"Or my own bed, y'know, Jason!"

Kelly is suffering from some back trouble, caused by sleeping on the air bed, and is advised by Jason that what she needs is Pilates.   “Or my own bed, y’know, Jason!” she angrily replies,

"I think I've done permanent damage, seriously"

“Because I think I’ve done permanent damage, seriously,” but he describes her as a drama queen.

“Drama Queen?   One whole month on an air bed!” she squeals;

"You can't expect Mam and Dai to sleep on the floor"

Jason says they cannot expect his Mam and Dai to sleep on the floor.

"Pyjamas, shaving stuff and clean pants"

Diane comes in and presents Jason with, “Pyjamas, shaving stuff and clean pants,” to go with Dai to the hospital, as it is the day of his operation.

"Nefi Wen, Diane!"

Dai exclaims, “Nefi wen, Diane!   You’re worse than Uncle Bob years ago – he used to wear clean pants every time he went out, in case a bus knocked him over, and he would end up in hospital.”

"If anything should go wrong"

Diane wants him to be prepared if anything should go wrong, and he continues moaning, “It’s only a small operation – I’ll be back by late afternoon.”   She reminds him that complications can happen, and he groans,

"Oh, thanks a lot – just what I wanted to hear! "

“Oh, thanks a lot – just what I wanted to hear before going to hospital!”

"Right, we're off, Kelly"

Jason is in a hurry to take him, so they will not be late,

"A step closer to going back to Australia"

and Dai says, “At least tonight we’ll be a step closer to going back to Australia.”

Kelly, sitting at the table, comments,

"Every cloud . . . yeah?"

“Every cloud . . . yeah?”

This incurs Diane's disapproval

and Diane glowers at her.

Rhys checks that the coast is clear

Rhys comes cautiously downstairs at Llwyncelyn, and, after checking that no-one else is in the house, reports to Tesni, “All right, we’re safe!”

"I feel like a teenager again!"

She follows him down, commenting that she feels like a teenager again;

"Exciting though, isn't it?"

“But it’s exciting, though, isn’t it?” he says.

“Shall I text you if the house is empty this afternoon,” wonders Tesni, and he reluctantly informs her that he has work to do, having to price a couple of houses.

"Are these houses empty?"

“Pricing houses – are these houses empty?” she enquires, and giggles mischievously.

"I have so much energy now"

Ffion has just locked the door of Cysgod y Glyn when Cai creeps up behind her, boasting that he has so much energy now he is off the beer.   He will come over to see her later,

"Looking forward to it already"

and she says that she is looking forward to it already.

Then, as he is about to kiss her, her phone sounds;

Ffion has a call from one of the teachers . . .

“Anwen, DT,” she says

 . . . which Cai rejects

so Cai reaches over to reject the call, arguing that if it is important, she will leave a message.   However, Ffion decides that she had better phone her back.

Diane is very worried

Diane is looking very worried at Bryntirion, and Kelly tries to encourage her, “Dai will be fine.”   Diane grumbles that she did not know Kelly was a doctor.

"It's a minor op"

“I’m not, but you don’t have to be a doctor to know it’s a minor op,” is Kelly’s reply.

"They were miles behind in the hospital"

Jason returns alone, much to Diane’s concern, and reports, “They were miles behind in the hospital, so I’ll pick him up later.”

"You haven't left him on his own?"

“You haven’t left him there on his own?” his mother demands, and Jason pities the nurses who have to look after him.

"I'm off to the interview"

Kelly leaves for her interview and tells him he does not need to know the details.

"I'll make you tea and toast, Mam"

Now Jason will make his mother a slice of toast and a cup of tea before he goes;  he assumes that she will not have eaten anything this morning.

"I'll miss you when we go back to Australia"

“You know, I’m going to miss you when I go back to Australia,” she says, and he will miss her, too –

"Especially when we need someone to look after Ifan"

especially when he needs someone to look after Ifan for free.

“No, I know how happy you and Dai are in Australia – do you have any idea when you will be going back?” Jason asks tentatively.

