It appears that Cai is 'chatting up' Sioned |
Cai has been chatting to Sioned in the Deri; “It’s been nice to catch up – a lot has happened since I’ve been away,” he says.
![]() |
"What did he want, then?" |
When DJ returns from the toilet, he is looking suspicious: “What did he want, then?” and is told that Cai is going to meet Rhys, who will be showing him some houses.
![]() |
"I know his type" |
Sioned wonders what is wrong with DJ, and he replies, “I just don’t like him, that’s all – I know his type.”
![]() |
"Because I said I thought he was hot?" |
“This is because I said I thought he was hot when I was in school,” realises Sioned, but DJ maintains that you cannot trust blokes like that. “We’re not here to argue about Cai,” she snarls,
![]() |
"We need to sort out Deri Fawr" |
“We need to sort out Deri Fawr – the damp in the bedroom is getting worse and you said you’d sort it!”
He points out that he has been busy with the stock, but will have a look at it this afternoon,
![]() |
"Why don't we go back to Penrhewl, then?" |
adding, “If it’s that bad, why don’t we go back to Penrhewl? Eileen would be pleased to see us.”
Sioned groans, and he continues, “I’ve heard that Eileen has been phoning around everyone, looking for help.” Sioned maintains that is exactly what she deserves,
![]() |
"I'm not moving back there!" |
and is adamant she is not moving back there.
![]() |
"Lets ask APD to do the work |
“Let’s ask APD to do the work,” she suggests,
![]() |
"That will cost a fortune!" |
but DJ protests that it will cost a fortune, and in any case, John is the landlord, so he should pay. “How are you going to get John to pay?” Sioned demands, “That will take ages – we’ll find the money – we just need to do the important things first!”
As usual, DJ concedes to her wishes, telling Sioned, “Go and get a quote from APD – and make sure you get a good deal.” He is going back to Deri Fawr,
![]() |
Sioned smiles at Cai . . . |
and Sioned appears pleased with herself as she looks across
![]() |
. . . and makes sure thatch notices |
towards Cai at the bar.
![]() |
"Colin, can you come over later . . ." |
Colin is walking past APD when he sees Mathew, who asks if he can come over to the flat later;
![]() |
". . . around seven?" |
“I’ll explain everything then – around seven?”
![]() |
"Yes, OK then" |
Colin agrees and continues on his way.
![]() |
There is that new barman again |
Rhys has now joined Cai in the Deri, and phones to say they will be viewing a property in ten minutes;
![]() |
"We can visit the other two tomorrow" |
“We can visit this one now, and the other two houses tomorrow.”
Cai says that on the way Rhys can tell him how the rugby club is doing;
![]() |
"Since Dai left, it's been a shambles!" |
“You don’t want to know – since Dai went to Australia, it has been a shambles –at least he knew how to shout at the coaches,” says Rhys.
Cai hopes that when he is back permanently, he may be able to help a bit, and kick a few people up the backside.
![]() |
Here comes Jinx |
Then Jinx comes in, looking rather miserable, and Cai immediately starts winding him up again;
![]() |
"Such a smart landlady" |
“Here’s a man who’s landed on his feet – living under the same roof as such a smart landlady. Perhaps I could move in with you – what do you say?”
“Does Ffion know you talk about her like that?” Jinx demands,
![]() |
"Ffion's looking for a man who can give her what she wants" |
and as he leaves with Rhys, Cai cannot resist adding, “When will you get the message? Ffion’s looking for a man who can give her what she wants – and you can’t do that!”
![]() |
"I'm working this afternoon and tonight" |
Jaclyn arrives behind the bar and Jinx asks if she has any plans today; “I’m working this afternoon and tonight,” she answers.
![]() |
"How about doing something for an hour . . ?" |
He wonders if she fancies doing something in an hour, and she enquires where he proposes going.
![]() |
"Your place – some wine" |
“Your place – some wine,” he suggests, and she likes the sound of that.
![]() |

