Rhys comes back out of Tomos ac Ellis

Rhys comes out of Tomos ac Ellis with a triumphant expression on his face and looks at the keys he has collected;

"Is Ieuan there?"

Anita approaches and asks if Ieuan is there.

"He finished ages ago"

“No, he finished ages ago,” Rhys replies, “And didn’t say where he was going.”

"What are you doing there at this time?"

This does not go down well with Anita and she wonders what Rhys is doing in the office at this time of day.   “I needed to do a few extra hours,” he lies, “I wanted catch up, so I don’t let Ieuan down again.”

"Enjoy your evening"

He hopes that she enjoys her evening,

Kelly hopes to avoid Auntie Anita

and Anita grumbles, “I’m sure I will – once I find Ieuan!”   In the background, Kelly and Jason can be seen hurrying across the road to the Deri.

"Let's go somewhere else"

When they open the door, the first thing that Jason sees is Howard, who is chatting up the two girls and Kelly has difficulty pulling him inside;  she explains that she does not want Auntie Anita spoiling their date night.

Howard looks round and Jason immediately wants to go somewhere else;

"That scumbag's not allowed to spoil our night"

“No – that scumbag’s not allowed to spoil our night!” insists Kelly, “We can’t let him win – pint?”   He will go and find a table.

Kelly goes to the bar

Kelly goes to the bar, and then Rhys returns;  his father asks him what he wants to drink.

Rhys is keeping an eye on Howard

“As you’re offering, I’ll try one of the new beers, please,” he answers.   Hywel asks if he is going out tonight;

"We're going to a party"

he is told that they are going to a party and Rhys wastes no time in trying to remove Howard from the proximity of the girls.

"Is he hassling you?"

“Is he hassling you?” he asks them, so Howard accuses him of hassling them

"Go and keep Daddy company"

and tells him to go and keep daddy company.   Rhys explains that Jade and Ceri are with him and Mathew.

"Do you want to go outside?"

“Do you want to go outside and sort this out?” Howard challenges him

"Howard is just leaving"

and Hywel can see that trouble is brewing, so intervenes.   Rhys maintains that Howard is just leaving,

"They're boring, anyway"

so he simply dismisses the girls as boring;  “They suit you and your boyfriend perfectly,” he sneers.

"Thanks for that"

The girls thank Rhys for getting rid of him, but Howard goes across to where Kelly and Jason are sitting,

"Enjoy your evening, lovebirds"

commenting, “Enjoy your evening, lovebirds.”

"You don't want to cross that one"

Meanwhile, Hywel warns his son that Howard is not one to be crossed, but Rhys is adamant that he can look after himself.

Rhys shows off the keys

Then Mathew is informed that they are ready for a party, displaying the keys.   He will not reveal where they are going,

"We'll have a night to remember!"

but whispers to Mathew, “If things go as I hope, we’ll have a night to remember!”

Jinx turns down the chance of a party . . .

The four of them leave the Deri;  on the way out, they meet Jinx, who is asked if he fancies a party, but he declines the invitation.

. . . Sioned, on the other hand, cannot wait

However, when Sioned comes in, she immediately agrees to accompany them.

"I don't think that's a good idea, Sioned"

Mathew does not consider that it is a good idea, with her health problem.

“If I was still ill, I’d be in hospital!” she insists

"Just don't tell anyone – right?"

and Rhys swears her to secrecy.   Now the five of them leave.

Eileen prepares dinner

At Penrhewl, Eileen is preparing the meal when DJ comes in;

"I'm starving"

he is pleased to hear that dinner is almost ready

"Where's Sioned?"

and Eileen asks where Sioned is.   He was under the impression that she was at the farm;

"I left her having her hair done"

“I left her with Cheryl, having her hair done.”   Her mother imagines that she has probably gone for a walk before dinner.

“Do you think I should send her message to check she’s all right?” he continues,

"She'll be back soon"

but Eileen is confident that Sioned will be home soon and she does not think that keeping a close eye on her is helping anyone.

"She wants her freedom back"

“She wants her freedom back,” she points out,

"I can't help worrying"

but DJ cannot help worrying.   “We’re all worried – you know what Sioned is like – she likes her independence.

"You go and lay the table"

“So put that phone down and lay the table.”

