Howard has had his breakfast |
Howard is clearing up after his breakfast, presumably of ASDA honey nut cornflakes, when Sioned comes in, still clad in her dressing gown.
![]() |
"What have you done with Howard?" |
“Who are you and what have you done with Howard?” she asks.
![]() |
"You said I need to help you more" |
“You said I need to help you more,” he cheerfully replies and she is very impressed as he informs her, “There is coffee in that coffee thing, too.” She gathers from his cheerful mood that his date went well;
![]() |
"Yes, I had a lovely night" |
“Yes, I had a lovely night,” he tells her and she is very pleased.
Then he realises that he has to go,
![]() |
"Tell me more" |
although Sioned is anxious to hear more details;
![]() |
"We have to finish the office" |
“We’ve so much work to do to finish this office – it’s not the best time for Mathew to go on a health and safety course.”
![]() |
"It will do him good" |
Sioned is sure that it will do him good to have a break
![]() |
"Are you two all right now?" |
and Howard cautiously enquires whether the two of them are all right now. She agrees that they are and he leaves, complete with his bunch of flowers.
![]() |
Sioned takes her phone |
She immediately picks up her phone and dials Mathew’s number;
![]() |
"I miss you, Math" |
“Hey, Math, it’s me – I know you’re busy, but give me a bell when you get a chance – I miss you.”
![]() |
Ieuan is struggling into overalls |
Ieuan is pulling on his overalls, which Howard finds amusing when he arrives; “I’m going to help you finish the Quantum Hydro Works office,” Ieuan insists.
![]() |
"You're not a labourer" |
It is pointed out that he is not a labourer, but he replies that it is a case of, “All hands on deck – be ready to work late tonight, please.”
Then Ieuan notices the bunch of flowers in Howard’s hand,
![]() |
"Well, reasonable" |
so it is explained that they are from the date; Ieuan asks how it went with Siwsi.
“Well, reasonable,” Howard begins,
![]() |
"You can tell me while we're working" |
but Ieuan says that he can tell him all the details while they are working.
![]() |
"So where is Siwsi?" |
“So where is Siwsi?” Howard demands and is told that she phoned
![]() |
"Anita is covering for her" |
and apparently her grandmother is ill; Anita is going to cover for her.
![]() |
"Perhaps I should phone Siwsi" |
Howard is concerned and thinks that perhaps he should phone her; he has already sent a few texts.
Ieuan is insistent that there is no time for that now and advises that Howard should not appear too keen.
![]() |
"Where's that phone?" |
Then he has difficulty finding his phone in the unfamiliar overalls and announces that Iolo is at last calling him.
![]() |
"Iolo, we need your help" |
“Listen, we need your help,” Ieuan tells him.
![]() |
"Greta is not feeling well" |
Iolo, at Y Felin, is sorry, but he cannot come over to finish the job this morning; “It’s the summer holidays and Greta is not feeling well.”
![]() |
"She's ill and I've got no-one to look after her" |
At that moment Dani arrives, as Iolo continues, “And Greta is important to me – she’s ill and I’ve got no-one to look after her.”
![]() |
"I'm bored!" |
Dani goes over to speak to Greta, who grumpily announces, “I’m bored!”
![]() |
"You know how these bugs go round" |
Iolo says that Dani knows very well how these bugs go round at this time of year.
![]() |
"I'm not ill – I want to go out!" |
Greta decisively informs him, “I’m not ill – I want to go out!”
![]() |
She storms off upstairs |
as she storms off upstairs.
Iolo explains, “She’s angry because she’s missing a trip to the beach with the club.”
![]() |
"Has she left the house since the carnival?" |
“OK, Iolo – I know I told you to keep an eye on her, but has she left the house since the carnival?” Dani enquires, “It’s the summer holidays.”
![]() |
"It's not safe" |
Iolo maintains that with ‘Liv’ out there, it is not safe.
![]() |
"Come on, Iolo" |
“But turning down work, stopping her going to the beach? Come on!”
“We haven’t seen ‘Liv’ since Greta was born and now she’s here, without warning – and no-one knows what she wants,” points out Iolo, “It would be irresponsible not to keep her home.”
![]() |
"I would only do this for you" |
Dani gets out her phone, telling him that she would only do this for him, and makes a call.
