Gaynor looks depressed

Gaynor is looking very doleful as she sits at the table in Llwyncelyn;

"I think I've got everything"

Hywel comes downstairs and thinks that he has everything.   She checks that he has his slippers, toothbrush and charger, but he maintains, “If I’ve forgotten anything, I can pop back.”

"I don't think that's a good idea"

She does not regard that as a good idea;  “We need a clean slate – for Esther’s sake.   By the way, Esther is going to Celyn’s house after school – it will give you some time to unpack.   Right, you’d better be off.”

"Anyone would think you're trying to get rid of me"

“Anyone would think you’re trying to get rid of me,” he replies and turns to leave;

"One more thing – your key"

there is one more thing – she requires his key,

He hands it over . . .

which he hands over before opening the door.

. . . and Gaynor believes that she is shot of him

Gaynor breathes a sigh of relief, believing that she has got rid of him.

Colin looks at a photo of his sister

At number 21, Colin is staring at a photo of Yvonne;

"Doesn't she have a lovely smile?"

“Doesn’t she have a lovely smile?” he comments to Britt, “I know people say that when someone dies –

"In Yvonne's case, it's true"

“in Yvonne’s case, it’s true.”

"I'll cover for you at the shop"

Britt suggests that she should look after the shop today, so that he can have some time to himself.   Colin says that Eileen has already arranged for someone to cover

"I'm going to the police station"

and, in any case, he is going to the police station.   “I’m sure they would have been in touch if there was any news,” Britt tells him.

“I want to know where they are with identifying the body,” he explains,

"It's worse than terrible . . ."

“It’s terrible – no, it’s worse than terrible –

". . . it's shameful!"

“it’s shameful that they’re making us wait like this!”   With one last look at the photograph, he leaves the house.

Hywel is ready to move in

Outside, Hywel is just preparing to unload his car when Colin comes out;

"I'm in a rush – police station!"

“Sorry, Hywel, I’m in a rush – police station!”

"Thanks for giving me a hand, Jinx"

Jinx comes across the road, having been asked by Hywel to give him a hand with moving in.

"Gaynor's invited me for dinner"

Ffion comes out of the shop with some flowers and meets Maya;  “They’re for Gaynor.   She’s invited me over for dinner.”

"And me as well"

Maya is surprised that she has been invited as well, and was also going to get flowers.

"Curry and a pint tomorrow?"

Just then Kath approaches along the road, inviting them to come to the Deri for a curry and pint evening.

They will not be able to come

Maya unfortunately has a mindfulness class that evening and Ffion is also busy.

"Try to do things to bring the community together!"

This does not go down well with Kath;  “You try and do things to bring this community together!” she protests.

"Does Gaynor like red wine?"

Maya enquires whether Gaynor likes red wine.

"Yes, she does" — but rather too much!

“Yes, she does – did she tell you why she has invited us over?” Ffion wonders, and Maya did not think to ask.   “Well, we’ll find out soon enough.”

"Why haven't you finished packing?"

Hywel enters the house just as Britt is preparing to go out and demands why they have not finished packing;  “You knew I was moving back in today.   Jinx is unloading the car!”

"He'll just have to reload the car, then"

“Well, he’ll just have to reload the car, then,” is Britt’s casual reply.   Hywel warns her not to mess around,

"We had an agreement, Britt"

as they had an agreement – he was supposed to be back today.

"I'll contact my solicitor!"

She simply picks up her bag and is about to leave for MFC.

“Look, if you haven’t moved out by the end of the day, I’ll contact my solicitor!” he exclaims.

"What will he say about your shenanigans with Griffiths?"

“What do you think your solicitor will have to say about your shenanigans with Ieuan Griffiths, then?” she demands.

"What was it – a bribe?"

He does not know what she is talking about, so she elaborates, “Oh, yeah – I saw him pass you money – what was it, a bribe?”

"So you sent the video"

Now he realises who sent the video, but she assures him that she is not going to blab to anyone.

"We're not moving until we're ready!"

She makes it quite clear, “Colin and I are not moving until we’re ready!”

"But I've moved out of Llwyncelyn"

Hywel protests that he has moved out of Llwyncelyn and Esther has packed her stuff.

Britt does her dog whining impression

Britt’s only response is to start whining and howling like a dog and he realises that there is no point in his staying there.

