"Are you ready for the big move?"

Tesni is packing for her journey to London when Cassie comes home, having forgotten her phone;  “Are you ready for the big move?” she asks, but Tesni does not think she can fit everything into her case.

"You can borrow mine"

“You can borrow mine – it’s in the attic and it’s huge,” says Cassie, “It’s carried my things for years – and it will be an excuse to come up and see you, when I pick it up.”

"You don't need an excuse, Cassie"

She is assured that she does not need an excuse, and Cassie goes on, “I’m glad you’re going – and you’ll love it!   There are lots of dishy men there –

"Don't stick with Rhys Llywelyn"

“don’t stick with Rhys Llywelyn.”

"We're going as 'friends'"

Tesni stresses that they are going as ‘friends’, and is reminded that there is always a bed for her here;

"Call in for a drink"

“Call in for a drink after you finish packing.”

Ffion is waiting anxiously

At the hospital, Jinx arrives to see Ffion standing helplessly in a corridor;  she is overjoyed to see him,

"I didn't know who else to phone"

and explains, “Sorry – I didn’t know who else to phone.   They’re doing tests on Cai for a cardiac arrest now.”

"Is he going to be OK?"

Jinx is concerned that he is going to be OK.   “I don’t know – I’m waiting to hear from the doctor,” says Ffion.

"It was my fault"

“This is my fault – he said he loves me and I didn’t say it back,” she goes on.

"You weren't to know, Ffion"

Jinx assures her that she was not to know,

"But I still feel guilty"

but Ffion still feels guilty.

Dai looks less than excited

There is a lot of excitement at Bryntirion, where Anita calls the happy couple to have some champagne.   The only one not looking excited is Dai, who sits stony-faced at the table.   Ieuan proposes a toast, “Happy engagement,”

They are asked if they have set a date

and as Kelly and Jason look at each other, Anita wants to know if they have decided on a date for the wedding.

"I'll phone the Glyndwr tomorrow morning"

“I’ll phone the Glyndwr tomorrow morning to see what’s available,” says Diane, so Jason comments that it looks as if they are getting married in the Glyndwr, and asks Kelly if that is all right with her.

"I don't care, as long as I marry you!"

“I don’t care where we get married, as long as I marry you!” she answers.   Ieuan wonders why they decided today, suggesting that it is because of St Valentine’s.

Dai is not at all happy

Dai does not look a lot happier

"I was locked in Yr Antur with Jinx"

as Kelly explains, “Long story, actually – I was locked in Yr Antur with Jinx tonight.   I was helping out with the Sunday School club and we got locked in.”

"And what happened?"

Diane is anxious to hear what happened then and Kelly continues, “We got locked in and we were stuck –

"I couldn't stop thinking about Jason and Ifan"

and I couldn’t stop thinking about Jason and Ifan – and . . . that’s it.”

"To being locked in Yr Antur with Jinx!"

Ieuan then decides to propose a toast, “To being locked in Yr Antur with Jinx!”

At least, Dai does raise his glass . . .

and Kelly smiles.

. . . but does Anita appear suspicious?

Anita is showing possible signs of doubt.

"Well, it's a bad day for Cai"

Jinx brings a couple of coffees and gives one to Ffion;  “Well, it’s a bad day for Cai – you refusing to say you love him and a heart-attack!”

"I should have said I loved him . . ."

She tells him not to joke about it, and maintains that she should have said she loved him, even though she did not mean it,

". . . but I couldn't"

but she could not bring herself to do so.

"You can't fool the heart"

“You can’t fool the heart,” Jinx remarks, and she confesses that there is no spark between Cai and her –

"Physically, perhaps, but not . . ."

“physically, perhaps, but not . . .”   Jinx is not keen to hear any more.

“You don’t want to hear about my problematic love life,” she groans,

"I kissed Kelly tonight"

and he suddenly admits that he kissed Kelly tonight.

"Where?"