"Are you trying to get rid of us?"

She wonders if he is trying to get rid of them,

"Sleeping on an air bed is not very comfortable"

and he explains that sleeping on an air bed is not very comfortable, and all their clothes are in suitcases.

"It won't be long before we're out of your way"

Diane is not sure yet, but imagines that it will not be too long before they are out of Jason’s way;  however, she may be having second thoughts.

One of the houses to be priced

Rhys and Tesni arrive at one of the houses to be priced and he opens the door;

Funny place to put a piano

as they enter the hallway, with its rather incongruously placed piano, he announces, “As you can see, you walk into a hallway of ‘significant size’, which makes her laugh.

“Would you like to see the large bathroom?” he asks,

"I haven't brought my swimming costume"

“I think you should – it has a Jacuzzi.”   Tesni regrets that she has not brought her swimming costume,

"Good!"

and he regards that as a good thing.

They hurry upstairs

They enthusiastically head upstairs.

Sioned is very troubled . . .

At Deri Fawr, Sioned is sitting, looking very serious;

. . . and ignores the knocking at the door

when there is a knock at the door, but she ignores it.

"Who eats fried chicken for breakfast?"

In the Deri, Jason is having breakfast with Mathew, and wonders if the food will be much longer;  “Who eats fried chicken for breakfast?” he demands.

DJ brings his speciality, DJFC

Then DJ appears with their brunch;  “A DJFC for each of you,” he says.

"What's this brown stuff?"

Jason wants to know what the brown stuff is, and is told that it is maple syrup, which he thinks is strange with chicken.   Mathew encourages him to just try it,

"One couple gave me a £5 tip"

and DJ remarks that one couple were so impressed they gave him a £5 tip.

"This is good!"

Contrary to expectations, Jason finds that it does taste good, and Mathew pronounces it, “Better then any fry up I’ve had!”

Tesni looks out at the garden

Tesni stands, looking out into the garden of the property;

She can imagine herself in a place like this

Rhys puts his arms around her and says, “The garden’s amazing, isn’t it?”   She can imagine herself living in a place like this, cooking dinner, keeping an eye on the children playing on the trampoline.

“Whoa,” Rhys interrupts, “I thought you just wanted a bit of fun – I told you everyone falls in love with me.”

"You're not the father in my story"

She destroys his illusion, pointing out that he is not the father in her little story, but rather Trebor Edwards.

"I want a house with a water bed next time"

“I want a house with a water bed next time, please,” she tells him and he will see what he can do.

Dai is back after his surgery

Dai is back at Bryntirion, with both his hands strapped up, and Diane congratulates him on being so brave.   “I don’t want a fuss, Diane!” he insists,

"Fuss is what you are going to get, good boy"

but she replies that is what he is going to get and orders him to sit down.

"Jason, get a cushion!"

Then she instructs Jason to get a cushion, and asks Dai what he wants to drink.

“Tea – get me a mug of tea, with four sugars,” he answers, and when she reminds him of his diet,

"It's for the pain, Diane!"

he snarls, “What about the pain?   It’s for the pain, Diane!”

Anita comes in and takes over

At that moment Anita comes in and is glad to see them back;  “Sit down, Diane, I’m back now.   Oh, before I forget, look what I’ve got!” and she produces a small bell.

She has a bell for him to summon her help . . .

“Just ‘ring-a-ding-ding’ and I’ll be there for you,” she tells Dai,

. . . and Diane is offended

and Diane looks furious.

Anita continues, “You don’t have to worry about dinner tonight, because I’ve sorted everything out.”

Iolo is lounging on the sofa

Iolo is sitting on the sofa at Y Felin, still in his dressing gown, and when Cai returns,

"You were there when I went to work"

he comments, “You were sitting there when I went to work this morning.”   Iolo replies that he has moved – he played house with Greta a few minutes ago.

“You are OK, aren’t you?   I haven’t seen you properly for ages,” Cai goes on, “Haven’t you got anywhere to go tonight?   I’ll make us a of tea,”

"How about a beer from the fridge?"

but Iolo suggests getting a beer from the fridge.