![]() |
Howard is definitely worried |
Howard is sitting outside the office site, anxiously looking at his phone; Ieuan emerges from inside, speaking to Hywel on his phone; “Yes, I understand that, but the thing is, Hywel . . .”
![]() |
"You need the patience of a saint" |
It appears that Hywel has terminated the call, causing Ieuan to complain, “You need the patience of a saint with Hywel! If he’s so worried about getting this place ready, he should be here helping us!”
Howard is still staring at his phone and is told that he is not helping by being out there.
![]() |
"Should I be worried about not hearing from her?" |
Should I be worried about not hearing from Siwsi?” he asks and is told that her grandmother is ill
![]() |
"You should give her a chance, Howard" |
and that he should give her a chance.
In the background, one of the villagers is trying to peer into the office,
![]() |
"It will be opening tomorrow" |
so Ieuan tells him that it will be opening tomorrow, when there will be a big party with food and drink. Then he returns to Howard,
![]() |
"Less texting and more labouring" |
instructing him, “Less texting and more labouring –
![]() |
They go back inside |
“come on!”
![]() |
Gaynor comes out of the shop |
Gaynor comes out of the shop with an arm full of brochures, meeting Kelly by the alley. “You’ve got some reading to do there.”
![]() |
"I'm getting some ideas" |
Gaynor explains that she is starting to get some ideas about the wedding,
![]() |
She exhibits her ring |
showing off her ring. She wants something simple, but the more she looks into it, the more her head spins.
![]() |
"You've got an eye, haven't you?" |
“You’ve got an eye for things that are a little bit different, haven’t you?” Gaynor adds – and at that moment Ffion happens to be passing the other end of the alley. “I wanted the wedding to have a traditional feel, but also to be a bit quirky at the same time – you might be the perfect person to help me.”
![]() |
Ffion listens to them . . . |
Ffion listens for a few moments,
![]() |
. . . then walks away |
but then walks away,
![]() |
Kelly does not sound exactly keen |
as Kelly rather hesitantly agrees to assist her.
![]() |
"Can I come over to see you?" |
“Is it OK if I come to see you later?” Gaynor asks and Kelly wonders what she has let herself in for.
![]() |
The long phone call draws to a close |
Dani has been speaking to Wendy for some time, promising, “Yes, I’ll phone you again.”
![]() |
"I listened to her for an hour!" |
Then she enlightens Iolo, “An hour – I listened to her problems for an hour! She didn’t ask once how I was after Seren –
![]() |
"She hasn't seen 'Liv' since before Covid" |
“and she hasn’t seen ‘Liv’ since before Covid.”
![]() |
"I can't live like this!" |
Iolo has made his mind up, “I can’t live like this, keeping my daughter prisoner in her own home!
![]() |
"Can you look after her for an hour?" |
“Can you look after her for an hour? I’m going to speak to my solicitor –
![]() |
"There must be something I can do" |
“there must be something I can do to protect her.” He walks out of the house.
![]() |
Gaynor is researching . . . |
In the pharmacy, Gaynor is poring over one of the brochures,
![]() |
. . . but Tom's attention is elsewhere |
with Tom, beside her, looking very disinterested. “I feel like I’m the only one interested in this wedding,” she moans.
![]() |
"My head's all over the place with work" |
His excuse is that his head is all over the place with work.
“Well, at least Kelly has said she will help me,” she continues, but he does not look particularly keen on Kelly being involved,
![]() |
"You don't want it to look tacky" |
insisting that Gaynor does not want the wedding to look ‘tacky’.
![]() |
"You don't need anyone – except me" |
“You don’t need anyone to help you – apart from me.” Once more, Gaynor concedes that he may be right, but she has already asked Kelly. Tom is sure, “You can handle Kelly –
![]() |
"It's what you and I want" |
“it’s what you and I want that’s important.” She is pleased to see that at last he is taking some interest in the wedding.
![]() |
"You're overthinking things now |
In the Deri, Sioned points out to Howard that he is overthinking things now; “But I never turn my phone off,” he stresses,
![]() |
"I can't understand why she's done that" |
“I can’t understand why she’s done that in the middle of the day.” Sioned maintains that there could be loads of reasons why her phone is off.