“Where?” Ffion demands, and he replies that it was on the lips.

“It was in Yr Antur – there was definitely a spark,” he says, and Ffion wonders if it means something.

"Well, I want it to mean something"

“Well, I want it to mean something!” he insists, “Do you think I’m in the wrong?”

Ffion is at that moment looking at her phone,

"I don't want to see you – or anyone – get hurt"

and comments that she would be a hypocrite if she thought that, but she just does not want to see Jinx – or anyone else – getting hurt.

“No, neither do I – but sometimes two people are just meant to be together!” he stresses.

Then she sees something surprising

Ffion gasps as she notices something on her phone and announces that Kelly and Jason are engaged,

"Kelly and Jason are engaged!"

showing him the evidence.

"Ffion Llywelyn?"

Then her name is called and she hurries off to see Cai,

Jinx is perplexed

leaving Jinx holding two coffees and looking perplexed.

"DJ wants you to ring him"

Mathew visits Deri Fawr and tells Sioned, “He’s texted, asking me to tell you to phone him.   Do you know where he is?”

"My phone's not turned on"

Sioned does not, and reveals that her phone is turned off;  she does not want to talk to him.

Mathew reads out the note

She hands the note to Mathew, and he reads, “I can’t see you like this – I’m going to sort things.   Sorry.”   He asks what there is to be sorted.

"He's not sorting anything – he's left me"

“He’s not sorting anything – he’s left me,” Sioned whimpers,

"DJ would not do that, Sioned"

but Mathew is sure that DJ would not leave her.

“Do I have to remind you what happened on our wedding day?” she demands.

"You can't think that"

“It’s tough, but you can’t think that every time something small goes wrong,” he points out.   She exclaims that it is not something small – he has left her.

"He's had enough of me – and I don't blame him!"

Mathew adds that it is to sort things, but Sioned wails, “He’s had enough of me, and I don’t blame him either!   Who would want to be with someone who can’t keep their baby safe?   I don’t want to talk to him because I’m afraid he’s gone back to Non!”

Tesni has the large case . . .

Tesni has brought down the larger case from the attic, but when she opens it,

. . . and finds a familiar scarf inside

she finds inside a pink scarf which she recognises.

Gwyneth is shocked

Gwyneth comes into the house and is taken by surprise to see that scarf,

"It's Mam's scarf!"

which Tesni describes as, “Mam’s scarf!”

Ffion returns

Jinx is waiting for news and when Ffion returns,

"He didn't have a heart attack"

she advises, “He’s going to be fine – he didn’t have a heart attack.   They’re going to keep him in overnight, just in case.”

"Do they know what it was?"

Jinx asks if they know what it was, and she puts it down to anxiety, probably,

"How about you?  Are you OK?"

then asks if he is OK.   “No, not really – it doesn’t make any sense.

"Why get engaged to Jason after kissing me

“Why get engaged to Jason after kissing me?”   Ffion says that everyone makes mistakes;  “Are you saying that I was a mistake?” he asks, “That’s what I was to you and Izzy – why not Kelly?”

"You weren't a mistake to me"

He gets up and walks away, as Ffion assures him, “You weren’t a mistake to me.”

Tesni apologises to Gwyneth, but thought that it was Cassie’s suitcase;

Gwyneth brings a cup of tea

Gwyneth brings her a cup of tea,

"Mam had one exactly like this"

and she goes on, “Mam had one exactly like this.”   Gwyneth is looking increasingly uneasy, as Tesni admits, “I’m sorry, but I feel as if I’ve been punched in the stomach.”

"That's the thing about grief"

“That’s the thing with grief,” says Gwyneth, and Tesni stresses that she has made a point of not thinking about her mother for several weeks, wondering if that makes her a terrible person.

"Mam's killer is still out there"

“This makes me feel close to her again – Mam’s killer is still out there,” she says,

"The police are doing their best"

and Gwyneth maintains that the police are doing their best, something which Tesni doubts,

"I haven't heard a word from them for ages"

as she has not heard a word from them for ages.