"I worked all day and partied all night"

As they come into the Deri, Anita is anxious that Ieuan is not working Rhys too hard.   “When I was his age, I worked all day, partied all night – and I had two children,” he answers.

"Oh – Kelly and Jason are here"

Then Anita notices that Kelly and Jason are there, much to Kelly’s dismay;

"We're on a 'date night'"

“I don’t believe it!” she groans, explaining to Anita that it is a ‘date night.’

"And that's why we're leaving now!"

“And that’s why we’re leaving now!” adds Jason, then improvises, “We’ve got a table booked in Carmarthen in 30 minutes.”

"Where are we going?"

Before they go out of the door, Kelly asks, “Where are we going?” and he has no idea, suggesting that they could go home, for a film and an MFC – a bit of quality time by themselves.   He tells her to go and choose a film;

"Yeah – good plan"

he will get the MFC, which she regards as a good plan.

They arrive in the luxurious house

The partygoers enter the house and put down the cans of drink,

"Don't be such a 'wuss', Math"

while Mathew is not at all happy about this.   “Don’t be such a ‘wuss’!” sneers Rhys, and he is reminded that he went mad with Tesni when she had a party in a house for sale.

“This is different – I know what I’m doing,” Rhys boasts, but Mathew is worried that the girls, who they do not know, might trash the place.

Sioned can see a lot of alcohol . . .

Sioned is very impressed with the house and Rhys invites them all to have a drink.

. . . and selects a bottle

Sioned fancies a bottle of something from the wine rack and Mathew is detailed to find the glasses,

"Let me show you the rest of the house, girls"

while Rhys will show Jade and Ceri the rest of the house.

Sioned opens the bottle to which she has helped herself,

Mathew is not in the mood for drinking

but Mathew is not in the mood for drinking.   “Why?   Scared the owners will catch you drinking their champagne?” Sioned taunts him.

He is adamant that it is not a good idea for her to be drinking;

"Before I drink it out of the bottle"

“Just bring the glasses over here, before I drink it out of the bottle,” she snarls.   The sound of loud music can be heard and then

DJ tries to contact her

Sioned’s phone receives a call from DJ, which she ignores,

"It's not important"

maintaining that it is not important;  she hands him a glass of champagne.

"Nobody's seen her since you did her hair"

DJ has gone over to Maes-y-Deri, where he tells Cheryl, “Nobody has seen her since you went over to do her hair,” and she wonders what he is suggesting.   “I’m just asking if you know where she’s gone,” DJ continues.

"OK – there's no easy way you say this . . ."

“OK – there’s no easy way to say this – we had a chat

". . . she's totally frustrated"

“and she’s totally frustrated, because you won’t let her do what she wants.”

"I'm just being careful"

He replies that he is merely being careful,

"She feels like a prisoner"

but is told, “She feels like a prisoner – I’ve already said too much.”

DJ begs her and she adds that she has a shift in the Deri now,

"I gave her a lift to the village"

“But I gave her a lift to the village after doing her hair.”   He immediately walks out of the door, but Cheryl says that she will come with him.

"This nonsense stops tonight!"

Rather than going to MFC, Jason has gone to Deri Fawr, where he instructs Howard., “This nonsense stops tonight – get me?   I’m fed up with having you there like a shadow, every time Kelly and I are out!”

"I was just having a drink"

Howard protests that he was merely having a drink, but Jason continues, “From now on, when you see Kelly and me together, you stay away – understand?”

When Howard mentions that they have an arrangement,

"No – we did have an arrangement"

Jason stresses, “We did have an arrangement – now before I say this for the last time,

"Here's your bill!"

“here’s your bill!   I want you to pay that in full!”

"You're going to forget Jinx is sniffing around?"

“And you’re going to forget that Jinx is sniffing around your wife?” Howard demands.   Jason maintains that he will deal with Jinx himself.

“You wouldn’t know where to start!” Howard laughs.

"You've got a week!"

“You’ve got a week!” Jason shouts as he turns to leave, and Howard threatens to have a word with his wife, to tell her exactly what they agreed.

"Kelly already knows"

“Sorry to disappoint you, but Kelly knows all about it,” says Jason and Howard imagines that she sent him there.   “No – I’m putting a stop to this!   I don’t know what came over me, agreeing to this nonsense in the first place.   You’ve got a week to sort this out!”

