Siôn is doing some translating

Siôn is looking at his laptop, then, as he turns to get more coffee, he finds Cai standing in the doorway.

"Are you busy, Siôn?"

“Good morning,” he says, “Are you busy?”

"Just translating"

Siôn replies that he is just doing some translation work.   “I’m going for a walk – do you want to come?” Cai asks,  “You’re the one who wants to talk – this is your chance.”

"Near Troserch Woods"

Siôn is anxious to know where he is going and is told, “The Llanelli area, near Troserch Woods.”   He nervously suggests that they should go to ‘Tamed’ and have something to eat;  Cai agrees, adding that they can go for a walk afterwards.   Siôn will go and get his coat.

Cai takes a key from a drawer . . .

Cai goes over to the dresser, where he takes a key from the drawer;

. . . but Siôn is watching

Siôn notices this.   Then they leave the house.

Howard is doing some writing

At Deri Fawr, Howard is laboriously trying to write something when Eileen suddenly walks in.

"So this ia where you're hiding"

“So this is where you’re hiding,” she announces and gives him a start.

"You can't just walk into people's houses!"

He protests that she cannot just walk into people’s houses.   “You do it in my home!” she retorts

"That's different – I work there"

and he points out that is different, because he works there

"I want you to look at one of the dogs"

“I’m not staying long, anyway,” she tells him, “I want you to take a look at one of the hunting dogs – he’s lame, and I want him right for the hunt next week.   I’ve put him in the shed.”

Howard tries to hide the book . . .

Howard gets up and tries to hide the book from which he was copying,

. . . but Eileen has already seen it

but Eileen has noticed.

"I'll phone the vet if I have to"

“I’ll phone the vet if I have to,” he tells her.

“I hope not – that would cost a fortune,” she sneers and he reminds her that this is the third dog that has been ill or injured recently.

"Why do you have a Sali Mali book here?"

However, she changes the subject and asks, “Why do you have a Sali Mali book here?”

"Ken or Tegwen must have left it"

He makes up an excuse that either Ken or Tegwen must have left it there, but Eileen maintains that she thought she saw it several weeks ago.

"I thought he would have moved on to 'Pry Bach Tew'

“I would have thought that Ken had moved on to the ‘Pry Bach Tew’ by now!” [A children’s story about a little fat fly who enjoys driving his car]

Howard is glad she is going

Howard is pleased to see the back of her as she walks out of the farmhouse.

"Yes, OK, thanks"

DJ is speaking on the phone in the deli, then announces to Sioned, “Those Penclawdd cockles are proving popular.”   She recommends that they order some more

"I'm going out for a walk"

and is now going out for a walk;

"Make sure it is just a walk"

he reminds her that it must be nothing more than a walk.

Sioned spots her mother coming . . .

Just as she is about to go, she sees her mother approaching outside;  “I don’t have the energy for her today –

. . . and escapes by the back way

“I’ll go out the back,” Sioned groans.

"I'm not here to make you feel awkward"

Eileen tells him, “Look, DJ, I’m not here to point the finger or make you feel awkward, so I think we should forget what happened the other day – for the sake of the business and the family.”

"You're the one putting the business and family at risk"

He points out that she is the one putting the business and the family at risk by carrying on with this illegal nonsense,

"Keep your voice down, will you?"

but she cautions him to keep his voice down, in case someone hears.   “Business is business!” she insists, “The season is about to end and we’ve made a big profit!”

"Money is not everything"

DJ warns that money is not everything;  “A good reputation is priceless.”

"You could start selling Cae Glas produce again"

She suggests that one way of making things easier is for ‘Tamed’ to start selling Cae Glas produce again.

DJ will talk to Sioned about that, and Eileen says that she will have a flat white while she is waiting.

"Business is business, isn't it?"

“That will be £2.50 to you,” he says and when she objects to this, he adds, “Business is business, isn’t it?”

Cai and Siôn come in

Cai and Siôn come through the door,

Siôn is scared stiff

with Siôn still looking terrified;  he insists that he will pay.

"I'll have a latté"

Cai would like a latté.   “You know you said there was something you had to do before you can move on?” Siôn begins. “What is it?”   Cai will show him later.

"Why do you have to be so cryptic?"

