Sioned has a present for Huwi

Sioned is sitting in the Deri with a large box.   Cassie comments that Huwi-John will love that;

"He's being spoilt by his older sister"

“He’s being spoilt by his older sister.”   Sioned maintains that she does not get the chance very often, so she is making the most of it.

"Huwi's gone to see Siôn Corn"

Then her mother comes in and gives her the unwelcome news that Huwi cannot come;  “He’s gone to see Santa Claus.”   Sioned protests that they had organised it,

"We saw Ben and his father"

and is told, “We saw Ben and his father – and Huwi was invited to go.”

“You should have refused!” insists Sioned, “You promised I could have Huwi!”

Cassie brings over their coffee

As Cassie brings over their cups of coffee,

"You can see him another time"

Eileen says that Sioned can see him another time.

"I have to get to work"

Kelly is looking rather fraught in the kitchen at Bryntirion and offers Anita a coffee, but she is in a hurry to get to work, as she is late already.

"There's no need for you to be frightened of the boss"

“There’s no need for you to be frightened of the boss,” Kelly tells her, but is informed that Jason and Mathew have called an urgent meeting to discuss the video,

"APD could lose customers"

stressing that APD could lose customers.

“How do you reach that conclusion?” Kelly asks, and Anita regards the video as ‘dirty’.

"It's squeaky clean, compared to a lot of the stuff on there"

“It’s squeaky clean, compared to a lot of the stuff on there,” Kelly elucidates her.

Anita wishes her good luck with her meeting today, assuring her that she is doing the right thing after what happened.

"I'm looking forward to having you around"

“Personally, I’m looking forward to having you around a lot more,” she adds,

Kelly dresses warmly

and Kelly puts on her pink coat with the furry collar.

"We could have a couple of spa days"

“Do you know what?” Anita goes on, “We could have a couple of spa days and go shopping.   I’m going to ask the boss if I can have a couple of days off.”   Kelly is looking undecided.

"She wants to get the whole family over"

In the shop, Colin complains, “She wants to get the whole family over for dinner – the works!”

"What do you mean, Col?"

Garry wonders what he means by that,

Colin reels off the long list

and Colin reels off the list, “Her, me, Aaron, Chester, you and Gwern, Dani, Seren and Gabriel – I don’t know if we’ve got enough room!”

"Between you and me . . ."

Garry makes it quite clear, “She can’t invite them – tell Britt not to invite Dani and the kids.   Between you and me, I’m hoping to spend Christmas in the flat with Dani.”

"And how are you going to wangle that?"

Colin enquires how he is going to wangle that, and he says that he has got the violin out already;  “I’m going to call at the flat on Christmas morning to see the children’s presents,

"Beans on toast for lunch, alone"

“and when I tell Dani that I’m going to have beans on toast for lunch, alone, she’s bound to take pity on me and invite me to stay – bingo!”

Colin predicts that the problem will be how he is going to persuade Britt to change her plans.

"Easy – you're going to do it!"

“Easy – you’re going to do it!” Garry replies, “Just tell her there isn’t room for everyone – which is true.   Go on and on about it, like you do –

The thought terrifies Colin

“you might as well phone her now, to get it out of the way.   It will only take two minutes – please, Col, it means I can relax and look forward to the big day.”

Garry gives Colin his phone

Garry hands over his phone, but Colin does not look confident.

"I might as well send it back, then"

In the Deri, the atmosphere between Sioned and her mother is rather frosty;  “I might as well send that back, then,” Sioned grumbles,

"You can keep it for next time"

but Eileen says that she can keep it for next time.

"You're trying to cut me out of Huwi's life"

“When you’ll have another ploy to stop me seeing him,” Sioned predicts, “It’s perfectly obvious that you’re trying to cut me out of Huwi’s life – what sort of mother would do that?”

"You're bound to poison his mind against me"

“OK, I’ll be honest with you – I don’t want Huwi to spend time with you.   You’re bound to poison his mind against me,” Eileen tells her,

"I would never stoop that low!"

but Sioned alleges that she would never stoop that low.

"You're bound to turn him against me"

“You’re bound to turn him against me with your underhanded ways.”

"I learned it all from you!"

“You’re the fine one to talk – I learned it all from you!” growls Sioned, “And the only reason DJ wants to stay on the right side of you is in case we need a favour one day – to hell with you!

