Eifion is sleepwalking again . . .

In the early hours of the morning, Eifion is sleepwalking once again, imagining that he is with Izzy.   “Please come back,” he says, “Oh no!”

. . . and knocks a glass off the counter

as he turns and knocks a glass from the counter, which smashes on the floor.

"Stop, Eifion!"

Mathew comes to investigate what is happening and shouts loudly to Eifion to stop,

He is in danger of lacerating his feet

upon which he suddenly wakes up.   Mathew is anxious that he should not walk on the broken glass, and Eifion wonders what is going on.   “You’re sleep-walking – you’re trying to help Izzy – these nightmares are getting worse!”

"Leave me alone!"

Eifion snarls at him, “Leave me alone!” and goes back to bed.

Mathew does not know what to do

Mathew is at a loss to know what to do.

Arwen has her picture in the paper

Out by the end of the alley, Mark is reading the Western Post, in particular the article about the pizza production business, illustrated with a photo of Arwen.

"How about some free coverage of the Deri and the garage?"

Kelly comes out of the shop after having bought a copy of the paper, and he says, “Oi!   How about some free coverage of the Deri and the garage?   Pizzas isn’t the only business here.”

"You'll get your turn, Mark"

She smilingly replies that he will get his turn, and he informs her that the big e-bike raffle is taking place later.

"D0 you know what?   I'm really busy"

“Do you know what?   I’m really busy,” she says,

"There's a celeb drawing the winning ticket"

and he points out that there is a celeb drawing the winning ticket – he cannot say who it is until the last minute.

“All right – I’ll cover it, but I get the exclusive with the celeb!” she insists,

he looks in the Western Post . . .

then opens the paper to see how her article looks;

. . . at her article

it is entitled, ‘The Owl and the Pizza Cut!’

She calls Jinx . . .

She takes out her phone and dials Jinx’s number;

. . . who is not pleased to hear from her

he is trying to juggle a pile of pizza boxes, and does not sound very pleased to hear Kelly’s voice.

“How did it go last night?” she asks,

"Sioned was not here, either!"

and he replies that it almost killed him, as Sioned was not there either.   He had to put orders in taxis on New Year’s Eve, and Kelly tells him that she is really sorry.

"Do you know who helped me?   Aaron!"

“Do you know who helped me?   Aaron!” he points out, “Yes, if it wasn’t for him, I would have had to close!”

"I'm sorry that I sulked, Jinx . . ."

Kelly says that she is sorry she sulked,

". . . but I've come up with a really good plan"

but has come up with a really good plan – and when she has made some food for Ifan, she will come to see him.

Jinx is not very impressed

He believes that she is avoiding him, but she assures him that she will speak to him soon.

"Can someone phone me back as soon as possible?"

As the next part of her plan, she makes another call;  “This is Kelly Evans, about the pizza company – can someone phone me back as soon as possible, please?”   She looks very pleased with herself.

Cassie can hear a dripping sound . . .

Cassie goes upstairs to the flat and hears a dripping sound;

. . . water coming through the ceiling

water is coming through the ceiling,

She puts a bowl under the drip . . .

so she immediately positions a bowl to catch it,

. . . and calls for assistance

and makes an urgent phone call.

"Why don't you open the shutters?"

Kelly walks past the garage and, on seeing the shutter door closed, tells Mark, “Yeah, nice photo opp – why don’t you open the shutters?”

"I can't be bothered, Kelly"

He complains that he cannot be bothered and is tired.   When she makes further enquiries about the celeb,

"You'll find out when everyone else does"

he stubbornly replies that she will find out when everyone else does.

She argues that she needs to prepare the right questions;  “Geraint Thomas – or someone from the Olympics?”   Mark says that famous celebrities are busy.   “Someone off the telly or the radio?” she continues,

"Mark – a tiny clue, like?"

“Mark – a clue – a tiny clue, like?” but he angrily instructs her to wait for the raffle like everyone else.

A team from APD is soon on the scene

Mathew and Eifion from APD are quickly on the scene in the Deri flat to effect a repair on the ceiling;

"It's supposed to be my day off!"

Eifion is, as usual, moaning, “It’s supposed to be my day off!”   Mathew says he will pay double, in cash, and Eifion warns that he is going out tonight.

Iolo has already repaired the tank

Iolo comes in to advise them he has sorted out the problem in the loft;  “The tank was leaking – but with some plasterboard and paint, it will be fine.    The stopcock is behind the sink.”

Eifion intends to go back to the flat

Eifion decides that he is going, intending to get a coffee and then go back to flat, but is stopped by Mathew.

"We could talk while we work"

“I was thinking that we could talk while we work,” Mathew suggests, “Come on, Eifion, we need to sort these nightmares out.”

"Where does Dani keep her coffee?"

Again Eifion insists that there is nothing to sort out, and wonders where Dani keeps her coffee.

"You're obviously dreaming about Izzy"

“You’re obviously dreaming about Izzy – you were trying to help her.   It was as if she was standing in front of you – please, talk to me.”

Eifion does not want to talk — or to work

Instead of doing so, Eifion goes out to get some coffee.

