Eleri prepares for work

Eleri is just applying her make-up when she hears the sound of her father coming upstairs;  he says, “I’ll re-create the Bahamas anywhere for you, Kath Jones.”

"Do you have to be so noisy?"

Kath replies that she will want palm trees and a cocktail bar.   Eleri complains that they are being so noisy.

Brynmor thought she would be at work by now as he hugs her

"I'km running a little late"

and she says that she is running a little late.

"Put the kettle on"

“Well, I will have a cup of tea first – put the kettle on,” Kath suggests, “While I go and run a bath.”

"You two are back on track, then?"

“You two are back on track then?” comments Eleri and her father tells her that life is too short to argue.   “I’m glad you’ve sorted things out,” Eleri adds, “Right, I have to go.”

"Everything all right with the business?"

He wonders how things are going with her;  “How have things been here?   Is everything all right with the business?”   He can see from her evasive reply that there is some problem, but she denies this.

"What's worrying you?"

“I’d say there is something worrying you – what is it?” he demands.

"Dani found out about us"

She reveals that Dani found out about her and Jinx – now everything is over between them.

Kath comes back in, looking for her cup of tea, but is told that the water has not boiled yet.

"I'll bring the tea when it's ready"

Brynmor instructs her to go in the bath and he will bring the tea when it is ready.   Eleri is happy to take this interruption as her cue to go,

"I want to talk to you, Eleri"

but her father wants to talk to her.

She walks out of the flat

She refuses and walks out of the door.

Anita is quite excited

Anita is being taken through her ‘five finger exercises’ on the keyboard under Iolo’s tuition;

"I was hoping for a lie-in"

Ieuan comes downstairs, complaining that the conservatoire has opened so early;  he is not scheduled to be at APD until this afternoon and was hoping for a lie-in.

Anita explains that Iolo has a client at 10 o’clock;

"Now I know why Kelly went for a jog"

Ieuan mutters, “Now I know why Kelly went for a jog first thing!”

Anita tries that exercise once again, although Ieuan would prefer the volume to be turned down.

"Buy a new keyboard for your wife"

Iolo has the idea that Ieuan could ask Matthew for a pay rise so that he can buy a new keyboard for his wife, but she insists that he should not bother as this one is fine.

Ieuan is pondering

She starts again, “One, two, three, thumb . . .” while Ieuan appears to be thinking about something.

Howard is  at work . . .

Howard is stacking the shelves in APD when Sioned comes in, looking for him;

. . . and Sioned is checking up on him

“I’m just checking that you’re still on for the therapy session.”

"Where are the kids, Sioned?"

Jinx follows her in and wonders where the kids are.

"So Howard and I can have some peace"

“With DJ, so Howard and I can have some peace later.”

Does Jinx suspect that there is something going on there?   He asks if his order has come in yet and Sioned suddenly realises, “You’re a counsellor, aren’t you?”

"I haven't done it for a while"

He replies that he has not done it for a while.

“You do think therapy is a good thing, don’t you?” she continues,

Howard wants to escape from this

but Howard is of the opinion that they should have this chat another time.   He will go and check out the back, but he does not think today’s delivery have arrived yet.   Jinx will come back later.

"I hope you're not avoiding the session"

“I hope you’re not staying here to avoid the session,” Sioned warns him.

"Don't worry – you've checked up on me now"

Howard, tell her not to worry, as she has checked up on him now.

"2:00pm, no later!"

“You have to be at Penrhewl by 2:00pm, no later!” she stipulates.

"All right, Eileen . . ."

“All right, Eileen!” he answers, much to Sioned’s disapproval,

". . . you don't have to be so pushy!"

“I’ll be there – you don’t have to be so pushy!”

Hywel has prepared breakfast

Hywel brings in breakfast, telling Cassie, “I thought you’d have a lie-in after the busy week you’ve had.”

She points out that she has so much to do with Kath on her way back;

"I don't want her to complain about anything"

“I don’t want her to complain about anything.   Are you hungry or something?” she asks, pointing at the two croissants and he says that he picked them up from Tamed for her.   “And what do you want?” she demands.

"I thought we could have breakfast together"

He simply maintains that he thought they could have breakfast together, but she is looking at her phone, describing it as nothing important.   She just does not want to anger Kath.   She takes one of the coffees and Hywel wonders when she will be back, so that he can make dinner.   She does not know yet when she will finish.

"Romantic continental breakfast!"

In the doorway she meets Ieuan, who is coming to see his brother;  “Oh yeah – romantic Continental breakfast for you and Cassie?”   Hywel wants to find out why he is there.

