"He threatened me, Al"

Tesni is on the phone to Aled, telling him of her confrontation with Ieuan Griffiths;  “It was horrible, Al, he threatened me, said I was going to regret it.   You were right – I should never have started working for Lisa.   There’s no need for you to come over – it’s OK.   

"What right does he have to talk to me like that?"

“I’m angry, more than anything.   What right does he have to talk to me like that?”   Then as her mother comes downstairs, she has to abruptly terminate the call.   

"Aled asking about the latest family scandal?"

“Aled asking about the latest family scandal, was he?” enquires Jaclyn, and is told that he just wanted a chat.   “Well, he was worried about you yesterday – we all were,” her mother continues, 

"I want a change of scenery"

“I really want a change of scenery, and I’d like some company.”

"Dubai, LA?"

Tesni thinks that sounds like a good idea, and wonders where they will be going, suggesting Dubai and LA as possibilities.   Jaclyn’s choice is Pembrokeshire, which is judged to be perfect.   “We’ll arrange it later, shall we?  I’m just going out for a walk,” says Tesni.

"Tesni, I want a word with you"

She has only just come out of the front door when Lisa demands to talk to her;  “I’ve had a complaint from one of the clients,” she begins, 

"And I want to complain about him"

and Tesni regards that as a coincidence, because she wants to complain about him.   “Ieuan’s done nothing wrong,” Lisa tells her, 

"Never greet clients in public"

“Rule number one – we never greet clients in public – we never even acknowledge them.”

"That doesn't give him the right to threaten me!"

Tesni replies, “OK, I was wrong – but that doesn’t give him the right to threaten me.   He cornered me, said I was out of my depth, said he was going to make me regret it!”   Lisa looks rather shocked, and Tesni realises, “He left that part out when he made his complaint, didn’t he?”

Lisa confirms that he should not have gone anywhere near Tesni;  “But that doesn’t make what you did right.”

"You don't have to sack me – I resign!"

Tesni tell her not to worry;  “You don’t have to sack me – I resign!”   Lisa protests that she cannot do that, and points out that although she made a mistake, Lisa does not want to lose her, as she has had positive feedback, which Tesni finds encouraging.

"You've got real talent, Tesni"

“You’ve got real talent – what we do doesn’t come easily to everyone, so will you stay?   I understand if Griffiths has frightened you.”   Tesni explains that he made her really angry;  she knows she made a mistake, but deserves more respect than that.

"Got some fire in that belly, haven't you?"

“You’ve got some fire in that belly, haven’t you?” Lisa smiles, and is told that a creep like Griffiths will not put it out.   “What if I had a word with him, to clear the air?   Would you stay then?” is Lisa’s next question, 

"Perhaps"

and Tesni answers that perhaps she would.   Then she is offered a sweetener;  “A pay rise, perhaps, in a couple of weeks – if you behave.”

More money changes her mind

Tesni is pleased to accept, but adds that she is going away with her mother next week, and is advised to take a break and start afresh when she gets back.   

Jaclyn witnesses this conversation

As Jaclyn comes out of the front door of number 10, Lisa warns Tesni to report any problems straight to her, stressing, “Us women have to stick together – enjoy your holiday, Tasha!”   

Tesni looks very pleased with herself

Tesni looks very pleased with herself.

"Did you see the postie just now?"

In the café, Ffion is drinking her coffee when Kelly looks anxiously at the post;  “Did you see the postie just now?” she asks Ffion.   

"Taking time off work to run, Ffion?"

Anita is surprised that Ffion is taking time off to run, 

"There's time for a sneaky run"

and is told that there is time time for a sneaky run while she is working.

Then the telephone rings, and Anita groans, “More orders, probably – it never stops here!”   

"You've been on overdrive all morning"

Kelly will deal with this call, commenting that Anita has been on overdrive all morning.

