Kelly is still shouting

Inside their temporary prison, Kelly is still banging on the door and shouting, “Hello!” at the top of her voice.  Jinx tells her once again not to panic, and she yells,

"Jinx, that's a fire hazard!"

“Don’t panic?   Jinx, that’s a fire hazard, in case you hadn’t noticed.”

When he tells her to chill out,

"I can't believe you let this happen!"

she screams, “I can’t believe you let this happen!”   He calmly points out that it was an accident;  “Was it?” she demands.

"You think I did this on purpose?"

“You think I did this on purpose?” he says, incredulously,

"You're so annoying!"

and Kelly describes him as ‘so annoying’,

Then she quietens down . . .

then leans on a filing cabinet with her arms folded.

. . . and they simply stare at each other

They look at each other accusingly.

"We've got an overnight flight"

In the Deri, Cassie puts three gins on the bar and Anita asks Diane what time she has to be at the airport;  “We’ve got an overnight flight,” is the reply, and Cassie wonders if everything is packed.

"Dai hasn't even considered your feelings"

“Dai hasn’t even considered your feelings,” moans Anita,

"He loves it there"

but Diane maintains that he loves it there.

"He lets everything hang out"

“I find that odd, because he doesn’t strike me as the vest and flip-flop type,” Anita goes on.

“You’d be surprised – he lets everything hang out,” Diane groans,

Cassie finds this a disturbing prospect

and Cassie does her best not to imagine that.   Anita is very glad that they do not get that sort of weather in Cwmderi.

It is quite clear that Diane does not want to go back, but she admits, “Dai is probably right – I haven’t given the place enough of a chance.”

"I might get used to it"

She is reminded that she hates the heat, and sighs, “Who knows?   I might get used to it – and I do miss Emma and Hannah.”

Anita stresses that they will miss her in Cwmderi after being without her for such a long time,

A taste of home for Diane

and Cassie takes out a present from under the bar – a box of proper Welsh tea, so she can have a decent cup.   They drink their gin.

Jason has come to borrow some milk

Jason goes to see Ffion and thanks her for the advice;  “At least I managed to get the right thing before the chemist closed.”

Ffion is not looking happy

She gives him a one pint bottle of semi-skimmed milk, and, noticing her dejected look, he asks what has happened;

"Is he back on the pop?"

“Aren’t things any better now Cai’s not drinking?   Is he back on the pop?”

"He's really getting on my nerves"

Ffion informs him that Cai is not, “But, between you and me, he’s really getting on my nerves these days.   Well, I hardly see him – he wakes up early every morning to do this wild swimming and some never-ending training.   Then he’s in bed by nine o’clock every night with a self-help book – he takes no notice of me!

"I don't know if I want it"

“And then when he does – I don’t know if I want it.”

"He might as well be back on the pop, then"

Jason thinks, in that case, he might just as well be back on the pop, but if it is any consolation, he does not see much of Kelly either;  “She’s volunteering with the Sunday School club now, with Jinx, so I know how you feel.”

"Are you happy about that?"

Ffion wonders if he is happy with that situation,

"Kelly's independence has aways been important to her"

and he replies, “I happen to know that Kelly’s independence has always been something that’s very important to her, so I respect that.”

"Tell Cai how you feel"

He had better go now and recommends Ffion to talk to Cai and tell him how she feels;

"The most important thing is honesty"

“Kelly and I always say that most important thing in a relationship is honesty.

Ffion takes his advice to heart

 Thanks for the milk.”

"I'm starving!"

Jinx sits at the table while Kelly is pacing up and down;  “I’m starving,” she complains, then suddenly thinks of something

Then she finds a chocolate bar

and takes from her coat pocket a chocolate bar which she will share with him.

"Kelly, I love you . . ."

“Kelly, I love you!” he exclaims,

". . . as in I love the fact you've got food"

then quickly adds, “As in, you know, I love the fact you’ve got food.”

