"Ah, yes, Kidney Beans"

Colin is counting the stock in the shop and has just reached the tinned kidney beans.   (Other items on the shelf include ALDI’s ‘Soupreme’ vegetable soup and ‘Sweet Harvest’ Chick Peas.)

"Did you see anything out of the ordinary?"

A voice behind him says, “Good for the liver,” and he discovers that it is DI Fielding.   “Can I have a word, please?” she asks, “Did you see anything out of the ordinary the day Jaclyn Parri died?”

"Not that I can recall"

Colin cannot not recall anything, but when he is asked if any strangers were around, or if anything struck him as odd in the last few days.

"Anyone acting strangely?"

“Anyone acting strangely?” and he immediately calls to mind the incident with Jinx and the flowers.

"The flowers went everywhere!"

“He kicked over the flower display outside – the chrysanthemums, carnations and lilies went everywhere!”   He explains that Jinx is Huw Jenkins, and the DI makes a note.   Colin adds, “But he’s a nice man – he wouldn’t harm anyone.”

"Even more strange"

The DI suggests that makes the episode even more strange and enquires about what angered him.

"He found out something about Jaclyn"

“He was angry with Jaclyn – he found out something about her – but Jinx is a lovely person – he wouldn’t hurt a fly.”

"What did he say?"

DI Fielding insists that she wants to know what he said.

"That she wasn't going to get away with it"

“That she – Jaclyn – wasn’t going to get away with whatever he found out about her,” replies Colin,

The DI makes a note of that . . .

and the DI writes that down;

. . . and Colin is rather worried

he looks rather worried.

Rhys is trying to sell a house

Megan is picking up litter outside Bethania and we can see that Rhys is just leaving the house next door to Cysgod y Glyn, where he has been showing a potential buyer.

"You obviously love your job"

He thinks that he has secured a sale and Megan comments that it is nice for him;  “You obviously love your job, and not everyone can say that.”

"Yes, I'm enjoying it"

He agrees that he is enjoying it.

Ffion searches for accommodation in Tregaron

Ffion is looking online at static caravan breaks, and groans, “Anything will do, all I want is a bed and a toilet.”   Jinx reminds her that Tregaron is a small place, and she continues,

"Ive looked everywhere from Aberystwyth to Cardigan"

“I’ve looked everywhere from Aberystwyth to Cardigan.”

He rather sarcastically suggests, “How about a tent?” but Ffion flatly refuses to rough it in a tent for a week.   “A static caravan?” is his next idea.

"Anything with  hard roof"

“What do you think I’ve been looking for?   Anything with a hard roof!” she snaps, and is dialling a number on her phone.   Jinx points out that people have had a three-year head start on them.

When Ffion asks if the site has a static caravan for next week,

"Yes, I know its Eisteddfod week"

she exclaims, “Yes I know it’s Eisteddfod week – my little girl’s competing in the folk dancing,”

Jinx raises his eyebrows

which makes Jinx look rather surprised.   “She’ll have to wait until next year then, won’t she?” Ffion says angrily.

"A head teacher lying in such a fashion!"

“A head teacher lying in such a fashion!” Jinx reprimands her, and then wonders if they could possibly borrow a caravan.

"Jinx, you're a genius!"

Ffion hails him as a genius, and makes another phone call.

Tesni is given refuge in Y Winllan

Siôn is in the bookshop when he notices Tesni approaching, apparently being hounded by a member of the press;  she seeks sanctuary in the shop,

"Go away, or I'm calling the police!"

and Siôn warns her pursuer, “Go away, or I’m phoning the police!”

“Tes, I don’t know where to start,” he says, and Tesni explains that she was going to the Deri to see Dylan, but that man saw her.

'The news hasn't sunk in yet"

The news about her mother has not sunk in yet, and she complains that she is not allowed in the house, as there is crime scene tape everywhere.

“How did it happen?   I don’t understand!”

