DJ has a delivery for the Deri

Maya is just collecting her coffee from Geraint in the Deri when DJ comes in with some cakes from ‘Tamed’;  

"I wanted to see you"

“I wanted to see you,” he says, which causes Maya some concern.   “We need a new first aid box for ‘Tamed’ – have you got anything?   I don’t want to faff about online.”

She will put one aside for him;  

"Sioned wants me to go home"

then he receives a text message from Sioned, who wants him to come home for some reason.   He has also had two missed calls from her, so he had better go.   

"Cassie can pay for these another time, Ger"

He tells Geraint, “Cassie can pay for these another time.”

Jinx is also on the phone, receiving some good news from the police;  he can return to his house.   

"How are you, Jinx?"

Ieuan come in after visiting the toilet and asks how he is;  

"Just found out I can go home"

“Just found out I can go back home.”

Ieuan sympathises, “Good news?   Moving back into number 9?   

"You're braver than me"

“You’re braver than me – that place is cursed, considering all that’s happened there.”   He asks for the menu, 

This worries Jinx

while Jinx looks rather worried.

"Buckingham Palace, the West End, Soho"

Anita comes out of the shop and meets Mathew and Rhys walking along the road;  she tells them that she has enjoyed her weekend in London.   “The hotel was lovely – we saw all the sights – Buckingham Palace, the West End, Soho.”   

"What we're you doing in Soho?"

Rhys wonders what she was doing in Soho 

"We had a lovely meal there"

and is told that they had a lovely meal there;  “It was a fantastic weekend!”

"You're not going to be able to shift this stock"

They predict that it will be impossible for her to shift the new stock, but she regards them as prophets of doom.   

"There's no need to worry about me"

“There’s no need to worry about me – I’ll be fine!” she insists, as she stalks off.   

"What were they doing in Soho?"

Rhys is still wondering what they were doing in Soho.

"Are you all right?"

DJ has hurried home as soon as he could and asks Sioned, “Are you all right?   What happened?”   

"I'm ovulating!"

Her reply is that she is ovulating and she thought they could . . .

“Whoa now, Sioned – that’s why you wanted me to come back?   

"You'll still be ovulating tonight"

“You’ll still be ovulating tonight,” he protests, 

"I might not be"

but she imagines that perhaps she will not be.  “Listen, I think we should talk about this,” he goes on.

“What is there to say?   We’ve both agreed that we want to try for another baby,” she says.   

"I've got a lot on today, Sioned"

He has a lot on today and has a car full of cakes to deliver;  he also needs to clear the kitchen at ‘Tamed’.   

"Not changed your mind, have you?"

Sioned is afraid that he has changed his mind, but he assures her that it is not the case.   

"Are you sure you want to do this?"

“Are you sure you want to do this?”   

This is a pretty conclusive answer

In answer, she takes his hand and leads him towards the stairs.

The decorations are still up in number 9

Jinx steps gingerly into number 9, where the Christmas decorations are still hanging;  

The police are hopeless at tidying up as well as solving crime

he looks around, finding a packet of forensic gloves which has been left behind, 

He almost goes out of the back door . . .

then approaches the back door.   However, at the last moment, 

. . . but then thinks better of it

he decides not to venture into the garden.

"Where on earth have you been?"

At Griffiths’ house, Anita is sorting out this, allegedly, last order and complains when Ieuan arrives back late, just after three.   “Where on earth have you been?”   

"At the Deri, having lunch"

He replies that she knows very well he was at the Deri, having lunch, and points out that he had invited her to come with him.

"Someone had to do the food shop"

“Someone had to do the food shop,” she moans as she puts the beauty products into various bags.   When he asks for a cup of tea, she tells him to put the kettle on himself;  “There’s a lot of stuff here – and you told me you would help me shift it.”

"When I have the time, Anita"

He says that he will when he has the time.   Anita demands when that will be;  “Before or after you’ve stuffed yourself in the Deri?   Can you help me now, please?”

He tells her that he is confident she will manage to shift the stuff, as she always has done before;  

"Nose to the grindstone, as Mama used to say!"

“Nose to the grindstone, as Mami used to say!”   Anita is not impressed.

"Why do we take Bara Brith over?"

As they walk past the Deri, having called to see Colin, Sioned queries, “I don’t know why we take Bara Brith over when someone’s died.”   DJ describes it as tradition, and she suggests, “Because currants help with grief?”   

"I can't believe what happened to Colin"

They still cannot believe what has happened to Colin.

"Let's pop in here"

As they pass the pharmacy, Sioned wants to pop in;  

"Do you have any folic acid in stock"

she asks Maya, “I was wondering if you had any folic acid in stock – DJ and I have decided to try for another baby.”

Maya is rather taken aback

This comes as an unpleasant surprise to Maya and Sioned thinks that folic acid would help.   

"Have you talked to your doctor?"

“Yes, of course – have you talked to your doctor about taking it?   You should probably get a once-over first – get your blood pressure and things checked.   “

"I could do it for you now"

“I could do it for you now, if you want  – the consultation room is free.”

