His father tells him not to talk nonsense,

but he continues, “Please tell me it’s not Ffion.”

"You're leaving it a bit late for your film" |
Siôn maintains that his son is leaving it a bit late to go and see the film, and stresses that it is not Ffion.
“Are you going to tell me who it is?” Iolo asks, “Do you want me to text you on the way home, just in case?” Siôn glowers at him and he leaves the house.

At Llwyncelyn, Rhys is angry; “Have you seen this? ‘He defo did it. Guys like him should be put away’.”

"I told you not to read that stuff" |
Hywel has already told him not to read that stuff, but he protests, “I can’t help it – it’s all over social media.” There is a knock at the door and Rhys sinks into a chair, while his father goes to answer it.

The caller is Mathew, who has come to bring back Rhys’ iPad.

Mathew hands it to him; “You want to make sure I don’t come back, is it?” Rhys growls, but Mathew simply thought that he might need it.
“Have you seen what people have been saying about me?” Mathew advises him to just ignore it. “How can I?

“Everyone thinks I have an agenda to take advantage of people – even the police suspect me.”

"Delyth wanted an informal conversation" |
His father interrupts to say that he thought Delyth just wanted an informal conversation, but Rhys is sure that she considers him guilty.

"Do you still think I did it?" |
“Now the police are keeping an eye on me – thanks to Sioned. Do you still think I did it?”

Mathew remains silent |
Mathew does not answer, so Rhys laughs, “You can’t even look at me – Math, after all the years we’ve been friends, do you think I’d do that? You’ve been brainwashed by Sioned.

"Why is she determined to ruin my life?" |
“Why is she so determined to ruin my life? She has something against me – she’s on a mission to make everyone think I’m guilty!” He storms out of the room.

Out in the street, Sioned is talking to Jinx; “I can’t believe Megan went to the police,” she says and Jinx has never felt so ashamed.

He assumes that they must have believed him, as he is there, talking to her.

Then Iolo approaches, and she tells him, “It’s a shame – someone set him up for stealing from the food bank – who would do such a thing? It makes you wonder who you can trust round here.”
She continues her journey to the Deri with a box of Cae Glas produce, and Iolo realises that he has to do something.

At the end of the street he sees Britt coming out of number 21 and instructs her to go back inside, as he wants a word with her.

“These pranks – I know I promised I wouldn’t tell anyone – but Jinx has been questioned by the police.”

“It’s not my fault Megan went to the cops,” she replies, so he wonders what she did think would happen.

Iolo insists this has gone too far.

Jinx rather naïvely comments that he cannot think of better foster parents.

Cassie asks Colin if he has thought any more about Eileen’s offer;

he replies, “Yes, I’m going to accept her offer – listen, Cas, I want to keep my job – especially if I’ve got a house-full of children to look after.”

Cassie reminds him, “That woman owes you money – if Britt knew . . .” Colin is confident that she will not find out, because Cassie gave her word, which she regards as unfortunate.

As he leaves the Deri, he meets Hywel; “Oi! Did you get the message about the boiler – it’s still on the blink,” he complains, and Hywel protests that he has only just walked through the door. “It needs to be sorted!” Colin exclaims.

“I think it’s important to discuss the next steps regarding Cai,” he says, but she cannot stay for long, as she has work to do by tomorrow.
He takes her coat and then she notices the table;

“This isn’t for me, is it?” she asks; he maintains that they might as well enjoy themselves while they talk, and invites her to take a seat.

while she is rather uncomfortable at his proximity. “I’ve been looking for an excuse to try it out.”

At number 21, Iolo points out, “You do realise that this is Gwyneth’s fault?”
Britt replies that she is no longer there; “Even after dying, she’s still destroying everything! But Jinx had an opportunity to make up for that.”

Iolo reminds her that Jinx also suffered at Gwyneth’s hands; “Jaclyn – she was expecting his baby when she died – perhaps he thinks he deserves the house as much as Gwern.”