"Do you think I should sell Mami's house?"

“Brotherly advice,” is the reply, “Do you think I should sell Mami’s house?”

"Yes!"

Hywel has no doubts about that and quickly answers, “Yes!”

"I'm fed up with not being able to treat Anita'

Ieuan is fed up with not being able to treat Anita.   He would love to buy her a new keyboard or piano.   “You know how to spoil a woman, don’t you?” laughs Hywel.

“Selling Mami’s house would give me a fortune now Anita’s not leaving number 7.   She’s going through all the tests.”

"You don't want to put any more stress on her"

Hywel has doubts as to whether now is the best time to sell the house, as Ieuan does not want to put more stress on Anita.

Ieuan picks up an unattended croissant

Meanwhile Ieuan has picked up one of the croissants and bites into it, obviously quite impressed.

"Yeah, that's right, Dyff"

Cassie comes out of the Deri whilst speaking on the phone, “Yeah, that's right, Dyff.   That’s great – look, I’ll let you know one way or the other after talking to Kath.”

She sees that Kath is approaching

Then she sees a reflection in the window of Kath approaching along the street and warns Dyff to keep it to himself.

"It's still standing, then"

Kath looks up at the Deri and remarks, “It’s still standing, then.”

"Welcome back!"

Cassie welcomes her back.

Eleri has forgotten a file

Brynmor is reading the paper in Cysgod y Glyn when Eleri returns, having forgotten a file.   He tells her to hold on;

"What happened with Jinx?"

“I want you to tell me what happened with Jinx,” he insists.

"Dani walked in on us"

She simply tells him the fact that Dani walked in on them and he is outraged,

"How could you be so careless?"

“How could you be so careless?   I thought you were keeping Jinx on side in order to . . .”

"You went behind my back!"

“To go behind my back?   That’s what you did!   You’ve got an English company doing the work – rather than a local business!

"I'm not a lapdog!"

“I’m not a lapdog!”

Brynmor tells her to stop;  “There’s no need to be like that.   You’ve been hurt by what happened with Jinx.   Are Jinx and Dani still together?

"So there's hope, then?"

“So there’s hope, then.”

"You go out with him, if it's so important!"

She angrily snarls, “You go out with him, if it’s so important!” and he wants to know what is wrong with her.   “Nothing – I’ve just realised that you’re using me, just like you use everyone else!”

Brynmor has a slight problem here

With that she marches  out of the flat, leaving him with a slight problem.

Ieuan is looking at the property pages

Cassie is busy in the Deri;  she brings over tea for Ieuan and notices that he is looking at the property pages of the paper.   “I’m just checking how much I’d get for Mami’s house if I sold now.”

"Round here they're going for a fortune!"

“The houses round here are going for a fortune,” says Cassie, “You should know that,” but he points out that the market changes quickly

"Are you looking for a place?"

and wonders if she is looking for somewhere.

"The flat upstairs will be ready soon"

She points out that the flat upstairs will be ready soon.

"You seem to be very happy with Hywel"

He remarks that she seems to be very happy with Hywel at the moment, so she walks away to the bar, behind which Kath is looking intently at her tablet.

"How was the Bahamas?"

“Well, how was the Bahamas?” Cassie asks and Kath says that she had plenty of time to think.

"We're willing to give things another go . . ."

She announces that she and Brynmor have decided that they are willing to give things another go, which Cassie is pleased to hear.

". . . and I'm willing to give this place a go"

“And despite everything that happened, I willing to give this place a go as well – the Deri is too important to me.”

"I feel the same"

Cassie agrees that she feels the same,

That is the end of that idea

but this does tend to scupper the idea she had of involving Dyff.

Brynmor comes to see Jinx

Jinx opens the door of number 9 and Brynmor comes in;

"Very rarely do women like Eleri get hurt"

“Listen, very rarely do women like Eleri get hurt.”   Jinx insist that it was the last thing he wanted to happen.

"How long did you think you could hide the truth?"

“You’ve been playing a dangerous game – how long did you think you could hide the truth from Dani?”

"The timing just wasn't right"

“OK, the thing is, Brynmor, the timing just wasn’t right to finish with Dani at the time.”

"The time is never right, Jinx"

Brynmor stresses that the time is never right, but that Eleri has been caught in the middle of all this and that is what is worrying him.

"She didn't deserve that"

Jinx agrees that she does not deserve that.

“You’ve made a big impression on her, I’d say,” Brynmor goes on, “I’m not the one who deserves an apology.

