Britt cannot put down her phone

Britt is engrossed with her phone when Colin comes in, remarking that he had a strange dream last night;

A hot-air balloon made of bacon?

“I was flying in a balloon, a hot-air balloon, with Margaret Williams.   This balloon was made out of bacon and Margaret insisted on eating it while singing.”

Britt takes no notice at all

Of course, Britt is taking no notice whatsoever, and Colin demands, “How many texts have you sent now?   You shouldn’t worry about Garry.”

"I'm not stopping until he answers"

She says that she is not stopping until he answers,

"You wait until I get my hands on him"

and Colin threatens, “You wait until I get my hands on him – stressing you out like this!”

Britt sends another text

She continues tapping away on her phone and he is becoming exasperated.

Tesni and Aled leave the café

As they come out of the café, Tesni remarks to Aled, “I thought men had a mid-life crisis, not women – it would be so weird if Mam and Dad split up.”

"He'll  take you out for burger and milkshake"

He maintains that it will not be so bad, as her father will take her out for burgers and milkshakes at weekends.   “I don’t like milkshakes,” she groans.

“They might not split up,” suggests Aled, “People can get through these things, you know.”

"I shall be too busy to worry"

Tesni says that she will not have time to worry as she will be so busy, and cryptically describes it as a new project.

"What's that, then?"

He is immediately inquisitive, and she assures him that it is not a man;  “Men are off the menu!” she stresses, “It’s just a new job, that’s all –

"Communications Officer"

“Communications Officer.”   He wonders who is foolish enough to give her a job, and she describes it as, “An exclusive little company you wouldn’t have heard of.”

"We can't celebrate tonight"

He proposes that they will have to celebrate, but not tonight, as he has a date with Tyler;  as he goes, he congratulates her, and says that she will be great.

Gerwyn folds up his sleeping bag

At number 10, Gerwyn is folding up the sleeping bag, after having slept on the sofa;  “I’m not surprised you couldn’t sleep on there,” comments Jaclyn,

"The sofa is not the problem"

but he points out that this sofa is not the problem.   “The bed felt empty without you,” she continues, and he advises her to get used to it.

"About two in the morning it struck me"

Gerwyn informs her, “I think it was about two o’clock in the morning when it struck me – all of the isolating, washing hands, stopping germs coming in, making sure the kids were OK, especially Tes.

"I got a pay rise – because of you"

“And you were putting us in danger by sleeping with Garry.   Then at four in the morning I thought that is why I got a pay rise – because of you.

"I'm a real fool!"

“It’s so embarrassing – I’m a real fool!”

Jaclyn wants a chance to talk

Jaclyn makes the suggestion that they should go away, giving them a chance to talk, but he it quite clear, “I’m not going anywhere with you.”   She insists that they have to try, and Guto, who is also there, stresses that she heard what his father said.

"Go to work, Dad"

“Go to work, Dad, you don’t want to be late,” Guto tells Gerwyn, “This is not doing you any good – or a walk, to clear your head.”

"I'm not going anywhere"

Gerwyn refuses to go anywhere, maintaining that everyone will be talking about him.

"They're not the same type, Hywel"

As they come out of the alley, past the salon, which is still boarded up, Gaynor remarks, “I wouldn’t have put Garry and Jaclyn together – they’re not the same type.”   Hywel considers that might be the attraction, and she asks if he knew about the affair;

"You have your secrets!"

“You have your secrets!” she reminds him.

"Not as bad as running away with someone"

He does not think that paying for Ffion’s rehab is quite as bad as planning to run away with someone;  “They’ll be fine once the dust settles – we’ve got through it.”   She expresses doubt that they have, and says that Gerwyn is such sweet guy, who does not deserve to be treated like dirt.

Gerwyn has been prevailed upon to go out

At that moment, Gerwyn, who has been persuaded to go for a walk, passes them, and Hywel tells him, “I was sorry to hear about . . . you know,”

"If we can do anything to help . . ."

and Gaynor adds that if there is anything they can do to help, he only needs to ask.”

“See, I told you, everyone’s talking about me!” growls Gerwyn, “And I don’t want your pity either!”

