Dylan picks up the note |
Dylan continues looking at Jaclyn, picks up the post-it note, then hurries into the kitchen to equip himself with a large knife;
"I want to see you – now!" |
he stands at the foot of the stairs and shouts, “If you’re still here, I want to see you – now!” However there is no sound and instead he goes out of the back door, through the gate,
"Garry!" |
and as he looks up and down the road, he shouts, “Garry!” at the top of his voice.
He puts down the knife |
Returning to the house, Dylan puts down the knife and kneels in front of Jaclyn’s lifeless body;
"I'm sorry for everything" |
“I’m sorry – I’m sorry for everything.”
Cai thinks he had better go |
At Llwyncelyn, Cai picks up his jacket and prepares to leave the house; Gaynor cannot quite understand Hywel’s reaction.
"The kettle has just boiled" |
“You’re welcome to stay – the kettle has just boiled,” he says, and Gaynor asks if he fancies going to the Deri for a drink. “No, I don’t fancy going anywhere,” he replies,
"This is what we agreed, isn't it?" |
“This is what we agreed, isn’t it?”
"We'll get out of your way then" |
She informs him that they will get out of his way, and he is quite amenable to that; she and Cai go upstairs.
When Mathew walks into the Deri, he remarks that there are open late tonight; “Well, Cassie’s not here, so I’m in charge,” replies Eifion, “Pint?”
"Your new girlfriend not with you?" |
Siôn is surprised that Mathew’s new girlfriend is not with him,
"She's looking after her sister's children" |
and he explains that she is looking after her sister’s children, and so the house is full.
Siôn knows the feeling, “I have to come here for some peace sometimes.”
"It's on the house" |
Eifion tells Mathew that the drink is on the house, and he is surprised that Eifion is allowed to do that.
"That's why I had another one" |
“I had the same – that’s why I had another one,” says Siôn.
“What are they going to do – sack me?” remarks Eifion, dismissively.
"What's going on out there?" |
Then they hear the sound of sirens and see flashing blue lights outside; they wonder what is going on.
"I hope there's nothing wrong at Y Winllan" |
Siôn hopes that there is nothing wrong at Y Winllan and hurries outside to find out.
The police are out in force . . . |
Crime scene tape is being rolled out across the street and there are several police cars in attendance. All the attention centres on number 10.
. . . and Colin comes out to investigate |
Colin looks out from the shop to see what is happening and tells Siôn that he has no idea what it is all about; “I was doing the stock-take and didn’t see anything. All of a sudden all these cars landed here.
"Tesni isn't home, is she?" |
“Tesni isn’t home, is she?”
"I heard that Dylan is back" |
Siôn confirms that she is still in London, but he has heard that Dylan is back.
"It's important that you co-operate with us" |
Inside the house, PC Lesley Thomas tells Dylan, “Mr Ellis, it’s important that you co-operate with us here – we need to understand everything – where you’ve been, when you arrived home.
"What kind of state was your sister in" |
“What kind of state was your sister in when you walked in? Mr Ellis? I understand this is difficult, but every second counts. We need to know what happened, so come out to the garden for a chat.”
"I found my sister like that" |
“What do you think happened?” he snarls in reply, “I walked in and I found my sister like that. You’d better find out whoever did this quickly –
"If I find them before you . . ." |
“because if I find them before you, I won’t apologise for what I’ll do to them!” He stands up and they go into the garden.
Ffion is being inquisitive |
At Cysgod y Glyn, Ffion is peering through the blind, and having difficulty seeing what is happening;
"Stop being nosy, Ffion" |
Jinx advises her to stop being nosy.
She looks for an excuse to go outside |
She looks into the cupboard and says, “There’s nothing left – Arwen must have eaten them all – I’ll go to the shop.”
"What – at this time of night?" |
“What – at this time of night?” he demands, so she changes her mind
"I'll get crisps from the Deri, then" |
and will instead get some crisps from the Deri. She says she hardly sees him these days and it is not often they have a film night on their own.