![]() |
"Is to because she doesn't like me?" |
“You don’t think it’s because she doesn’t like me?” Sioned accuses him of being paranoid now, because if she did not want to talk to him, she would just block him.
![]() |
"I might take the kids to the beach" |
Then she advises that she might take the kids to the beach this weekend and invites him to come with them.
![]() |
"I'd prefer to keep the weekend free" |
He would prefer to keep the weekend free, just in case Siwsi wants to do something. Meanwhile Kelly has been sitting nearby, listening.
![]() |
"Your half-hour break is over" |
Ieuan comes in to remind Howard that his half hour break is over and now he will take his break.
![]() |
"I'm sure Siwsi will be in touch" |
Sioned assures Howard that Siwsi will be in touch and that she will have a good reason.
![]() |
"All right, then?" |
Kelly anxiously approaches Ieuan, who says that he will feel better after having something to eat. She reveals that she is hiding from Gaynor,
![]() |
"How did Howard's date go?" |
then enquires after Howard and how his date went.
“Don’t talk about it – he’s stressed because she hasn’t texted back – but the poor dab is busy with her grandmother ill.”
![]() |
"She's not ill – and it's my fault . . ." |
“Yeah, she’s not ill – her grandmother – and it’s my fault,
![]() |
". . . because I've, like, put my foot right in it!" |
“because I’ve, like, put my foot right in it! I was here last night and I just, you know, sort of told Siwsi about my past with Howard –
![]() |
"Now I feel awful" |
“and now I feel awful and I don’t need that on my conscience on top of everything else.”
![]() |
"I'm possibly to blame as well" |
Ieuan assures her that she has done nothing wrong, admitting that he is possibly to blame as well; “I shouldn’t have advised him not to tell her.”
![]() |
"Should we give him a 'heads up or what?" |
Kelly wonders whether they should give him a ‘heads up’ or what?
![]() |
"We've done enough as it is" |
Ieuan is of the opinion that they have done enough as it is;
![]() |
"Let them sort it out in their own time" |
“Perhaps it would be best to let them sort it out themselves in their own time.”
![]() |
Dani and Greta are watching a film |
When Iolo comes back to Y Felin, Dani and Greta are watching a film and eating popcorn;
![]() |
"What's going on here, then?" |
he asks, “What’s going here on here, then?” Dani replies that they have made a cinema,
![]() |
"I'll bring you a sandwich" |
then tells Greta to go upstairs now because she wants a word with her father. Dani will bring her a sandwich in a few minutes.
![]() |
"So what did the solicitor say?" |
“So what did the solicitor say?” Dani demands
![]() |
"Have you been crying?" |
and he can see that she has been crying; she explains that it is ‘The Princess and the Frog’, which always gets her. “Seren’s favourite film – but it was nice to watch it with Greta – I needed a bit of girly time.
![]() |
"Come on, what did he say?" |
“So, come on, what did he say?”
![]() |
"Liv can't do anything to get her back" |
“Well, because I’ve adopted Greta, Liv can’t do anything to get her back.” Dani protests that they knew that already, and wonders if he should get a restraining order against Liv.
![]() |
"He thought it was a bit extreme" |
“Yes, he did mention it, but he thought it was a bit extreme at the moment.”
Dani points out that Iolo cannot be too careful,
![]() |
"You're making me nervous now, Dan" |
but now he says that she is making him nervous;
![]() |
"I don't want this family to lose another little girl" |
“I just don’t want this family to lose another little girl,” Dani explains.
![]() |
"What do you think of these place settings?" |
“What do you think of these place settings?” asks Gaynor and Tom is once more not very interested. She is of the opinion that they are too modern for them.
![]() |
Ffion arrives |
Then the door opens and Ffion arrives, asking for an orange juice. Gaynor calls to her, inviting her to come and join them,
![]() |
Tom is nervous . . . |
which disturbs Tom.
![]() |
. . . as Ffion does not want to disturb them |
Ffion replies that she does not want to disturb them,
![]() |
Gaynor is insistent |
but Gaynor is insistent, as is Tom, so she comes over.
