Eileen hurries into the farmhouse

Eileen marches into the farmhouse, followed by Britt;  “You’ve no idea how much danger you’ve put me, Huwi – and yourself – in by letting that monster come back here!”

"Garry praised him"

Britt cannot understand this outburst as Garry praised him, 

Eileen relates his misdeeds

so she is informed that Howard stole Fflam the dog and threw him to vicious dogs – and then he turned the dogs on Eifion!   Britt maintains that Eifion has a habit of lying, but she is told, “Shut up – you don’t understand!”

She unlocks the firearms cabinet . . .

Eileen finds a key on the shelf and goes to unlock the firearms cabinet, 

. . . and takes out the shotgun

while Britt tries to dissuade her.

In the Deri, both Siôn and Griffiths are nursing their injuries as Kelly looks at Jinx’s video record;  

"It's bound to go viral!"

“Non-fight of the century – it’s bound to go viral!” she squeals.   

"I'm glad it didn't come to blows"

Anita is simply glad that it did not come to blows, and they can just say that it was a bit of fun.

"I feel so ashamed"

“I feel so ashamed,” Siôn tells Iolo, and it is pointed out that he got rather worked up and forgot that weak ankle.   “I can’t believe that I agreed to take part,” groans Siôn, 

"You're lucky I had a bad back"

but Griffiths maintains Siôn is lucky that he had a bad back.

"Grow up, the pair of you!"

Iolo has had enough of this and warns them, “Grow up, the pair of you.”   

"Unless you want the world to see . . ."

Jinx cautions them that unless they want the world to see how childish they are . . .  

"You wouldn't put that online?"

Siôn is concerned that the video is going online.

“Yes, actually – unless you sort this stupid quarrel out!” Kelly snarls.   

"I'll exchange the token for a book"

Siôn agrees that he will exchange the token for a book, 

"I'll try to reinstate the book deal with Y Winllan"

so Ieuan Griffiths is virtually forced to say that he will do everything in his power to reinstate the council’s book deal with Y Winllan.

"Yay – peace at last!"

Kelly is jubilant that an agreement has been reached, 

"I'll get a round of drinks"

and Iolo will get a round of drinks to celebrate.

"It's all right – he's gone"

At Penrhewl, Eileen stands, armed with her shotgun, when Britt rushes back in to announce that Howard has gone, but Ffion is there.   

Ffion finds the gun rather unnerving

Eileen puts down the weapon and makes the excuse that she saw a fox.

"I've got a lot on at the moment"

“If there is a problem at school, it will have to wait – I’ve got a lot on at the moment,” she says.   However, Ffion wants to talk to her as a parent, not as the chair of governors;  

"It's about Huwi-John and his absence from school"

she is worried about Huwi-John and his continued absence.

“I had intended to invite you to the school for a chat, but that would be difficult as he’s still off sick.   What has the doctor said?”   

"He hasn't seen a doctor"

Eileen says that he has not seen a doctor, as it is impossible to get an appointment these days.

“But the school needs to know what is the matter with him – perhaps we can send him work,” Ffion continues, 

"He is feeling better"

and is told that Huwi-John is feeling better.   

"So we can expect him tomorrow, then?"

“Oh – we can expect him tomorrow, then?” asks Ffion, “Otherwise he’ll be absent without permission – and that is breaking the law.”   

"Yes, I do know the rules"

Eileen confirms that she does know the rules, and is informed that they will keep the matter between themselves for now, 

"Otherwise I'll have to take the matter further"

but if he is not at school tomorrow Ffion will have to take the matter further.

"Needed the toilet in a hurry, did you?"

Kath arrives back at Maes-y-Deri to find Mark just coming downstairs;  “Needed the toilet in a hurry, did you?” enquires Brynmor, but Mark maintains that he left his phone charger there the other day.   

