"Give it a bit of elbow grease" |
Britt is cleaning the windows inside MFC, and Colin, who is outside, notifies her that she has missed a bit; “Come on, give it a bit of elbow grease,” he encourages.
![]() |
"I don't have time for this today!" |
She is rather irate, coming out and snarling at him, “You know what? I don’t have time for this today – right? The solicitor’s hassling me for the Deri’s paperwork – actually you can sort this out today!”
![]() |
"Ooh, the whip is out today!" |
As Mathew appears round the corner, he comments that the whip is out today,
![]() |
Mourners are going to the funeral |
then they turn to see at the other end of the street, several of the villagers on their way to the funeral approaching number 7.

"We're going to say goodbye to Dadi" |
Iolo crouches down and tells Greta, “You know we’re going to say goodbye to Dadi today?”
![]() |
Greta sadly nods her head |
She sadly nods her head as Mark and Dani emerge from the house;
![]() |
"We can do this, Iolo . . ." |
Dani assures Iolo, “We can do this,” adding that her mother is not coming, because she is too ill;
![]() |
". . . give him the best send-off" |
“But you’re here and I’m here – and we’re going to give him the best send-off.”
![]() |
Iolo takes Greta's hand |
Iolo takes Greta’s hand and they continue along the street,

Jinx is watching |

They pass Llinos and her husband |

Alaz' mind is on other things |
At the back of APD, Matthew discovers Alaz engrossed in his phone; “You should have finished this order by now –
![]() |
"Sioned wanted this half an hour ago" |
“Sioned wanted this half an hour ago.” Alaz replies that he is sorry,
![]() |
"I've just seen them going to the funeral" |
and Mathew does not want to give him any hassle today, as he has just seen the mourners heading for the funeral.
“I don’t know how they’re going to cope in the crem, especially Dani – losing a brother and an ex,” he says.
![]() |
"It's hard, but she'll be OK" |
Alaz replies, and we see that his English is rapidly improving, “I know that it’s hard, but she’ll be OK.”
![]() |
"I shouldn't have said that" |
Mathew realises that he should not have said that, after all that Alaz has been through, but he goes on, “She’ll cope – she’ll have to.”