"No-0ne can understand it"

Siôn replies that nobody understands.

"I'll never see Mam again"

“I never thought when I left I’d never see Mam again – I would have told her so much.”   Siôn assures her that her mother knew.

It is lunchtime at APD

Mathew is about to eat his lunch at APD when Sioned comes in

"That looks nice"

and rather fancies what it is he is eating;

"Well, you're not having any"

“You’re not having any!” she is told,

"Remember, we're eating in the Deri"

and reminds him that they are eating in the Deri later.   “Sioned, that’s dinner –

"This is lunch"

“this is lunch,” he explains, “I’ve told Tegwen to meet in the Deri at seven, if that’s all right with you and DJ.”

"You are going to be nice to her, aren't you?"

Sioned will see him later, but Mathew anxiously asks, “You are going to be nice to her, aren’t you?”

"I'm nice to everyone, Math"

and Sioned insists that she is nice to everyone.   “You know what we’re like – we tease each other,” he goes on, and she says that she likes a bit of banter.

She promises not to say a word out of place,

"Tegwen is special"

and Mathew continues, “Tegwen is special.”

Kelly makes Jason's sandwiches

Kelly is preparing some sandwiches when Jason returns home;  “I’ve only got five minutes –

"I have to be in Llanarthur"

“I have to be in Llanarthur by a quarter to,” he says and she maintains that rushing will not do his stomach any good.

“Losing work in Llanarthur won’t do my stomach any good either,” he replies,

"Ffion wanted to use the van, but I refused"

and she tells him that Ffion phoned, wanting to use the van, but Kelly refused, as they will be using it.

“I’ve found an amazing place outside St David’s!” she enthuses;  Jason wanted to talk to her about that.

"If I land that job in Llanarthur . . ."

If he does land that job in Llanarthur, he will not be free to go anywhere.

"I've worked my guts out!"

“I’ve worked my guts out, trying to get the van ready!” she snarls, “So when?”

"About a fortnight, Kelly"

She is not at all happy when he says that it will be a fortnight;  “Jason, we’re supposed to be on holiday – and you were supposed to have booked time off!”   She angrily hands over the sandwiches

"Grrr!"

and growls with frustration.

Eifion munches on a pickled egg

In the Deri, Eifion helps himself to a pickled egg from the jar on the bar;  “Do you have to eat those?” demands Cassie, and he points out that is why they are there.   “They’re for the customers,” she snaps, and then notices that Britt is writing ‘Soup and Chips’ on the specials board.

"I'm not going to put the chips in the soup!"

“On the side – I’m not going to put the chips in the soup!” growls Britt, and Cassie suggests that she could persuade Eifion to eat chips instead of those horrible eggs, which are full of cholesterol.

“Good cholesterol,” Britt insists,

"Some bad press, but it's not all bad"

“It’s had some bad press, but it’s not all bad.”

"A bit like me, then!"

Eifion thinks that it sounds like him.   “Don’t be so hard on him,” Britt urges Cassie,

"Might as well put the pickled eggs in charge"

who gruffly replies that she might as well put the jar of  pickled eggs in charge.

Britt points out that he has had a traumatic experience, but maintains that everyone can change.

Cassie is not hungry

Tesni and Siôn come in, and he decides to have soup and chips, but Tesni does not want to eat anything.   When Cassie asks where she will be staying,

"I thought I'd be able to go home"

Tesni does not yet know;  she had taken it for granted that she would be able to go home.

"You can stay with me"

Cassie offers accommodation in her home, and Siôn says she could stay at Y Felin;  she accepts Cassie’s offer.   Now she will go upstairs to see Dylan.

"Why does she want to see him?"

“Why does she want to see him?” wonders Eifion, “Hiding upstairs – and everyone knowing he did it.”   Cassie points out that they do not know that yet, and he goes on, “It’s not long ago that he shot Jaclyn –

"He just finished the job"

“is it hard to believe that he just finished the job?”

"I' not sticking up for him . . ."