“I heard the flush,” Brynmor goes on, 

"I had a few coffees this afternoon"

so Mark gives the excuse that he has had a few coffees this afternoon.   He is anxious to discuss something other than his waterworks, and is assured that there are tablets to sort it out.

"I'm fine – I feel great!"

“Well, I’m fine – I feel great,” Mark growls, so Brynmor assumes that he has decided to go to the doctor.   

"Time is very important, Mark"

His mother thinks that he should, as time is very important;  

"It happens to us all as we get older"

“It’s only a urinary problem, that’s all – it happens to us all as we get older – it’s like losing your hair,” Mark emphasises.

Kath offers to make an appointment for him, but he vehemently refuses, alleging that he is fit and healthy;  

He is in a rush to leave the house

then he finally locates his charger and leaves the house

Dani is chatting to Petra

In the Deri flat, Dani is on the phone to Petra;  “Yes, I’m chuffed with a ‘two-two’ – a ‘two-one’ would have been better, but . . . that’s what you got?   

"Pop over so we can compare notes"

“That’s amazing, Petra!   Pop over so that we can compare notes.”

"I want to see my son"

During this conversation Dylan has walked in and is demanding to see his son;  

"You should have checked"

he is told that Gabriel is sleeping and that he should have checked before turning up.   

"So Petra is welcome, but I'm not"

“So Petra is welcome – somebody you hardly know – but your son’s father isn’t!” he complains.

"It would help of you showed some interest"

“It would help if you showed some interest in me – the course perhaps,” she replies, and he congratulates on passing something.   “It proves that I can do without men in my life!” she exclaims, 

"I'm trying to keep everyone safe"

but he says he is trying to be a responsible father and keep everyone safe.   

"It's all in your head!"

“It’s all in your head!” she insists. 

He protests that it felt very real when he found his sister’s body.   

Dylan has a phone call

Then his phone sounds;  “Thanks for phoning back – a little bird told me you might be able to help me.   Gwyneth Jones, Cwmderi.   

"I need to know the exact time and date . . ."

“I need to know the exact date and time she came out of jail, please.   

" . . . I'll wait to hear from you"

“I’ll wait to hear from you – thank you.”

Howard picks up a few more items

Howard is on his way out of the farmyard when Britt sees him;   “I thought you’d gone,” she says but he forgot his bags.   

"You should have said about your shenanigans"

“You should have said about your shenanigans at Deri Fawr!” she tells him, “I’m disappointed in you.”

"I was only following orders"

He maintains that he was only following orders;  “If I didn’t, my life wasn’t worth living – sorry.”   

"What's he doing here, Eileen?"

As he walks away DJ comes upon the scene and demands what Howard is doing there.

Britt answers, “He was helping me do the jobs Eileen wanted me to do – 

"I know how much Eileen has suffered because of him"

“but at least I know now how much Eileen has suffered because of him.   It might be easier to understand each other from now on.”

"You're going to start jogging?"

Tyler is incredulous that Mark wants to start jogging, in order to look after his health.   He wonders if everything is all right;  “Come on, Mark, you’re not getting any younger – what is it?”   

"It's nothing major"

Mark reveals his problem with the prostate, which is nothing major, and this explains why he is constantly back and forth to the toilet.

"Why don't you run to Penrhewl and back?"

Tyler suggests, “Why don’t you run to Penrhewl and back – it’s not too far, is it?   

"Remember to stretch before you leave"

“But remember to stretch before you leave – and you’re not Mo Farah, so take your time.”

Mark is en route to Penrhewl . . .

Shortly afterwards, Mark is jogging along the High Street, 

. . . and ignores his mother

and his mother is surprised to see him as she sits outside the Deri.   He completely ignores her and continues round the corner.

"Is everything all right, Dylan?"

Dylan peers cautiously out of the Deri and Megan asks him if everything is all right;  he admits that he looks a bit dishevelled, and it does not help that he does not have a suitable place to live.   

"I sleep at Tapas now"

“Dani kicked me out – I sleep at Tapas now.   At times like this, you find out your friends are,” he replies, very pointedly.

