The sign on Tamed is being taken down

Sioned, who is pushing the pram, is surprised to see, when she comes out of the alley, a workman removing the for sale sign from Tamed.

"Has it been sold already?"

She hurries across and asks, “Has it been sold already?” but he shrugs his shoulders and walks away.

"That's positive news – nothing major"

Anita is back from her scan and Kelly maintains, “That’s positive news that nothing major was flagged in the scan – you know, no tumour, no stroke.”

"I'm going up for a nap"

Anita decides that she is going upstairs for a nap, but Kelly wants to get her a glass of water first.

"Stay positive, yeah?"

She advises, “Stay positive, yeah?  The scan is clear so the next steps are precautionary, really.”

"Just stop burying your head in the sand, Kelly"

“Just stop burying your head in the sand – it’s obvious that something isn't right and I just want this painful process to be over,’ says Anita,

Kelly is worried about her

as she goes upstairs.

"Have you seen Eleri today?"

In the Deri, DJ asks, “Have you seen Eleri today?   I might have the money for her.”   Jason wonders how that could be, but at that moment he receives a phone call.

"Ioan, how are you?"

“Ioan, how are you?   Yes of course I remember – how can we help you?”

DJ is concerned

DJ is looking very worried, as Jason continues, “Right, well, I'm sorry to hear that – I’m free now –

"I could pop over if you want"

“I could pop over if you want, if that suits you.   OK, great.”

"He's not happy with the work"

Jason tells DJ that Ioan is not happy with the work he did last week;  “I’ll have to go over there.”

"I have to go to Cefneithin"

DJ is very clear that he cannot go, reminding Jason of the job in Cefneithin.   “We can call in there on the way back,”Jason tells him, “What’s wrong with you?”   DJ is evidently not looking forward to this.

Kelly is heading to Tomos ac Ellis

Kelly comes out of number 7 just as Eleri emerges from the deli, remarking that she has a busy morning and they need to have a meeting.

"You know all that leave I cancelled . . ?"

“Yeah – you know all that leave I cancelled – well, I need some of it back,” says Kelly, but is informed that it is impossible.

"It's . . . her birthday"

Kelly explains that she needs to be with Auntie Neet, so Eleri wants to know what is wrong;  “It’s her birthday,” Kelly improvises on the spur of the moment and Eleri assumes that Griffiths will be with her.   “He’s working at APD all day.”

"I need dependable staff"

Eleri insists that she needs dependable staff, so Kelly does not know what to do,

"What are you doing today, Iolo?"

then sees Iolo across the road and asks what he is doing today.

"I've got a day off"

He answers that he has a day off today,

"Could you do me a massive favour?"

so she continues, “Could you do me a massive favour and just, like, check in with Auntie Neet?   You know, hang out with her and be your usual lovely self.”

He wonders if everything is all right

"Are you going to stay out there all day?"

and by now Eleri is in the doorway of the estate agents, demanding whether Kelly is going to stay out there all day.

"Phone me if there's any problem"

“Phone me if there’s any problem,” Kelly tells him and Eleri shouts that he should wish Anita a happy birthday.

She has not emigrated to Liverpool, then

In the pharmacy, we have our first glimpse of Maya since Megan’s birthday in October.   Gaynor remarks that the morning has flown by and it is nice to be busy.

"I've provided a stool for you, Gaynor"

Maya has provided a stool for Gaynor to sit on.

Tom arrives

Tom comes in and Maya immediately looks suspicious;  “How’s working girl coping with her first shift back?” he asks and Gaynor replies that she is lucky to have such a nice boss.

"Will she let you leave now with me?"

“Nice enough to let her leave now with me?” he enquires.

"I'll see you in an hour"

Maya expects to see her back in an hour, but Tom thought that Gaynor was only working in the morning

"I arranged for us to have lunch in Carmarthen"

and has arranged for them to have lunch in Carmarthen – the Tapas place that she was talking about.

He wonders whether Maya might be able to find someone else to work this afternoon,

"No!"

but she says no.   “It’s all right – I’ll see if I can rearrange it for tonight,” he tells Gaynor.

"We can have a panini in Tamed"

“And in the meantime, we can have a panini in Tamed,” she suggests,

"I'll see you in five minutes"

“I just need to finish here – I’ll see you in five minutes.”

Sioned discovers Eleri in the Deri, “Aren’t you ever in the office?” she snarls.

"The other one looks like Dai!"

“Ah, Sioned – and the babies – cute, especially the girl – the other one looks like Dai!”

This rather amuses Kelly

Kelly sits there, smirking, as Sioned demands why she was not informed that Tamed had been sold.