"I'll wait for you outside"

Sioned is not sure about that, but DJ encourages her and will wait for her outside.   

Sioned is rather hesitant 

Maya does not look happy about the news and Sioned is hesitant.

They have also left a tarpaulin

Another thing which the police have left at number 9 is a brown tarpaulin in the kitchen, which Jinx is attempting to fold up.   

"You almost gave me a heart attack!"

Suddenly Dani appears behind him, which gives him a great shock;  “You almost gave me a heart attack!” he exclaims.

Dani tells him that the door was open and she had been told by Griffiths that he was allowed back.   

"Home, sweet home"

“Home, sweet home,” he groans and she offers to help him, providing there are no rats.   

"I've got half an hour"

She has half an hour before picking up the children and they begin folding up the tarpaulin.

"Sorry"

Jinx is very tense;  “Sorry,” he says.   Dani appreciates that it is hard to come back there after everything that has happened, 

"I'm all right"

but he replies, unconvincingly, “I’m all right.”

"Why don't you stay with us?"

“Why don’t you stay with us if this place makes jumpy?” Dani suggests, but he says that he cannot camp on her sofa for ever – and they are already like sardines in that house.

"I'll have to come back here one day"

“I have to come back here one day,” he reminds her.

"That's perfect"

The result of the blood pressure test is good, 

"What's going on, Sioned?"

but Maya asks, “What’s going on, Sioned?   This baby business all of a sudden – it’s not some kind of reaction to what happened, is it?”

"Nothing did happen, did it?"

Sioned is adamant that nothing did happened, but Maya goes on, 

"You and I both know that's not true"

“You and I both know that’s not true – and the next thing I know you’re trying for a baby.”

"We were always going to start again"

“DJ and I were always going to try again,” Sioned insists, but Maya regards it has rather a coincidence they are doing it now.   

"I'm not gay!"

“I don’t know what you think happened, but I’m not gay!” Sioned emphasises, “We’re friends – and I will always be grateful for what you did on that rugby pitch.”

Maya promotes her lesbian lifestyle

Maya is undeterred;  “If you’re struggling with your sexuality – I struggled at the beginning, too.”   Sioned makes it very clear to her that she is with DJ and she wants to be with DJ.   

"So we're just going to sweep everything under the carpet?"

“So, we’re just going to sweep everything under the carpet?” Maya complains.

"Exactly!"

“Exactly – and if you can’t accept that, then you can forget having a friendship as well!”   

Sioned leaves her tablets behind

Sioned walks out, leaving behind her folic acid tablets.   (Presumably the rest of the pharmacy has been unsupervised during this time.)

The Christmas decorations come down

Jinx is removing the Christmas decorations, then sits down on the sofa;  

There is a disconcerting creak . . .

he hears a creaking sound which startles him, 

. . . and Jinx tries to get some company

takes out his phone and dials a number.

"No-one is interested in a 'Meddal' party"

Anita is complaining again;  “I’ve been the phone for hours and no-one is interested in hosting a ‘Meddal’ party!”   Ieuan thinks there must be someone she can persuade, 

"We've got enough stuff to last months"

but Anita groans, “No – everyone says the same thing – ‘We’ve got enough stuff to last months’.”

"Pretend you have some new products"

He suggests that she could pretend that she has some new products;  “Who would be any the wiser?”   

"You're not helping, Ieuan!"

She moans that he is not helping;  if he was, she would be able to find new customers.

"A councillor selling massage oil to people!"

As he pours himself a whisky, he comments, “What if people heard that a councillor and businessmen like me was selling massage oil to people?”   

She protests that he has changed his tune;  

"Poi were more than willing to accept the weekend!"

“You were more than willing to accept that weekend in London – and now it’s time to help me, it’s too much to ask!   Do you know what?   Those two days of the ‘high life’ weren’t worth it!”

Rhys is still going on about Soho

Jinx’s phone call was to invite Mathew and Rhys round to number 9;  “I can’t imagine those two in Soho,” says Jinx, but Mathew maintains that sort of thing will suit Griffiths. 

“I’m sure he was gutted that Anita was with him!” Rhys laughs, “Otherwise he’d be in that lap-dancing club.”   

"I've never been in a lap-dancing club . . ."

Jinx reveals that he has never been in a lap-dancing club, 

". . . not much demand in Bethesda"

as there was not much demand for them in Bethesda.  [A village SE of Bangor in North Wales]

Rhys recalls that there was one in Llanarthur, and when Mathew asks what the dancers were like, 

"Kath Jones was one of them!"

he replies, “Kath Jones was one of them!”

Jinx is grateful to them for coming over to keep him company and Rhys realises that it must be hard;  

"Where exactly did you find the body?"

“We’ve never lived anywhere where someone’s been murdered – where exactly did you find the body?”   

"In the garden"

He is told that it was in the garden.

“Yes, but where in the garden?”   Mathew remembers that they used to have parties out there with Tes.   The next question is, 

"Facing up or down?"