"I dreamt that Gareth Wyn was alive and and well"

She asks after the little one and recalls that last night she dreamt that Gareth Wyn was alive and well and enjoying life.   Dylan comments that perhaps he is.

"Now knowing is eating me alive"

“I’d like to know one way or the other – not knowing is eating me alive,” she groans, 

"There are websites that specialise in that"

and he advises that there are websites that specialise in finding missing people.   

"You couldn't look for me?"

She is reluctant to ask if he could look on her behalf to see what he can find.   

"Anything for you, Megan"

Of course he agrees to this, but has an ulterior motive.   Megan is very grateful.

"Everything you need to know is in there"

Up in the Deri flat, Petra is helping Dani;  “Everything you need to know is in there,” she says, pointing to a book, “I bought it online for peanuts.”   There are Post-it notes inside, 

"I always summarise every chapter"

as Petra always summarises every chapter.

She has a present for Jinx

In her bag she has an album that she has brought for Jinx;  “He hasn’t heard them and I was worried he’d miss out.”   

"You are sweet"

Dani describes her as very sweet, but she points out she had a spare copy.

"I've only met him once"

“Do you think I’m pushing things too quickly?   I’ve only met him once,” she wonders, and is advised that if she likes him to go for it.

"A bit of a scatterbrain – but he's lovely"

“He’s lovely – a bit of a scatterbrain – but he’s lovely,” says Dani, and Petra considers them to be the exciting ones.   “Go and find him – he’s either selling pizzas or books – go on – the pizzas are amazing!”

Eileen is in tears

In the kitchen at Penrhewl, Eileen, who is in tears, is doing the ironing when DJ comes in.   “If I’ve come at an awkward time, I can come back,” he offers, but she replies that company helps.   

"I saw Britt just now"

“I saw Britt just now,” he goes on, and she confesses that at times like these she misses Jim more than ever.

"Howard knew what he was doing"

“Howard knew what he was doing – opening old wounds like that,” he snarls, and Eileen regrets that she actually grabbed the gun.   “You didn’t stoop to his level, did you?” DJ reassures her, “And I’ll make sure he doesn’t come near this place again.”

"Huwi-John has to go back to school tomorrow"

“And then on top of everything, Huwi-John has to go back to school tomorrow,” she sobs;  

"That's a good thing, isn't it?"

it is pointed out that is a good thing, as he is better.   She admits that he has been for a long time, but she wanted the company, so she kept him at home.

"It's like having Jim back here"

“As he grows, he looks more like Jim – it’s like having him back here,” but DJ stresses that he should be at school.   

"You'll be here to welcome him home"

She will be here every night to welcome him home, give him tea and ask him about his day.   

"Just like I did with Jim"

“Just like I did with Jim,” she says and DJ adds that he will be happy to come home to Eileen as well, just like Jim was.

Anita is ministering to Ieuan

Griffiths is trying to make himself comfortable at Bryntirion and Anita brings him a cup of tea;  “A little bit of TLC from you, and I’ll be A1 again,” he tells her, 

"I can't believe I almost hit Siôn White"

“I can’t believe I almost hit Siôn White with boxing gloves on.”

"It's easy to let things get the better of you"

Anita appreciates that it is easy to let things get the better of you sometimes, especially after all he has been through with his mother.   

"The end of an era, as they say"

“Sometimes the heart makes a man behave very unreasonably,” he confesses, “Not that I’m looking for excuses – the end of an era, as they say.   

"How do you fancy staying in a 'pod'?"

“A break would be nice – how you fancy staying in a ‘pod’ out in the country?”

"I thought you were a five-star kind of guy"

She was under the impression he was a five-star kind of guy, but he maintains that sometimes the simple things are more interesting;  

"Champagne in a hot tub"

“Champagne in a hot tub.”   Anita can visualise the sun setting.