"You can have a dry February instead"

“You can – I’m having a dry January,” Cai insists, but is told that he can have a dry February instead.

“Like you said, we haven’t seen each other for ages,”

Cai does not need much persuasion

and Cai is very easily persuaded;  Iolo will get some cans from the fridge.

Sioned is sitting at the table

Sioned is sitting at the table, looking at her uneaten toast, when DJ returns home

DJ reports on his successful day

and reports, “It went great – we almost sold out, but lucky for you, there’s one left.   Right, I’d better get changed before that interview about the taxis.

"Did Rhydian come over to help with the sheep?"

“Did Rhydian come over to help with the sheep?”

"I couldn't face anyone today"

She answers that she did not answer the door to him;  “I couldn’t face anyone today.”

"It's the time of the month"

DJ hugs her, and she explains, “I started this morning – time of the month.   I know we have to try and move on, but I just don’t understand why my body would do this so early –

"It's as if our baby never existed"

“it’s as if our baby never existed.   Sorry, I’m upsetting you – you go and get changed – I’ll sort out things with Rhydian.”

"Some things are more importantbthan taxi interviews"

DJ declares that he is not going anywhere;  “Some things are more important than taxi interviews.

"I said I was going to look after you"

“I said I was going to look after you, and that’s exactly what I’m going to do.”

"Are you in pain?"

puts his arm around Sioned, and asks if she is in pain.

"A bit of Dirty Dancing!"

When she replies that she is, he decides that he will get a hot water bottle, a blanket, chocolate and a bit of Dirty Dancing.

"We have the place to ourselves"

Now Tesni and Rhys are at number 9;  “Cassie’s out and Gwyneth’s gone to bingo, so we have the place to themselves for a bit.”   Rhys reports that Mathew is not in the mood to join them.

"You're obsessed with having me all to yourself"

“You haven’t told him, have you?   You’re obsessed with having me all to yourself,” she realises.

"I tried to get out of that Jacuzzi several times"

He protests that he is pretty sure he tried to get out of that Jacuzzi several times, but someone kept dragging him back in.

"I feel sorry for the people who live there"

“I feel sorry for the people who live there,” laughs Tesni.

Rhys asks if she wants children;  “I can see you now, pushing a pram down the High Street,” he begins, but she intends to bring up kids far away from Cwmderi – possibly in London.

"Walking down Oxford Street"

“Walking down Oxford Street, wearing yoga clothes, carrying an iced skinny latte, looking fab.”

"Where's the baby in all of this?"

Rhys wonders where the baby is in all of this, and is informed, “With the nanny, obviously.”

"My kids are going to be brought up miles from here"

He visualises that his kids are going to be brought up far away from this village, too;  “They’d have half the chance of a normal upbringing then,” she comments.”

"To Cadi and Lewis"

Rhys proposes a toast to Cadi and Lewis, his imaginary children;

"Kourtney and Kim"

Tesni says, “Kourtney and Kim – twins – I had them through surrogacy – I didn’t want to miss my yoga lessons.   Can I tell you something completely bonkers?

"Siôn did't tell me he had a vasectomy"

“Siôn and I were trying for a baby when we were together – but he didn’t tell me that he’d had a vasectomy.   I know it’s weird –

"You think I'm mad, don't you?"

you think I’m mad, don’t you?”

Rhys obviously thinks otherwise

His response is, “I think you’re amazing,” and they kiss.

"I haven't seen you anywhere but this house"

Cai and Iolo have got through several cans of the original, alcoholic stuff, and Cai remarks that he has not seen Iolo around the place for a while;  “To be honest, I haven’t seen you anywhere but this house for a while.   Been busy playing house with Greta, have you?”

"I've had a few things to sort out"

Iolo answers that he has had to sort a few things out;  it is suggested that it would do him good to get out and not lock himself away.

"Boys off these dating apps"

“I’m happy to help look after Greta,” Cai offers, “You could go and meet your friends – or boys off these dating apps.”