“Look, Eifion, I’m not sticking up for him –

". . . but why not shut that mouth of yours?"

“but why not shut that mouth of yours?” she warns him, “Before you get us all into trouble.”

Tesni finds Dylan staring into space

We see the back view of Dylan, sitting motionless in the Deri flat;  Tesni walks into the room.

Megan walks along the street . . .

Megan walks along the street, past number 10,

. . . and Rhys is showing round another customer

and notices Rhys taking another potential client into the house, numbered ‘1’, next to Cysgod y Glyn;

She does not appear to approve

she looks disapproving.

"I walked in – and she was dead"

“I walked in and there she was,” Dylan tells Tesni, “And she was dead.”

"I can't imagine who would do that"

Tesni cannot imagine who would do that, and after quite a long pause, he agrees that neither can he.

"I will find out – and when I do . . ."

“But I’ll tell you one thing – I will find out, and when I do . . .”

Tesni wonders what would be the point of that;  “Mam’s gone,” and she sobs uncontrollably.

DJ has a domestic crisis at Deri Fawr

Sioned walks into the Deri, on the phone to DJ;  “Right – you haven’t sorted it yet?   How bad is it, then?   Hopefully I’ll see you later.”

"He's sorting out a burst pipe"

She reports to Tegwen and Mathew that a pipe has burst at Deri Fawr and DJ is trying to sort it out.   Mathew thinks that he should phone Iolo,

"DJ knows what he's doing"

but Sioned insists that DJ knows what he is doing.

Tegwen remarks that Sioned looks gorgeous, and that she should have made more of an effort herself.

"I only had five minutes after making dinner for Ken"

“But I only had five minutes after making dinner for Ken – my son, who’s eight but thinks he’s eighteen!”   Sioned remarks that Tegwen does not look old enough;

"I don't get compliments very often"

“Thank you – I don’t get compliments very often, says Tegwen.

"Ken was named after Ken Owens"

“And Ken was named after someone famous – Ken Owens,” Mathew tells Sioned, who replies that DJ maintains that he is distantly related to Ken Owens, but she regards it as wishful thinking.

"Ken is Scarlets mad"

“Ken is Scarlets mad – everything he has is red – he knows all the stats, especially about the Sheriff,” says Tegwen,

Mathew is rather puzzled

but Mathew has not heard him referred to as that before.

"Mathew was going out"

When Jason returns to Bryntirion, he apologises that he is late because he had to lock up;  “Because Mathew was going out.”

"Must be nice to have a social life"

Kelly comments that it must be nice to have a social life, but Jason has had an idea.

"The van can make money for us"

“My idea is about the van and how it can make money for us.   There’s no point in having it sitting here while we wait for time off to go away.  We could do it all online – we could hire the van to Ffion for . . . I don’t know, what shall we say?

"How much do they charge for vans these days?"

“How much do they charge for vans these days?”

"A fortune, probably"

“A fortune, probably,” Kelly imagines, but they would not charge Ffion too much because she is a friend.

Then Jason gets a surprise

Then Kelly turns round the laptop to show him what she has been working on;

Kelly has beaten him to it

the website for the camper, showing the amount of work she has put into the refurbishment.

"£500 – and Ffion is happy with that"

“£500!” she says “And Ffion is happy with that –

"So, sorted!"

and she’s going to write a review – so, sorted!”

"I'm staying with Cassie"

After they have been talking, Tesni thinks it is time that she left, as Cassie has offered her a place to stay.

"I'm not letting you go anywhere"

Dylan forbids this;  “No – you’re staying here – Dani won’t mind.   I’m not letting you go anywhere until they find out who did this!” he snarls,

"You're beginning to scare me"

and is beginning to scare Tesni.

"I'm doing this for your mother"

“Good – I’m not doing this for you – I’m doing it for your mother,” he goes on, “She’d never forgive me if I let you out of my sight.”

Tesni recalls that she could boss them all around.