When Gwyneth asserts that these things take time, Tesni snarls, “And a lot more time if I’m not here to keep an eye on things.   I don’t think I can move to Cardiff.”

"Jaclyn wouldn't want you to miss an opportunity"

“Jaclyn wouldn’t want you to miss an opportunity,” she is told, but decides that Cardiff can wait, and this matter cannot;

The scarf is handed back

she hands the scarf back to Gwyneth.

"Tomos ac Ellis are happy to help"

As the celebration continues, Ieuan wonders if they have decided where to live after getting married;  “Tomos ac Ellis are happy to help if you have a problem!”

"We'll remember that, Ieuan"

Kelly says that they will remember that,

"The wedding is the most important thing now"

but Anita regards the wedding as the most important thing now.

"Your mother and I are going back 'down under'"

Dai pipes up, “Don’t take too long – your mother and I are going back ‘down under’.”   He is admonished by Diane for putting pressure on them, insisting that it is important to take their time and do it properly.

"Expecting me to stay in this cold, wet dump?"

“What?” he moans, “You’re expecting me to stay in this cold, wet dump, when I could be soaking up the sun on Oz?   No way, José!”

"Diane seems really serious, Dai"

Kelly advises him to listen to Diane, because she seems really serious.

That is quite unmistakable

The forbidding look on Diane’s face makes him quieten down.

"You haven't started packing yet"

Rhys arrives at number 9 and finds that Tesni has not started packing yet;

"I'm not coming"

“That’s why I’ve called you over – I’m not coming.”   He looks downhearted, but she assures him it is not for ever, but not now.   “I haven’t dealt with what happened to Mam yet.   I know you’ve tried to get to to me to talk, but I couldn’t face it.”

"I know it's not easy"

He appreciates that it is not easy.

"I'm not sure what I'm going to do . . ."

“I can’t forget what happened to her, and I’m not sure what I’m going to do,

". . . but I'm determined to catch whoever did it"

“but I’m determined to catch whoever did it.”

"Remember I'm here if you need help"

He reminds her that that he is always there if she needs help, but he still has to go, as he has handed in his notice.

"I don't expect you to stay"

“I don’t expect you to stay,” she adds, and he says that they have had a lot of fun.

"The last few weeks have been amazing"

“The last few weeks have been amazing,” she tells him,

They kiss

and they kiss.

“Cardiff’s not far if you ever need a break,” he reminds her,

"Shall we go to the Deri?"

and they agree to go to the Deri to celebrate, but he will not have any shots tonight.

"You can pay – you've got a new job!"

Tesni tells him that he can pay, as he has a new job.

Ieuan hold on to his bottle

As Jason is trying to prise a bottle of champagne from the grasp of the sleeping Griffiths, Diane advises him that Dai has something to say to him.

Dai has been instructed to apologise

“Yeah, I’m sorry if I threw cold water on things earlier.”

Then he is prompted by Diane to continue, “And of course we’ll both be here until after the wedding.”

"Thanks, Dai"

Kelly and Jason thank Dai for that, and he suggests some more champagne;

"Wakey wakey, Ieuan"

however, Griffiths is still fast asleep.   He wakes up when Jason pulls the bottle from his hands,

Kelly is racked with guilt

and we see that Kelly is looking very guilty.

"I bet they wanted to get rid of you"

In the Deri, Rhys tells Tesni, “I hope Gwyneth and Cassie are not too gutted that you’re staying – I bet that they wanted to get rid of you.   Are you happy, Gwyneth, that you’re going to keep your third housemate for a while longer?”

Gwyneth looks pleased that Tesni is staying

Gwyneth is sure that Rhys will miss Esther,

He will be having a farewell breakfast

and is told that they are having a farewell breakfast before he leaves.   Tesni thinks that they should make a fuss of him while he is still here;

"How much money do you think I have?"