"Or what?"

“Or what?” Howard asks.

"Try me – you'll find out!"

“Try me – you’ll find out!” snarls Jason and then he does indeed leave.

"He doesn't fancy me any more"

The music is still playing as Sioned, having been lubricated by a few drinks, tells Mathew, “He doesn’t fancy me any more.”   Mathew contests this, but she goes on, “I can see it in his eyes – there’s pity in them, not love.”

"DJ's worried about you, Sioned"

He explains, “DJ’s worried about you,” but she protests that she does not need a nurse

"Do you still fancy me?"

and enquires if he still fancies her.   “We’re friends, Sioned,” he answers, but she maintains that does not mean he cannot fancy her.

"This is a party, not a funeral"

Then Rhys comes in;  “Are you coming, or what?   This is a party, not a funeral.”   Sioned goes to find the bathroom

"Stop wasting your time on her"

and Mathew is advised to stop wasting his time on her, but rather to come and join in with the others.

Mathew wants to be given a minute,

"They're not shy, I can tell you!"

but Rhys keeps on, “Two gorgeous girls are waiting for us – and they’re not shy, I can tell you!   We’ll get them in the pool now.”

Mathew is worried about Sioned, and is told to send her home in a taxi;

"The action is there, not in here"

“The action is there, not in here – come on, Math,” Rhys urges and he reluctantly does so.

Kelly is waiting for Jason

Kelly is sitting on the sofa in Bryntirion when Jason arrives,

"Sorry I'm late"

apologising for being late and she imagines there must have been a massive queue;  “No, I had a bit of work to do first,” he says.

"What – on a 'date night'?"

She is not impressed with this on a ‘date night’;  “I know you’ve got loads of work with the hotel – but seriously?”   He points out that it was not the hotel, but he had to sort something out.

"I went to see Howard"

“I went to see Howard – I had to tell him once and for all – again – to stay away and forget about this nonsense with Jinx.   I don’t want him to retaliate with anyone – I was wrong to even consider it.

"I just want him to stay away"

“I just want Howard to stay away.”

"But you still want revenge on Jinx, right?"

“But you still want revenge on Jinx, right?” she suggests and Jason at first denies it, but then concedes that perhaps he does and explains that he is just trying to be honest with her.

"I've made you so paranoid"

“I hate the fact that I did this to you – made you so paranoid,” Kelly sighs,

"Neither of us can be honest"

and he explains that he is paranoid because neither of them can be honest.

"I'm sorry, Jase – I'm struggling"

Kelly gets up from the sofa, saying, “I’m sorry – Jase, I’m struggling, OK?

"I just need to clear my head . . ."

“I feel so guilty, I just need to clear my head.”

He stresses that the best way to do that is to talk,

". . . I need space"

but she points out that she needs space;  apologising again, she leaves the house.

"Hello, Mrs Jenkins . . ."

As they sit in the Deri, Ieuan’s phone rings and he says that it might be important;  “Hello, Mrs Jenkins – oh, right –

". . . thanks for telling me"

“don’t worry, I’ll sort it – thanks for telling me.”

He announces to Anita that he has to go, as the lights are on in one of the houses he is selling,

"You don't have to do it now, do you?"

but she argues that he does not have sort it out now.   “Have you seen the price of electricity these days?” he demands as he rapidly leaves.

"Are you sure she didn't say anything else?"

At the bar, DJ is still quizzing Cheryl;  “Are you sure she didn’t say anything else?”

"She said she was going to a party"

Then he asks Hywel if he has seen Sioned and is told that she said she was going to a party with Mathew and Rhys.

"Is he a bit of a control freak?"

DJ hurries out of the pub again, as Cheryl enquires of Hywel what sort of man DJ is;  “A bit of a control freak?”

"More like a doormat"

Hywel describes him as more of a ‘doormat’.

"Large gin, please"

Kelly arrives, looking very flustered, and orders a large gin;  Anita comes across, and thought that she was supposed to be going to Carmarthen.   “Double booking!” Kelly growls and when asked where Jason is,

"Not now, please, Auntie Neet!"

she adds, “Not now, please, Auntie Neet!”

