A rude awakening for Tyler 

Garry comes into the Deri flat and thumps on the back of the sofa, where Tyler is asleep;  

"Is Goldilocks staying here permanently?"

“Is Goldilocks staying here permanently?” he asks, and Dani wants to know why he is there.   “I want a chat,” he replies, and has brought some breakfast for them.

“And you think that’s enough?” she demands;  

"I'm sorry about yesterday"

he says that he is sorry about yesterday, but she angrily replies, “You never change, do you?”   

"Don't you have places to be?"

Garry turns and asks Tyler, “Don’t you have places to be?” 

"No, I don't think so"

and receives the answer that he does not.   

"You should have been at APD half an hour ago"

Dani points out to him that he should have been at APD half an hour ago, 

"All right, I'm going"

so he reluctantly rouses himself.

“I want to be honest with you – about everything,” Garry continues, “There are Pecan Plaits in there.”   Dani appears sceptical, and again tries to hurry Tyler up.   

"I want the truth, Garry!"

When he has gone, she instructs Garry that she wants the truth – every word.

Siôn is not their favourite person

As they walk along the street from number 9, Cassie snarls that she could throttle Siôn White for what he did, and Tesni agrees.   “Are you sure you don’t want your job back?” Cassie asks, but Tesni is determined to think about what she wants to do with her life.

"Everyone's been complaining"

Mathew greets them as he is on his way to APD, and has a bone to pick with Cassie.   She warns him not to start, as everyone has been complaining to her;  “I had no choice but to put the prices up in the Deri.”

"Tyler – you're late!"

Mathew shouts to Tyler that he is late for work, 

Is a pint that expensive?

then continues, “But £5 a pint?”   Cassie stresses that it is a good pint, the place is clean – and she is behind the bar.   

"A lot of people would be willing to pay that"

She maintains that a lot of people would be willing to pay that and leave a tip.

"I hoped to catch you last night"

At Penrhewl, Sioned is surprised to see DJ and offers him a cup of tea;  “How are you today?” he asks, “I hoped to catch you last night before you came home.”   

"I didn't want too be late for dinner"

She says that her mother had made dinner and she did not want to be late.   

Eileen has a bag of onions

Then Eileen comes in with a large bag of onions, and Sioned leaves, 

"I'm going to sort the vending machines"

with the excuse that she is going to sort the vending machines.

Tesni is publicising her (unlicensed?) bar

Tesni has been preparing a flyer for ‘Tesni’s Bar’ (in a rather difficult to read font) and predicts that they will have a laugh, 

"Even if it's only the two of us"

even if it is only the two of them.   Mathew wonders if Cassie will be angry, and Tesni concedes that it will be a bit embarrassing if their little bar proves to be competition for the Deri.   

"Right, I have to go to work"

He receives a text from Jason, and must go to work.

“When are we going to get supplies?” Tesni enquires, and he tells her to make a list;  when the van is empty he will text her.   “And we shall need some fairy lights – do you have some at APD?” she asks, but when she wants him to put them up as well, 

"Some people have work to do, Tesni"

he points out that some people have work to do.   

"You don't want to be late, like Tyler!"

She sarcastically hopes that he will not be late, like Tyler.   

Then she calls Rhys

Tesni makes a phone call to Rhys.

"Then things went a bit wrong"

Garry is explaining to Dani, “And then, just before coming back, things went a bit wrong.”

Dani can see that he used Cwmderi to hide;  “And then you used your son as an excuse to run away from your mistakes.”   

"No it was nothing to do with Newcastle"

He is adamant that it was nothing to do with the stuff in Newcastle, and she demands what was the stuff in Newcastle, 

"You've been very 'flush' lately, Garry"

as he has been very ‘flush’ lately, despite running away.

When he answers that did not run away, she points out, “You just said things went wrong!” 

"Just a bit of cash flow"

and he describes it as just a bit of cash flow.   

"I know you're doing something dodgy, OK?"

“Please, Garry – I know you’re doing something dodgy, OK?   The earrring, the bag, the Jag – and then you top it off by buying the chippy back from your sister, and turn it into a fried chicken shop without planning!”

"Why do you always make me feel stupid?"

“I’m not thick – so why do you always make me feel stupid?” she rages, 

"I don't want to feel like this!"

“Garry, I don’t want to feel like this every time . . .”

"I'm telling you the truth now!"

He shouts that he is telling her the truth now, but she seriously doubts that;  

"If you really want to know everything . . .'

he picks up his jacket and tells her, “Come on – if you really want to know everything, 

". . . come on!"

“come on!”

Is this place Health and Safety approved?

At Penrhewl, as Eileen has inveigled DJ to help with Cae Glas, she explains, “He’s a little boy and he should play with boy’s things – he put lipstick on Fireman Sam last week!”   

"I can throw a ball around with Huwi"

DJ suggests that as the Six Nations games start soon, he can throw a ball with Huwi.

"There are too many women in his life"

“Sometimes I think it’s my fault, and there are too many women in his life – that’s why I brought him over the other day – for a man’s influence,” she goes on.

"He can come and farm with me any time"

“He can come and farm with me any time,” says DJ, and Eileen had been hoping for that yesterday.   