“Why do you have to be so cryptic?   Just tell me what you intend to do!” demands Siôn, but Cai does not want to discuss things in public.   “Just be honest with me!” snarls Siôn.

"What can I get you, boys?"

DJ comes across to ask what he can get them.

Griffiths turns up at the shop flat

Rhys is sitting mournfully on the sofa in the shop flat when Griffiths arrives;  “Didn’t you get my text?” asks Rhys.

"Well, at least you're not in bed"

He is asked how he is;  at least he is not in bed.   Rhys wants to know what he is there.

"Can you help me, please?"

“Well, listen, I know you’re not well enough to come into work but can you help me, please?   I’ve got five houses completing today and I can’t wait until next week for them to go through.

"Kelly's busy doing viewings all day"

“I know you’re not 100%, but we could work here – please help me, Rhys – Kelly’s busy doing viewings all day.   If you agree,

"I'll pay you double!"

“I’ll pay you double!”

This might have swayed his opinion

At this, Rhys does start to take notice

Sioned is staggering along

Contrary to what she said, Sioned has actually been for a run and managed to injure herself in the process;  she comes limping up the back street, where Maya notices her.

"I've just twisted something"

Although she says that she is fine, Maya can clearly see that she is limping and she admits that she has just twisted something.

She is assisted to the pharmacy

“Will you let me have a quick look?   You can come inside.”

"Sit down there"

Sioned is assisted in through the back door of the pharmacy and invited to sit down.

Maya investigates

Maya removes her shoe as gently as possible;

"It must have been coming off the pavement or something"

“I must have twisted it coming off the pavement or something,” Sioned groans,

"My fault for not warming up properly"

It’s my fault for not warming up properly,” and she is reprimanded for not doing so.

“I think it’s safe to say that nothing is broken,” is the initial diagnosis,

"What you need is lots of rest and RICE"

“So you need lots of rest and RICE.”   Sioned sarcastically enquires whether she should boil or steam it.

"Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation"

Maya explains, “Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation,” which Sioned did of course already know.

"Any more advice, Florence Nightingale?"

She asks if Florence Nightingale has any more words of advice;

"Don't worry – everything will be fine"

she is told, “Don’t worry – everything will be fine,”

"You haven't touched your food"

In the deli, Cai points out that Siôn has not touched his food;

Siôn has lost his appetite

“I’ve lost my appetite,” he says.   Cai maintains that when they get their bill they can go for that walk;  he can take the roll with him.

"Do we have to go somewhere so remote?"

“Do we have to go somewhere so remote?” Siôn demands.

"There's some thing, somewhere, I want to show you"

“There’s something, somewhere, I want to show you,” replies Cai.

Sioned's state worries her mother

Sioned comes in through the door, assisted by Maya (who has presumably left the pharmacy unattended).

"I just twisted my ankle"

Her mother is very concerned to see her;  “Sioned, what have you done, love?” she exclaims.   She is informed that Sioned has just twisted her ankle.

"Sioned, what have you done?"

DJ is likewise concerned, as Maya warns her that there is to be no more running or rugby practice.

Siôn rummages in Cai's pocket . . .

While Cai’s back is turned, Siôn surreptitiously looks through the pockets of his jacket,

. . . finding a key to 'The Cabin'

discovering the key with its tag, reading ‘The Cabin, Heol y Nant, Llanelli’.

Meanwhile there is great concern that Sioned has started running again to get herself fit;  she protests that she had spoken to the doctor, who said it was fine as long as she sticks to the cardio exercises and does not do any close contact.

He slips away while everyone's back is turned . . .

Unnoticed, Siôn slips out of the door

. . . and hurries off

and hurries away;  Maya also has to go to get back to her shop.   Eileen demands some explanations about this running and rugby, but Sioned just wants to be taken home.

"I'll follow you home"

DJ intends to follow them there, telling Anita, who has been sitting quietly in the background for some time, that he has to close.

"It's on the house, Cai"

He informs Cai that he can have his order on the house,

Anita volunteers to take over

and Anita is insisting that she can look after the place in DJ’s absence.

"Did you notice where Siôn went?"

