Kelly comes round the corner

Kelly comes out of the alley and is walking past the shop when she bumps into Jinx and she feels very awkward;

"Did he get down on one knee?"

“Congratulations, once again,” he says, “Was it a surprise?   Did he get down on one knee?”

"I asked him"

“I asked him,” she replies, and he cannot believe she did that,

"What – after we . . ?"

after they had . . .

"Yep!"

She sharply informs him, “Yep!” and he is at a loss to know what to say, but suggests that he can buy her a coffee so they can have a chat.

"No thanks"

“No thanks,” she tells him and walks away.

Jinx is perplexed

He stands in the shop doorway, looking lost.

Ffion comes to collect Cai

Cai is in the hospital corridor in his cycling gear, waiting for Ffion arrive;  “Sorry I’m late – the meeting dragged on,” she apologises, and he says that he could have called a taxi.   “It’s no bother – how are you feeling?” she asks.

"They've told me what to do next time"

He says they have told him what to do next time he has a panic attack.

"At least you admit you've got a problem"

Ffion is glad that he admits he has a problem, as that is half the battle.

Tyler notices Iolo passing

Tyler is cleaning the tables at MFC when he notices Iolo walking past and calls to him;

"How's Greta?"

“Hey, Iol!   Are you all right?   I haven’t seen you for ages – how’s Greta?”

"Being spoiled as usual"

Iolo replies that she is being spoiled as usual, and Tyler says that he misses her;

"Listen, about what happened . . ."

“Listen, about what happened . . .” he begins,

"Not here, Tyler"

but Iolo does not want to talk about it there.   “Can I come over after my shift to explain and talk things over?” Tyler asks, “Please, Iol – you can’t run away from this for ever.”

"I'll come over to you"

“OK, but I’ll come over to you – just text me after you finish your shift,” says Iolo, and Tyler looks quite pleased.

Kelly visits Megan's shop

Kelly visits Megan’s shop and asks if Megan has a second;  “I love Jason and the last thing I want to do is to hurt him and Ifan.

"It was over before it started"

“What happened between Jinx and me was over before it started.”

"But if I hadn't walked in . . ."

Megan points out that if she had not walked in, it might not be over, but is stopped by Kelly.

"The best thing we can do is forget about it"

“It’s over – so I think the best thing we can do – you, me and everyone else – is to just forget about it, please.”

Megan insists that she does not want to get dragged into anyone else’s business,

"People who cheat break my heart"

but adds, “People who cheat break my heart.”

"I don't think we need a post-mortem, Megan"

Kelly snaps, “I don’t think we need a post-mortem, Megan – so, are we good?”

"I won't say a word to Jason"

Megan agrees that she will not to say a word to Jason;  “Good,” Kelly replies and leaves the shop.

"A holiday for the three of us?"

Gwyneth makes a suggestion;  “So it would be a holiday for the three of us?” asks Cassie,

"A bit of sun would do Tesni a world of good"

and Gwyneth points out that she is always saying she wants to go on holiday;  a bit of sun would do Tesni a world of good, and get her mind off her mother’s murder.

"Yes, you're right there"

Cassie agrees that she has a point and it would be nice to see some sun;  at that moment Tesni comes downstairs and the idea of a holiday is mentioned to her,

"I can't go"

but she immediately answers that she cannot go.   Cassie maintains that there are some good deals for Tenerife;

"Get to know the characters in my novels"

“It would be a good opportunity to get to know some of the characters in my novels.”

Then she finds the ideal holiday and shows the laptop to Gwyneth,

"What – next to five nightclubs?"

who notices that the hotel is next to five nightclubs.

Tesni looks at her phone . . .

Tesni, who has been looking at her phone,

. . . and then says she is going out

announces that she is going out, and half-heartedly says that she is happy with anything.