Ieuan is bored to tears

Dai is showing on the iPad his photographs of Australia to Ieuan Griffiths, who appears to be very uninterested;  “Another barbecue?” he groans,

"I'm cooking kangaroo – there are plenty of them"

but Dai points out that if he looks closely, he will see that Dai is cooking kangaroo – just as good as beefsteaks but much cheaper, because there are plenty of kangaroos in Australia.

"And plenty of barbecues, too"

“And plenty of barbecues, too, by the looks of things,” Ieuan grumbles.

As Dai is explaining that is because of the weather, and those photos were taken during the winter, Anita and Diane return to the house.   “The weather is so nice out there, isn’t it, Diane?” he goes on.

"Two hours' worth!"

“Dai couldn’t wait until tomorrow to see his beloved Sydney,” Ieuan tells Anita, “He’s shown me every photo he took out there – two hours’ worth!”

"I'll spool back up to the top now"

Dai asks if Anita would like to look at them as well – he will spool back up to the top now.

"There's no better place in the whole world"

“I can’t wait to go back there – there is nowhere better in the whole world, is there Diane?” he demands,

"There I am in my flip-flops"

“Right, there I am in my flip-flops.”

Ffion has called Cai to come over

Cai comes into Cysgod y Glyn and Ffion thanks him for coming over;  “I just thought we should talk,” she begins, but he says that he does not have much time and the bike is outside.

He is worried about his bike

With all the thefts, he does not want to leave it out there too long.

"Things are not right"

“I’ll get straight to the point, then – things are not all right.”   As he screws the top back on his water bottle, he asks what is the problem.

"This relationship isn't working for me"

“This relationship isn’t working for me any more as it is, Cai.   Something has to change.”

He was not expecting that

He cannot believe what he is hearing.

"You haven't got another one, have you?"

Having consumed the chocolate bar, Jinx wonders if she has another one;

"I can't believe he didn't give you a big box of chocolates"

Kelly says that Jason will be worrying about her.   “Well. I still can’t believe that he didn’t buy you a big box of chocolates on St Dwynwens Day!” Jinx comments.

"He bought me chicken thighs – and Jason is Jason"

“He bought me chicken thighs – and Jason is Jason,” she answers, “Anyway, the honeymoon period doesn’t last for ever, so . . .”

"Do you love Jason?"

Jinx asks if she loves Jason;

"What kind of question is that?"

Excuse me – what kind of question is that?   Yes, I do love Jason.”

"Then why did you say no to him"

He then asks why she said no when Jason wanted to marry her;

"Oh my God!"

“Oh my God!” she exclaims, “Dai and Diane had just arrived back – I’d just found out he was sending money to Sara, so . . .   What?   Jason and I are fine – we’re sorted – we always sort things out, OK?   Once Dai and Diane have gone back to Australia – whoopee doo! —

"Things will go back to the usual routine"

“things will go back to the usual routine, happy days.”

"I hate routines"

Jinx says that he hates routines, insisting that you need to take risks in life.

"You're a massive, big ball of energy, Jinx"

Kelly is fed up with taking risks, but that is what she admires about Jinx;  “You’re just a massive, big ball of energy, Jinx – and it’s lush, OK?   I don’t know –

"In a parallel universe somewhere . . ."

“in a parallel universe somewhere, I think you and I would have . . . we could have been happy.”

"You just refuse to take responsibility"

He accuses her of just refusing to take responsibility;  “You ruined everything by going off to Salford without a word, and I came looking for you.”

"I was raped, Jinx!"

“Oh, wow – are we really going there?   I was raped, Jinx!   It wasn’t as if I went off on holidays,” she answers.

"How did you think I felt?"

He asks how she thinks he felt, hearing that she had a new boyfriend so soon;  “You didn’t have the guts . . .”

"It was just too painful, OK?"

