Gaynor is studying her laptop

Gaynor is staring at her laptop when Hywel comes downstairs;  “Hywel,” she says, breathlessly,

"They've found my Mam!"

“I’ve just received an e-mail from that private detective – they’ve found her – they’ve found my Mam!   She’s fine, living in a care home near Wrexham, and there are the contact details here.”

"Are you going to get in touch with her?"

He replies that it is fantastic news and asks if Gaynor is going to get in touch with her.   Her face falls and she is not sure whether to do so;

"She's a strangers"

“She’s a stranger, isn’t she?”   Hywel suggests that she could start by sending her mother a letter.

"Come for a walk with me"

“Look, come for a walk with me, and we’ll discuss it properly,” he says, “I’ll just go and look for my walking boots.”

Gaynor does not know what to to

Gaynor appears very confused.

Tyler gets back to number 7 and is glad to find that Iolo is there;

"We're going out with Eifion!"

“As you’ve got the afternoon off, we’re going for a session with Eifion,” he announces, much to Iolo’s dismay.   “Go and get changed straight away!”

Iolo protests, “No – I want to chill this afternoon, not go out clubbing!”   Tyler emphasises that Eifion is looking forward to it,

"You've forgotten one thing!"

and Iolo snarls, “You’ve forgotten one important thing here – we’ve got a child.”

"I've texted Dani to babysit Greta"

Tyler has already thought of that and has texted Dani to ask her to babysit Greta.

At that moment there is a knock at the back door and Kelly comes in,

"What if Dani can't do it?"

as Iolo is demanding, “What if Dani can’t do it?”     Tyler is confident that they can find somewhere else, such as Kelly.

"What do you want now?"

“How do you fancy doing us a massive favour and babysitting Greta until tomorrow morning?” he asks.   Kelly is under the impression this is a ‘date night’, but is told,

"We're taking Eifion to Swansea"

“Not quite – we’re taking Eifion to some LGBTQ places in Swansea.”

"Can't he do that by himself?"

“Oh – can’t he do that by himself, like a proper grown-up?” she asks, but Tyler maintains that Eifion is finding it hard to meet new people, and he is just trying to help.   He thanks Kelly for her help, even though she protests that she has not said that she will help, and disappears upstairs for a shower.

"What am I ging to do, Kel?"

Iolo whines, “What am I going to do, Kel?   I can’t carry on pretending everything is all right.”   He is instructed to tell Tyler that he does not want to go;

"What if they have a heart?"

“And leave him with Eifion?   What if they have a heart to heart?”

"I can't tell you what to do, Iol"

Kelly says that she has told him what she thinks, but cannot tell him what to do.

"Which should I wear?"

Eifion asks Mathew which shirt he should wear;  “Well, it depends whether you’re going to a funeral or a circus,” is the reply,

"Tell me where you're going"

“Tell me where you’re going, then I’ll advise you on your fashion choices.”

"We're going to Swansea"

“We’re going to Swansea – a few bars, perhaps a club – me, Iolo and Tyler.”   Mathew realises that is why he wanted a day off;

"Trying your luck with Iolo again?"

he is going to try his luck with Iolo again.

"I've never had a group of gay friends before"

“We’re friends, that’s all – I’ve never had a group of gay friends before,” explains Eifion, “Nothing against you, but it’s different to being with people who understand you – who have had similar experiences.   I really need this – don’t worry about your cousin, please.”

"I'm sure you wore the other one last time"

Mathew recommends that he wears the top shirt, sarcastically remarking,  “I’m sure you wore the other one the last time you were in Swansea with Iolo!”

"I can't find those boots anywhere"

Hywel comes back downstairs, commenting that he cannot find his walking boots anywhere,

There is no sign of Gaynor . . .

but there is no sign of Gaynor;

. . . and he cannot understand it

he cannot understand where she has gone

Iolo is in his usual disturbed state

Iolo is sitting, fiddling with a rubber band and looking very troubled;  Tyler returns from his shower;

"Eifion will be here any second"

“Iol, please – Eifion will be here any second.

"I slept wit Eifion!"

“Ty, you have to listen to me,” Iolo begins, “I slept with Eifion!”   Tyler laughs,

"I almost believed you there, Iol!"

and admits that he almost believed him there, then urges him to get changed.

"It's true, Ty!"

“It’s true,” Iolo insists.

"Thanks for the tea, Dani"

Wilko has had a cup of tea with Dani, and she wonders if he will be coming back later,

"It's your turn to pick a film"

as it is his turn to pick a film.   He says that he is working a late shift, but adds that these shifts will end soon and he will have more time.