"Now there's no-one left"

“When we moved here, everything felt so promising – and now there’s no-one left,” she sobs,

"I'm still here for you"

but Dylan points out that he is still there;  he is still there for her and he is not going anywhere.

"Right, another round"

In the Deri, Mathew will go and get another round;  “Let him pay – I’m not arguing,” says Tegwen.

"You don't remember me, do you?"

When he has gone, she continues, “You don’t remember me, do you?   Morfydd, my sister, was in the same class as you in school, and I was a year younger.”

“Yes, I remember Morfydd, but not you,” Sioned replies.

"You made Morfydd's life hell!"

“You made Morfydd’s life hell!   Picking on her for being tall – calling her a giraffe.”   Sioned dismisses that as just a joke at school.   “Yes, for you, perhaps.

"Demanding her lunch money"

“Pulling her hair because she wouldn’t give you her lunch money wasn’t fun!”

Sioned is looking rather sheepish and maintains that she does not remember that.   Tegwen continues, “Convenient!

"Remember what you did to me on the boys' toilets?"

“Do you remember what you did to me in the boys’ toilets?”

Sioned evasively emphasises that she has changed a lot since school, and Tegwen agrees that people can grow out of it;  “I don’t like you, Sioned –

"I'll put up with you for Mathew's sake"

“but I’m willing to put up with you for Mathew’s sake.”   This appears to have taken the wind out of Sioned’s sails.

Jinx looks at the website

Jinx is now looking at the website, and Ffion says that it looks a good price to her;

"Are you all right, Jinx?"

“Are you all right, Jinx?” she asks,

"I'm not on the phone!"

and then Arwen comes in and is told to put down her phone.

“I’m not on the phone!” she protests,

"We're going in a camper van to Tregaron"

and she is advised of the good news that they have a campervan to go to Tregaron.   “You said we weren’t going,” Arwen grumbles,

"I don't want to!"

“I don’t want to!”

"Young people love the Eisteddfod"

Ffion points out that young people love the Eisteddfod;  “Well, I don’t – and you can’t force me!” is the angry reply.   Ffion points out that she can, and will, even if she has to drag her daughter there,

"I'd like to see you try!"

“I’d like to see you try – because no way am I going!” Arwen shouts and walks out of the room.

DI Fielding calls upon them . . .

Then the buzzer sounds, and DI Fielding would like a word with Huw Jenkins.

. . . and Jinx looks decidedly uneasy

He looks very apprehensive.

"I don't know what you've been saying about me"

Mathew returns with the drinks to find a somewhat frosty atmosphere between the girls;  “I don’t know what you two have been saying about me,” he remarks,

"Only nice things"

and Tegwen answers that it was only nice things.   There is still no sign of DJ and as they continue,

Sioned is not very happy

Sioned glares at Tegwen.

"Why were you angry with her?"

“Why were you angry with her, then?” the DI asks, and Jinx says that it was complicated.   “Was it to do with the baby?   You knew she was pregnant, didn’t you?   Were you unhappy about it?   Did you want her to get rid of it?”

"She was going to get rid of it"

He points out that she was going to get rid of it and that he was just angry that he was not told, but he accepts that it was her choice.

"That doesn't mean you were happy with her decision"

“That doesn’t mean you were happy with her decision,” says the DI,

"She changed her mind, anyway"

He did not know what he wanted, and in any case she changed her mind.

"Why hide the fact you'd argued?"

He is asked why he hid the fact that they had argued,

"Perhaps it was shame"

and he believes that it may have been shame, for reacting so sharply to something unimportant – considering what happened afterwards.

"Hiding things can be a crime"

He is reminded that hiding things can be a crime, but he insists that he has nothing to hide, which the DI seem to be pleased about.

"Don't go far, Mr Jenkins"

“But a word of advice, Mr Jenkins, don’t go far,” is her parting comment,

"He is even more anxious now

and he looks even more anxious.