“How was she buried?   Facing up or down?” and Mathew urges him to stop this.   He will not, thinking of the possibility that she was hit with something.

“Rhys, stop – you’ll freak him out!” exclaims Mathew, 

"Come on, show me"

but Rhys is anxious to go outside and have a look, telling Jinx to show him.

Maya arrives at Penrhewl 

Maya arrives at Penrhewl and DJ is suspicious about meeting her three times in one day;  

"People will talk!"

“People will start to talk!”   Maya is looking for Sioned having brought the folic acid tablets which she forgot, 

"How much do I owe you?"

and will not accept any payment from DJ;  

"I just wanted to wish you well"

“I just wanted to come and wish you well with everything – right, I’d better go – and I sorted out the first aid box for you.   

"You'll make the best parents"

“You’ll make the best parents.”

"We all thought Gwyneth was normal"

When they come back inside from their garden viewing, Rhys says, “What I can’t believe is that we all thought Gwyneth was normal.”   It is pointed out that they do not know for sure that Gwyneth did it.

"Where do you think she did it?"

“Don’t be so naïve – she’s done it before – where do you think she did it?   In here?   Upstairs in your room?   There would be loads of blood if she was stabbed!”

"Are you trying to wind me up or what?"

“Are you trying to wind me up or what?” demands Jinx, “I’m trying not to ask myself those questions.”   Then there is a knock at the door;  

"I heard Mathew is here"

Ieuan has been informed that Mathew is there.

"I need to talk to you about 'Meddal'"

“Mathew, I need to talk to you about ‘Meddal’ – Anita’s struggling,” he begins, “I know it’s a lot to ask, but could you help her?”

"She carried on working for that dodgy company"

Mathew makes it very clear that she was the one who took the London weekend and carried on working for that dodgy company.   Griffiths acknowledges that perhaps she was rather hasty, 

"If you think you can bribe me . . ."

and Mathew is adamant, “If you think you can bribe me into selling that stuff again . . .”

"I want you to build something – by tomorrow"

Griffiths insists, “I don’t want you to sell anything – I want you to build something – by tomorrow.”   

"What – tonight?"

Mathew finds this suggestion amusing, but is told, “£50 for a few hours’ work – 

"Unless you want to sit here, slurping away"

“unless you want to sit here, slurping away.”

Mathew haggles with him and they settle on £80, but Mathew will need some help, 

"I'm not paying him £80!|"

which will mean £50 for Rhys.   “Right, shall we go to APD and I will explain what I want.”   

"Sorry, Jinx, mate"

Jinx objects to them leaving him, 

"Money talks, son"

but Griffiths sneers, “Money talks, son.”

"Are you all right, Sioned?"

In the Deri, DJ brings Sioned her drink and asks if she is all right;  

"What if it all goes wrong again?"

now she is worrying, “What if it all goes wrong again – I want to try for a baby – it’s just I’m scared, DJ.”

"I've got this ICD now"

He predicts that it will be different this time, and she agrees that it certainly will be;  “I’ve got this ICD now – I nearly died because of my condition – 

"The last thing I want is to pass it on"

“the last thing I want to do is pass that on to our child, so they have to suffer the same thing.”   

"We're aware of it now . . ."

He points out that they are aware of it now – they can find out and have some tests done early;  

". . . we'll take it step by step"

they will take it step by step.

"Do you know what Maya said?"

“I forgot to say, Maya called round earlier with the folic acid – do you know what she said?   

"I think she's right"

‘You’ll make the best parents’ and I think she’s right.”   

All appears to be rosy

He hugs Sioned. 

Dani is in her dressing gown

Jinx is pouring away the remains of the can of drink when there is another knock at the door;  Dani arrives, in her dressing gown and clutching a Tedi.   She can see that Mathew and Rhys have done a runner.

"Seren has given her permission"

“I’ve come here for a sleepover, because you’re scared of being here alone,” she says, assuring him that Seren has given her permission and Mark is happy to babysit.

"I'm sure it will be fine"

“If you’re brave enough to stay here for one night, I’m sure it will be fine – and the rats have gone!”   

"Why the teddy?"

He wonders why she is carrying the teddy, 

"For you, because you're a big baby"

so she explains, “The teddy’s for you, because you’re a baby.”   

They embrace

They hug.

"Sorry I missed your call"

Maya comes into the Deri, leaving a message on her phone for Delyth;  “Sorry I missed your call earlier – I hope the course is going well – I miss you, Dee.”

Sioned and DJ are leaving

At that moment Sioned and DJ are just leaving;  

"I wanted to say thanks . . ."

Sioned stops to tell Maya, “I wanted to say thanks – 

". . . for bringing the folic acid"

“DJ told me you called over with the folic acid.   

"Listen, about earlier . . ."

“Listen, about earlier . . .”   But before anything else can be said, the phone sounds and Maya has to take the call.   

She does not seem keen to talk to Delyth 

However she seems very reluctant to answer it.