![]() |
"I forgot all about you, Huwi" |
As she heads for the door, she turns and says, “Isn’t Mami silly? I forgot all about you – do you want to feed the dogs with me?”
![]() |
They go to feed the dogs |
and off they go.
![]() |
Cai is back from viewing the house |
Siôn brings Cai a cup of tea and is told that they went to see a place just outside Cwmderi; “It was all right, but I’d like to see a few more places before deciding.”
![]() |
"There's a from for everything" |
He is already completing paperwork for the job, complaining that there is a form for everything.
![]() |
"I might have finished it by September" |
He might have finished it all by the time he starts in September.
![]() |
Siôn is full of praise for him |
Siôn is proud of him, “You’re a deputy, a good husband to Nesta and a proud father.” Cai admits that he has not been a good brother-in-law,
![]() |
"I'll make it up to you, Siôn" |
but now that he is there permanently, he will make up for it. “You, Nesta and the children will be welcome in Cwmderi,” Siôn assures him.
![]() |
Jinx prepares to go to Jaclyn's |
Jinx has been smartening himself up,
![]() |
"Going anywhere nice?" |
and Ffion asks, “Going anywhere nice?” He replies that he is going to see Jaclyn.
![]() |
"I though you had decided to put the brakes on things" |
“I thought you and her decided to put the brakes on things,” responds Ffion, and he says that things have changed.
![]() |
"I don't want you to get hurt" |
“Are you sure this is wise?” she demands, “I just don’t want you to get hurt.”
Jinx makes it quite clear that he is old enough to look after himself, and leaves the flat, remarking,
![]() |
"Don't wait up" |
“I’m not sure what time I’ll be back, so don’t wait up.”
![]() |
Ffion does not like this |
Ffion looks rather irked,
![]() |
She makes a phone call to . . . guess who? |
then makes a phone call.”
![]() |
Cai's laptop with its photo |
Cai is looking at his laptop, which bears a photo, presumably of his two daughters, when his phone sounds.
![]() |
"This is a nice surprise" |
“This is a nice surprise – I was wondering when you would phone,” he says, closing the laptop.
![]() |
Jinx is handed a glass of wine |
Jinx does not appear to be at ease as he sits on the sofa at number 10 and Jaclyn hands him a glass of wine.
![]() |
"Well, this is cosy" |
“Well, this is cosy,” she comments, “Is everything all right?” He gives the excuse that the morning has been rather hectic,
![]() |
Jaclyn becomes more amorous . . . |
and she maintains that she can help with that, as she moves closer to him.
Then her phone sounds, and Jinx seems keen for her to answer it;
![]() |
. . . but Jinx is saved by the phone |
“It might be important,” he says. She warns him not to move, and finds that the call is rather concerning;
![]() |
"Thanks for letting me know" |
“Right, thanks for letting me know,” she groans,
![]() |
It is obviously very bad news |
and is very upset.
![]() |
"Who was on the phone?" |
Jinx asks who it was,
![]() |
"A date for Dylan's plea hearing" |
and she tells him, “The police – they’ve had a date for my brother Dylan’s plea hearing – you know what he did. Don’t think everything in my life is as dramatic as this.”
![]() |
This is too much for Jinx and he makes a hasty exit |
Jinx suddenly comes up with the very unconvincing excuse that he just remembered he has a ‘Pizza Thing’ in Llanarthur tonight and needs to get stuff. “We can do this some other time – yeah?” he tells Jaclyn and makies a quick exit,
![]() |
Jaclyn is left all alone |
leaving her in a disturbed state.
![]() |
Sioned is at APD |
Sioned is making enquiries at APD and is told by Mathew, “I’ll need to see the place, and if it’s as bad as you say, I’ll have to put in a damp proof course – which can cost thousands.
![]() |
"I'll take a look at it this afternoon" |
“But it might be a case of patching up the render – I’ll take a look at it this afternoon and then I’ll put everything in an e-mail for you.”
![]() |
Sioned gives him the keys |
She gives him the keys to Deri Fawr and, on her way to the door, stops to add, “While you’re there, could you give us a quote for a new kitchen and bathroom?
![]() |
She also wants a new kitchen and bathroom |
“But do me a favour – put that quote in a separate e-mail.”
![]() |
Mathew finds this troubling |
Mathew looks at her suspiciously, but agrees to do as she says.
![]() |
"I though you had the rest of the day off" |
Jaclyn comes into the Deri and Cassie asks, “What are you doing here? I thought you had the rest of the day off.” Jaclyn explains that she was supposed to meet someone, but he cancelled, and that it is complicated.