Jinx finds Kelly in the deli

Kelly is sitting at a table in the deli when Jinx walks in and she asks if he is all right;

"I'm going to cut to the chase"

“Would you mind sitting down, please, just for a second?   I’m going to bypass the inevitable awkwardness and cut to the chase.”

"We're bound to bump into each other"

Jinx looks rather puzzled as she continues, “I think we should keep our distance for a while.”   He points out that they are bound to bump into each other in the village.

"No deep and meaningfuls"

“I know – polite conversation is fine, just no deep and meaningfuls,” she says;

"Like what we're doing now?"

he reminds her that is what is happening right now.   “Jinx, who knows, OK?   One day, perhaps, we will be able to meet for a cuppa and a chat like normal people,

"We need to sever all ties"

“but for now we need to sever all ties, because it’s easier for everyone, seriously.”

Dani sees them together

At that moment Dani comes in through the door and looks suspiciously at the two of them;

"Is everything OK?"

she asks Jinx if everything is OK

She casts a disapproving glance towards Kelly

and looks somewhat disparagingly at Kelly.

"I was cooking Beef Bourguignon"

Colin goes to see Gaynor, who is cooking Beef Bourguignon and complains that she smells of shallots.   “You wanted to ask me a favour?” she says

"Would you say a few words about Yvonne?"

and Colin explains that he would like it, if she is willing to say a few words about Yvonne in the memorial service.

“It will be a simple service in the Deri  – no fuss.”

"The police think it is Yvonne?"

She agrees that of course she will, and assumes that the police think that the body is Yvonne.

"They haven't confirmed anything yet"

“No, they haven’t confirmed anything officially yet, but I’d like to start the arrangements, because,

He is convinced that it is his sister

“well – you know – it is her.   Well, I won’t disturb your Beef whatever,” and Gaynor recommends that he should look after himself.

Hywel appears in the doorway
As he opens the door, he finds that Hywel is outside with his luggage;

"I can't leave Llwyncelyn tonight"

he pushes his way in, explaining that he cannot leave Llwyncelyn tonight.”

"You've already left, Hywel!"

Gaynor reminds him that he has already left and he explains that he had a word with Britt earlier, who said that they were not ready to leave yet.

Colin hears some surprising news

This comes as a surprise to Colin;  “I said you could stay for a while if you wanted to,” Hywel tells him

She has not seen the last of Hywel, after all

and Gaynor is far from happy about this development.   Colin of course is very grateful to him.

“Well where are you going to stay then?” Gaynor demands

"No, you're not . . ."

and he replies that he is on his way to unpack upstairs.   “No, you’re not!” she insists and Colin will leave them to it.

". . . you can't move back in!"

“Hywel, you can’t move back in!” she stipulates.   He angrily informs her that he is moving back in because he does not have a choice and goes upstairs.

Jinx has his pizza flour

Dani and Jinx, who is carrying a 16kg bag of Wright’s ‘Bravo’ pizza flour, go to the Pizza shop and she asks him, “Are you going to tell me what you and Kelly were talking about?   In ‘Tamed’ – you were a bit weird.”

"It was nothing"

He answers that it was nothing;  she wonders why he did not tell her that before

"Am I being suspected of something"

and he realises that he is being suspected of something.

"It doesn't help the paranoia"

“I don’t want to, you know, but you avoiding the question doesn’t help the paranoia,” says Dani.

Some more red wine

Gaynor is drinking a glass of red wine, as she so often does, when Hywel comes back down

"Esther is staying the night at Celyn's"

and lets her know that Esther is staying the night at Celyn’s, as Gaynor is having some friends over.

"Is there some room for you as well?"

“Oh, very convenient – is there some room there for you as well?” she sighs,

"Just stay out of my way tonight!"

“Look, I just want you to stay out of my way tonight, all right?   I’ve looked forward so much to having the girls over.”

"A party to celebrate me leaving?"

“What?   This is a party to celebrate me leaving?” he demands.

She does not want to argue with him;  she is glad Esther can stay there,

"It's supposed to be a day for me to move on"

“But today was supposed to be a day for me to move on – well, for us to move on – and for you to move out!”

Hywel tells her to slow down;  “You’re rambling here – have a glass of water.”

"You're determined to spoil my night, Hywel!'