Cai looks around and asks if Anita noticed where Siôn went.   She has no idea,

There is no key

so he feels in his jacket and finds that the key is missing

"You need an ice pack"

Sioned has arrived home and puts her foot up while her mother goes to fetch an ice pack;

"Stop fussing, Mam – I'm all right!"

“Stop fussing, Mam – I’m all right,” she argues, but as the ankle has started to swell, she will be given Ibuprofen as well.   “I’ve just taken Paracetamol,” Sioned protests, so is informed that both can be taken together, because it is an anti-inflammatory.

"Just in case"

Sioned is very reluctant to take it;  “Just in case,” she adds.

"You're pregnant?"

Her mother realises that she may be pregnant, just as DJ enters the room.   “No, we’re not expecting a baby – but we are trying,” Sioned confirms.

"That's the best news I've had for a while"

Eileen is very glad that they are doing so after everything that has happened;  “That is the best news I’ve had for a while,” but she is warned not to get too excited, and not to tell anyone, either.

"We don't want people interfering"

“The last thing we want is people interfering in our business.”   Eileen promises not to say a word.

"That's why we're worried about Penrhewl's reputation . . ."

DJ stresses that is why they are so worried about Penrhewl’s reputation;  they are protecting Penrhewl for the future –

". . . our child's future"

for their child’s future – and they hope that things will work out this time.

Eileen says that the hunting season is almost over, so he wonders about next season;

"We'll see what happens, shall we?"

“Well, we’ll see what happens, shall we?” is her reply.

"I want you to slow down, good girl!"

Then she turns to her daughter, “I want you to slow down, good girl – no rugby training, running or anything that puts a strain on you.   And you can forget about ‘Tamed’ as well –

"DJ can look after that place"

“DJ can look after that place.”

"Whoa, hang on – I'm not ill!"

Sioned is not standing for this;  “Whoa, hang on – I’m not ill!”   Her mother is insistent that she must look after herself.

Siôn's car speeds along . . .

Siôn’s car is speeding along a country road and reaches a field gateway where he pulls in.

. . . before stopping in a field gateway

He quickly get out of the car and as he approaches the gate

He ignores the call from Cai . . .

receives a phone call from Cai, which he ignores and looks anxiously back along the road.

. . . and proceeds across the field

He goes through the gate which bears a sign ‘The Cabin’ and runs across the field.

"What's happened to you, then?"

Howard comes into Penrhewl and sees Sioned with her foot up;  “What’s happened to you, then?” he asks, “So there are two patients at Penrhewl.”

"I think Wmffra's leg is broken"

Eileen walks in and asks about the dog;  “I’ve had a look at Wmffra and I think his leg’s broken,” Howard tells her, “He’s holding it up and can’t put any weight on it.”

"I can sympathise with that"

Sioned can sympathise with that,

"Unlike you, I think we'll have to put him down"

and he advises, “Unlike you, I think we’ll have to put him down.   It’s the kindest thing to do.”

"Aren't you going to give him a chance?"

Sioned is incensed;  “Aren’t you going to give him a chance to get better?”

"We can't afford to be sentimental"

Her mother argues that they cannot be afford to be sentimental – hunting dogs are working dogs, not pets.   They have to be treated like stock – and business is business.

"He won't suffer"

Howard assures Sioned that he will not suffer.

"You can phone the vet in Cwrtmynach"

Eileen takes this chance to show Howard the phone book, so he can phone the vet in Cwrtmynach.   She has concluded that he cannot read, and he gives the excuse that he had better wash his hands first.

Sioned wonder what her mother is up to

This serves to confirm her suspicions.

Siôn reaches The Cabin . . .

Siôn approaches the cabin, overlooking the river,

. . . and unlocks the door

and uses the key to open its door.

He finds a scene of chaos . . .

There is a scene of disorder which greets him

. . . with blood-stained cloths lying around

and he sees a number of bloodstained cloths, as well as empty cans and packets.

He is panicked by the noise of a nearby crow . . .

He is startled by the sound of a crow outside and is in rather a panic.

. . . and peers anxiously across the field

He looks out of the window across the field which he has just crossed.

Rhys is not in the mood for work

Griffiths is typing away on his laptop while Rhys appears half asleep;

"I expect my money's worth out of you today!"

“Hey, I expect my money’s worth out of you today!” Griffiths snaps, but Rhys says he is too ill to work today after all, even willing to forgo the double pay.