"Three meaty, three veggie"

Jinx comes in, with six pizzas, three meaty and three veggie.   “What have I done to deserve those?” Cheryl demands and is told that she ordered them.

"I can't even finish one"

“I can’t finish one pizza, let alone six – why would I order them?”

"You didn't order them, did you?"

Jinx imagines that she was having a party here, but then realises that she did not order them.

"Someone's pulling your leg, Jinx"

Hywel suggests that someone is pulling his leg,

"Have you made any enemies lately?"

and Cheryl asks whether he has made any enemies recently.

"Possibly, yes"

“Possibly, yes,” he replies and Kelly appears to be rapidly jumping to a conclusion.

Sioned must have been 'hitting the bottle'

Returning to the kitchen after she has located the bathroom,

She gradually . . .

Sioned appears rather the worst for wear

. . . slumps to the floor

and gradually subsides to the floor.

"We must call an ambulance!"

When Mathew and Rhys find her in this condition, Mathew wants to immediately phone for an ambulance;

"We're not supposed to be here, Math"

Rhys, on the other hand, does not want that;  “We’re not supposed to be here!” he shouts.

"I like it when you two argue"

By this time Sioned is coming round and chuckles, “I like it when you two argue!   I’m fine – just a bit tired.”

She is assisted into a chair . . .

Mathew tries to gradually help her to her feet and into a chair.

“You need something to eat and some water,” he recommends,

. . . but Rhys is more interested in getting the girls drunk

but Rhys is in a hurry to get back to the girls and tells Mathew to leave her.   When Matthew insists on staying with Sioned, Rhys simply alleges he has more chance with them and disappears with another bottle.

"Those girls are not my type"

Mathew explains to Sioned that the girls are not his type.

"She'll be all right"

Eileen seems remarkably unconcerned, arguing that Sioned will be all right with the boys, but DJ does not share this opinion.

"Why drag her out?"

“Why drag her out knowing that she’s been ill?” he demands.

"She needs to enjoy herself a bit"

“Because she thinks she’s better and needs to enjoy herself a bit,” her mother suggests.   He says that if Sioned had told him, he would have gone with her.   Eileen goes to check on Huwi-John, assuring him that Sioned will be fine,

DJ is concerned

but DJ is extremely anxious.

Kelly returns home

Jason has just made himself a cup of tea when Kelly comes back to Bryntirion;

"Sorry, Jase"

“Why did you just walk out like that?” he asks and she apologises.

"I was trying to talk to you, that's all"

“I was trying to talk to you, that’s all, to explain how I’m feeling.”

"Don't you think it's a bit immature?"

“I’ve got something to ask you, Jase – don’t you think it’s a bit immature to put in a fake order for six pizzas?”   He has no idea what she is talking about.

"I bumped into Jinx in the Deri"

“I saw Jinx in the Deri – I know what you did – I bumped into him.   It’s a village – let’s face it, it will happen.”

"And he accused me of a practical joke?"

“And what?” Jason replies, “Jinx accused me of playing a practical joke on him?”

"No, I made the accusation"

Kelly replies that she is the one making the accusation.

"Right – good – there we are, then"

“Right – good – there we are, then – nice,” he comments, and loudly clumps his way upstairs.

Sioned seems more herself now

Leading the girls through back to the kitchen, Mathew suggests that they help themselves to whatever drinks are left.   Sioned is feeling much better by this time and then the doorbell rings.

Griffiths appears . . .

He assumes that it is the takeaway,

. . . in an absolutely furious mood

but is alarmed to see that it is Ieuan Griffiths, who loudly shouts, Rhys!   I’m going to kill him!

"You two –out!"

“Stealing the keys from Tomos ac Ellis!   You should be ashamed of yourselves for trespassing here – you two – out!   Your pictures will be on CCTV.”

Jade and Ceri leave pretty smartly

"Come on – chill!"

and Sioned urges Griffiths to ‘chill’.

"Chill?"

“Chill?   How would you like it if a load of yobs had a party at Penrhewl?”

He makes an unexpected discovery

Then his attention turns to searching for Rhys;  as he enters the room containing the pool, he snarls, “There’s no point hiding in here!”

"Rhys?"

then notices the body lying face downwards in the water.

Yes, it is definitely Rhys

The underwater view reveals that it is unmistakably Rhys.
