and as he attempts to kiss her, she adds, “Watch my lipstick!” He asks if she is doing anything today, and she dismisses it as nothing exciting.
“Are you going to help Jinx with the ‘Mari Lwyd’?” he goes on,

and she confirms that she is going to do an interview with him for the article.

They are off to Thailand |
Gaynor has amassed quite a pile of luggage to take with her, and Hywel is looking at his camera, as he says it is an opportunity to take some good photos;

In the Antur, Jinx is pinning up on the wall various children’s interpretations of a horse’s head. “Have you lost your phone, or what?” demands Kelly, as she comes in.

He explains that his phone is on silent, and that he has moved into the Antur, as Bethania will be out of action for a while. Kelly does not mind, as long as it is warm,

Out in the fields at Penrhewl, DJ has planted the oak sapling, which, like the rest of the nearby trees, is still in full leaf.

Sioned remarks, “It’s strange to think that this will be here long after we’re gone.”

He maintains that the middle of winter is not the best time of year to plant a tree, and she wonders if they should have waited. DJ thinks that it will be fine; “That’s what oaks are famous for – their strength.”

She says that is what they need to be now – strong, and he again raises the possibility of accompanying her to the surgery this afternoon, but she is confident that she will be all right on her own.

Kelly is sure that he does too, pointing out that he is really good with kids; she wonders if he has ever thought about having his own.

asking whether she needs a photo as well. She apologises if she has upset him, but he just wants her to leave it,

Tyler comes into the Deri flat and is told by Dani that Seren loves Lego, just like he did. “I see that Garry bought her a lot of presents as well,” he comments, and she asks him how his present from Eifion is; “Any better?”

He grumbles that it is still sore and he does not think that he will see much of Iolo for a while.

and at that moment, Garry arrives with some red roses. “Are they for me?” she asks, innocently,

Tyler is most definitely not amused.
Dani tells Garry to go and see the kids, while she puts the roses in water and thanks him for them.

She explains to Tyler that he is just trying to prove that he has changed, and he snarls that he hopes she feels the same about him, then leaves the flat.

Kelly comes into the bookshop, where Ffion is browsing;

“I’ve just done an interview with Jinx about the ‘Mari Lwyd’.” Ffion is willing to help with the children singing around the village; “OK, but which songs? We don’t want boring ones, like,” Kelly stipulates, and a child has suggested “Elin Fflur’.

Siôn cannot resist interrupting here; “You do know that the ‘Mari Lwyd’ usually goes around at night?”

Kelly insists that is the point – ‘usually’ – and this is not supposed to be the usual ‘Mari Lwyd’ event, but rather a contemporary interpretation.

but Siôn hopes that they will still sing the traditional songs, because they are not boring at all.

He will go over the tune and the words with the children, if they want, but Ffion maintains that it is not up to her, but rather Jinx, who is in charge. Siôn will get in touch with him, in that case.

DJ is waiting outside the surgery when Sioned comes out, looking furious; “What did they say, then?” he asks,

Tyler comes back into the Deri flat and shuts the door; “Why did you deny that you and Garry are back together?” and she deduces that he has found out. “Yes, through Cassie – why didn’t you tell me?” he rages.

“Because I knew you’d react like this,” she sighs.

He regards such a thing as stupid, but she answers that he cannot judge her; she knows what she is doing.

“Why do you always go back? You don’t understand – you’ll get hurt again. Garry hasn’t changed – he’s up to his old tricks – how can he afford all this?”

She replies that he is spoiling the children because he is trying to be a good father, and he is trying hard with her as well.

Outside the closed door we see that Garry is lurking and smiling at what he can hear.

Siôn is adamant, “You can’t mix folk tradition with the contemporary – it just doesn’t make sense.” Jinx stresses that is merely Siôn’s opinion, but he insists, “I thought you appreciated the old tradition – you won’t have traditional singing either, will you?”

There is a knock at the door of Bryntirion, and Jason thanks Ieuan for coming over;

When they get back Penrhewl, Sioned explains to DJ and her mother, “She won’t do any more tests unless I have a recurrent miscarriages – three or more!”

He senses that something is wrong; “Oh – I don’t know – the whole engagement thing is hanging over my head, I suppose.”

Jinx presumes that Jason is angry with her for refusing,

but she says, “No, I’m angry with him, actually – he proposed to me with Ieuan Griffiths’ mother’s ring, apparently.

Jinx has his reservations about this; “Would you propose with Ieuan’s dead mother’s ring? Exactly!” she snaps. As she prepares to leave, she adds, “I’m sorry if I upset you today – do you want to talk about it?”

“What happened between Garry and me is old news.” Eileen reminds her that this could affect her future, and what the GP said about recurrent miscarriages.

“DJ thinks you’ve only had one – but you’ve had two – it could affect your chances of getting pregnant in the future.” Sioned simply wants her to leave it, but Eileen insists that she is not being fair to DJ.

“I’m not going to tell him!” Sioned stresses, but her mother comments that lies in a relationship are not a good idea. “And don’t you dare tell DJ!” Sioned snarls,

At that moment DJ arrives; “Look, I’m sorry if you thought I put pressure on you earlier about having another baby – we’ll take things slowly.

He tells Eileen that he knows who the boss is, and is now going back to Deri Fawr; he will see Sioned soon.

As he comes round the corner into the alley, Garry is speaking on the phone (in English); “Just let him know what the options are – yeah, that’s right – let’s have a chat about it next week.”