He argues that he needs to go to bed;  “Do you mind going back to the office?”

"But you're looking better"

Ieuan tries to convince him that he is looking better with more colour in his cheeks.   “Why are you so desperate to complete these houses today?” Rhys demands.

A young lady appears

As he is about to receive a reply, there is a knock on the door and a young lady, Louise, appears;

"I might have forgotten my earrings"

“Sorry to disturb – and don’t think I left them here on purpose – but I think I might have forgotten my earrings,” she says,

Hang on – Louise?   Any connection with 'Meddal'?

“Do you mind if I go and check?”

Ieuan realises what is going on

Ieuan looks at Rhys

"That last baby Guinness was a mistake!"

as she continues, “How do you feel today?   I still think that last baby Guinness was a mistake!”

"You're hungover, not ill!"

“You’re hungover, not ill!” rages Griffiths;  Rhys complains that he has got a sore throat,

"You can forget your pay today!"

but is emphatically informed, “You can forget your pay today – you’re working for free!   Now type!   Sore throat, indeed!”   Rhys cannot stop himself smiling when he remembers last night

Sioned sits quietly, but as soon as she stands up . . .

Sioned sits quietly at Penrhewl, but when she stands up,

. . . Eileen starts

Eileen immediately protests;  “Mam, I’m all right – how many times do I have to say it?

'I'm going up for a bath"

“I’m just going up for a bath.”   She is told to use the bath salts – but ought to check first, to make sure.

Sioned – the bathroom is not that way!

However, Sioned does not go upstairs;  rather she creeps quietly out of the front door.

Siôn finds a length of rope . . .

Siôn conducts a further investigation of the cabin, prying underneath the bed, where, amongst other things he finds a length of rope

. . . and a vicious-looking knife . . .

and a large knife, which make him anxious.

. . . then a book, containing Cai's innermost feelings . . .

He finds a book next to the sink and opens it to reveal the words, ‘SO ANGRY’

. . . aimed at Siôn

and ‘KILL, KILL, KILL   I HATE SIÔN’.   He is almost in tears.

Sioned seeks sanctuary in the pharmacy

Maya discovers that Sioned has left something behind in the pharmacy and at that moment Sioned arrives.

"Did you come back for this?"

“Did you come back for this?” Maya asks.

“No – but thanks,” she replies, “I just wanted to escape for a while –

"Mam is doing my head in!"

“Mam was fussing and doing my head in, as per usual!”

Maya reproves her for driving into the village;

"You're supposed to be resting that bloody foot!"

“You’re supposed to be resting that bloody foot!”   She is accused of being worse than Sioned’s mother.

Maya is sorry that she put her foot in it about the running, but Sioned is just grateful for the help.

"Any chance of a cup of tea?"

“Is there any chance I could hide here for a while?” she enquires, “Cup of tea, perhaps?”

Howard brings in the dog's collar

Howard comes back into Penrhewl and is told that they did the right thing;  “Another bill will arrive from the vet now.”   Howard has brought the dog’s collar, as something to remember him by.

"I don't want his dirty collar!"

“Eurgh!   I don’t want his dirty collar!” she exclaims, “Come on – you've obviously got something to say.”

"You kept Fflam's collar"

He replies that she kept Fflam’s collar

"Fflam was different"

and she angrily maintains that Fflam was different, instructing him to burn it.

"I think you should sign a contract . . ."

Then she suggests that he should sign a contract to make things of official between them;

". . . you don't have to sign now . . ."

“You’d be more certain about your pay and rights then.   You don’t have to sign now –

"You can take it away and read the details"

“you can take it away and read the details.”

"I'd better get back to work"

He agrees that he will do that and had better get back to work now;

Eileen taking advantage of someone else – again!

Eileen is obviously scheming again.

Cai approaches The Cabin . . .

Cai approaches The Cabin as inconspicuously as possible

. . . walks up to the door . . .

and then walks up to the door,

. . . and can see Siôn

where he can see Siôn still rifling through his belongings.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?"

He quietly opens the door and sternly demands, “What the hell do you think you’re doing?”

Siôn is still holding the book . .

Siôn, still holding the book,

. . . and seems to be in fear of his life

looks absolutely terrified.