"The owner doesn't want to sell"

“Because it hasn’t – the owner doesn’t want to sell – you don’t own it – your mother’s name is on everything.   When she heard it was for sale, she was not happy – you’ve wasted a lot of our time, actually.”

"Mam said that I owned it!"

When Sioned stresses that her mother said that she owned it,

"Well, she was lying"

Eleri points out, “Your mother was lying, then.”   She then reveals to Sioned that Eileen is working through a third-party,

"Oh, right – Siôn!"

correctly identified by Sioned as Siôn,

"I couldn't comment"

but Eleri is unable to confirm that.

Sioned storms off

Sioned immediately leaves the Deri,

"This new estate that's being built"

while Eleri gets to the point of her meeting with Kelly;  “This new estate that's being built.”

"Maes-y-Deri mark 2"

“Maes-y-Deri 2.0?” Kelly guesses.   The early plans have just been received

"I want you to lead the project"

and Eleri has decided that she wants Kelly to lead the project, which comes as rather a surprise.

"You what?"

“You what?” gasps Kelly.

“I think that you should take the lead – congratulations!”   Kelly wants to know why

"It's an opportunity for you to develop"

and is told, “It’s an opportunity for you to develop.”

"Nothing to do with your recent public dramas?"

“Oh, wow!   Nothing to do with your recent public dramas, is it?” Kelly smiles, “You’re not exactly flavour of the month, are you?”   Eleri emphasises that this offer has nothing to do with her personal life, and neither does it concern Kelly.

Kelly takes a look

“So, are you going to take this opportunity or not?”   Kelly picks up the file to take a look.

"Do you have any plans to celebrate?"

Anita opens the door of number 7 and invites Iolo in;  “I heard that today was a big day,” he answers and presents her with some flowers, wondering whether she has any plans to celebrate.

"There's not much to celebrate, is there?"

“Well, there’s not much to celebrate, is there?” is her reply, “Who told you, anyway?”   When he says that it was Eleri, Anita is shocked,

"Everyone has a birthday"

but he reminds her that everyone has a birthday, so she wonders what exactly he has heard.

Howard has had his lunch . . .

At Penrhewl, where there still appears to be a lot of disorganisation, Howard is just finishing his lunch when Sioned comes back with the twins.

. . . when Sioned comes back . . .

She reports that they are sleeping soundly,

. . . and obviously something is wrong

but he can tell from her tone that there is something wrong.

"Mam's taken Tamed off the market!"

“Mam!   She’s taken Tamed off the market!   She’s deceived me – it says in the small print that she has the right to stop any sale – she’s still controlling me – even from prison!

"She makes me feel like a silly little girl!"

“She makes me feel like a silly little girl.”

"And you're not the only one!"

Howard assures her, “You’re not the only one – and I’m not even her daughter!”

"Sorry – you've got enough on your plate"

Then he tells her to forget about it as Sioned has enough on her plate.

"What were you saying about Mam?"

She is insistent that she wants to know what he was saying about her Mam.

"I kept having these nightmares"

“After she shot me, I didn’t sleep properly for weeks.   I kept having these nightmares – about your mother shooting me.   It happened time and time again – but you don’t want to hear about this.”

"Are you still having them?"

Sioned wants to know if he has still having these nightmares;  “Sometimes – they did stop for a while,

"Since the court case, they're back!

“but since the court case, they’re back.”

"You should talk to someone about this"

“Don’t you think you should talk to someone about this?” Sioned asks, “A counsellor or . . .”   Howard is opposed to this, but she diagnoses that he is suffering from trauma.

"God knows how much you've suffered!"

“I don’t know about that – if I’m suffering from trauma, God knows how much you’ve suffered over the years.   I’m going out now.”   Sioned shakes her head.

They arrive at Ioan's pub. . .

Jason and DJ arrive at Ioan’s pub,

. . . where the cleaner is at work

where someone is mopping the floor;

"All right, boys?"

then Ioan appears, “All right, boys?” he greets them, “Thanks for coming so quickly.”

Jason asks what is the problem and Ioan looks straight at DJ;

"Do you want me to tell him?"

“Do you want me to tell him, or . . ?

"He took something that belongs to me!"

He took something that belongs to me.”

"You didn't, DJ?"

Jason cannot believe this;  “You didn’t?”

"I don't know what he's talking about"

DJ bluffs that he does not know what Ioan is talking about.

"I want to back – today!"

“We can check the CCTV, if you want – I want it back, today!”