"Who needs a poisonous old woman around the place?"

“Who needs a poisonous old woman around the place?   You know what?   I feel sorry for Huwi – you’re bound to let him down one day, like you did with me – with Angela – and exactly like you did with John!”

Sioned feels very strange . . .

Then Sioned suddenly feels an unusual pain

. . . and rushes to the toilet

and rushes towards the toilet;

"Is everything all right?"

Cassie, behind the bar, looks rather concerned.

"Filthy, isn't it?"

At APD, they are watching Tyler’s video;  “Filthy, isn’t it?” snarls Anita, and at that moment Tyler comes in.

""Let's see what he has to say for himself"

Jason looks forward to seeing what he has to say for himself.

"Welcome back"

“Welcome home – did you have a good time?” he asks Mathew, but he sees the trio of forbidding faces and can hear his own voice on the video.

"What's wrong?"

“What’s wrong?” he demands.

"You tell us, Tyler!"

“You tell us, Tyler,” answers Jason, “What do you think is wrong?”   Tyler describes it as just an innocent video.

"You put it on APD's account"

“Nothing wrong?   You put it on APD’s account, Tyler!” Mathew shouts, and Tyler points out that it should not be there, so they want him to explain.

He says that Mark put it up;  “If he did it on purpose, I’ll kill him!”

"What if Mark Jones is messing around like that?"

Anita is scared of what might happen if Mark Jones is messing around like that.   Tyler is trying to contact Mark and walks out of the shop.   Jason is going to lunch.

Colin tries to get a word in edgeways

Colin is doing his best to talk to Britt;  “Yes . . . no . . . I know . . . think about all the work.   We’ll be on our feet all night, peeling potatoes, parsnips and carrots.   I want the family over as well, of course I do, but do we have to have everyone the same day?”

He is not making much headway . . .

By now Garry is becoming impatient,

. . . so Garry seizes the phone . . .

so he grabs the phone.

. . . but does not have any more success

“Britt . . . yes, I do understand, I just . . .” but the phone goes dead.

"When she gets an idea into her head . . ."

Colin knew that this would happen;  “When she gets an idea into her head, there’s no reasoning with her – I don’t know how we’ll fit everyone in that house!”

"Hello, boy, can we talk?"

Garry says that he is not giving up that easily and takes out his own phone to speak to someone.

Meanwhile Tegwen has come into the shop and is perusing various items,

"I'll come back later"

then looks in her purse to see what she can afford.   “Do you know what?   I’ll come back later,” she says.

"Do you want to borrow some money?"

Rhys has just come in you and asks if she wants to borrow some money;

"No, it's OK"

she refuses and leaves the shop, which he finds puzzling.

"You're still here, then"

When Jason arrives home he finds that Kelly is still there, about which he is pleased;

"I've left Mathew to sort out that nonsense"

“I’ve left Mathew to sort out that nonsense with Tyler – I don’t have the patience!” he groans.

"Won't you be late for your meeting?"

Kelly detects that things are not good, and he imagines that she will be late for her meeting with the boss.   “I’m not going,” she has decided, “I’m not quitting – because I’m not giving up after one mistake.”

"That one mistake caused your lots of problems"

He reminds her that the one mistake caused her lots of problems,

"I've learned my lesson, Jase"

and she replies that she has learned her lesson.   Jason accepts this,

She drinks her coffee

but Kelly does not want her coffee topped up.

"It was meant to be on my account"

Tyler returns to APD and explains that it was a mistake;  “Mark uploaded the video to APD’s account without realising.   Honestly – it was meant to be on my account.”

"It turns my stomach!"

Anita cannot understand why anyone would want to watch it;  “It turns my stomach!” she exclaims.

"It could damage the business, Tyler"

Mathew is not happy about the situation and points out that it could damage the business.

"You're wrong – we've got loads of likes"

“You’re wrong – we’ve got loads of likes and twice as many followers,” Tyler informs him,

"It's nothing less than pornography!"

but Anita insists that is nothing to brag about, describing it as nothing less than pornography.

"Just get out of my sight – go home!"

“Just get out of my sight – go home!” Mathew tells him, but he was hoping to work there as he is out of action.   “I don’t want you near this place – you could send customers away.   Go – now, please!” he is instructed.