![]() |
"I hope you're not overdoing things" |
Gaynor comments that she looks pale and hopes that she is not overdoing things;
![]() |
"Can you settle something for us?" |
she would also like Ffion to settle something for them, with regard to the place settings.
![]() |
"I'm sure Ffion has better things to do" |
“I’m sure Ffion has got better things to do than discuss place settings,” Tom reprimands her, but she thinks that Ffion has good taste; Tom smiles conspiratorially at Ffion,
![]() |
"It's up to you, isn't it?" |
who tries to keep out of the argument by saying the matter is up to them.
![]() |
Gaynor goes to get menus |
Gaynor will go and fetch some menus and while she is at the bar, Ffion picks up her bag
![]() |
"I'm not sitting here, listening to her" |
and informs Tom, “Sorry, I’m not sitting here listening to her going on about marrying you! You’re not the man I thought you were!
![]() |
"Why did you say yes when we were . . ?" |

![]() |
Ieuan makes a flask of tea |
In the kitchen of number 7, Ieuan is filling a flask with tea,
![]() |
"I can finish off over there" |
but Howard protests, “You’re exhausted – I can finish off over there.”
![]() |
"I don't want you there until the early hours" |
Ieuan replies that he promised Hywel and he does not want Howard there until the early hours. Besides that, he is now making a flask of tea for them.
![]() |
"You stay here, because you're in the way" |
Howard becomes rather more truthful; “Honestly – you stay here, because you’re in the way.” Ieuan just urges him to make sure that he gets paid for every minute he is there, then adds that if things do not work out with Siwsi, he should remember there are plenty of other girls in the world.
![]() |
"I don't want you to get your hopes up" |
“I don’t want you to get your hopes up after one date,” he goes on and insists that he will work one more hour over at the office, to keep Howard company.
![]() |
"Your company's much better than your painting!" |
Howard regards his company as much better than his painting.
![]() |
"I've got a surprise for you, Greta" |
Iolo has just had a pizza delivered and announces to Greta that he has a surprise for her;
![]() |
"Can we go out for food?" |

![]() |
"We need to have a chat about that" |
and he replies that he needs to have a chat with her about that.
![]() |
"Dad's been worrying a lot recently" |
“You’ve probably noticed that Dad’s been worrying a lot recently,” he begins, but she simply reiterates that they never go out for food. “There’s a good reason for that.
![]() |
"She's a dangerous woman" |
“Let me show you a photo – you see her? She’s a dangerous woman – and I want you to look at this photo carefully, because if she ever comes up to you, or tries to talk to you, or wants to take you somewhere,
![]() |
"I want you to run away somewhere safe" |
“I want you to say, ‘No!’ and I want you to run away somewhere safe – do you understand?”
![]() |
"Why?" |
“Why?” Greta demands; he tells her that he wants her to be safe, and asks if she promises, which she does.
![]() |
"Now you can have your pizza . . ." |

Sioned is surprised to see him back and had thought he would be working late tonight. He will indeed be going back after having eaten.
![]() |
"Have you heard from Siwsi?" |
She asks if he has heard from Siwsi; he says that he has not and cannot understand what went wrong. Then his phone sounds

![]() |
"Sorry, but I need time" |
he shows it to Sioned, who reads out, “Sorry, but I need time –

"Is Arwen still out?" |
he asks whether Arwen is still out and she tells him that it is none of his business.
![]() |
"I don't want you here, Tom!" |
“What are you doing? I don’t want you here, Tom – you’ve made your choice!”
![]() |
"What did you expect me to do?" |
“I didn’t have any option – what did you expect me to do? Turn her down in front of everyone?”
![]() |
"That's exactly what she did to you!" |
Ffion reminds him that is exactly what Gaynor did to him.
![]() |
"Do you have any idea how embarrassing it was?" |
“Do you have any idea how embarrassing it was to sit in the Deri with you earlier?” she growls.
![]() |
"I'm desperate to make things right" |
“I know – and I’m desperate to make things right between us,” he maintains, as he holds her hands, “Of course I am. Look, I’d never want to do anything to hurt you, after all that’s happened – I just want you to be happy.”
![]() |
"Do you, honestly?" |
Ffion replies, “Do you – honestly?
![]() |
"You know what you have to do, then, don't you?" |