"Thanks for that, Kelly"

Kelly hurries into APD with Jason’s lunch;  Jinx, who happens to be there,

"She'll make someone a good wife"

remarks, “Ah, fair play to her – she’ll make someone a good wife!”   He is there to discuss plans with Jason to expand the pizza business next door, so that it is not just a pizza place, but a café as well.

"I'll get the brochures from the van"

Jason will get the brochures from the van.

"What are you doing, Jinx?"

“What are you doing?” Kelly demands, and Jinx says that he is simply discussing ideas with Jason.   “This isn’t funny, Jinx,” she goes on, “You’re being ridiculous!”

"I'm here to discuss business"

Jinx makes it clear that he is there to discuss business.

"Business?   OK, whatever!"

“Business?  OK, whatever!” she snarls and appears to be on the brink of tears.

"Thanks for the lift, Ffion"

Ffion has brought Cai back to Y Felin and he thanks her for the lift;

"I could organise for a supply teacher"

“If you want, I could organise for a supply teacher to cover for you next week,” Ffion offers,

"No – I shall be fine"

but he says that will not be necessary.

As she is about to leave the house, Cai wants to know where he stands,

"You focus on getting better"

but she advises him to focus on getting better.

"Why can't we carry on as we were before?"

“Why can’t we carry on as we were, before I said I love you?” he asks, “We’re not in the same place, but . . .”

"This was a just a bit of fun, Cai"

She informs him that this was just a bit of fun, so he realises that she is finishing with him.   “It wouldn’t be fair on you if we carried on,” she tells him,

"See you at school next week"

“Right, I’ll see you at school next week.”

Not what he wanted to hear

He is very deflated on hearing this news.

"Has Rhys gone?"

Mathew is eating his lunch when Tesni comes in, enquiring whether Rhys has gone;  “Yes, first thing this morning,” is the reply, “He left that for me,” as Mathew points at a bottle.

"On to bigger and better things in Cardiff"

It is accompanied by a note which Tesni reads;  “To celebrate that I won’t let you down any more.   On to bigger and better things in Cardiff – Rhys.   He’s funny, isn’t he?”

That is not exactly the way Mathew would describe him, and Tesni asks if he is going to be out all afternoon;

"That should be fine"

“Is it OK for me to use the flat to make some calls?” she asks.

"DI Fielding"

He wonders who she will she will be phoning, and the answer is, “DI Fielding – and if I don’t get the answers I want, the press.”

"About your Mam"

He realises this is about her mother,

"Whoever killed Mam is still out there"

and she continues, “I haven’t heard from them for weeks and whoever killed Mam is still out there –

"But not for long, if I have my way!"

but not for long, if I have my way!”

"You could triple the capacity"

Jinx and Jason are discussing the possibilities;  “It depends what you want to do – you could triple the capacity.”

"It's not exactly busy as it is"

Kelly, who is still hovering nearby, comments, “It’s not exactly busy as it is,”

"If we build a good name for being fast . . ."

and Jinx stresses that if they build a good name for being fast, they will get more business.

Jason asks how many tables he is envisaging;  “That depends whether we knock through to the back room,” Jinx,

"I'm not going to listen to this!"

and Kelly tells them that is enough.   She is not going to waste her time listening to them talking about pizzas, expanding the business, tables – I don’t care!

"We've got a wedding to organise – remember?"

“We’ve got a wedding to organise – remember?” and she angrily storms out.

"We couldn't discuss it out in the street"

Iolo arrives at number 7, and says that they could not discuss their personal lives out in the street.   Once again Tyler says how sorry he is,

"Do you think you can forgive me, Iol?"

and pleads, “Now that time has passed, do you think you can forgive me?”

"You stole from your neighbours"

Iolo points out that he stole from his neighbours,

"Eifion tried to kill me!"

but Tyler tries to justify that by emphasising that Eifion tried to kill him.   “That doesn’t change what you did!” says Iolo.

"I haven't seen Greta for weeks!"