Gaynor tells him to shut up and is convinced that he is determined to spoil her night.   However she is determined to enjoy herself with her friends;  “Have you got any left?” he asks.

"I want you out within the hour!"

She furiously shouts at him, “I want you and your stuff out of here within the hour, or you’ll regret it!”

He decides that he will go and have a bath

"Grrr!"

and she growls at him in annoyance.

"How on earth did you wangle it?"

At number 21 Britt is cooking when Colin returns home;  “How on earth did you wangle it so we don’t have to move out?” he wants to know.

"He simply changed his mind"

Britt replies that Hywel simply changed his mind.   “Britt, do you think I’m stupid?”

She does not think that but is scared of how he will react when she tells him the truth.

He is pleased to hear this

This makes him smile.

Notice the glass still in her hand

Gaynor opens the door to her to visitors and is obviously already well lubricated by the red wine.   She is pleased to see another bottle from Maya and the flowers.

"You're such lovely friends"

“You’re such lovely friends and so kind,” says Gaynor,

"I've got very special friends!"

then shouts upstairs, “I’ve got very special friends!”

She is not too steady on her legs . . .

She invites her guests to have a drink before food,

. . . and almost capsizes the table

but then lurches into a table, almost knocking it over.

"What are we celebrating?"

Ffion asks what they are celebrating and is told, “I don’t need a reason to have friends over.”

Not enough attention to the cooking times

Then Maya notices a strange smell and it transpires that the Dauphinoise Potatoes are definitely overcooked,

They try to look sympathetic

much to Gaynor’s dismay.

"You have nothing to worry about, Dani"

With their takeaway coffees from the deli, Jinx is trying to convince Danny that she has nothing to worry about with Kelly;  “She just wanted to explain that we have to keep away from each other for a while.”

"Why is that?"

Dani asks why that is, and Jinx does not have the answer;

"Perhaps Jason asked her to"

“Perhaps Jason asked her to, I don’t know – she’s only just returned to the village.   Dani, I don’t know anything more because she didn’t explain.   I thought the wisest thing to do was to do accept it.”

"Were you just talking upstairs during the fire?"

Doubts are still lingering in Dani’s mind;  “Were you just talking upstairs during the fire?” she asks

"I wouldn't lie to you, Dani"

and he assures her that he would not lie to her.   She is sorry for doubting him and he insists that there is no need to apologise.

"Considering our track record"

“I don’t blame you when you consider our track record –

"You're the one I want, OK?"

“but you have to remember you’re the one I want, Dani, OK?”

Underneath that layer of burnt potatoes, they should be all right

They sit at the table in Llwyncelyn, with the rather overdone Dauphinoise Potatoes on view and Gaynor is still imbibing red wine.

"It's horrible, isn't it?"

She groans, “I’m sorry – it’s horrible, isn’t it?”

"I like the carrots"

Maya insists that she likes the carrots which makes Gaynor giggle;  she suggests that she should get a takeaway, but Ffion tells her to sit down, because they are all right.

She has trouble standing up

Gaynor seems to have considerable difficulty standing up, anyway.

"I wanted tonight to be special"

Ffion and Maya look at each other as Gaynor continues, “I wanted tonight to be special – I’ve looked forward to it so much.”   They try to convince her that they have had a lovely time, but she wails, “I really wanted it to be nice – but then Colin came over and I had some wine –

"Then Hywel and his boxes came back"

“and then Hywel and his boxes came back and I had some more wine.

“He left with his boxes and then he came back with his boxes – and he’s upstairs with his boxes.   He was supposed to move out today, but he’s back – in fact he’s upstairs in the bath –

"I hope he drowns"

“I hope he drowns!   It’s not fair, is it, Ffion?   He was supposed to move out – I don’t know what I’ve done to deserve this.”

The glass of wine is knocked over

Then she manages to knock over her glass of wine, repeatedly whimpering, “I’m sorry!”   She struggles to her feet, with extreme difficulty.

"Gaynor is going to say a few words"

Colin tells Britt that Gaynor has agreed to say a few words,

"Don't you think you should wait a while?"

but she points out, “Colin – don’t you think you should wait a while?   At least until the body is released.”