"I knew it was coming, but it's still a shock" |
“I’ve just had one of those days, you know – the police phoned to give me the date of Dylan’s plea hearing. I knew it was coming, but it’s still a shock.
![]() |
"It's hard having to deal with this on my own" |
“He will plead not guilty – if it goes to court there’s less chance of him going to prison. It’s hard having to deal with things like this on my own – things were a lot easier when the family was here.”
![]() |
"They'll be back in a fortnight" |
Cassie tries to console her that Gerwyn and Guto will be back in a fortnight, and then everything will be all right.

Ffion has invited Cai for a meal; “Sorry it’s not much,” she apologises,
![]() |
"We can find something els to keep us going" |
but he suggestively indicates that they can find something else to keep them going.
![]() |
"And what might that be, then?" |
She smiles in anticipation,

![]() |
"You don't have to go, Jinx" |
She protests that he does not have to go,
![]() |
"I don't want to disturb you" |
but he does not want to disturb them and walks out of the flat.
“What’s going on between you two?” Cai demands,
![]() |
"Eat it before it gets cold" |
and Ffion assures him there is nothing, encouraging him to eat the meal before it gets cold, but she does look uncomfortable.
![]() |
Mathew is expecting visitors |
Mathew is preparing drinks and nibbles for the arrival of Colin and Gaynor; he offers them some wine, but they decline.
![]() |
"Why did you invite us here?" |
“I don’t want to sound rude, but why did you invite us here?” Gaynor asks.
He should have explained, and finds it rather difficult to begin;
![]() |
"I've met someone new" |
“The thing is . . . there’s no easy way to say this – I’ve met someone new.”
![]() |
Gaynor is glad . . . |
Gaynor is pleased to hear this, but Colin less so. “Are you sure you’re all right with this?” pleads Mathew.
Colin tries to pretend that he is, but without success.
![]() |
. . . and Mathew is very relieved |

![]() |
Colin is looking very uneasy" |

![]() |
Jinx arrives in the Deri |
Jinx comes into the Deri,
![]() |
"I thought you were working tonight" |
and Cassie diagnoses that he looks as if he could do with a drink; he orders a pint of cider. “I thought you were working tonight,” interrupts Jaclyn,
![]() |
"I arranged some cover" |
and he maintains that he has arranged cover,
![]() |
"If you was to come over to the house . . ." |
“Well, if you want to come over to the house, I’ve still got wine,” she encourages him, but he does not think that is a good idea. “Why not, if you’re not doing anything?” she goes on,
![]() |
"I just fancy being on my own" |
and he mutters that he just fancies being on his own.
![]() |
"Well, it was your idea to do something" |
“Well, it was your idea to do something today,”she grumbles.
Jinx snarls that he has just changed his mind, and Jaclyn wonders why he is being like this;
![]() |
"Without having deal with your baggage!" |
“Because I’ve had enough,” he growls, “I’ve got enough on my plate without having to deal with your baggage – Dylan, Gerwyn, Guto!”
![]() |

“Well, you don’t have to worry about Ger and Guts!” she shouts, “They’re not coming back! But this isn’t about that –
![]() |
"There's something else going on" |
“there’s something else going on.” Jinx informs her that it is nothing to do with her and urges Jaclyn to leave him alone, as he walks out of the Deri, presumably leaving behind his pint of cider
![]() |