“I haven’t seen Greta for weeks – I can’t sleep – I still relive the attack!” Tyler wails,

"It wouldn't have happened of you had not framed Eifion"

but he is reminded that none of this would have happened if he had not framed Eifion.

"But I'm her father"

“I know, and I’m sorry – but I still think I should see Greta – I’m her father,” Tyler goes on.

Iolo demands whether he is still doing the stealing;

"I'll never let you see her again – understand?"

“If you’re doing anything illegal, I’ll never let you see her again – do you understand?”

Tyler insists that he only did it to get Eifion into trouble, and promises that he will not do it any more.

So Tomos ac Ellis does have another employee

Now that Rhys is no longer at Tomos ac Ellis, another employee is showing prospective buyers around number 10.

"I wonder whether they speak Welsh"

Mathew and Anita are watching, and he wonders whether they speak Welsh.

"How do you tell?"

“I don’t know – how do you tell?” she asks, “A Red Dragon on their forehead or something?”

Mathew cannot believe that Rhys did this to her,

"No wonder he's run away to Cardiff . . ."

and she growls, “No wonder he’s run away to Cardiff – but he’ll have an extra £20,000 in his pocket to run away to wherever he wants.   If that house turns into a holiday home,

". . . Meic will be turning in his grave"

Meic will be turning in his grave.

"There is a visitor to Cysgod y Glyn

The buzzer at Cysgod y Glyn sounds and Jinx hears an angry voice shouting, “Open the door!”

"What's the magic word, then?"

He asks what is the magic word, but she rages, “I don’t have time for this, you clown!   This is Val, so open the door this minute!”

"You look a lot better Val" — that is a matter of opinion

As she comes up the stairs, he remarks that she looks a lot better;  “Not that you looked bad before,” he adds.

"Where's that Cai?"

She demands where he is;  “That Cai – nobody answered the door at Y Felin, and Ffion won’t answer her phone!

"He doesn't care about his kids!"

“Of course he knew I was coming – Twm and Lleucu are in the car – he doesn’t care about his kids!”

"He's just come home from hospital"

Jinx has some bad news for her;  “Cai has just come home from hospital.”

"Nothing trivial, I hope!"

“What’s wrong with him?   Nothing trivial, I hope!” is her sympathetic reply.

"Give me another chance with Greta"

At number 7, Tyler is still pleading with Iolo, “Give me another chance with Greta.”   Iolo is anxious that she should not to get hurt.

"She'll think don't love her"

“She won’t – I need to see my little girl – she must think I don’t love her.”

Iolo explains that is not true,

"I told her you had to go away for a while"

“Because I told her that her father had to go away for a while – it’s better than telling the truth.

"This is your last chance, Ty"

“Look, perhaps I can tell her that her father is coming home soon – but this is your last chance, Ty – if you do anything,

"She'll find out exactly what sort of man her father is!"

“she’ll find out exactly what sort of man her father is!”

"I won't do anything – I promise"

Tyler promises that he will not to do anything out of line and thanks Iolo.

"Are we going to book this?"

“Are we going to book this?” Cassie demands;  Gwyneth tells her to pay and she will transfer the money.

"I'm not coming with you"

Tesni comes in and informs them that she is not coming with them;  she gives the excuse she has maxed out her credit card and does not want to get into more debt.

"A few days on my own will do me good"

She will not listen to their entreaties, but believes that a few days on her own will do her good.

"I want to see some sun – and men in Speedos"

Cassie insists that the holiday will go ahead;  “I want to see some sun – and men in Speedos,” she says,

and Tesni assures them she will be fine on her own.

"I shall want the gory details afterwards"

She does not want to spoil their plans, but will still want the gory details afterwards.

"They will be in the next novel"

Cassie predicts that they will be in the next novel.

"Haven't the children grown?"

As they sit, waiting for Ffion to return, Jinx attempts to make small talk, remarking how the children have grown;

"That's what children do!"