She wonders if he has chosen something to watch, but he is not sure what what he fancies;
"I don't want to watch a horror film" |
“I don’t want to watch a horror film,”
"How about a 'rom-com', then?" |
so she suggests something romantic – a ‘rom-com’. He will see what he can find, and meanwhile Ffion will see what is happening outside.
Jinx has bought a Tedi bear . . . |
Jinx gets his bag and takes a teddy bear from it, then writes a note to go with it,
. . . and writes a note to Jaclyn |
‘So glad that you’ve changed your mind. Jinx XX.’
"I'll bring the whole bottle" |
Cai comes downstairs and tells Gaynor that he will bring the whole bottle; as he heads towards the fridge,
"That's my dressing gown" |
Hywel exclaims, “For goodness’ sake – that’s my dressing gown!”
"I grabbed the first thing I saw" |
“Is it? I grabbed the first thing I saw,” answers Cai
"Never touch my stuff again!" |
and is warned not to touch Hywel’s belongings again. “Sorry, I’ll come down naked next time!” Cai tells him.
“And you think there will be a next time, do you?” laughs Hywel, as Cai takes a bottle from the fridge, “You don’t know Gaynor, do you? She gets bored quickly – I bet I’ll never see you here again!”
"Even more of a reason . . ." |
Cai regards that as even more of a reason to make the most of tonight. He looks at the bottle of wine and then returns upstairs with it, while Hywel sits, fuming.
"The phone was recovered from the dishwasher" |
In the garden of number 10, PC Thomas reports to DI Sophie Fielding (who has been promoted from DS since we last saw her, seven years ago) that the phone was recovered from the dishwasher.
"Great – I still need prints!" |
“Great – I still need prints,” the DI complains, and is told that Dylan Ellis, brother of the deceased is standing there. “Why isn’t he at the station?” she demands.
"I'm in charge of this tragic investigation" |
She introduces herself, “Detective Inspector Fielding – I’m in charge of this tragic investigation. I’m very sorry for your loss, but you need to go to the station to be interviewed.” Dylan growls that he can be interviewed there.
He is informed that they have to follow protocol,
"The murderer is getting further away!" |
and he snarls, “I’m following protocol. The murderer is getting further away!” She insists that they are doing everything they possibly can and would really appreciate some co-operation.
"When you do more than look in dishwashers" |
“I’ll co-operate when you do more than look in dishwashers and question family who are supposed to be grieving!” he snarls at her.
"Either you can come voluntarily, or . . ." |
She warns that either he can come down to the station voluntarily, or she can force him to do so.
"I was in the bath – typical!" |
Out in the street, Britt joins Ffion, who is watching from a distance and has no idea what is going on. “I missed everything – I was in the bath – typical,” grumbles Britt.
Dylan is led from the house |
As they watch, Dylan is led out of the house between two police constables.
"Prison's the best place for him" |
“He only got let out today, didn’t he?” comments Ffion, and Britt maintains that people like him never change, and that prison is the best place for him. Ffion wonders if they ought to tell someone, and does not know where Jaclyn is. Britt says that there is only one place to get answers to questions like that, and that is the Deri.
Dylan is taken from the village |
The car containing Dylan is driven away.
"There's nothing on the Western Post website yet" |
“There’s nothing on the Western Post website yet,” says Eifion, just as Britt and Ffion come in.
“You’re not going to believe what we’ve just seen,” Britt tells him
"Here's a much better source than the Western Post" |
and Siôn, who regards her as a much better news source than the Western Post. “Dylan has been arrested again!”
"No – he was put in the back of a police car" |
Ffion stresses that he was just put into the back of a police car. They wonder if Jaclyn is working tonight, and assume that she might be in the house.
Eifion will ring her now, and Mathew suggests that someone should check on the rest of the family, Tesni for instance.