"Dad's not doing too well"

He is sorry about that, but his father needed help, and is not doing too well.   “I’m busy – and lonely without Sioned,” he groans, 

"She'll be back home soon"

but Eileen predicts that she will be back home soon.   “I hope so – I’m starting to think she just wants to avoid me.”

"I wish she wasn't angry with me all the time"

Eileen can understand how he is feeling;  “I wish she wasn’t so angry with me all the time,” but he appreciates that she is sensitive at the moment, and although she and her mother fall out all the time, she would still prefer to be at Penrhewl.

He finds it hard not to take it personally

Eileen does not think that Sioned knows what she wants at the moment, so he should not take it personally;  something which he finds it hard not to do.

Sioned is miserable about . . .

Meanwhile, at Deri Fawr, Sioned comes downstairs, sits down miserably at the bottom 

. . . a pregnancy test

and looks at a pregnancy test, which indicates ‘not pregnant’.

"I'd started to forget what you looked like"

Mark is surprised to see Tyler back at number 7;  “I’d started to forget what you looked like,” he says, and Tyler explains that as he is not allowed to see Greta, 

"I like spending time with Dani and the kids"

he likes spending time with Dani and the kids.

“And you’re sleeping there, too – look, Ty, Garry is trying to make a go of things – he’s trying his best,” Mark tells him.

"Ah – Garry, your bestest friend!"

Tyler sneers that he would say that, as Garry’s best friend;  

"Where does all the money come from, then?"

“Where does all the money come from, then?   Not long ago he couldn’t afford to buy toilet paper – and now he’s bought a new chicken shop!   Who does he think he is?   Gus Fring?” who is, he explains, from ‘Breaking Bad’.

"Garry doesn't touch drugs, you know that"

“Look, Garry doesn’t touch drugs, you know that!” Mark insists, but Tyler is sure that something is going on.

The roller shutter goes up . . .

The roller shutter door of the garage slowly goes up and Dani can see what is inside, 

. . . and Dani is astounded at what she sees

which astonishes her.   

She takes a closer look . . .

She walks in 

. . . and stares at Garry

towards the enormous number of widescreen televisions.

The alfresco bar is almost ready

In the back garden of number 9, preparations are being made for the opening of ‘Tesni’s Bar’ and when Rhys comments that she looks nice, she says she is anxious to look the part;  “You never know who’s going to turn up tonight – Idris Elba, Tom Holland . . .”

"Or even Rhys Llywelyn!"

Rhys adds, “Or even Rhys Llywelyn,” and Mathew brings in the last box of drinks.   

"Are we at the right place?"

Three strangers come in, enquiring if they are the right place, and Mathew is detailed to take their orders.

Tesni gives them their orders

Tesni issues instructions, “Rhys, put more cans behind the bar and I will make more cocktails.”   Rhys argues that he would have been better at serving them, as he has more charm,” 

"I want to keep an eye on you!"

but she wants to keep him close, so she can keep an eye on him.

"How long has this been going on, Gar?"

As she walks between the rows of televisions, Dani asks how long this has been going on;  

"Not long"

“Not long,” is the answer, 

"It must pay well"

and she assumes that it must pay well if he was able to open ‘Monk’s Fried Chicken’ so quickly.

"MFC is a front"

He informs her, “MFC is a front.”   She realises that all the stuff is stolen, as he continues to explain that the boys find the stuff and then sell it on.   

"And MFC launders the money"

Dani appreciates that MFC launders the money, and he says that there is more stuff in several other warehouses.

"You said you wanted me to be honest"

“OK,” she sighs and he repeats that she wanted him to be honest.   

"I wanted you to live an honest life as well"

“I wanted you to live an honest life as well,” she adds, and he assures her that he will, 

"Just this one last job"

describing this as ‘one last job’.   He gives her his word, but she tells him to stop it;  “You know, before Newcastle, you said – actually, you promised me – you would change – that you would come back as a different person.   

"You're doing exactly the same thing, Garry!"

“But you’ve come back and you’re doing exactly the same thing.”

"There's one thing I can't change, Dan"

“Because there’s one thing I can’t change, Dan – I love you – and those kids.   I’m doing this for us, Dan – one last job, I promise!   

"You and I, Gwern and Seren . . ."

“And then you and I, Gwern and Seren, can live a comfortable life, a happy, honest life.”

"Does Gabriel come into this plan?"

“Does Gabriel come into this plan?” she demands, “You drop this bombshell, expect me to be happy with it – and you still cannot accept Gabriel!”

"The man who tried to kill me!"

Garry explains that it is not that simple;  “He’s Dylan’s son – the man who tried to kill me!” he shouts.

"But Gabriel is not Dylan!"

Dani points out that Gabriel is not Dylan;  

"I need you to try"

“Garry, I love Gwern, no matter who his mother is – yes, it’s difficult, but I need you to try.”   

"OK"

He agrees that he will try to do that.

Sioned is on the phone

DJ arrives back at Deri Fawr and is surprised to find Sioned there;  “I’ve been looking everywhere for you,” he says, but she is on the phone, talking to the supplier of the vending machines.

