadly away.

Brynmor arrives at the site office . . .

Brynmor rushes into the site office of Quantum, but can find no sign of Dyff.

. . . but is faced with Eleri's hit-men

When he turns, he finds that two ruffians have followed him in and they look malevolently at him.

"Hey, hang on now, boys"

“Hey, hang on now, boys,” he says.

In the cemetery . . .

In the cemetery, presumably behind Bethania, the three mourners stand by the grave,

. . . Dani sobs over her daughter

with Dani sobbing;  Jinx says that he will take her home now.

"I can't leave her, Jinx!"

“I can’t,” she replies, “I can’t leave her, Jinx!” and she screams out in her grief.

Fortunately the kicking has only just started . . .

In the site office, Brynmor is about to be given a good kicking by Eleri’s hired hitmen,

. . . when Dyff intervenes . . .

but at that moment they are disturbed by the arrival of Dyff, who immediately radios for assistance from his fellow officer, Steve.

. . . and the 'heavies' make their escape

This is the cue for the two assailants to make a hasty getaway.

"How much did you pay those two yobs?"

Dyff helps Brynmor to his feet, while demanding, “How much did you pay those two yobs?

"You should have made sure they had a brain first"

“You should have made sure they had a brain first.”   He goes to get the first aid kit,

Brynmor also leaves rather abruptly . . .

but in his absence Brynmor also makes a quick exit from the office;

. . . and is soon out of sight

Dyff can see no sign of him.

Dani and Gwern are sitting on a bench

Dani and Gwern are now sitting on a bench;

"Shall we go home now?"

Jinx suggests that they should go home now, but Dani says, “Not now – you go – I want to be with Seren.   I’ll be fine, I promise,” so the two of them walk away,

She walks back to the grave

leaving Dani with her thoughts.

"I thought you were working"

Jason has prepared his lunch and is surprised when DJ comes in;  “I thought you were working.”

"I don't really trust her"

DJ has been thinking about Eleri’s offer.   He does not really trust her and does not want to be in debt to her;  “But we can’t keep living like this – it’s not fair on the kids.   We have to make sure we read the small print – every word.”

"In principle, do you agree?"

Jason accepts that;  “But in principle, do you agree?”

"Anything's better than living like this"

DJ nods his head, maintaining that anything is better than living like they are at the moment.

"Right – we agree, then"

Jason is delighted that they have reached an agreement.

"I always knew you were going to leave me"

Dani stands alone by the grave;  “I always knew that you’d leave me.   You were going to go around the world, singing like Taylor Swift and nobody would have stopped you.

"Do you remember that meltdown you had?"

“Do you remember that meltdown you had when you found out that you were supposed to sing ‘Tedi Blewog[Furry Teddy Bear] at the Eisteddfod and not ‘Shake it Off’?

"I miss everything about you"

“I miss everything about you – and it’s getting worse every day because I’m trying to remember everything I said to you – everything we did.

"The cwtches I gave you when you couldn't sleep"

“The cwtches I gave you when you couldn’t sleep.   I’m trying to work things out in my head –

"I'm so sorry I couldn't stop this"

“I hope I did everything I could to be the mother you deserved.   I’m so sorry that I wasn’t able to stop this.

"I love you so much"

“I love you so much.”

Dani finds that she is not alone

As she stands up again, she notices that someone is approaching;  “I told you to stay away!” she snarls at Cai, “Why are you here?”

"I want to express my condolences"

He says that he wants to express his condolences.

“Well, there she is – you can express your condolences now.

"Explain that it's because of you"

“Explain that it’s because of you that she’s lying there.   Say what you have to say, Cai.”

"I'm so sorry, Dani"

He is so sorry and Dani demands why he left Seren and then walks away

"You should never have left her"

At number 9, Britt is becoming frantic;  “You never should have left her,” she moans, but Jinx points out that they had no choice.

"She needs support!"

“She needs support!” Britt goes on.

"She wanted to be on her own with Seren"

“She wanted to be on her own with Seren,” Jinx explains and Gwern adds that it was the first time that Dani had cried in front of him.

Then the door opens

Britt decides that she is going to look for Dani, but at that moment the door opens

"Sorry if I've been a long time"

and she returns, apologising if she has been a long time.

"We've made a cake"

Britt says that she, Colin and Gabs have made a cake;  the child starts crying upstairs and when Jinx offers to go up,

"It's fine – Mami's coming"

Dani insists that she will go;  “It’s fine – Mami’s coming,” she calls.

Cai is back at Y Felin

Cai is now back at Y Felin,

. . . and looks at his laptop

where he picks up the laptop and looks anxiously at

The Samaritans Cymru website

the webpage of Samaritans Cymru

He carefully considers

which he considers carefully.

Dani is sleeping

Dani is now with Jinx on the sofa and is asleep;  the alert sounds on his phone,

Eleri wants a chat with Jinx . . .

where there is a message from Eleri;  ‘I think we need a chat.”

. . . and again he feels guilty

He puts down the phone and looks guilty.

That bag looks familiar

Eleri is returning to Cysgod y Glyn, carrying a large black bag, immediately recognisable as the one which allegedly perished in the Deri  explosion, when she receives a phone call;

“Jason – yes, I think my financial advisor can get it ready by next week.   Great, I’ll phone you.”

She opens the bag . . .

She opens the bag

. . . and looks at some of the money . . .

and pulls out some of the bundles of notes, before putting them back, then hears the sound of the front door opening,

. . . before hastily hiding it under the sink

so quickly hides the bag under the sink.

"Is your father here?"

Kath comes in, demanding if her father is there;  Eleri replies that she has not seen him for a while.

"I suspect he went to see Dyff"

“I suspect he went to over to see Dyff,” she adds, “To sort things out, as Dyff is making his life so difficult.”

Kath simply points out that Dyff has told the truth;

"Why are you always defending your ex?"

Eleri wonders why Kath is always defending her ex.   “I defend whoever’s right –

"It isn't your father this time"

“and it isn’t your father this time, do you understand?”

Then he staggers in

Brynmor comes in, still profusely bleeding from his nose,

"What happened?"

which comes as quite a shock to Kath and to Eleri.   “Come in – what happened?” Kath demands.

"Have you had an accident or what?"

He mutters that it looks worse than it is;  “Have you had an accident or what?”

Eleri of course knows exactly what has happened as Kath asks, “Don’t tell me Dyff did this?”

"Yes, Dyff!"

Eleri looks expectantly at her father, as he answers, “Yes, Dyff!”

Kath is speechless

Kath appears horrified.