"I'll tell Tyler I can babysit"

“Right, I can text Tyler to say that I can babysit,” she replies, and Wilko wonders where he is going.   “Clubbing in Swansea, I think –

"I'll be in my onesie by seven"

“I’ll be in my onesie by 7:00pm, watching rubbish on telly.”

He comments that it sounds good to him, but she groans, “Perhaps I should text Elinor to babysit, so I can join them.

"It's safer on the sofa"

He points out that it is safer on the sofa, and she laughs, “Thanks, Grandad!”

“If you’d seen half the things I have, you wouldn’t go out again,” he says,

"I can handle myself"

but Dani insists that she can handle herself.   “If I had a pound for every time someone said that, and ended up in hospital,” he rather chillingly comments, then adds that he does not want to scare her.

"I shall be on that sofa for the foreseeable future"

“I can assure you that I shall be on the sofa tonight – and for the foreseeable future,” she tells him, “Go on, and save the world!”

"You'd never do anything like that!"

“Come on, Iol,” says Tyler “You’d never do anything like that!” says Tyler,

"I didn't think so either"

and Iolo did not think so either.   Tyler wants to know when and where this happened.

"We bumped into each other in this club"

“I was out in Swansea and we bumped into each other in this club.   Ty, I regret it so much!”   Tyler cannot believe this – especially that it was Eifion, of all people.

"You don't even like Eifion"

He points out that Iolo does not even like Eifion, and would find any excuse not to be with him.

"When you 'slept on the sofa', was it?"

“The night that you ‘slept on the sofa’, was it?” Tyler demands.   Iolo whimpers that he is not trying to justify it,

"I was still angry about Aled!"

but was still angry about Aled.

"We've moved on from that!"

“That was ages ago – we’ve moved on from that, we agreed!”

“We agreed to forgive, but not to forget,” Iolo stresses, and Tyler wonders if there has been anyone else.

"Ryan – nothing happened"

“Ryan – nothing happened, but I had feelings – I don’t know,” Iolo admits.

"Anything else you want to tell me?"

“Is there anything else you want to tell me?” shouts Tyler, “Any friends with benefits or a Grindr profile?   This is your fault, not mine!”

"I want to work on our relationship"

Iolo insists that he wants to fix this – to work on their relationship.

"What relationship?"

“Relationship – what relationship?” Tyler roars and storms out of the house.

With a face like thunder he heads along the street, but he notices Eifion coming out of the door of the shop flat.

Hywel is in search of Gaynor

Hywel is searching for Gaynor, but Eifion has not seen her;  “You’re the one married to her – have you tried phoning her?” he asks, but apparently her phone is turned off.

Tyler approaches Eifion

Tyler marches across the road to confront Eifion, who enquires whether Iolo is ready yet.

"Why don't we go out –just you and me?"

“Why don’t we go out tonight – just you and me?” Tyler suggests, “We’ll have a bit of fun.”

"Is Iolo not well?"

Eifion presumes that Iolo is unwell, but Tyler insists, “No, he’s fine –

"We're going to forget about Iol!"

“we’re going to forget about Iol – we’re going to have fun.   What’s the problem, Eifion?” as he sees his puzzled look.

"I don't feel that way about you"

Eifion admits that he does not feel that way about Tyler, who snarls, “But you do feel that way about my husband!”   Once more Eifion claims that they are just friends.   “Why did you sleep with him, then?” is Tyler’s next question,

"It's not like you to be speechless"

“That’s funny – it’s not like you to be speechless, is it, Eifion?”

"Tyler, I'm really sorry"

As he walks away, Eifion says that he is really sorry.

Iolo is still trying to contact Tyler

There is a knock at the door, and Iolo is reluctant to answer it;  he finds to his dismay that it is Eifion,

"Why did you tell him?"

who asks, “Why did you tell him?   You didn’t have to do that.”

Iolo wails that he could not live with the guilt;  “I don’t want lies being part of our relationship.”

"I can't get hold of Tyler"

He has been trying to contact Tyler without success.

"It wasn't awful, was it?"

Eifion says that he was too drunk to remember much about it, but from what he can remember, it was not awful;  “Perhaps Tyler isn’t the right man for you – I hate the fact we’ve hurt him,

"You've been on my mind a lot"

“but I can’t deny that you’ve been on my mind a lot.   Look, I’m in my 40s and I’ve never had a serious relationship with a man – not like I’ve had with women.   I’ve never let myself think of a man like that – I think I’m ready.”