Gerwyn retreats back home again

as he turns and heads back home, followed by Guto.   Gaynor berates Hywel for upsetting him,

"Can't do anything right, can I?"

and he concludes that he cannot do anything right.

"I won't ask you how things are"

Colin has been listening outside the shop;  “I won’t ask you how things are, then,” he begins, and Gaynor says that she was on her way to the shop to pay what she owes.   “Did you get any sense out of the bank?” he asks, and she simply replies that she has less in her account than she thought.

"The Good Samaritan paid for Ffion's rehab"

“And there will be even less now that the Good Samaritan has paid for Ffion’s rehab!” she snarls.   Colin fears that sort of thing is cheap, but she goes on, “I’m not worried about the money – it’s the fact he didn’t tell me.   Why, Colin – why go behind my back?”

"He may not have wanted a fuss"

Colin suggests that Hywel may not have wanted a fuss, and assures her that she is the one he wants – not Ffion.

"He needs to show more respect"

“Well he needs to show more respect towards me, then,” Gaynor concludes,   “Right, come on, before you start charging interest!”

"It's all they're talking about, thanks to you"

Back at number 10, Gerwyn complains, “It’s all they’re talking about, thanks to you.   Poor dab Gerwyn – he can’t hold onto his wife – he’s not enough for her – he can’t keep her happy.”

"Why don't you go for a shower, Mam?"

Tesni advises her mother to go for a shower, as it will make her feel better,

"We could do with a break from you"

and Guto growls, “Just go up. Mam – we could do with a break from you, seriously!”

"She feels bad enough already"

Tesni looks very disapproving at this, stressing that her mother feels bad enough already, without him making it worse.   “Go on – take Mam’s side!” he retaliates, “Why didn’t you tell Dad about it?”   She yells that she did not know Dani was going to tell everyone, and insists that she was doing the right thing.

"I would have been honest"

This degenerates into a shouting match, with Tesni demanding, “What would St Guto have done, then?”   He insists that she should have been honest, and it would have prevented that show with Dani.   But now everyone knows.

"All this is my fault!"

The commotion has brought Jaclyn back downstairs and she springs to Tesni’s defence;  “It’s not Tes’ fault – all this is my fault!”

"I'm glad we agree on something"

Gerwyn mutters that he is glad that they agree on something.   “Tes has been trying to keep us all together – you can’t blame her,” Jaclyn exclaims, “Come on, let’s have a cup of tea.”   Tesni does not want one, but walks out through the back door.

"Oi, Hywel, what's your game?"

When Hywel comes out of the café and heads for the shop, Colin challenges him, “Oi!   What’s your game?”   Hywel answers that he was going to do some shopping, but does not think much of the service.

"I don't think much of the way you treat Gaynor"

“I don’t think much of the way you treat Gaynor,” he is sternly told, “She said enough for me to know you’ve been treating her like dirt – again!”

"That's none of your business, Colin"

Hywel points out that it is none of Colin’s business,

"Ffion's life is none of your business"

and the retort is, “Ffion’s life is none of your business – but that doesn’t stop you, does it?   I don’t know what your game is, but I do know that Gaynor is . . . wonderful.   Do you really think you can walk all over her?

"Do you want to lose her?"

“Do you want to lose her?”

Hywel says that of course he does not, so is invited to prove it, and quickly;  Hywel retreats,

Hywel is not Colin's favourite person

with Colin watching reproachfully as he goes.

"That's what you want me to do, is it?"

Out in the back garden of number 10, Tesni is speaking seductively on the phone to another of her clients;  “So that’s what you want to do to me, is it?   You are a naughty boy, aren’t you?

"I know what I'd like to do to you!"

“I know what I’d like to do to you, if I got the chance.   OK, until the next time, then – tara.”

"You told me you didn't have a man"

She is unaware of the approach of Aled; ‘“You told me you didnt have a man,” he says, “Who were you talking to, then?   I heard you.   Oh no, he’s married, isn’t he?   That’s why you’re so secretive.