Llanarthur Crematorium |
It is raining heavily at the crematorium and all is prepared for the service,
![]() |
The coffin is in place . . . |
with the coffin on the left, bearing a photograph of Tyler. The door opens and the mourners, led by Dani and Iolo, file in.
![]() |
. . . and Dani breaks down in tears |
At the sight of the coffin, Dani breaks down in tears.
![]() |
"What does the solicitor want now?" |
Britt is at number 21, angrily looking at her phone; she demands, “What does the solicitor want now? More paperwork?” and she slams the phone down.
Colin comes downstairs, carrying an envelope and announces that he has something for her;
![]() |
"A little treat for you, Britt" |
“A little treat after all the stress you’ve been under recently. Open it and you’ll find out what it is.”
![]() |
"We're going to London?" |
“Don’t say we’re going to London?” she exclaims, and she confirms that they are, this afternoon. He has packed her glad rags, and she looks disbelieving.
![]() |
Iolo prepares himself for his task |
At the funeral, with SiƓn leading the service, he announces that Iolo is now going to give the tribute,
![]() |
Dani is anxious |
and Dani looks anxiously across at him. He hesitantly gets to his feet and,
![]() |
"Tyler – where to I start?" |
after looking at the coffin, begins, “Tyler – where do I start? I’ve been thinking and thinking about what to say today, and I thought about the first time I saw him.”
![]() |
Greta watches him |
Greta is looking at him as he continues, “It was seven years ago – he drove up the High Street in a banger of a car with the music blaring.
![]() |
"Who on earth is this bloke?" |
“I remember thinking ‘Who on earth is this bloke?’ I did not know then how much he would change my life – and the lives of all of you here – as a husband,
![]() |
"Father . . ." |
father,
![]() |
". . . brother" |
brother and friend. We’re all going to miss Ty – and nobody more than me.”
![]() |
Someone else walks in . . . |
Then the door opens and someone else walks in; it is Aled,
![]() |
. . . which causes Iolo some concern |
and Iolo looks horrified
![]() |
Aled sits at the back |
as he sits down in the row behind Llinos.
![]() |
"Is it the right time for this, Col?" |
Britt says, “I’m not ungrateful, and two nights in a swish hotel in London sounds beautiful – all I’m asking is whether now is the right time to go gallivanting?”
![]() |
"You really need the break, love" |
Colin stresses that she really needs the break, as she has not stopped for weeks.
![]() |
"But what about MFC?" |
She is aware of that, “But what about MFC? Where will we find cover?”
![]() |
"It's all sorted" |
He stops her there, advising that it is all sorted – as is the Deri.
![]() |
"She wants to send her regards to the King and Queen" |
“Cassie was not angry – she wants us to send her regards to King Charles and Queen Camilla. Don’t you worry about the solicitor – I’ll make sure he gets the papers by next week. So are we off, then?”
![]() |
"I'm not sure, Col" |
Britt is still not sure,
![]() |
"We'll tell Catrin we're not going, then" |
so he sighs, “OK – we’ll tell Catrin we’re not going. She’s coming to stay with us – but if you want to disappoint her, I’ll phone her now.”
![]() |
She tries to wrest the phone from him |
“Hey, don’t you dare!” she yells, grabbing the phone, “Colin Evans, I’m so excited!”
![]() |
"Tyler loved making greta laugh" |
Iolo continues his tribute, “Nothing was more important to Tyler than Greta – he loved making her laugh.”
![]() |
She is obviously missing him |
She looks close to tears, as does Iolo, as he adds, “Greta truly experienced Tyler’s love – so did I.”
![]() |
Iolo looks at Aled |
He looks at Aled;
![]() |
"We were supposed to be together" |
“If you believe in soulmates, Tyler was mine – we were supposed to be together. I remember once . . .”
![]() |
He cannot now continue . . . |
but at this point he cannot stop glancing across at Aled and neither can he go on.
![]() |
. . . and sits down again |
His father thanks him for that moving tribute and they will now move on to the next hymn.
![]() |
Alaz is still using his phone |
Alaz appears to be neglecting his duties and concentrating on his phone; “Haven’t you finished that order yet?” Mathew demands and is told that it just requires two more pots.
![]() |
"This is 'Urban Decay'" |
However, it is noticed that if this is Mary Leyshon’s order, she wanted five pots of ‘Grey Granite’, whereas Alaz has selected ‘Urban Decay’.
![]() |
"Stop faffing about on that phone!" |
“Concentrate and stop faffing about on that phone! Just sort it! We’ve got painters coming in this afternoon.”
![]() |
"You said no hassle today" |
Alaz reminds him that he said there would be no hassle today,
![]() |
"Who have yon been texting?" |
and in turn is asked who he has been texting all morning.
![]() |
"Qurban, my brother" |
snatches the phone, which has the photo of a bearded man, which is explained to be Qurban, Alaz’ brother.
![]() |
"He arrived in London – safe!" |
“He arrived in London three days ago – safe!”
![]() |
"I'm leaving Cwmderi" |
and Mathew asks what he did not say. “I was scared – because I’m leaving Cwmderi to be with him.”
![]() |
Mathew is taken about |
This comes as rather a surprise to Mathew,
![]() |
"I'm not coming back, Matt" |
even more so when he continues, “I’m not coming back, Matt.”
![]() |
Aled is the first to leave . . . |
At Llanarthur Crematorium, Aled is the first to walk out of the door,
![]() |
. . . and is closely followed by Iolo |
he is soon followed by Iolo, who complains, “It was supposed to be a private funeral.” Aled realises that is why there were so few people there,
![]() |
"You have no right to be here!" |
and Iolo insists that he had no right to be there.
“I just wanted to say goodbye,” says Aled, but it is pointed out that they were together for only months.
![]() |
"You're not the only one grieving" |
“You’re not the only one grieving – unless you want to rewrite the past!” snarls Aled, “You made Tyler like a saint – he had an affair!”
![]() |
"You crept into our bed!" |
“It wouldn’t have happened if you hadn’t crept into our bed!” Iolo protests,
![]() |
"Tyler could have walked away – but he didn't! |
and is reminded that Tyler could have walked away, but he did not. “Don’t you dare blacken Tyler’s name – not today!” Iolo shouts,
![]() |
"You destroyed Tyler's life" |
as Dani also comes out.
Aled explains that he is simply telling the truth, but is accused of destroying Tyler’s life;
![]() |
"He came to me because he was bored" |
“No, he did that himself – Tyler came to me because he was bored,” Aled maintains,
![]() |
Fisticuffs look likely to erupt |
and Dani has to restrain Iolo in order to avoid an unseemly brawl.
By now the rest of the mourners are leaving the crematorium, and Iolo shouts,
![]() |
"You've spoiled everything!" |
“You’ve spoiled everything – do you know that? Just go!”
“I’m sure Tyler would be very proud of you,” is Aled’s last word as he walks away.
![]() |
Britt notices . . . |
Outside number 21, the bags are being loaded into the car when Britt again notices
![]() |
. . . that car is back again |
that same car parked opposite MFC. She is very concerned.
Aled is by this time sitting on the bench by the crematorium where he is joined by Dani, who remarks that he had a close call there.
![]() |
"That boy's such an idiot!" |
“That boy’s such an idiot!” he growls.
![]() |
"You knew something like this would happen" |
“You knew something like this would happen if you came,” Dani comments, but he denies this. “Anyway, I didn’t think you and Tyler were on good terms,”
![]() |
"I needed 'closure', Dani" |
but he insists that he needed ‘closure’.
![]() |
"But I loved him, too" |
“Yes, I did hate him at one time – but I loved him, too, if that makes sense. It’s really, really hard to move on, you know – even though I knew it was all wrong – but I didn’t expect Iolo to flip!”
![]() |
"You should have stayed away" |
She considers that it would have been advisable for him to stay away, but Aled cannot understand why he was so upset;
![]() |
"They'd broken up" |
“They’d broken up.”
![]() |
"They were about to get back together" |
Dani enlightens him that they were about to get back together, which comes as great surprise,
![]() |
"How could Iolo ever trust him again?" |
and he wonders how Iolo could ever trust him again. “Because people make mistakes, Al – all right?” says Dani,
![]() |
"When is his funeral?" |
“No-one more than your Dad – when is his funeral?”
![]() |
"It was at the beginning of the week" |
Aled replies that it has already happened, at the beginning of the week,
![]() |
"And you didn't tell me?" |
and she demands why she had not been informed. Aled did not want anyone there, but she argues that the world does not revolve around him.
![]() |
"Do you want a sausage roll?" |
At the wake, SiƓn offers his son a sausage roll, but Iolo does not want one;
![]() |
"That's all everyone will remember!" |
The only thing everyone’s going to remember about that funeral is me trying to hit Aled,” he groans, “I’ve let Tyler and Greta down.” He is reassured that Greta did not see anything, and is reminded that everyone does stupid things sometimes.
“I know Tyler wasn’t an angel and he made a few wrong turns, but there was no need to raise it today.”
![]() |
"At least you'll never have to see that Aled again" — yeah, right! |
SiƓn remarks that at least he will not have to see that Aled ever again and advises him not to be so hard on himself.
![]() |
Iolo resorts to Instagram again |
his father is going to get a pint for him, Iolo looks at his phone, apparently about to reload the Instagram app.
![]() |
"He didn't deserve a pauper's funeral" |
Dani tells Aled, “You can bad-mouth your father, but he didn’t deserve a pauper’s funeral! Even Gwyneth is having a proper one.”
![]() |
"You weren't his biggest fan" |
“Why are you so angry? You weren’t his biggest fan,” he replies.
![]() |
"A dog would get more respect than this!" |
Aled cannot believe that she would have gone to Dylan’s funeral, so she shouts that he was Gabriel’s father.
![]() |
"Gabriel is better off without him!" |
“And Gabriel is better off without him!” Aled answers. She wonders why he is so selfish, and points out that he is just like his father. “I’m nothing like him,” snarls Aled.
Dani thought that she could rely on him; “You knew that coming here was a stupid idea – and you’ve spoiled Tyler’s funeral!
![]() |
"Stay away from me – and Gabriel!" |
“Stay away from me – and stay away from Gabriel!”
![]() |
Dani marches off |
She marches off.
![]() |
"That doesn't mean he's connected to Garry" |
Colin points out to Britt that they do not know who the man is; “The fact that the man is a Geordie doesn’t mean that he’s connected to Garry.” Britt reasons that he must be, and imagine that one of Garry’s enemies sent him there.
![]() |
"Where is the car, anyway?" |
Colin looks along the street
![]() |
"It was parked just there, Colin" |
and cannot see any car, suggesting that Britt is mistaken, but she repeats that there was something odd about him. “There could be a million and one reasons why he’s in the village,” and she wonders if she is being paranoid.
![]() |
"You need a break, Britt" |
He reassures her that is not the case, but does he insist that she needs a break.
![]() |
"We can't go to London now, can we?" |
“But we can’t go to London now, can we? We shall have to stay here, just in case something happens,” she says, but Colin insists that nothing is going to happen and they cannot let Catrin down.
![]() |
"No way – we're going!" |
“No way – no messing – we’re going!” he instructs her.
![]() |