"I don't do anything like that"

Iolo makes it clear that he does not do anything like that;  “Well, come out for a pint with me – I’m sure Siôn would babysit.”   Iolo protests that he does not need social charity, and is not locking himself away.

"Do you want a whisky?"

He is going to get himself a whisky and enquires whether Cai wants one.

"Since that business with Eifion"

“I’ve just been taking a bit of time to myself, since that business with Eifion,” he adds,

"You're better off without him"

and Cai considers that Iolo is better off without him.   He is lucky he saw the real Eifion before things went too far.

"I can't believe I was so blind"

“But things did go too far, didn’t they?” Iolo groans, “I trusted him – I can’t believe I was so blind I couldn’t see who he was, and how stupid I was to think perhaps . . . oh, forget about it.”

"Iechyd da!"

Cai is adamant that he wants to help, and they drink their whisky.

"Long live the Gin Club!"

In the Deri, Diane is savouring her gin and tells Cassie, “Long live the Gin Club!”   When Cassie imagines that they do not have gin in Australia,

"It's the company that's important"

she is told, “It’s the company that’s important, not the gin.”

"I thought you would want to be at home with Dai"

“I thought you would want to be at home now that Dai has had his op,” Cassie suggests, but Diane says that she is not needed any more,

"Anita the nurse has taken over!"

as ‘Anita the nurse’ has taken over.

"Just enjoy the peace and quiet"

Cassie advises her to enjoy the peace and quiet.

“That’s one thing I’m not short of,” she replies, and Cassie appreciates that coming home is not easy.   After looking forward to it for so long, when you arrive, you find things have changed and people have moved on.

How many more barmen?

As we see that yet another barman is on duty, Cassie adds, “But there we are – you’ll be back in Australia before you know it, lounging by that pool.”

"This is where I'm supposed to be"

Diane regards the pool as more trouble than it is worth, as all she does is collect leaves and change the filter;  “It’s hard, Cas – this is where I’m supposed to be – this is my home.”

Iolo is angry with himself

Iolo continues to grumble, “Everyone warned me about Eifion – I even held back for couple of months, because I knew his history – so I’m angry with myself.   I’m angry that I let Greta be part of his life – and after everything that’s happened with Tyler as well . . .   You know – why don’t I learn my lesson?”

"Nobody ever learns"

Cai laughs that it is a bit funny;  “The truth is, Iols, nobody ever learns – look at Nesta – she knew exactly what I was like, but she married me.   And, you know what?   Despite the years we were together, I never knew her properly – I’m starting to believe you never get to know anyone properly.

"Don't blame yourself"

“So don’t blame yourself.”

"I don't have any friends any more"

“I don’t have any friends out there,” moans Diane, “Not ones like you.   Emma works every hour of the day and Hannah doesn’t want to be with Mam-gu any more.   All I do every day is sit in the house –

"Dai couldn't stan comeing back here"

“because Dai loves it there – he couldn’t stand coming back to Cwmderi.   And even if we did come back, I’m not sure Jason and Kelly would be pleased – we’re in the way as it is.

"You can't miss your home just to please Dai"

Cassie points out that they do not have to live under the same roof;  “You can’t spend the rest of your life missing your home just to please Dai – you have to talk to him,”

"And how am I to do that?"

but Diane thinks that is an impossible task.

"Eifion created this image"

“People like Eifion can created this image they want you to believe – and that they can keep up that image very convincingly if they want.   It sounds as if I’m talking about myself,” says Cai,

"It's important to talk"

“It’s important to talk – men aren’t very good at it.”

Ffion tries to contact him

Then his phone rings and we can clearly see that Ffion is attempting to contact him;

"I don't recognise the number"

“I’m not going to answer that – I don’t recognise the number,” says Cai.

Ffion isn very displeased . . .

At the other end, Ffion, in her dressing gown, is angry that he is not answering

. . . and disposes of his dinner

and scrapes his dinner from the plate into the food bin.

For goodness' sake, get shot of him, Ffion!

She is not at all happy.