"I'm tired of waiting, Britt"

He is adamant that he is tired of waiting;  “We’ll have a small private funeral later, but in the meantime I want to arrange this – I don’t want things to drag on and on like they did with Izzy.   I just want to draw a line under it, so we can try to move on with our lives.”

"You must do what you feel is right"

She is in agreement that he has to do what he feels is right.   “I know that you and Yvonne were never close . . .”

"Its as difficult to get to know the real Yvonne"

 Britt maintains that it was very difficult to get to know the real Yvonne.   “Yes, and that’s why I want people to get to know her now in this service – and that’s why I want you to . . .

"I want you to help arrange it"

“I’d like it if you helped me to arrange it.”

She looks at the photo

She looks across at the photograph.

"No, Gaynor – you don't want any more!"

As Gaynor is about to help herself to another glass of wine, Ffion prevents her, insisting that she does not want any more.   “It’s no wonder you’re upset,” says Maya.

The last two weeks have been so hard"

Gaynor sobs, “The last two weeks have been so hard – I argued with Cheryl – and then I hear that the body they’ve discovered could be Yvonne!   I’m worrying so much about Colin –

"Then I started to think about Izzy"

“then I started to think about Izzy.   But one good thing was about to happen – Hywel was moving out!   I wanted to celebrate with my friends – because I have lovely friends.

"Maya, you're lovely"

“You, Maya – you’re lovely and you’re trying so hard with the Welsh.

"Ffion – you've had nights of being drunk!"

“Ffion, you had your share of problems – you’ve had nights like this – being drunk – well, you’ve been through much more than me.”

"It will pass, Gaynor"

Ffion can appreciate that she has been through a difficult period, but it will pass.   “Cheryl can’t be angry with you for ever – and all the bottles of wine in the world can’t bring Yvonne back.   You have to look after yourself now, OK?”

"I'm going to do something about Hywel"

“Yes, look after myself – that’s what I’m going to do.   I’m going to do something about Hywel!” Gaynor resolves

They think this sounds ominous

and staggers from the room.

Now Kelly is in the Deri

Kelly is doing some Tomos ac Ellis work on her laptop in the Deri;

"Weight of the world on you shoulders, is it?"

Kath can see that she has the weight of the world on her shoulders,

"I'm just a bit tired"

but Kelly insists that she is fine, only a bit tired.

“Are you sure that’s all that’s wrong?” Kath goes on.   Now Kelly has to go and put some crispy pancakes in the oven.

"Sorry if I put my foot in it the other day"

“Listen, I’m sorry if I put my foot in it the other day – when I told Jason how upset you were after Jinx left.   I didn’t mean to create problems.”

"Jason and I understand each other"

Kelly is adamant, “Jason and I are fine, OK?   We understand each other.”   Kath is pleased to hear it and adds that they make a nice couple.

Then she remembers what she was publicising earlier;

"Fancy a date night here tomorrow night?"

“Do you fancy a date night here tomorrow night?” she asks.

"I think that sounds lush"

Kelly replies, “I think that sounds lush, actually – book us in – it’s important we have quality time together.”

"Looking forward to it"

Kath looks forward to seeing her,

Their names go on the list

adding Jason and Kelly to her list, just below Dani and Jinx.

Gaynor is completely 'out of it'

Gaynor has now passed out on the sofa and Ffion can get no sense out of her;

"Is she going to be all right?"

“Is she going to be all right?   What if she’s sick in the night?” worries Maya.

Someone is at the door

Then they hear a knock at the door;

PC Lesley Thomas has been called

upon opening it, Ffion discovers PC Lesley Thomas.   Hywel has just come downstairs in his dressing gown and is told, “We’ve had a phone call about a disturbance –

"You're trespassing!"

“we’ve had a complaint – you’re trespassing!”

"I live here!"

Hywel cannot believe this and stresses that he lives there;

"Not according to your ex-wife"

“Not according to your ex-wife,” the PC tells him.

"I am his ex-wife, but . . ."

“I’m not his ex-wife,” Ffion is quick to point out, then adding, “That is, I am his ex wife, but . . .”

PC Thomas wants to know who made the phone call in that case;

"Don't look at me!"

Maya says, “Don’t look at me – I’m not Mrs Llywelyn!”

The complainant is in no fit state to comment

She and Ffion move aside when Hywel asks where Gaynor is, to reveal her, in a drunken stupor, on the sofa.