"Yes, I've got the guarantee here"

“Yes, I’ve got the guarantee here,” she remarks, and is amazed by their response;  

"Great – fantastic!"

“Great – fantastic – I’ll see you then.”   

"They're coming out to see the machines"

She tells DJ, “A bit of success – the company is going to come out and see the machines.”

DJ sees the pregnancy test

He is rather taken aback to find the pregnancy test on the table, 

"It's to do with the hormones"

so she explains, “The doctor said after losing a baby, you have to take another test – it’s to do with the hormones.   It’s negative, which is a good thing, I suppose.   

"I was worrying about those machines"

“I was too busy worrying about these machines – I just forgot . . .”

"Listen, I know you're not all right, Sioned"

DJ sits down opposite her and knows that she is not all right, 

"I have to go"

but she says she has to go.   “Isn’t it time you came home?” he pleads, “There’s no order here without you – and the way things are up at Penrhewl.   Your mother’s worried, I can see that.”

"If our baby had lived . . ."

Sioned sits down again;  “If our baby had lived, would you have forced it to fit in with people like Mam?” she demands, 

"I wouldn't care what it wanted to wear or play with"

“Because I wouldn’t care what it wanted to wear or play with or anything!   As long as it was healthy and happy – I’d give anything for that now!”

"I'm going back to Penrhewl now"

The tears are streaming down her face as she tells DJ that she is going back to Penrhewl and will see him tomorrow;  

DJ is also in tears

he is left similarly in tears.

"I have work to do

Back in the Deri flat, Dani pours a drink, but Garry thinks that he had better not have one, as he has work to do.   

"Why are you carrying on with this job?"

They stand in front of the window, looking out;  “So, if you’ve already got the money, why are you carrying on with this job?” Dani asks, 

"It will only be a couple of months"

and he says that it will be only a couple of months.

She suspects that someone is forcing him, but he denies that;  or that he is in danger, but he describes it as a favour.   

"I had this contact in Newcastle"

“I had this contact in Newcastle, and things went a bit wrong.”   

Tyler comes back . . .

Tyler has just silently come into the room 

. . . and does some eavesdropping

and hides behind the door to listen to them.

“So you are in danger, then?” Dani assumes, 

"After this job, he'll call it quits"

but Garry has been assured that his contact will call it quits once he finishes this job – and if he makes some money along the way, well . . .

"And you trust this contact?"

Dani wonders if he trusts this contact;  “With my life – do you trust me?” Garry asks.   She is obviously not convinced that this will be the last job, 

Tyler announces his presence . . .

and then Tyler makes his entrance, 

. . . and his intention to stay tonight

intending to stay again tonight.

Garry kisses Dani

Garry kisses Dani and leaves the flat;  

"Hot chocolate and a film?"

“Hot chocolate and a film?” Tyler suggests.

They hear Tesni suggesting 'Butlers in the Buff'

Rhys is doing some washing up at number 9, as Tesni is just bidding farewell to her guests, and promising that there will be more cocktails next time;  “And perhaps ‘butlers in the buff’!   Don’t forget to tell your friends.”

"No chance!"

Mathew and Rhys do not think they will be getting involved with that, and Mathew groans, “I thought they’d never leave.”   

"That blonde fancied you – only joking!"

Rhys maintains that the blonde fancied Mathew, but is only joking.   

"Well, that was a laugh!"

Tesni comes in and says that it was a laugh, but now they deserve a drink to celebrate.

Mathew will have to go as he has work in the morning, 

"We'll have a chat about my wages tomorrow"

but he does suggest that they will have a chat about his wages;  Tesni is sure that she will be busy all day.

"Dan – shouldn't you be in bed?"

Dani has fallen asleep watching the film, and Tyler suggests that she ought to go to bed, as she has missed most of it, and says that he is shattered as well.   

"Yeah – see you in the morning"

Dani will see him in the morning, 

As soon as she has gone . . .

and as soon as she has gone he turns off the television and looks out of the window, 

. . . he looks at the activity outside

coincidentally just as a van is arriving outside.

"You can serve me now, if you want"

Tesni invites Rhys, “You can serve me now if you want – so that I can see this charm of yours.”

"Madame, I have the perfect table for you"

“Madame,” he says, “I have the perfect table for you out there – is anyone special joining you?”   She hopes that someone is, and he continues, “Would you like some wine?   

"Red, white or r-r-r-rosé!"

“We have red or white – or r-r-r-rosé!”

This was inevitable

She maintains that she is not thirsty, and inevitably they kiss.

Tyler investigates . . .

Tyler comes out of the Deri to investigate further 

. . . and captures the evidence

and records with his phone several men, including Garry, 

The televisions are being shifted

carrying the televisions from the garage to the van.

He retreats . . . 

Tyler hurries along the street, and once he is out of sight, 

. . . to review his footage

reviews the scenes which he has captured, 

That face looks familiar

but suddenly, someone creeps up behind him and throws a bag over his head.   

Tyler squeals to be released

Tyler drops his phone as he falls to the ground, shouting to his assailant to let him go.   The van, loaded with televisions, is coming towards them.