"You need to act like a gentleman"

“When it comes to matters of the heart, you need to act like a gentleman – I know that Eleri acts like a tough woman, but inside, she’s very sensitive, you know.

"If you were to talk to her, that would mean a lot"

“I think that if you were to talk to her, that would mean a lot.”

He hopes he has planted the seed . . .

Having had his say, Brynmor leaves the house,

. . . and Jinx is considering his words

while Jinx has been caused to think, as he intended.

"You've turned up, then?"

Howard arrives in the farmhouse at the allotted time and looks with fear at the laptop on the table, covered with babies’ clothes.   “You’ve turned up then?” says Sioned;

"I didn't have much choice"

he replies that he did not have much choice.

“Listen, I know you’re nervous about this therapy session, but it will do you the world of good, honest.”

When they're ready, the screen will change"

She opens the laptop and tells him, ‘When they’re ready, the screen will change and they’ll start talking to you.”

She leaves him to it

Sioned leaves the room and he sits, staring at the screen,

He watches the screen . . .

which reads, ‘Apologies for the delay – I’ll be with you in a minute’.

. .  but when it does change . . .

The screen does change,

. . . he panics . . .

but then he panics

. . . closes the laptop . . .

and abruptly closes the laptop;

. . . and flees from the farmhouse

he gets up and rushes out of the farmhouse, with Sioned shouting after him, “Howard!”

Sioned finds him gone

Then she sees the closed laptop.

"What do you want?"

On Brynmor’s advice, Jinx is visiting Cysgod y Glyn;  Eleri demands what he wants.   “I wanted to check that you’re OK,” he says and she replies that, as he can see, she is fine.

"I wanted to say sorry"

He goes on, “And I wanted to say sorry about what happened.”

"Do you still think it's my fault?"

“That took you a long time – do you still think it’s my fault?” she enquires;  he assures her that he was entirely to blame – he has hurt Dani and he has hurt Eleri.

Again she insists that she is fine;

"We got a bit of fun"

“We got what we wanted – a bit of fun  and now you’re not with Dani any more, you’re free . . . so you should be thanking me.”

He says that she is looking good, but she considers that it is rather early to start flirting with her again, so he gives up the effort;

"You had a visitor, didn't you?"

“Why today?” she asks, “Dani has known for a while, but you decide to turn up today – you had a visitor, didn’t you?”

"He's worried about you"

Jinx points out that her father is worried about her;  she sneers, “He doesn’t care about me, I can tell you!”

He was under the impression that she and her father were close;

"Look at you here, at McSorley's . . ."

he is looking at a photo of the two of them.   “Look at you here, at McSorley’s.”   sShe explains that it is a pub in New York.

". . . hang on – I know that name!"

Then Jinx suddenly realises, “Hang on, I know that name.”

She immediately snatches the photo as he continues, “McSorleys22 – that's the e-mail address –

"You blackmailed Diane!"

“you blackmailed Diane!”   Eleri remains silent.

Howard has gone to the Deri

Howard escapes to the Deri, where he asks Cassie for a pint;  she comments that he looks a bit pale and wonders if he is all right.

"I'm fine!"

He snaps, “I’m fine!”

"Are you sure about that decision?"

Cassie asks Kath, “Are you sure about the decision you’ve made?

"I don't want you going back on it"

“I don’t want you going back on it.”

"You sound as it you don't want me here"

“You’re starting to sound like you don’t want me back here, Cassie,” Kath replies, but is assured that is not the case.   She stresses that she has just been looking at options, just in case –

"I had a back-up plan"

a backup plan, in case Kath wanted to sell.   Kath comments, “That was quick, wasn’t it?”

Cassie reminds her that she did not know what she wanted when she left.   “Well, I’m here now, aren’t I?   So who was he – or she?   Anyone I know?”

"I'll say I've changed my mind"

She is told not to worry about that;  “I want you here – so I’ll just phone them to say I’ve changed my mind.”

"Good – I'm glad to hear it"

Kath is pleased to hear it.

"I don't know what you're talking about"

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” bluffs Eleri;

"The e-mail to Diane to make her vote in favour"

she is informed that was the e-mail address which contacted Diane to force her to vote in favour of the dam.

“I can go and ask Brynmor, if you won’t talk to me – he can explain the coincidence with McSorleys to me,” Jinx continues,

"No, don't do that"

but is forbidden to do that by Eleri.

She has little choice but to confess, “It was me, right?”

"What is going on here?"