"Kelly's at the big raffle"

Jinx arrives at Bryntirion to be told that Kelly is out at the big raffle in the village;  “Don’t you see enough of her with the pizzas?” asks Jason.

"I had 63 orders last night!"

He is told that the problem was Jinx was on his own last night and had 63 orders.

Jason has the impression that things did not go well;

"Sioned and Kelly only help when it suits them"

“Sioned and Kelly only help when it suits them,” Jinx points out, “And with all the negative comments on the website, I’ve had enough!”

Jason has appreciated Kelly having something else to talk about, rather than Mickey Phillips all the time;

"I don't see Kelly at all now"

“The problem is, I don’t see her at all now – these pizzas are a lot of work, aren’t they?   Well, you know what they say – if you’re unhappy with your work, don’t do it.”   Jinx was not aware of that saying.

“You don’t want to make yourself ill, do you?   It was a bit of fun, wasn’t it?” Jason continues, and Jinx makes the decision that he is going to stop it.

"Celebrate a new start"

“Do you fancy a can to celebrate the New Year?” Jason asks him as he opens the fridge;  “To celebrate a new start.”

Eifion is back with two coffees

Mathew is measuring up the plasterboard when Eifion returns with two coffees.

"You could have been badly hurt last night"

“About last night,” Mathew begins, “You could have been badly hurt.   Why are you dreaming about Izzy?”   Eifion would rather not answer that, as he does not want to upset his cousin.

"Look, my girlfriend is dead . . ."

“Look, my girlfriend is dead – nothing you say can be worse than that,” groans Mathew.   Eifion explains that he and Izzy start off talking – or walking, like they did when they were together.

"We kiss sometimes – and not just kiss"

“We kiss sometimes – and not just kiss – there, I knew you’d be upset,” he continues, but Mathew tells him to carry on.

"She's a body – I don't know what to do"

“Then Izzy falls – she’s a body – I don’t know what to do.”   Mathew appreciates that it must have been terrible when he found Izzy.

"It's awful having to relive it every night!"

“It’s awful having to relive it every night as well!” Eifion admits.

"You're grieving for Izzy"

“You’re grieving for Izzy – you’ve got as much right to do that as I have,” Mathew tells him,

"I don't know how you can cope"

and Eifion does not know how his cousin can cope.

"Sometimes I can't"

“Sometimes I can’t,” he confesses, “But talking helps – you can talk to me whenever you want, Eifion, especially about Izzy, because we don’t want to forget her, do we?

"You go, and I'll tidy up in here"

“Listen – you go, and I’ll tidy up in here.”   Eifion thanks him for listening.

Mark is having microphone problems

The grand raffle, which seems to be attended by very few people, is about to begin – at least it will when Mark can get the microphone to work.   He protests that Kelly is taking photos of him wrestling with it;

"Shall I take photos of the massive crowds?"

“Shall I take some photos of the massive crowds, or what?” she asks.

"Who's this celebrity, then?"

Iolo and Rhys are standing nearby and also demand to know who the celebrity is.   Kath is manning a stall with the cheap bubbly.

"You've all been waiting to see the celeb . . ."

“I’m sure you’ve all been waiting to see the celeb,” announces Mark,

". . . Mr Brynmor Richards"

“So I can introduce Mr Brynmor Richards!”   The onlookers do not regard him as a celebrity, but Mark enlightens them, “He is an ex-motorbike race champion!”

Eifion asks, “Where?   Brynawelon?”  [the local old people’s home]

"He won the London to Wolverhampton race"

Mark goes on to point out that Brynmor won the famous high-profile London to Wolverhampton race in the 60s.

"It's a huge pleasure to be part of this"

Brynmor steps up to the microphone;   “It’s a huge pleasure to be part of this occasion today – there’s food and drink over there.

"This e-bike worth £1,000"

“Now, who’s going to win this e-bike worth £1,000 in the Cwmderi garage’s big New Year raffle?

Kath has her ticket

“Have you got your tickets?”

He delves into the bucket and comes up with the winning ticket,

"Er . . . Mrs Kathleen Jones"

which he announces, somewhat self-consciously;  “Mrs Kathleen Jones.”   It is widely suspected that this result is a ‘fix’, although Mark is adamant that everything was above board,

"I paid for my ticket like everyone else!"

and Kath makes it clear that she paid for her ticket like everyone else.

Eifion is off clubbing in Swansea

The sparse crowd disperses, Rhys to the gym, and Eifion says that he is going to Swansea tonight.

"The takings are up, Mark"

Cassie reports to Mark that the takings are up;  “The pies and cheap bubbles are selling – how did the raffle go?”

Mark replies that it has made a £300 profit, and is told that he can inform Garry next week;  “He’s being released!

He learns that Garry will soon be back

“You can share your success with him.”

"Thanks for getting us a table, Cassie"

In the Deri, Cassie has heard that Tesni and her mother had a nice lunch;  “It was lovely – thanks for the idea and for getting us a table,” Tesni replies.

"It pays to have contacts sometimes"

Cassie says that it pays to have contacts sometimes, and she is glad that the two of them are friends again.