![]() |
There is a notification on Iolo's phone |
At Y Felin, Iolo come downstairs and hears a notification sound on his phone;
![]() |
He has amassed some more 'likes' . . . |
he finds that several people have ‘liked’ his photo of Tyler and Greta, entitled, ‘Ta ta Tyler’,
![]() |
. . . and is in tears |
and he is again in tears.
![]() |
"Sorry – I look a mess" |
Dani apologises to Jinx that she looks a mess, and he reminds her that she has just buried her brother. “Today just made it more real – I know that Tyler and Dylan weren’t perfect, but I loved them – and now they’ve gone,” she sobs,
![]() |
"And Garry's gone" |
“And Garry’s gone.”
![]() |
"He will be back" |
He points out that Garry will come back and she replies, “But not for years. For the first time, I’m alone – I don’t have anyone.”
![]() |
"What am I – Scotch mist?" |
“But you’ve got the children – and what about me? What am I – Scotch mist? You’re going to get through this, OK, and do you know why? Because you’re stronger than you think –
![]() |
"We'll all make sure you get through this" |
“and we’ll all make sure that you get through it.”
![]() |
He hugs her close . . . |

![]() |
. . . just as Kelly happens to be passing |
Kelly is passing the other end of the alley; she stops,
![]() |
She looks at him . . . |

![]() |
. . . and he returns her gaze |