"Thank you for everything, Anita"

As he thanks her for everything, 

Kelly is just returning to the house

Kelly comes in quietly through the back door;  Griffiths adds, “It would have been difficult to deal with this on my own – 

"You didn't side with Siôn at all"

“you stayed with me through everything – you didn’t side with Siôn at – that means the world to me.”   

Kelly is pleased with what she hears

Kelly smiles with satisfaction.

Mark overhears a conversation

Mark arrives back at number 7 to hear his mother talking to Tyler;  

"He's got a health problem!"

“He’s got a health problem!” she says, and Tyler replies that is why he is doing the jogging.   “Are you mad?   You don’t encourage someone in that state  to go jogging!   Not before getting medical advice!”

"I've made an appointment"

Tyler will persuade him to go for a checkup, but is informed by Kath, “Don’t waste your breath – I’ve made an appointment.”   

"I've told you to keep your nose out!"

Mark bursts in and stresses that he has already told his mother to keep her nose out.

“You have no right to discuss me like this!” but his mother insists that they do, 

"We're all worried about you, Mark"

as they are all worried about him.   

"It could be something serious"

Tyler reminds him that it could be something serious, but he rages, “I don’t want to hear it!”   

"That's your problem – you won't listen"

Kath says that is his problem, that he will not listen, but he maintains that he is listening to his body;  

"I wouldn't be able to jog to Penrhewl if I was ill"

“I wouldn’t be able to jog to Penrhewl if I was ill – it proves that I’m OK.”   

He gets a glass of water 

And with that, he walks out into the kitchen where he gets a glass of water.

Dylan discovers Megan in the Deri

Megan is sitting in the Deri when Dylan come in and notices her;  

"I have good news for you"

“I have  good news for you – I’ve found a man with the same name, originally from Wales but now living in Seattle.   

"The age ticks the right box as well"

“The age ticks the right box as well.”

“If he’s alive and well why hasn’t he contacted his mother?” Megan wants to know,

"I'm not sure how long I'll be around"

and Dylan will make some more enquiries, but is not sure how long he will be around.   He says he is thinking of renting a flat in Swansea.

"You could stay with me"

Exactly as intended, Megan volunteers, “You could stay with me – I’ve got plenty of room,” 

"I don't want to be a burden"

but he maintains that he does not want to be a burden – however if she is sure, he will be pleased to accept.   

"It means I'll find out immediately"

“It means I’ll find out immediately if you manage to find Gareth,” she replies, and he thanks her for her hospitality.

"The Gorky's chief groupie!"

Petra comes into the bookshop, where Jinx is behind the counter; “Hey – The Gorky’s chief groupie!” he exclaims, “I was thinking about you earlier – I was wondering how the course is going.”   

"I got a 'two-one'!"

She is pleased to announce that she achieved a ‘two-one’ in the assignment, 

"You're obviously very clever"

so he can see that she is obviously very clever.

"Arwen did them – her mother is the local head teacher"

Then she notices two of Arwen’s paintings on the counter;  he explains that Arwen is the daughter of his friend.   “Her mother, Ffion, is the local head teacher – 

"But we're not . . . just friends"

“I live with her – but we’re not . . . just friends.”   

She gives him the present

She produces the present she has brought for him, explaining that she had two.

He is very surprised, realising that they must have made a big impression on her, 

"They changed my life for the better"

and she agrees that they changed her life for the better.   They will see each other around, 

"Could I have your phone number?"

and he asks if he can have her phone number – just to let her know what he thinks of the album, ‘Datblygu’. [which translates as ‘Data Analysis’]

Dylan speaks to his contact

Dylan is on the phone once more, talking to his contact;  “I need to know on what date Gwyneth was released from prison, please.   

"Eleven in the morning?   And that's official?"

“Eleven in the morning?   And that’s official?   Thanks – you’ve been a big help.   

"Everything makes sense now"

“Everything makes sense now.”   He has a steely, determined look in his eyes.