"I'm working – for Lisa"

She explains that she is working, for Lisa, and he is astonished that is her new job;

"You said you were a Communications Officer"

“You said you were a Communications Officer,” and she confirms that she is communicating, but not in the way he thought.   She advises him not to be such a prude.   “Tes, you’re better than this,” he says, she maintains it is not as seedy as it sounds;

"It's no big deal"

she is selling a service, and it is no big deal.

“A chat and a flirt – it’s so easy,” she explains,

"Those creeps are taking advantage of you"

but he insists that those creeps are taking advantage of her.   “I’m taking advantage of them – they’re the lonely losers.   I’m just making money out of them.”   He wonders what will happen if they become obsessed and track her down;  he blames himself for telling her about Lisa’s business.

“You did me a favour – it’s a doddle!” she tells him, but he wants her to stop.

"It's easy money – I'm not going to stop"

“No way!” she rages, “It’s easy money – I’m not going to stop because it you don’t like it!” and she returns through the back gate.

Britt stares at her phone . . .

Britt stands in the kitchen, staring at her phone;

. . . then sends another text

she cannot resist grabbing it and composing another text.

"Garry will answer when he's ready"

Colin comes in and pleads, “Britt, please – Garry will answer when he’s ready.”

"He'll be so upset, Col"

She recalls that he was so happy and could not wait to start his new life;  he will be so upset.

"Or embarrassed"

“Or embarrassed,” adds Colin, “No-one likes to be jilted, do they?   Once the dust has settled, he’ll be back – you’ll see.   If I were you, I’d just enjoy the peace.”

"If only I heard from him"

She is not convinced, and frets, “If I’d only heard from him,” and returns to her phone;  Colin angrily demands that she hand it over to him, warning that she is going to make herself ill.

She is on the point of giving it to him when it sounds;

"Garry!   He's in London!"

“Garry!” she says excitedly when she sees the message, “Hey, there we go!   He’s in London,”

"I understand that family comes first"

and reads the message.   “Tell Jaclyn I understand that family always comes first.   Dani doesn’t want me to come back to Cwmderi – I have to respect that.   I’ll text soon.”

"There – I told you, didn't I?"

Relieved, Colin tells her, “There you go – I told you.   He’s gallivanting in London, there is no need to worry.”

"Wait until I see that Dani!"

Britt is not much happier;  “Wait until I see her – not Jaclyn – Dani!   He would be home if she didn’t want him to stay away!”   She proceeds to send another text.

Tesni recognises a voice . . .

In the café, where no-one appears to be on duty behind the counter, Tesni is eavesdropping on Griffiths, who is speaking on the phone.

. . . and cannot suppress a snigger

“It was nice to work with you again as well,” he says, and Tesni looks surprised.   She cannot resist sniggering loudly, and after he ends the call, advising,

"Just do the job and get out quickly"

“Just do the job and get out quickly,”

"Do we know each other?"

he asks her if they know each other.

“Yes, very well, actually,” she replies with a laugh, but he is unable to recognise her;

"I'm Tesni – but Tasha to my friends"

“What about voices?’ she goes on, “I’m Tesni – but Tasha to my friends.   It’s nice to put a face to the voice.   You don’t look quite the way I imagined.”

"Ooh-er, this is rather awkward"

Griffiths appears very disconcerted, and maintains she has no idea what she is talking about;  she must have mistaken him for someone else.   “I don’t think so – I’m good with voices,” she asserts.

"You weren't shy earlier"

As he prepares to make a hurried exit, she adds, “Don’t be shy – you weren’t shy earlier.”

She finds this quite hilarious

However, he walks out, much to Tesni’s amusement.

Hywel is busy, cooking lunch

At Llwyncelyn, Hywel is cooking when Gaynor comes in;  “I wanted to make you some lunch,” he says,

"What have you done now?"

and she immediately wants to know what he has done now.   “I do have a secret to tell you,” he continues,
and she knew that there would be more.

"I've booked a holiday"

He informs her that he has booked a holiday;

"For Ffion?"

she immediately wonders, “For Ffion?”   He points out that it is for them, and he is trying his best here;  he appreciates that she should not have gone behind her back, and promises it will not happen again.