At that moment Colin bursts in through the front door, shouting for Britt; “I’ve been looking for you outside – have you forgotten the interview?” She immediately gets up and goes with him, as he comments, “We don’t want them to think we’re unreliable – we have to go.”
Sioned is loading more boxes of organic veg into the 4x4 at Penrhewl when Rhys approaches. “Happy now? You got what you wanted – you’ve turned everyone against me!” he moans.

After describing him as talking nonsense, she gets into the 4x4 and drives away.

Siôn enquires whether the sauce was too salty, adding that it is difficult to know with sea salt. Ffion is keen to turn the conversation to Cai;

Rhys has gone up to the shop flat, where he reasons with Mathew, “Think about it – she insisted on coming to the party and she was flirting with you, flat out.”

Mathew regards this whole thing as ridiculous; “Is it? Open your eyes, Math – why was she so quick to go to the police and accuse me? It’s the best way to draw attention away from herself.”

Hywel continues drinking in the Deri,

although Cassie is of the opinion that he has had enough.

“I’m not going to listen to Rhys, feeling sorry for himself – I’m going to stay and enjoy myself, so I’ll have another one, please.”

Colin and Britt come in, after their interview, and Colin would rather just go home, but Britt insists that they will have a bottle of beer each. “The fostering interview was harder than we expected – this bipolar business.”

Colin adds that the fact that they had both been in prison did not help, but Britt maintains that will not prevent them fostering. “You heard what the woman said – it will just take longer to assess us, that’s all.”

Sioned comes in with the box of vegetables as Britt says she is going to celebrate, even if Colin will not. She even offers Sioned a drink as well, so she wonders what Britt is celebrating.

“We’ve taken the first steps to becoming foster parents – fingers crossed, we’ll have a house full of children before long.” Sioned will have a lemonade. “Mind you,” Britt goes on, “I don’t know how I’ll be the second time around.

Hywel pipes up, “You did a great job the first time, didn’t you?”

This angers Colin, who growls, “What about the job you’re supposed to do? That house isn’t fit for children – I’m not standing here with him!” and he marches out, followed by Britt.

Sioned remarks to Hywel, “He’s right, you know – you’re the last person who should be throwing stones. Your son isn’t a great example to the community, is he?”

She tells Cassie to forget that lemonade and leaves as well. “What’s wrong with these girls?” Hywel asks, “Can’t they take a compliment or what?”

At Y Felin, Siôn continues, “And sometimes it’s difficult to see what is under your nose – until someone opens your eyes. Perhaps that’s what the kiss was.”

“Well, it’s important that we are united in supporting him,” says Siôn, “I heard a podcast last week on mental health – a good one – and I downloaded it. I thought we could listen to it – it’s only an hour long.”

Ffion welcomes Iolo’s arrival, to save her from the podcast; “Sorry to disturb you – I missed the film and . . .” He is shocked to see Ffion there.

“Listen – about Cai – it would be such a relief if he could live here after leaving hospital,” Ffion begins, and Iolo says that has already been agreed with his father.
Ffion now decides it is time that she went and thanks Siôn for dinner;

In the Deri, Iolo sits, looking at his pint as Cassie discovers that Colin has left his foster parent documentation behind

Jinx comes in and is sorry to disturb Cassie, but wonders if she has any salami she can sell him, as the pizza shop has run out.

Jinx comments that business is picking up a little, and Iolo remarks that it was probably kids playing games.

“No, this was personal – I’ve offended someone, somehow,” Jinx concludes, “Who knows what they’ll do next? They’ve tried to give me a criminal record – where will they stop?”

Iolo appears confident that they will leave him alone now, but Jinx is anticipating worse to come. Iolo decides that he had better take the paperwork to Colin and Britt; “Jinx, you’ll be fine,” he says.

“Sorry – it affects more than just my business – I’m on tenterhooks,” Jinx replies.
Iolo reveals that he might know who it was, and is confident that it will not happen again;

and Britt tells Iolo to phone for an ambulance.