"OK, no problem at all"

Jason agrees that there will be no problem, as DJ can go and get it now.   He apologises profusely about what happened.

"Don't be long!"

He is sternly warned, “Don’t be long!” and the two of them hurry out of the pub.

"It was only today that I told them all the symptoms"

As she arranges the flowers in a vase, Anita is explaining, “It was only today I told them about all the symptoms.”   Iolo says that now they will have a better idea after the scan.

"Then the memory clinic"

“Yes, I hope so – then I’ll have an assessment in the memory clinic in the near future.

"Kelly shouldn't have sent you here"

“I’m sorry, Iolo – Kelly shouldn’t have sent you here in the first place.”

On the contrary, he replies, “No, I’m glad I’m here –

"Me and these blinking' birthday flowers!"

“me and these blinkin’ birthday flowers!”   Anita tells him that they have cheered her up – it is nice to have something colourful and positive in the house.

"I always feel more positive"

He agrees that he always feels more positive at the start of the year, a chance for new resolutions, to get a new hobby or another interest.

"I could teach you how to play chess"

“Perhaps you should try something – I could teach you how to play chess – that’s good for the mind, according to Dad,”

"Boring!"

but she simply regards it as boring.

"I've cooked more meals than Delia Smith!"

Then Iolo suggests cooking, but she strongly protests, “I’ve cooked more meals than Delia Smith, thank you very much!”

"How about music?"

His next idea is music and he is sure that learning to play an instrument is good for the brain.   Anita thinks that he may have hit on something there.

In the Deri, Eleri is trying to persuade Kelly, “Come on – you’d be great for the project!”

"Why don't you want to head it yourself?"

Kelly is quite aware of that, but just does not understand why Eleri does not want to head the project herself;  “I mean, the area’s biggest housing development for, like, years – and you don’t want to be involved.

"There's got to be a catch!"

“There’s got to be a catch!”

"Why don't you trust me?"

Eleri wonders why Kelly does not trust her;

"You've shown your true colours recently"

“Because you’ve shown your true colours recently – how could you do that to Dani?”

"Not jealous, are you?"

“What – are you jealous that he turned to me and not to you?”

"No, I'm not jealous"

Kelly simply laughs at that suggestion;  “OK, first of all, I’m not jealous – second of all, Jinx is just using you.   The fact you’ve forced me to work today is one thing, but this is a step too far.   So if you want to sell matchbox houses, you’ll have to do it yourself because . . .”

She takes a sip of wine

Here she takes a sip of wine

"I quit!"

and then finishes her sentence, “I quit!”   She gets up and walks out of the Deri, leaving Eleri rather disappointed.   On the way out she meets Tom in the doorway.

"I'm surprised to see you here"

He finds Maya sitting quietly, looking at a magazine;  “I’m surprised to see you here, as you’re so busy,” he remarks.   She asks if he and Gaynor enjoyed their Panini in the deli.

"I'm used to managing staff . . ."

“Yes, it was lovely,” he begins, then sits down opposite her; “I’m a businessman myself and I’m used to managing staff;  can I give you a tip?

". . . if you don't respect your staff . . ."

“The secret is to respect your staff – otherwise they get overworked, overtired –

". . . mistakes can happen"

“and that’s when mistakes happen.   That’s the last thing you want in a pharmacy!”

Maya does not appreciate this veiled threat

Maya does not say anything, so he gets up and leaves.

"One of the cows is going to have a calf tomorrow"

At the farmhouse, Sioned is busy on the laptop when Howard comes in, advising that one of the cows is going to have a calf tonight;  “I’ll keep an eye on her in case we need to phone the vet.”

"You can stay here tonight"

Sioned tells him that he can stay there tonight;  she will sort out the spare room for him.   “I’ve got something to tell you as well.

"I've booked two counselling sessions"

“I’ve just booked two sessions with a private counsellor – tomorrow.”

"I thought one would be enough for you"

He thought that one would be enough for her, but she points out that one is for him.

"No chance – I told you this morning!"

“No chance – I told you this morning!” he exclaims, but Sioned insists that he needs to talk about what happened.   He is opposed to this, but she is adamant that it will do him good.

"She'll just charge us a fortune!"

“How?   This counsellor won’t care about what’s worrying me – she’ll just charge us a fortune!”

"Mam is paying"

Sioned informs him that her mother is paying, but Howard insists, “If we are going to use your mother’s money, we should spend it on something decent!”

"Well, you can have the two hours, then!"

Sioned warns him that she is not cancelling, so he tells her she can have the two hours, in that case;  “I’m sure you’ll have plenty to tell her!”