"I don't want Ffion"

“I don’t want Ffion – I want you to see how much you mean to me.   Come with me – the hotel is great, and it’s not too big.   It’s only breakfast, as I know how much you enjoy going to restaurants.   It’s got a balcony overlooking the sea, and a pool for Esther.”   Gaynor enquires if there is a spa, and when he confirms that there is, she appears to be persuaded.

"If I can find my passport"

“Yes, I might be tempted, if I can find my passport,” she says, “But listen – no more secrets – and I want to share the cost.”   He argues that this is his gift to her, by way of an apology, but she is adamant she wants to pay her way.

"I've spent more than I thought recently"

“Mind you, I’ve spent more than I thought recently.”   He assumes that will be all the online shopping during lockdown, and they will sort the money out some other time.

"You should try on that bikini"

He does suggest that she should try on her bikini, and she reprimands him.

Britt chases after Jaclyn

When Britt emerges from the shop she meets Jaclyn, who tries to escape;  “You don’t want a message from Garry then, do you?” Britt asks,

"He understands that family comes first"

“He texted and said to tell you that he understands that family comes first.”

"When is he coming back?"

Jaclyn wants to know if there was any mention of him coming back, and is told, “He won’t be – for now anyway.   You made him really happy –

"It's a shame you got cold feet"

“it’s a shame you got cold feet!”   She dashes off in the direction of the Deri.

"Have you seen Tesni?"

Jaclyn turns to see Aled, who is looking for Tesni;  “She’s not answering her phone – she’s upset.”

"We know why she's upset, don't we?"

Gerwyn and Guto have come out of the house, and they will search for her.

"You told Garry not to come home!"

Inside the Deri, Dani insists that Britt cannot blame her;  “You told Garry  not to come home!” Britt snarls,

"He's not wanted here. Britt!"

and Dani assures her that he is not wanted there.   “What about Gwern and Seren – and me?” Britt demands, with Colin trying to encourage her to calm down.   “We want him home!” she yells.

"I'm glad he's not here!"

Dani thinks otherwise;  “I’m glad he’s not here, and the children will be too.”   Britt’s next demand is that Gwern should stay with her, as Dani is not a blood relation.

"Not to live with . . ."

“This is his home – he needs some stability now, not to live with . . .” at this point, Dani checks herself.

"Say it – someone bipolar?"

“With what ?   Go on – say it!   Someone bipolar?” Britt screams, and Dani calmly points out that Gwern is happy with her and Seren;  the last thing he needs is to move.

"Dani's right, you know, Britt"

Colin agrees with this, and Dani goes on that what Gwern wants is what matters,

"Gwern's not going anywhere"
and he is not going anywhere.

"Have you seen Tesni?"

Then the door opens and Gerwyn marches in, looking for Tesni;  “Nobody’s seen her, and she was upset.”   Dani points out that she is a big girl now and will be fine.

"After your performance yesterday!"

“Yes, I hope so – if not you’ll be partly to blame after your performance yesterday!” he exclaims, and walks out again.

Tesni is being followed

Tesni turns into the alley, followed by Griffiths;

"Three times, if you include our 'chat'!"

“Hello – twice in one day – three times if you include our ‘chat’,” she comments.   He wants a word with her, but she explains that he will have to phone;

"Sorry, I don't do 'one-to-ones'"

she does not do one-to-ones.

"Not with Tasha – with you!"

“Not with Tasha – with you!” he growls, “Don’t you ever talk to me like you did earlier.   Keep your banter to yourself, right?   No-one knows how I . . . relax, and that’s how I want it to stay.”

"I'm a professional"

Tesni replies that she will not tell anyone – she is a professional.

"Your behaviour in the café wasn't professional!"

“Your behaviour in the café wasn’t professional!” he snaps at her, and she dismisses it as a bit of fun.

"You could destroy my business"

“Your fun could destroy my business,” he informs her, “My good name is like gold, and I’ll do anything to protect it, understand?   You’re way out of your depth, good girl!”

"It won't happen again"

She apologetically promises it will not happen again, and his chilling response is, “I’ll make sure of that, don’t worry.

"You haven't heard the last of this, Tasha!"

“You haven’t heard the last of this, Tasha!”