Tyler leaves

Tyler sadly leaves the premises.

"Sioned, are you still here?"

The next scene takes place in the ladies’ toilet of the Deri;  Eileen comes in and asks, “Sioned, are you still here?”

Sioned is experiencing severe pain . . .

Behind one of the cubicle doors, Sioned is in excruciating pain, but Eileen, unaware of this, demands, “I want an apology!”

. . . but Eileen angrily goes on

Sioned seems be in danger of losing consciousness, the pain increasing in intensity, and Eileen’s words are difficult for her to hear;  “Sioned, I mean it – I’m not leaving until you apologise!   Lots of people would give the world to trade places with you.   It’s about time you stopped being so ungrateful and realised how lucky you are.”

"I never thought it would be so much fun!"

Elsewhere in the Deri, Mathew tells Rhys, “I never thought going to Lapland would be so much fun.”

"That Tesni was such a laugh!"

Rhys agrees, points out that Tesni was such a laugh – an absolute liability.   “Do you remember her buying all those shots?   Hilarious!” Mathew goes on.

"I thought she looked pretty hot!"

Rhys had never realised that she was such a laugh;  “And I thought she looked pretty hot on that sleigh as well!”   Mathew points out that may have been something to do with all the ‘Glögg’ he had consumed.

"Must have been a good joke"

Tesni comes in and assumes that it must have been a good joke;  “We’re just reminiscing about the Lapland,” Rhys tells her.

"Yes, I saw it on Instagram"

She had seen on Instagram that they enjoyed themselves, and that Tesni was there.   Mathew says that she insisted on coming.

"We did have a fantastic time"

“We did have a fantastic time, didn’t we, Math?” says Rhys, “We didn’t stop laughing from start to finish!”

"No, thanks"

Tegwen declines the offer to take a look at their photos and tells Mathew that he does not need to feel guilty;

"I'm glad the trip didn't go to waste"

“I’m OK about it – I’m glad the trip didn’t go to waste.   At least someone had a good time.”

"I won't touch alcohol over Christmas"

Mathew says that he had enough ‘Glogi’ to last a lifetime, and does not think that he will touch alcohol over Christmas.

Cassie detects some improvement there

He suspects that things between him and Tegwen are improving.

Sioned is in no better situation

We return to Sioned in the toilet, who is crying out in pain;

"Don't pretend to be ill"

her mother growls at her not to pretend to be ill, but then realises that something is wrong.

Then she has second thoughts

“Sioned, what’s going on?

"You're scaring me now"

“You’re scaring me now.”

"I'm losing the baby, Mam!"

“I’m losing the baby, Mam – I’m bleeding!” Sioned cries, and her mother realises,

"How many weeks are you?"

asking how many weeks she is.

"Everything was going fine"

“Everything was going fine,” she sobs and Eileen begs her to open the door.

Kelly shouts with frustration

At Bryntirion, Kelly is a fiery temper as she slams the laptop shut and shrieks, “Oh, why?”

Jason investigates

Jason comes to investigate the problem and is informed, “They want me to write about recycling bins and Santa in the shopping centre in Llanelli!”

"You should be safe enough in a shopping centre"

He rather sarcastically reminds her, “You should be safe enough in a shopping centre.”   She is quite convinced that this is punishment for not telling them that she was investigating Howard.

"You can't blame them, can you?"

“Well, you can’t blame them, can you?”   I don’t,” is Jason’s less than sympathetic reply.

“Kelly, I don’t see the problem – you want to quit, then you don’t, then you do and now you don’t.”

"Leave it, Jason – I'm exhausted"

She tells him to leave it, because she is exhausted.

“You’re exhausted?” he answers, “Look, you can’t rush into big decisions like this.

"If you want to change your mind again . . ."

“All I’m saying is, if you want to change your mind again . . .”

"I'm going for a nap"

but before he can finish his sentence, she decides that she is going for a nap.

". . . that's fine – that's what I was going to say, Kelly"

“That’s fine – that’s what I was going to say,” he adds, after she has gone.

"Strange place to go without children"

In the Deri, Cassie remarks that she has heard they had a great time in Lapland;  “It’s a strange place to go without children.”   Mathew regrets that nothing can be kept private around there,

"When you plaster things on Instagram"

so she replies, “It’s hard to keep things private when you plaster photos on Instagram!   It looked like you were trying to make someone jealous.”