“Of course they have – that’s what children do!” Val snarls.   Then he asks how Nesta is,

"She's always angry" — takes after her mother

and is told, “She’s always angry,” which he appreciates must be difficult for Val.

At last they hear Ffion coming up the stairs;

"Couldn't you have phoned?"

she is not happy to see her mother, who immediately demands, “Couldn’t you have phoned to say the children’s father was ill?”

"What are you doing here?"

Ffion wants to know what she is doing there and is informed that she has brought the children to see their father.   Ffion was under the impression they were coming at the weekend.

"They might as well come early"

“They’re off school, sick, so they might as well come early,” Val tells her, “And they’re playing with Arwen.”

“Typical – you only worry about yourself,” Val continues moaning,

"Take them to Y Felin – Cai's there"

and Ffion suggests that she should take the children to Y Felin, as Cai is there.

"Your waster of a cousin!"

“With pleasure – anything to avoid conversation with your waster of a cousin,” is Val’s acerbic reply, as she walks out.

Jinx takes offence at this description

Jinx does not take kindly to this description, and Ffion complains, “She’s the last thing I need this week –

"That's what she's like, Jinx"

“but that’s what she’s like, Jinx.”

"Waster of a cousin?"

He repeats, disgusted, “Waster of a cousin?”

"They've offered just under the asking price"

In the Deri, Griffiths informs Anita that the potential buyers have offered just under the asking price.

"How could Rhys do this to me?"

“Have they said they want it as a holiday home?” she asks, and when he confirms this, she goes on, “How could Rhys do this to me?”

"He hasn't broken any rules"

Ieuan says that there is a chance that Rhys might reject it because they have not offered the full price.

“I’m not saying that what he did was right, but he hasn’t broken any rules.”

"I wanted it to be for someone local"

Anita groans that all she wanted was for her and Meic’s house to be a home for someone local.

“Perhaps you should have made it a condition of the sale,” Ieuan suggests, “That whoever bought it couldn’t sell it to an outsider.”

"Are you saying it's my fault?"

She thinks that now he is saying it is her fault, and does not consider that it is too late.   She proposes that Tomos ac Ellis could take it off the market,

"He'd just take it to another agent"

but is reminded that Rhys would just take it to another agent.

Anita is adamant that Ieuan should ‘do the right thing’.   He informs her that it is not just her that Rhys Llywelyn has betrayed.   “He’s left me in a real hole, moving to Cardiff without warning.   Do you know anyone who can replace him?”

"This is not all about you, Ieuan!"

She reprimands Ieuan for making it all about him,

"How about cocoa in bed?"

and he proposes, “Do you want me to take you home?   I’ll make us cocoa in bed.”

"I'm much too upset for cocoa!"

She replies that she is much too upset to want cocoa,

He thinks he might as well give up

so he decides to give up trying.

Kelly sits on the sofa

Kelly is sitting on the sofa, wrapped in a blanket,

Jason thinks she was rather hard on Jinx

when Jason returns home;  “You were a bit hard on Jinx,” he remarks, but she says she does not want the extra hassle.

"You enjoyed running the café, didn't you?"

“I don’t understand, Kelly – you enjoyed running the café, didn't you?   And you won’t be on your own.”

"We've got a wedding to organise, mind"

“We’ve got a wedding to organise, mind,” she snaps,

"Auntie Neet and Mam will be organising that"

but Jason thinks it is safe to say that Auntie Neet and Mam will be organising the wedding.

"I don't have a choice either way"

“Oh aye – I don’t have any choice either way,” Kelly sighs.

"He will have moved on in a few years"

“You know what Jinx is like anyway – he will have packed up and moved on again in a few years,” Jason maintains,

Kelly is sceptical about that

“Definitely – that boy doesn’t stick around.

"Let him build the business, move on . . ."

Let him build the business, get bored, move on –

". . . and we might inherit half the business"

“and then we’re in a very strong position to inherit half the business.”

Kelly says nothing

Kelly does not appear to share his optimism.
