Siôn comes downstairs, carrying two ties; he asks Iolo and Cai which of them he should wear. He explains that he is going to see Eileen in the prison;

but he replies that this is not America. “I thought I was helping you with the speech for tomorrow,” she continues.

Her father warns her to keep away from the talks about the dam this time, but she insists that she is helping Siôn. “It’s all right – I know what I want to say – Mark and Ffion will also be speaking.”
Iolo has been taking no interest in this conversation, but staring at his phone;

on the subject of the ties, he snaps, “Does it matter? I’ve got too much on my mind.” Siôn has to leave now.

Dani is in her usual position on the sofa; Jinx ask if she wants some scrambled eggs and she replies that she does not.

“Give them to Gwern – it’s Monday, so he’ll need something before school.”

Jinx enlightens her that it is actually Tuesday.

Gwern comes downstairs in a hurry and does not want the scrambled eggs as he is off to school; “I’ll have something in the school canteen – I’m meeting Lleucu there.”

Dani forces herself to say, “Good – I’m glad – it’s a good thing,”

which he finds rather surprising. “I’ve lost Monday and the weekend moping round here,

“so it’s time for us to find some sort of normal, isn’t it?” she adds.

Jinx reminds her that it was only last week, but she is intent on going to have a shower and then she will come down for those eggs;

“Then we can go for a walk this afternoon, if you want to,” she suggests, “If not, well, I’m going anyway. Enjoy yourself with Lleucu – see you later.”

At Llwyncelyn, Cheryl is doing the washing-up when Tom walks in, looking for Gaynor.
“She’s out in the garden, getting some fresh air,” he is told.

“She needs it after that feast you made for breakfast,” he remarks and she replies that her mother did not teach her much,

She refuses any help, but he begins the drying-up nevertheless,

insisting that it is no problem; she has been busy, doing everything for Gaynor all morning. “Well, she is my sister and I want to help.”

He points out that she does not have to do everything herself – he is there, too;

“For both of you,” he adds, grasping her arm,

Kelly visits Eleri at Cysgod y Glyn; “So, what’s so important that it couldn’t wait until the office?” she asks.

She is told that they need to discuss her leave – the days she has left to take. “I haven’t been in the mood to take a holiday this year,” Kelly explains.

“I need you to use them as soon as possible,” Eleri instructs her, but Kelly had been thinking that she could save them for next year.

“Organise a big trip – North America, Canada,” but she is informed that she cannot carry them over

and it would help Eleri if she took the next three weeks off.

Kelly laughs, “You what?” It is pointed out that they are not busy and Eleri is hoping that things will be a lot busier in the New Year.

“OK – am I supposed to sit in the house, staring at four walls, with a microwave dinner or what?” moans Kelly.

"Use them or lose them!" |
“If you don’t use them by the end of the year, Kelly, they’ll be gone!” she is bluntly told, “You decide – use them or lose them!”

"Wow!" |
“Wow!” gasps Kelly, then walks out of the flat.

Siôn is at the prison . . . |
It is visiting time at the prison and Siôn approaches the table at which Eileen is sitting;

she looks very pleased to see him and compliments him him on the tie, which he explains is just the first thing he found this morning.

He apologises for not coming to see her before and asks how she is; “It’s so difficult, Siôn, being away, stuck here every day,” she whines,

Siôn is at a loss to know what to say in response to this.

Gwern arrives at MFC |
Lleucu is sitting in MFC when Gwern comes in; she says that she has bought him lunch.

He says that he is starving, after having no breakfast.

"I was talking to Dad" |
She apologises for not turning up as arranged this morning; he complains that he was waiting for ages. “I was talking to Dad,” she says

and he suspects her father kept her away on purpose.

"I'm worried about him" |
“I’m the one who wanted to talk to him,” she explains, “I’m worried about him.” Gwern comments that he will get his violin, which angers Lleucu.

“What? Do you expect me to feel sorry for him?” Lleucu points out that he has been through a lot lately; “And I haven’t?” Gwern snarls.
She insists that it is not a competition, but she is just worried about her father.

Gwern stresses, “It’s his fault that my sister is dead!” so she gets up from her seat and he demands where she is going.