Mathew has a phone call

Mathew receives a phone call and walks away to answer it;

"Well, the holiday was paid for"

Rhys explains to Cassie that the holiday was paid for so they might as well have a break, and she agrees that some people deserve a break more than others.

"I know you're talking about me"

Tegwen, behind the bar, knows that they are talking about her.

"I was telling them not to rub your nose in it"

“I was telling the boys not to rub your nose in it,” Cassie tells her, but Tegwen does not care and does not want someone else to speak for her.

Cassie maintains that she was only trying to help,

"Your 'help' put me in an embarrassing situation"

and is told, “Your ‘help’ put me in an embarrassing situation with Siôn yesterday – so mind your own business.”

"What?   You're joking?"

As he speaks on the phone. Mathew says, “Yes, Tyler Davies-White – he’s one of our workers.   What?   You’re joking?”

Colin comes to see Garry

Garry has a visit in the chip shop flat from Colin,

"Aaron has decided to stay in Newcastle"

who tells him, “There’s been a change to the plans – Aaron has suddenly decided to stay up in Newcastle over Christmas.”

"Why would he possibly do that?"

Garry attempts to look surprised at this revelation, and Colin continues that Britt is going to stay there with him.

“What’s going to happen to all your plans, then?” Garry enquires, and he is assured that it will not have an impact on his plans with Dani.

"Britt wants me to join them"

Britt wants Colin to join them in Newcastle now,

"You won't have to peel a mountain of sprouts now"

and Garry is pleased that he will not have to peel a mountain of sprouts.

“I just can’t understand why Aaron changed his mind,” worries Colin,

"He must have a good reason, Col"

and Garry is sure that he must have had a good reason, adding that Colin should not breathe a word to Dani about all of this.

"You don't live here any more, Col"

As Colin takes off his coat, it is pointed out to him that he no longer lives there;

"Oh yes – I forgot"

“Oh yes, I forgot,” he says, picking up his coat and leaving again,

This makes Garry smile

much to Garry’s amusement.

Sioned is still in agony

Sioned is in much the same position in the toilet and her mother asks if she wants some water;

"You're not going to pass out, are you?"

“You’re not going to pass out, are you?”

"It's the pain, Mam!"

but Sioned does not know what to do about the pain.

"This is my fault"

She is told to take deep breaths and Eileen agonises, “This is my fault – if I hadn’t upset you . . .”   Sioned denies that it is her mothers fault, and Eileen asks if she should ring DJ, but Sioned does not want that.

"Stay where you are, OK?"

Eileen will fetch some clean clothes and some towels;  “Stay where you are, OK?” she says and hurries off, looking very concerned.

"Going to sack me, are you?"

Mathew goes to number 7, where Tyler is expecting to be sacked;

"I'm not going to pretend I'm happy"

“I’m not going to pretend that I’m happy,” Mathew begins,

"But Mark is to blame"

but Mark is blamed for the mistake and Tyler pleads not to be sacked.

"Someone wants us to install a bathroom . . ."

“Be quiet a minute,” Mathew tells him, “I’m not going to pretend that I’m happy, but one of APD’s followers has asked us to install a bathroom – and he says he wants you to do the work,

". . . Mr Screwdriver!"

“Mr Screwdriver!   He saw the video and you’ve made an impression on him, and many others.

"Without that video, we wouldn't have got the work"

“I’m man enough to admit that without that video, we wouldn’t have got the work.

Tyler is looking very smug

“Congratulations – you’re going to be very busy –

"See you, Mr Screwdriver!"

“see you, Mr Screwdriver!”

Eileen returns with the requisite items

Eileen is back in the toilet with the necessary items in a bag, which she passes under the door to Sioned.

"I haven't told anyone what's happened"

“I haven’t told anyone about what’s happened – there’s no need to worry about that.

"We can go straight back home from here"

“We can go straight back home from here if you want, or if you need to see a doctor, we can do that.   “Everything will be all right, love, you’ll see – you’ll be fine.”

At last, the door opens . . .

The cubicle door finally opens

. . . and the two of them hug

and Sioned is embraced by her mother,

"I'm so sorry, Sioned!"

who sobs that she is so sorry.