Iolo is rigging up a keyboard

At number 7, Iolo plugs in the keyboard just as Kelly comes through the door;

"What's happening?"

she wants to know what is happening.   “Look, a keyboard!” Anita tells her,

"I can see that – but why?"

which Kelly can already see, but she wonders why.

“Iolo’s going to give me lessons – this is Eunice’s old one.”   Kelly was not aware that Iolo was Mozart,

"I learned when I was younger"

but he says that he learned when he was younger.

“What happened to not burying your head in the sand?” Kelly asks

"I'm trying to be positive here"

and Anita says that she is trying to be positive here;  surely Kelly is not angry with her about that.

"And I've left Tomos ac Ellis!"

She replies that she is sorry about that, but has had a long day, adding, “And I’ve left Tomos ac Ellis!”

"I haven't been there yet"

Jason wants to know what Ioan said, but DJ has not been there yet;  “I thought you could come with me,” he whines.   Jason forcibly points out to him that this is his mess

"Are the drugs in your bag"

“and asks whether the drugs are in his bag.

"I think you've been avoiding me!"

There is a knock at the door;  as expected, it is Eleri.   “I don’t know if I’m paranoid, but I think you’ve been avoiding me,” she tells them, “I gave you a few extra days to pay me last week.”

"So have you, from what I've heard!

excuse is that they have been busy;  “And so have you from what I’ve heard!” Jason sniggers.

"Where's my money?"

She shouts, “Where’s my money?”

"DJ is sorting it out today"

The reply is that DJ is sorting it out today,

"If the next payment is not on time . . ."

and they are cautioned, “If the next payment is not on time . . .”

"You'll get your money, Eleri"

She is assured by Jason that she will get the money, then marches out.

Howard is having another nightmare . . .

Howard is asleep on the sofa at Penrhewl, but appears to be suffering from another of his nightmares;

. . . and Sioned witnesses it

“No!” he shouts repeatedly, thrashing about, just as Sioned comes into the room.   As he wakes himself up, he kicks several items from the table and then realises what he has done.

She fetches some water

Sioned rushes to get him a glass of water.

“You have to speak to someone,” she concludes,

"You were kicking and screaming, Howard

but still he insists that he is fine.   “You were kicking and screaming,” she tells him, “An hour of your life, Howard – please – for me!”

"Just don't expect me to start crying"

“All right – just don’t expect me to start crying and talking about my childhood,” he responds.

"Those prawns were fabulous!"

Gaynor and Tom arrive back at Llwyncelyn after their evening out in Carmarthen;  “Well, those prawns were fabulous,” she says.   He says that she ate most of them and he did not get a chance to try them,

"We shall have to go there again"

so she suggests that they will have to go there again.

“I’ll book a table on your day off next time,” he decides

"I'd better go to bed now"

and Gaynor thinks that she had better go to bed now or she will be sleeping on the counter tomorrow.

Tom was just taking his jacket off

“Of course – you don’t want to upset the boss, do you?” he sneers,

"She's a bit strict, isn't she?"

“She’s a bit strict, isn’t she?   She wasn’t even willing to consider letting you leave early.”

"There wasn't any need"

Gaynor does not consider that there was any need to do so.

“She and I obviously have different ways of treating staff,” Tom continues,

"You don't have to taken any nonsense, you know"

“You don’t have to take any nonsense, you know,” then seems to think that he is interfering, stressing that he is just worried about her.

"It's nice that you're worried about me"

“You don’t have to apologise – it’s nice that you’re worried about me – but honestly, I’d better go to bed.”   He agrees that it is important that she gets a good nights sleep,

"You can dream about those prawns"

expecting that she will dream about those prawns.   He leaves the house

Gaynor looks quite satisfied

and Gaynor looks quite pleased with herself.

DJ is back at the pub

DJ is back at Ioan’s pub,

"You took your time"

where he is told that he took his time.  “I’m sorry about this – I’ve been a little bit short of money recently,

"I took it without thinking"

“so I took it without thinking.”

"You've brought it back now"

“You’ve brought it back now, that’s the important thing,” replies Ioan and DJ is anxious to go.

"I'll see you soon . . ."

“I’ll see you soon,” Ioan goes on,

". . . you stole from me!"

“You stole from me!”

DJ points out that he brought it back;

"What are you – naïve or stupid?"

“What are you – naïve or stupid?”

When DJ maintains that they are ‘all right’ now,

"We're far from being 'all right', mate!

he is informed, “We’re far from being ‘all right’, mate.   I’ll be in touch!”   DJ wonders what he has let himself in for here.
