“I’m living with one of the owners, as it happens,” he says, and Tegwen goes upstairs to the flat. “Well, that’s very generous –

“I’ll have a word in his ear tonight and I’ll be in touch. Leave it with me,” Rhys continues, and looks very pleased with himself.

In the shop flat, Tegwen calls for Mathew and he appears in his dressing down; “Rhys let me in – sorry I should have texted,” she tells him.

"What are you doing here?" |
He explains that he was about to have a shower and wonders why she is there.

"Would you mind If I chilled here" |
“This might be a bit weird, but would you mind if I chilled and had a nap here while you’re working?” she asks, “I’ve just finished a night shift at Brynawelon, and I’ll get no peace at home. I brought these.”
When he sees she has breakfast, he agrees that of course she can stay there.

“You know what? I might be coming down with something,” he maintains, “I might have to text Jason to say I’m too ill to work today.”

Tegwen laughs at this excuse, and he comes to the conclusion that he will have to stay home

At Bryntirion, Jason and Anita are getting ready to go to work when Kelly comes in through the back door, carrying another item of artwork.

“Introducing Zara – isn’t she amazing, stunning?”
Anita replies that she thinks she is glad to be moving out of there; “It’s getting more like Bristol Zoo every day!”

Jason is also looking somewhat askance at the creature, and also notices that the rug is new as well.
“Late night purchase – I forgot to tell you,” says Kelly, and in response to his quizzical expression,

goes on, “Right, I can’t help that I have a personality, and I just want to express it, OK?”

"Ifan will love that giraffe" |
Jason is sure that Ifan will love that giraffe, whereupon she enlightens him that it is a zebra. He also describes the rug as absolutely beautiful.
Kelly is worried that it is rather boring,

"You're as bad as each other!" |
Anita has had enough of this, and calls them as bad as each other; she is going to work.
“Well, I love our safari theme – our very own jungle-inspired lounge,” enthuses Kelly.

As Jason picks up his breakfast roll to take a first bite, some ketchup spills out of it and lands, of course, on the new rug.

Fortunately this is not noticed by Kelly before she also leaves, and he is anxious that it should be cleaned up as soon as possible.

However, in his haste, he knocks over his cup of coffee on the rug as well,

which causes him some consternation.

Colin is speaking on the phone; “Yes, I want to cancel it, please – no, I understand that.

He pretends it is a marketing call |
Suddenly Britt comes downstairs, and he pretends that it is an unsolicited call; “How many times do I have to tell you? We don’t want double glazing or insulation!” Britt has put on her coat, and he asks if she is looking forward to starting her new job.

“I’d rather stick pins in my eyes!” she snarls, as she marches out of the house.

“Well, that was a good morning!” Mathew exclaims, as he and Tegwen return from the bedroom. By this time she is starving,

and Mathew assures her, “Any time you want some me time – or some us time – come over!”

"It's so nice to escape from the madhouse" |
She replies, “It’s so nice to escape from the madhouse – my younger sister babysits Ken when I work night shifts, but she brings her own kids and it’s like a circus.”

Mathew wonders if Ken’s father could help out, and by her expression, presumes that he has died.
“No, nothing like that,” she answers,

“I’d rather not talk about him, if that’s all right.” They settle down to watch some TV, but Mathew does look rather puzzled.

Britt arrives at Penrhewl, where she is reprimanded for being late; Well, I’m here now,” she casually comments.

Eileen has a lot to do today, and gives the instruction that Britt has to sterilise the jars, which is very important, and then fill them with different chutneys. All the details are on a spreadsheet, which must be followed exactly.
Britt giggles, and is informed that there is apple chutney, plum chutney, pickled beetroot chutney.

“What’s that? It looks like cat vomit!” demands Britt.

She is told that it is piccalilli; “Cauliflower, mustard, fennel,” and Britt admits she was only joking, and does know what piccalilli is; she also knows how to sterilise jars.

“Keep your knickers on, Eileen – you should be glad I’m here,” Britt insists, but Eileen is not so sure.

Eileen’s final instruction is that there is a cake in the oven which has to be taken out in an hour. (It is obvious what will happen to that.)

The first thing Britt does is to get the kettle to make herself a cup of tea.

Both Tegwen and Mathew have fallen asleep in front of the television; when they wake,

Tegwen demands, “What happened to the gargoyles after they attacked the space centre?” but Mathew cannot help there.

“Listen,” he says, “About the scars on my chest.” She replies that he does not have to talk about it, as she knows the story, which was in the papers,

“I might be a bit old-fashioned, I don’t know, but I want us to be able to talk about everything together. There’s no rush – when the time is right.”

Tegwen describes him as really lush; “How would you feel about meeting Ken?” she enquires, “He’s hard to please – he put salt in my last boyfriend’s tea, and Polyfilla on his toothbrush,”

then reveals that she is joking – again. “The truth is, I’ve never introduced him to anyone – I don’t want to mess with his head – not until I’m sure – and now . . .”

so she realises he is hiding something, and insists that he can tell her – promising she will not say a word.

Britt is sitting on the sofa in front of the television and chuckling; then Eileen realises that the cake is still in the oven,

and, as predicted, finds that it is simply a blackened lump. Britt mutters, “Sorry – oops that.”

DJ comes into the Deri and is informed by Sioned, “Please don’t be angry, but they’ve agreed – the bank – they’ve agreed the loan!”

He protests that they agreed they were not going to do that, but she is adamant that they will be careful with the money, and that he should not worry.
“You went behind my back, after everything we said – you deceived me!” he stresses,

but she grumbles that if he insists on throwing cold water on everything, he can carry on.

She is going to the bar to get a bottle of champagne to celebrate; “It’s up to you whether you want to join me.”

“Things are looking up for you as well, from what I see,” Rhys replies, “I assume you enjoyed the Netflix and chill with Tegwen.” Mathew says that she is great – and she loves sci-fi as well.

“It’s lucky I bought two bottles – we’ve got celebrating to do,” exclaims Rhys, “Me passing my assessment, and you’ve finally found a woman who likes sci-fi!”

Anita is listening to all this as she pretends to be looking for stock; “Did that go through, then?” he asks, “Good – they’re not cheap, are they? I can tell you it’s going to be worth every penny, so thank you.”

“But you have to pretend you don’t know anything,” Anita goes on, “He’s going to ask you to marry him – Jason’s going to propose!”

Kelly’s terse answer is, “No – you’ve got the wrong end of the stick. We’ve already discussed it and marriage genuinely isn’t on the cards.”

Undeterred, Anita ploughs on, “I heard it with my own ears, all right –he’s spent a fortune on the ring. I’m so happy for you!”

It is Anita’s opinion that she cannot say no, but Kelly disagrees vehemently;