"I think she's much happier now"

“I think she’s much happier now,” adds Tesni, just as Jaclyn comes in, moaning with frustration.

However Jaclyn does not sound very happy

“Have you seen these?” she exclaims, showing them one of the pork pies from Kath’s stall outside, “Rubbish from the cash-and-carry – I hope no-one thinks I made them!”

"Mark's cutting corners again"

Cassie comments that perhaps she is not happier now, and blames Mark for cutting corners again.

Mathew comes downstairs and reports to Cassie that the water is back on

"I'll be back when it's dried out"

and he will be back to finish the job when things have dried out.   She offers him a drink on the house.

"I'm going to enjoy myself tonight!"

Eifion comes in, looking very smart and is determined that he is going to enjoy himself tonight.

"Why don't you come with me?"

“Why don’t you come with me?   You could do with some fun,” says Eifion, but Mathew is not doing that;  he is tired after spending the night on the sofa.   “You don’t have to do that any more,” Eifion insists,

"I'll give it a couple more nights"

but Mathew will give it a couple more nights, just in case.

"You are all right after what I said?"

“You are all right, aren’t you, after what I said about Izzy?” Eifion asks, and Mathew stresses that he meant what he said about talking.   They hope that they can both move on now.

Kelly has some brilliant news

Kelly arrives back at Bryntirion and is told by Jason that Jinx is there, but is in the toilet at the moment;  “Good – because I’ve got brilliant news about the pizzas!” she squeals.

"I don't think Jinx will welcome that"

Jason does not think that Jinx will welcome that, and when he comes downstairs to be told,

"Pop-up confirmed in the old Cwm Delhi!"

“Pop-up confirmed in the old Cwm Delhi for three months,” he is very surprised.   “Yeah – deposit paid out of my account – but I shall get it back!   Who wants some sparkling?” she goes on.

"I'm not sure I want to carry on with it"

Jinx tells her to hang on, as he is not sure that he wants to carry on with the pizzas, after last night.

"That was my fault – and I'm sorry"

“But that was my fault – and I’m sorry – well, and Sioned,” she points out.   Jinx says that it is too much for him –

"Jason agrees with me"

and he adds that Jason has agreed.

"That's not exactly what I said"

Jason explains that is not exactly true;  he said that it was a lot of work and Jinx did not want to make himself ill.   Jinx still maintains that it does not make him happy.

"Premises, rota, proper shifts"

“Premises, Jinx, OK?   A rota, proper shifts – it’s a golden opportunity for you,” Kelly emphasises, “No-one does shifts on their own, by the way – and a policy of no social media!”

"The circumstances are completely different"

Jason urges him to try it, as the circumstances now are completely different.

"OK, fine, for three months"

“Rotas, fair shifts and plenty of help?” asks Jinx, “OK, fine, for three months – when do we start?”

"I'll get some glasses"

Kelly shrieks with excitement, and Jason will get some glasses for the bubbles.

Brynmor does not look very happy

Brynmor is looking rather depressed when Mark comes back to Maes-y-Deri;

Kath is working out how to make some money

Kath has been doing some research, and maintains that they can get £800 by selling the bike.   Mark insists that she cannot do that, but she flatly refuses to ride it.   “Perhaps Brynmor might want it,” Mark suggests,

"Only softies ride bikes with pedals"

but he sneers that only softies ride bikes with pedals.

"And we made a profit"

Mark is pleased that the occasion was a big success;  “A lot of attention for the Deri and the garage – and we made a profit.    Garry Monk will be back next week to thank me!”

A troubling phone call from Rhys

Then his phone sounds;  it is Rhys, giving him some disturbing news.

Mathew arrives in the woods again . . .

In the woods, Mathew arrives at the same spot, this time carrying some flowers,

. . . with a floral tribute

which he carefully places at the foot of the tree

"Love you"

and whispers, “Love you.”

The garage has been denuded of its bikes

In the garage, which is completely empty, Mark cannot believe what he is seeing;  Brynmor asks exactly what Rhys said on the phone.   “He said he was on way home and the door was open.”

"That's totally shameless!"

Brynmor regards this as totally shameless, saying that Mark should phone the police immediately.

“I can’t, can I?” wails Mark, “The door was open, and it’s my fault –

"No police – no insurance - no hope!

“no police – no insurance – no hope!   There were eight of the things in here.”   Brynmor recalls that he said Garry was out next week;  “Oh, I’m in so much trouble!” Mark groans,

"Have you thought of emigrating?"

and Brynmor wonders if he has thought of emigrating.

"What on earth am I going to do?"

Mark snaps, “It’s not funny – right?   What on earth am I going to do?”

"What's that I can hear?"

That night, at the shop flat, Mathew hears talking and giggling during the night, and suspects that Eifion is having another nightmare.

He goes to investigate

He thinks that it is wise to investigate,

"Eifion, are you all right/'

but upon opening the bedroom door,

"I've got company – do you mind?"

is abruptly told, “I’ve got company – do you mind?”

"Oh – sorry!"

and Mathew retires immediately.

The laughing continues

The laughing continues,

Eifion's companion is not revealed

but we are not permitted to see who is with Eifion under the duvet.