"I'm going home!" |
“Home!” she replies, and he sneers that she is going to ditch her boyfriend for breakfast and lunch.

“You’re not my boyfriend any more – I don’t want to be with someone who can be so callous about my family!”

Kelly finds Cheryl in the deli; “All right, stranger?” she says, which gives Cheryl quite a shock; she thought Kelly was someone else.

Cheryl tries to give the impression that she is, but Kelly can see that is not the case.

Eileen confesses that she is not very good company today; “But seeing you and hearing you talk makes me miss Huwi, Sioned – and I barely know Jac and Lili.

Siôn offers to go up and see her; he would be glad to do that and will do so tomorrow. “If there’s anything else I can do . . .” he goes on.

“It would help if someone other than Sioned kept an eye on Tamed and the other businesses,” says Eileen

She smiles at her accomplishment, just as they are warned that there are five minutes remaining, so once again she turns on the tears.

“This is silly,” insists Siôn, “You should be coming home with me – you should go and see Sioned yourself – you’re not a threat to anyone. Have you asked your solicitor if there is anything you can do? An appeal?”

“I’ve talked to some of the women here and they say an appeal can take months,” she groans, but Siôn thinks that it is worth trying.

“I’m going to phone him tonight – it’s not fair.”

He clasps Eileen's hands |
As he clasps Eileen’s hands, he goes on, “You deserve to be out of here as soon as possible!”

Tom is in the site office of Quantum when Iolo comes in; “Is there anyone from Quantum Hydro Works I can talk to?” Apparently they have just left, so Tom offers to help.

“I received an email from the HR department – I think there’s been a mistake because I’m a plumber and I don’t know anything about dams.” Tom points out that the work will not be anything to do with the dam itself;

“But I’m sure you’ll manage – that’s what I told them anyway. They want to give some local tradespeople an opportunity – and I’d heard good things about you. Are you interested?”

Iolo says that he needs to find out a little more about the company first and Tom suspects that he may be worried about what people in the village will say. “I’m worried about what Dad will say!” replies Iolo.

He is invited to take a seat and Tom will explain things to him.

Dani comes out of the house, followed by Jinx, just as Eleri is approaching along the street, with her umbrella up. “Are you sure you want to do this today?” Jinx asks,

Eleri remarks that it is nice to see Dani out; “Jinx is taking me for some fresh air,” she replies, “I don’t know what I would do without him.”

“If you’re worried he’s going to do something . . .” Kelly begins, but Cheryl says that it is nothing like that; she is just worried that she did not stop him.

Kelly imagines that she is saying that she has feelings towards Dave;

Cheryl admits that if she is completely honest with herself, she has only seen the nice side since he arrived in Cwmderi. She has to remind herself that he is the same man.

“But what if he has?” Cheryl demands. Kelly is very doubtful about that, pointing out that even if he has, he is with her sister now – and she has Mark.

Iolo arrives back at Y Felin and finds Cai sitting in front of the television; his father is working on the laptop.

“I don’t think your mother will let me stay,” Cai grumbles, Lleucu promises that she will deal with her mother. “Don’t you want to spend Christmas with Gwern?” he asks.

“We’ve finished,” Lleucu announces, “And you’re more important to me than Gwern is, anyway. If some time away will help you, I can’t think of a better way to spend Christmas.”
He replies that he will look into it, but is not promising anything;

Kelly returns to Cysgod y Glyn and informs Eleri of her decision; “I’m happy – not ecstatic, by the way – to take my holidays now.” Eleri is glad to hear it. “I probably need a recharge anyway.”

“And I should go back to Mark.” She shouts upstairs to Gaynor, “I’m leaving now!” and maintains that it is for the best.

“Are you worried she’s going to find out what happened between us? Because you gave the impression that you were over – that you weren’t happy – that you were about to leave. And now you’re holding her hand, taking her for a walk.”

“Listen, she’s vulnerable – I can’t finish with her in the middle of this,” he insists.

“And I was a bit of fun while Dani’s not in the mood,” Eleri sneers, but he argues that he is not that sort of man. “That’s what men like that say.”
Jinx does not want to hurt anyone.