"Leave it until we know what is going on" |
Siôn thinks it would be better to leave things alone until they know what is going on.
"I'm keeping an eye on the place" |
Britt intends to stay put and keep an eye on the place.
She asks Eifion for a large vodka, and when asked if she wants it on the house,
"Well, I do own half this place!" |
remarks, “Well, I do own half this place – Eifion can give free drinks to anyone he likes! Something big is going on tonight and we need to stick together. Actually, we can have a ‘lock-in’ – Eifion, free drinks for everyone.”
"Let me know if you hear anything" |
Siôn considers that it is time he went, asking them to inform him if they hear anything.
"And a free orange juice for Ffion" |
Ffion is instructed to have a free orange juice,
She sends Jinx a message . . . |
and sits down at a table to send a message to Jinx.
. . . to give him the news |
He is sitting on the sofa, staring at the television screen, when the message arrives; it reads, ‘The police are at Jaclyn’s house. Do you know what’s happened?’
Jinx is concerned . . . |
Seeing the flashing lights outside,
. . . and cannot contact Jaclyn |
he calls Jaclyn’s number, but is simply invited to leave a message.
"So Don Juan's left then?" |
Hywel is sitting dejectedly when Gaynor reappears with two empty glasses; “So Don Juan’s left, then, has he?” mutters Hywel.
"You're still all right about this, are you?" |
“You’re still all right about this, are you?” Gaynor enquires, “You’re not jealous or anything?”
"What – jealous of Cai?" |
He cannot imagine being jealous of Cai, and points out that earlier he also had an offer.
“And not from an ex I used to work with, either,” he emphasises.
"If you're not happy with this, Hywel . . . " |
She insists that if he is not happy with this arrangement . . .
"No, I have no problem with it" |
“No, I have no problem with the arrangement,” he continues,
and she is sure that it will also be awkward the first time he brings someone back there.
"Perhaps we can even laugh about it"
“But at least we can discuss it together – and perhaps even laugh about it,” she suggests,
Hywel simply sighs |
but Hywel simply sighs, so she takes the glasses into the kitchen.
"People are terribly worried" |
Colin walks forward to ask PC Thomas if there is anything she can tell him, as people are terribly worried; “I can’t tell you anything at the moment.”
"We're ready to bring out the body" |
Then the DI comes out of the house, as they are ready to bring out the body.
"What's going on, Colin?" |
Jinx asks Colin if she said what is going on and is told, “Dylan’s been carted off, but I think Jaclyn’s still in there.”
Jaclyn's body is taken from the house . . . |
Then they watch as the bodybag is removed from the house
. . . and loaded into the private ambulance |
and placed in a private ambulance.
"Please don't say that's Jaclyn!" |
“Please don’t say that’s Jaclyn!” gasps Colin,
Jinx is devastated |
and Jinx is absolutely devastated.
Cai is back at Y Felin |
On his way back from Llwyncelyn, Cai creeps into Y Felin, but obviously not quietly enough, as Iolo come downstairs;
"I thought I heard someone" |
“I thought I heard someone,” he says, and Cai apologises.
Iolo assures him, “It’s all right – I was checking on Greta – she couldn’t sleep. Are Twm and Lleucu home safe?
"Things will get better, you know" |
“Things will get better, you know. – I found it difficult the first time Greta stayed with Tyler – everywhere was tidy – but you’ll get used to it! Just make sure you make the most of the time you have to yourself, and the time you share together.”
"They're going away on holiday tomorrow" |
Cai says they are going away on holiday with Nesta tomorrow, “And Val’s taken my ticket. It will be the longest time I haven’t seen them, ever – and it will just be so quiet, you know?”
"And Dad can be noisy sometimes" |
Iolo says that he is there for Cai, and so is Greta; he also points out that his father can be noisy sometimes. “Do you want a beer?” Iolo asks,
"One more won't make much difference" |
and Cai concedes that he has already had a lot of wine tonight – but one more won’t make much difference.