"Why are you telling me this?"

Iolo wonders why he is being told all this;  “I think I’d like a relationship with you,” replies Eifion,

Now Iolo is lost for words

and Iolo does not know what to say.

Tyler rejects another call

In the Deri flat, Tyler’s mobile rings again and once again he rejects the call;  Dani thought that he would have left by now, but he asks if he can stay there for a few nights..

"Iolo slept with Eifion!"

“It turns out that Iolo’s not whiter than white – he slept with someone else – Eifion!

"Eifion!"

“But it’s not the who I’m worried about at the moment!”   He will take the Deri’s spare key and tells Dani that he is supposed to be on a session in Swansea;

"That's exactly where I'm going!"

“That’s exactly where I’m going!”   He will not listen to Dani’s protests.

Gaynor sits in her car . . .

Gaynor is sitting in her car outside a large building

. . . outside Plas Clywedog . . .

bearing the sign ‘Plas Clywedog’;

. . . and considers her options

she gets out and looks nervously around her.

"There's obviously something between us"

At number seven, Eifion begs Iolo to listen to him for moment;  “There’s obviously something between us – or we wouldn’t have ended up in bed together.”

"It was a drunken mistake, Eifion!"

Iolo describes it as a drunken mistake, and he understands where Eifion is coming from;

"I was convinced I was in love with Andrew"

“When I ‘came out’ I was convinced I was in love with my mate, Andrew.   He was the only gay man that I knew and I persuaded myself I was in love with him – but I wasn’t.   We were friends – it happens to lots of men when they ‘come out’.”

Eifion wonders why Iolo will not even consider it, and the answer is, “Because I’m married.”

"That doesn't mean you love each other"

Eifion insists that does not mean they love each other, but Iolo makes it clear, “Yes it does – I love Tyler and I want to be with him.”

Eifion tries another approach;  “Do you think he’s good enough for you?”   Iolo vehemently confirms that he does,

"I'm fed up with people judging Tyler"

and that he is fed up with people in this village judging him and making things more difficult for them.   He stresses that they have both made a mistake now.

Eifion still maintains that they should give it a try,

"It's not going to happen – I want to be with Tyler!"

but is told, “It’s not going to happen!   I’m sorry, but you’re not listening!   I want to be with Tyler!”

“He doesn’t love you,” Eifion alleges, and is reminded that he does not know what a relationship between two men is like, so he should just stay away.

Eifion finally leaves

He takes the hint and leaves the house.

"I've tried phoning you about ten time"

Hywel is now becoming very worried and as he goes back to Llwyncelyn, is still leaving messages for Gaynor;  “I’ve tried phoning you about ten times,” he says, “Please let me know that you’re safe!”

"Where have you been?"

Then he sees her sitting at the table;  “Where have you been?   I’ve been worried about you!”

"I went to Wrexham"

She replies that she has been to Wrexham, to the home, (at least a six hour round trip) but confesses that she did not go in.

"I need to write a letter first"

She acknowledges that he is right, and that she needs to write a letter to her mother first;  “To decide exactly what I want to tell her.”

"Please come home safely . . ."

Iolo is sitting on the stairs, tearfully leaving a phone message for Tyler;  “I don’t know where you are – I just wanted to say please come home safely, so we can talk – not tonight, but tomorrow, perhaps.

". . . please, Ty!"

“Please Ty.”

Gaynor thinks . . .

Gaynor sips another glass of wine, then fetches a writing pad from the drawer;

. . . then makes a start on the letter

she begins to write, ‘Dear Mam,’ then pauses to think.

Daylight in streaming in through the kitchen window . . .

The DI is yawning when he finishes his exhausting shift, but goes straight into the kitchen and opens his laptop to see what is happening next door.

. . . as something on the laptop catches his attention . . .

He sees something which interests him;

. . . but it appears to be very dark in the Deri

there is someone creeping around in the Deri bar, so he rushes out of the house.

The door has been left unlocked again

He enters the Deri, which cannot have been locked,

All that training with the punchbag comes in useful

and attacks the intruder,

The 'victim's-eye view' of the DI

who falls to the floor.

The scene is recorded

This is of course all captured by camera 2, recently placed there by the DI,

The very conspicuous camera is removed . . .

who reaches up to the high shelf where it is quite conspicuously placed,

. . . and taken away b Wilko

and takes it away with him.

The motionless figure i left on the floor

He leaves the motionless figure and returns to his house.