Jinx cannot understand what is going on;  she enlightens him, “There’s a lot more to this.”   Jinx demands why she is so eager to get this dam approved;  he is adamant he will speak to her father.

"Dad is on the board of Quantum Hydro Works"

On his way to the door, Eleri admits, “Dad is on the board of Quantum Hydro Works.”

"You've been part of this from the start!"

Jinx realises that she has been part of this from the very start.

Sioned tracks down Howard

In the Deri, Howard is hiding in the corner, having already polished off two pints, when he is discovered by Sioned.   “I thought you’d be here,” she tells him, bringing him his jacket.

"I did need two sessions!"

“I did both therapy sessions – you were right, I did need them.”

"I just couldn't face it"

He explains that he just could not face it, but she has not come there to tell him to reschedule.   “I suppose I just panicked,” he says;

"I've inherited a few things from Mam"

she acknowledges that she was too pushy and is afraid that she has inherited a few things from her mother.

"I was up early this morning"

He yawns and she imagines that her company is that boring, but he explains that he was up early this morning with the cattle.   “I do appreciate everything you do, you know,” says Sioned.

"Are Jac and Lili still with DJ?"

He asks if Jac and Lili are still with DJ;  she confirms that they still are

"Let's go and take them home"

and suggests that they go and pick them up to take them home.   Howard is much happier now.

"How are you and Cassie getting on?"

As they leave, Brynmor comes in, asking how Kath and Cassie are getting on;

"We understand each other now, I think"

“We understand each other now, I think,” Kath replies, “Which is a good thing because it looks like we’ll be running the place for years to come.”   Brynmor is pleased to hear that.

"Another cold caller!"

Cassie’s phone sounds and she makes a disparaging remark about cold callers,

Cassie takes a look

then goes elsewhere to look at the message.

The deal with Dyff is off

She sends a reply to Dyff, ‘Kath doesn’t want to sell so the deal is off – thanks,’ and looks rather disappointed about it.

Hywel looks rather forlorn

Hywel is sitting alone at the table with a bottle of wine when there is a knock at the door;  he goes to see who it is, shouting, “Have you forgotten your key again?”

"What do you want this time?"

but discovers that it is Ieuan once more.

"The philanderer is back to his tricks again!"

“Oh, I see – the local philanderer is back to his tricks again!” he remarks.   Hywel simply maintains that he has made dinner for a friend and demands why Ieuan is there.

"That chat about selling Mami's house . . .

“You know that chat we had this morning about selling Mami’s house?

". . . it's too much pressure to put on Anita"

You’re right – it’s too much pressure to put on Anita.

"So you're not selling, then?"

I’m still going to sell –

"Not a word to Anita – right?"

but not a word to Anita – right?”   Hywel protests that he cannot do that, but Ieuan maintains, “A husband and wife don’t have to tell each other everything –

"You should know that better than anyone!"

“you should know that better than anyone!   Where is she, then – your hot date?”

Hywel assumes that she is still at work

Does Anita not feed him at home?

and invites his brother to help himself, which Ieuan is very eager to do,

"And a glass of wine?"

also wanting a glass of wine.

"It has been in the pipeline for years"

Eleri continues her explanation, “The scheme has been in the pipeline for years, apparently.

"Dad persuaded me"

“Dad persuaded me that it would be a fresh start after the court case – guaranteed employment, a good income.   I’m starting to think that was the only reason he came to New York.

"He just wants someone to take the flak"

“He didn’t want a daughter – just someone to do his dirty work and take the flak if anything went wrong!”

"This whole thing is so underhand!"

Jinx is disgusted that the whole thing is so underhanded;  “Do you really want this scheme to go through?”   She points out that she is going to make a lot of money out of it, but he wonders what about everyone else.

"OK, there will be jobs for local people, but . . ."

“OK, there will be jobs for local people, but . . .”

Eleri corrects him

There she stops him;  “Quantum Hydro Works wants to use companies they’ve used before, rather than local ones.”

"So it was a complete con!"

Jinx reaches the conclusion that it was a complete con to get people on side;  “Eleri, there's a risk that people in the village will lose their jobs – do you really want that on your conscience?   We have to tell people!”

"I can't do that to Dad"

She protests that she cannot do that to her father;

"You said he's using you!"

“You’ve said that he’s using you!”

"He wouldn't be the only man to do that"

“He wouldn’t be the only man to do that, would he?” she slyly remarks,

She says she will persuade them — how?

“Look, I’ll persuade them to use local businesses – but you have to keep this to yourself.”

Jinx does not know what to do

Jinx find himself in rather a difficult predicament here.