"Get the beer and I'll tell you everything" |
“Not in the Deri – go and get the beer, and I’ll tell you everything,” says Cai, “And you’ll need one, too.”
"The chip shop fire was nothing like this" |
“There were a lot of cops here the night of the fire in the chip shop – but nothing like this,” Britt insists,
"Don't say that, Britt" |
“No, I don’t remember anything like this since Sheryl was killed
"Something big met be going on" |
– I’m just saying – something big must be going on or there wouldn’t be so many cops.”
Colin comes in, looking very solemn, and Britt asks if he has heard anything;
"Jaclyn – she's dead!" |
“Jaclyn – she’s dead! I don’t know how –
Ffion is aghast . . . |
“they just brought her body out.”
. . . and gros to find Jinx |
Ffion rushes out to find Jinx, and Colin tells her that he was out there just now;
"He had as much of a shock as I did!" |
"You should have seen Hywel's face!" |
“You should have seen Hywel’s face!” exclaims Cai,
"I bet he'll wash that dressing gown now" |
and Iolo imagines that he will wash that dressing gown now; “Or burn it in the garden!” Cai suggests, and they continue drinking their Carling.
"You could look for a new hobby" |
“See? It can be a good thing, not having the kids around the place,” Iolo points out, “This might give you the chance to look for a new hobby.”
"Gaynor wouldn't be happy to be called a 'hobby'" |
Cai doubts that Gaynor would be happy about being called a ‘hobby’. He just wants to find time for these things, as life has always been about Nesta and the children.
Iolo maintains that there is a lot going on in Cwmderi, if he looks for it;
"You could help Dad in Y Winllan" |
“Perhaps you could help Dad in Y Winllan,” but this idea does not to meet with approval. “The rugby club?” is the next suggestion, but Cai reminds him of who is looking after the rugby club these days –
"Oh ,yes – Hywel Llywelyn!" |
Hywel Llywelyn.
Siôn arrives, very concerned |
Then Siôn arrives home, looking very preoccupied.
"Jaclyn's dead!" |
He says that he is not all right; “Jaclyn’s dead – nobody knows what happened. There were a lot of police outside number 10. They took Dylan away, but I had no idea she was in there. I’m not sure whether or not Tesni knows –
"Do you think I should phone Tesni?" |
“do you think I should phone her? And what about Guto and Gerwyn in South America?”
"It's not your place to say anything" |
Iolo does not consider that it is his father’s place to say anything; he proposes to make a cup of tea,
"How about something stronger?" |
but Cai suggests that something stronger might be in order, and Siôn agrees with this.
"I've been trying to get hold of you" |
Ffion is looking very worried at Cysgod y Glyn when Jinx returns, carrying a gift bag; “I’ve been trying to get hold of you,” she says,
"I've been for a walk" |
and he explains that he has been for a walk to clear his head.
"At least she was just a friend" |
“I’m sorry, Jinx,” Ffion tells him, “I know the two of you had been close, but at least she was just a friend – sorry, I didn’t mean to sound insensitive.”
"Yes, we were just friends" |
“No, it’s all right – we were just friends, weren’t we?” he replies, and she asks what is in the bag, suspecting it is something for her her or for Arwen.
"A present for Jaclyn – and our baby!" |
He is on the verge of tears as he shows her the teddy bear; “It’s a present for Jaclyn – and our baby! I don’t want to talk about it.” She wonders how long he has known, stressing that he cannot keep something like that to himself.
"You've been sticking your nose in" |
He snaps, “I’ve only just found out – you’ve been sticking your nose in when it comes to Jaclyn for weeks – just mind your own business, OK?”
"I wasn't trying to interfere" |
She insists that she was not trying to interfere, so he tells her, “Stop it, then!
"The woman carrying my child has died" |
“I’ve just found out that the woman who was carrying my child has died – so, for tonight, don’t make me talk about it.”