Kelly screams, “Actually, Jinx, we both moved on – it wasn’t as if I didn’t love you – it was just too painful, OK?   And if you want to talk about leaving, what about you?   What about you asking me to marry you?

"You propose – and the next day you've gone!"

“You propose – and the next day you’ve gone!”

He argues that he did not know what he wanted at the time;

"I love you, Kelly"

“Kelly, I love you – and I want to be with you – and I know you want to be with me, too.”

"I'm not the same person I was"

As they gaze into each others’ eyes, Kelly points out that she is not the same person she was;  “I’m not – please let me explain, because you deserve that.

"You were my first love"

“You and me – you were my first love, and I loved you, but after the rape, I just had to put up a wall and I’m sorry.   I’m sorry if I hurt you, but I was frightened – Jinx, please let me finish – I’m still frightened,

"I didn't feel safe . . ."

“and do you know what frightens me the most?   Not feeling safe –

". . . and Jason makes me feel safe"

“and Jason makes me feel safe, so please don’t wreck it,

"I'm begging you"

“I’m begging you.”

"I gave up drinking for you"

Cai explains to Ffion, “I gave up drinking for you,”

"That's not the right reason for doing it"

but she regards that as the wrong reason to do so.

"I thought you would be pleased"

“I thought you would be pleased,” he adds,

"You've completely changed your personality"

but she answers that it is as if he has completely changed his personality.

“Do you know how stupid I felt when Rhys accused me of stopping you seeing your friends – that’s what people think,” she tells him, “Why have you stopped socialising with them?”

"To be a social drinker who can control himself"

He does not know the answer to that, and she demands what he does want;  “To be busy, to be back on the bike, back in the sea, to be a social drinker who can control himself like everyone else,” he replies.

"There's no room for me these days"

“Well, it’s obvious to me that there is no room for me in your head these days,” Ffion says, and he looks shocked.

"I've got too much to lose, Jinx"

In the locked room, Kelly continues, “I’ve got too much to lose.”   Jinx emphasises that so does he, but is willing to accept it if it means they are together;

"I can make you feel safe"

he argues that he can make her feel safe, and knows that she feels the same way.

"Is anyone there?"

Her response is to bang on the door once more;  “Can anyone hear me?   Hello!”   He reminds her that there is no-one there and urges her to stop.

"The past is sin the past and I'm not going back there"

She furiously tells him, “The past is in the past and I’m not going back there – OK?    I can’t!”

They look not each other's eyes

However, as they again look into each others eyes,

That has been coming for months

she kisses him, passionately.

"Just tell me what you want me to do"

Cai demands, “Just tell me what you want me to do.”

"I don't want to control you"

Ffion points out that is the problem;  she does not want to control him.

"You want to finish, then?"

He therefore concludes, “You want to finish, then?” but she does not want that either.

"What's the point of being in a relationship like this?"

“We don’t spend any time together, do we?   What’s the point of being in a relationship like that?”

"I think have mental health problems

Cai maintains that she does not understand;  “I think I have mental health problems – anxiety –

"I've been drinking to try and cope with it"

“I’ve been drinking to try and cope with it.   I didn’t tell you, perhaps through shame.   I thought it was hangovers, but it’s worse than that – it’s been a difficult time, the marriage breaking up, being so far away from the children.”

"You must miss them terribly"

Ffion appreciates that he must miss them terribly, and he continues, “You’ve made me see things as they are – I realise that I’ve been trying to numb the pain with alcohol, but I’m starting to see things clearly now.”

Ffion appears to be in two minds whether she believes this or not,

"I think I'm falling ion love with you, Ffion!"

and then he announces, “I think I’m falling in love with you, Ffion!”

Not what she wanted to hear

which comes as a complete shock.

In the store cupboard, things appear to be escalating;

Jinx unbuttons her blouse, while . . .

Jinx is unbuttoning Kelly’s blouse

. . . is she fumbling with his zip?

while she appears to be fumbling with the zip of his trousers.