“I meant Prosecco – how much money do you think I have?   And I think you should make a speech.”

"If you want a house in Cardiff, just let me know"

He addresses her, “If you want a house in Cardiff, just let me know –

"Iechyd da!"

iechyd da!”   She says that she found that very emotional.

"Is Arwen all right?"

At Cysgod y Glyn, Jinx is doing some tidying up when Ffion returns home, asking about Arwen.   He reports that she is, “Champion,” and she thanks him for keeping her company at the hospital.

"What should I do, Ffion?"

As she is about to go to bed, Jinx asks her, “What should I do?   I can handle a bit of heartbreak – I’m well versed now – but I don’t think I can stand watching Kelly marry the wrong guy.”

"Perhaps you should let her go"

Ffion answers, “I know this is a cliché, but if you love her, perhaps you should let her go.”

"That's the trouble with clichés"

He replies, “Well, that’s the trouble with clichés – the damn things are true!”

"Loving someone I can't be with"

She adds, if it is any consolation, that she knows how it feels – loving someone she cannot be with,

Come on, Jinx, use a bit of common sense – YOU!

but he does not understand who she is talking about.

"Someone from a long time ago"

She dismisses it as someone from a long time ago and now will go to bed.

She looks back at Jinx

On her way to the door, she turns and looks at Jinx, who is deep in thought.

He sends. a late-night text

Then he gets his phone and sends a text message at just after 22:30.

"You should eat something, Ffion"

Mathew is trying to persuade Sioned to eat something, as he is sure that she will not have done since DJ left.

"Perhaps I should be happy for DJ and Non"

She simply says that she does not want anything;  “Perhaps I should be happy for Non and DJ – he deserves to have a family, doesn’t he?”

"You're the only person who can make him happy"

Mathew tells her that DJ would prefer to be happy – and Sioned is the only person who can do that for him.

"I've got too much baggage"

“I’ve got too much baggage – the issues at Penrhewl and here.   I got us into this financial hole – I lost this baby.”

"That was not your fault"

He assures her that what happened to the baby was not her fault, but she reveals that it is the second baby she has lost.

"I don't deserve to be happy"

“This is karma, Math – I don’t deserve to be happy.”

"Would he, if we can't have children?"

“Listen, DJ loves you, Sioned,” Mathew insists, and she wonders if he would still love her, if they could not have children.

Mathew turns the question round;  “Would you, if he couldn’t have children?   Right – give him a chance.”   She does not know how many time she has read that note, but it is emphasised that she has chosen to ignore what it says.

"Stop hiding, Sioned"

“If you want to know what’s going on, stop hiding!” he instructs her, as he gets out his phone, dials DJ’s number

Sioned takes the phone

and hands it to her.

"It's a foreign ringtone . . ."

With a look of horror, she announces that there is a foreign ringtone;

". . . I knew he'd gone back to Non!"

“I knew he’d gone back to Non!” and she bursts into tears.

Kelly receives Jinx's text . . .

Jason has pumped up the air bed once again, as a message arrives on Kelly’s phone;

. . . offering congratulations

it is a single word from Jinx, ‘Congratulations’.

"And I shall be seeing him at work first thing"

Jason has had the same thing from Mathew – with about ten emojis;  “And I shall be seeing him at work first thing.

"The marital bed is ready, Mrs Francis"

Right, the marital bed is ready, Mrs Francis.”

"Not yet, Jase

“Watch it!” Kelly tells him, “Not yet.”

"I hate this bed!"

The lights are turned off and they snuggle under the duvet.   “I hate this bed!” she growls.

"But I love you!"

Jason agrees that so does he, but as he embraces Kelly, he adds, “But I love you!”

Jinx looks at his phone . . .

Jinx sits alone on the sofa at Cysgod y Glyn

. . . showing Kelly's reply

and looks at Kelly’s message thanking him for his congratulations;

He dreams of what might have been

he lies back and dreams of what might have been.