Megan is looking for Jinx

Meanwhile, on the other side of the door, Megan has come in, looking for Jinx, and hears a sound in the cupboard,

Things are getting out of hand in there

that of all the items on the table being swept aside on to the floor.

Megan unlocks the door . . .

Megan activates the push button lock, muttering, “Jinx, you’ve managed to lock yourself in.”

As she opens the door,

. . . and catches them, 'at it'! . . .

she is greeted by the sight of the pair of them, ‘in flagranté’, on the table.

. . . which comes as a great shock

She closes the door again and looks extremely shocked.

"You just don't want to be on your own"

Ffion tells Cai not to sulk;  “Listen, you don’t love me, Cai – you just don’t want to be on your own.”

"I know how I feel, Ffion . . ."

He disagrees with this and insists that he knows how he feels;

". . . how do you feel?"

he wants to know how Ffion feels.

"I'm sorry – I don't love you"

She makes it clear that she does not love him;  “I’m sorry, but I don’t – I like you a lot, but I don’t love you.”

Cai seems to be having trouble

Cai suddenly started breathing heavily and it seems to have trouble standing up;

He collapses on the sofa

he collapses in pain on the sofa, and Ffion demands what is wrong.

"Cai, are you all right?"

He appears to be in a bad way.

Kelly has a message from Jason . . .

Kelly has escaped to the Deri, and as she comes in, she receives a message from Jason.   “I was just phoning to say that Ifan is feeling better now – he’s had some cwtches with Dadi and now he’s sound asleep.”

. . . who is locking forward to a big cwtch

She finds a secluded corner and sits down on the sofa as he continues, “I’m looking forward to having some big cwtches with Mami Kelly as well, so I’ll see you soon, OK?   Love you.”

She checks in her mirror . . .

Kelly gets out her make-up mirror to check that she is not too dishevelled

. . . then hurries to the 'ladies'

and then heads towards the ‘ladies’.

"Well, say something, then, Megan"

Meanwhile in Yr Antur, Jinx is putting on his jacket and Megan appears very upset by what she has seen;  he urges her to say something.

"What do you want me to say?"

“What do you want me to say?   That I forgive you?” she answers, “I think I’m still in shock – it’s going to take some time for me to process what I’ve just witnessed.”

He says that he can explain,

"I trusted you, Jinx"

and Megan sighs, “I trusted you, Jinx – but I can’t trust you now – engaging in sexual intercourse, and here, in Yr Antur, on public land.”

"I have feelings for Kelly"

He gives the excuse that he has feelings for Kelly,

"She's in a relationship with someone else!"

but Megan snarls, “Shame on you – she’s in a relationship with someone else!   Get out of my sight before I say something I regret!”   He readily complies with that instruction.

"Dai Sgaffalde in a Mankini!"

As Anita and Ieuan look with little or no interest, Dai is now showing his photos on the television, and comments, “Not everyone has seen Dai Sgaffalde in a Mankini!”

"Jase – Jason!"

Kelly rushes into the house, calling to Jason, and he wonders where she has been;

"I've done something awful!"

“I’ve done something awful!” she wails, “I was angry – I want you to know I’ve never felt so safe – I’ve never felt so secure.   Will you marry me, please?”

They wait with bated breath

Their listeners are eager to hear the response,

"Will you marry me, please?"

as she repeats the question,

"Of course I'll marry you!"

and Jason, with a broad smile, tells her, “Of course I’ll marry you!”

They kiss

As they kiss, Anita and Ieuan hug each other;  “Go out and buy some champagne!” says Anita.

"Youb can cancel those flights, Dai"

Diane is similarly excited and instructs Dai, “You can cancel those flights – I’ve got a wedding to organise!”

He seems to be the only one not celebrating

Dai appears rather deflated by this news,

Kelly looks very guilty

as Kelly and Jason whisper that they love each other.