"I'm just waiting for the right time"

When she has gone into the kitchen, Ffion says, “You haven’t told her, have you?”   Anita replies that she is waiting for the right time, 

"Kelly's on edge"

but Ffion points out, “I saw her looking at the post just now – she’s on edge.”   Anita is afraid that Kelly will never forgive her, but it is emphasised out that she does not know that.   

“I’ve lost enough as it is, and I don’t want to lose Kelly,” Anita insists, 

"You're both living on your nerves"

but Ffion underines the fact that Kelly is living on her nerves, and Anita is no better;  they cannot carry on like this.   Anita gives her a sour look.

Hywel's squatter is making himself at home

In Hywel’s house, Eifion is making himself at home, and after brewing a cup of tea, he speaks to Jason on the phone;  “Listen, how would you like a new brickie?   

His plea for a job is rejected

“There must be something I can do – make the tea, clean your shoes.”   He looks quite offended when Jason puts the phone down.

"I've come to see how my sister is"

Dylan enters number 10 by the back door;  “I’ve just come to see how my sister is,” he begins, but she thinks that it may be to rub it in.   

"You said Garry was not to be trusted"

He had said that Garry was not to be trusted, and was proved right.

“But you’re the one who had a change of heart, not him,” Dylan replies, 

"I saw through him in the end"

and she looks momentarily suspicious, then explains that she saw through Garry in the end, just like Dylan said she would.

“All I want is for you to be happy,” he goes on, but she does not see how this can happen, pointing out that everyone, apart from Tes, hates her.   “I don’t hate you,” he stresses, 

"It takes guts to change your mind"

“You should be very proud of yourself – it takes guts to change your mind the way you did.   You’ve done the right thing – trust me!”

"It's a shame Ger doesn't see it that way"

“It’s a shame Ger doesn’t see it that way,” Jaclyn groans, 

"He doesn't really talk to me"

“He doesn’t really talk to me.   We’re like every other couple – we argue about who cleans the bath, who does the bins, but this . . .”

"He'll come round, Jacs"

Dylan is confident that Gerwyn will come round;  he says that other couples go through worse and come through the other side, so they will be OK.   She is very doubtful about that, 

"No, don't do that, Dyl"

and he suggests that he could have a word with his brother-in-law, but Jaclyn is sure that he will not want to talk.

He rejects a phone call

Dylan’s phone sounds and he immediately silences it;  “At least let me try, or what’s the point?” he says, 

"What's the point of being in any relationship?"

“What’s the point of anyone being in any relationship, because if you can’t get through this, there’s no hope for the rest of us.”   

"Some things not even you can fix"

She is adamant that there are some things that not even he can fix.

Eileen is becoming impatient

At Penrhewl, Eileen is becoming rather impatient;  

"I don't know where Dylan is"

Sara apologises, “I don’t know where he is – he must be in a meeting or something.”   Eileen replies that they might as well start without him, but Sara would prefer to wait for Dylan, and predicts he will not be long.

"Hope he's not getting cold feet!"

“I hope he’s not getting cold feet!” remarks Eileen, “Right, canapés – what kind do you want?”   Sara would rather wait for Dylan before agreeing to anything, as she wants him to take part in all the organising.

"I can't sit here all day!"

“I can’t sit here all day – I’ve got work to do!” protests Eileen, and Sara is fretting that Dylan is all right.   “I’m sorry, but now Eifion’s not here, there aren’t enough hours in the day,” Eileen grumbles.

"Fine – I'll go, then, shall I?"

“Oh, fine!” snaps Sara, “I’ll go then, shall I?   I’ve obviously wasted too much of your precious time – I might find someone with a bit more patience!”   She marches out of the farmhouse.

Jaclyn is again trying to contact Garry

Jaclyn is composing another text, and Dylan looks worried;  “Do you really think that’s a good idea?” he asks, and she says she just wants to check that he is OK.   

"Let the Monks worry about him, Jacs"

“Let the Monks worry about him – you concentrate on your marriage.”

She says she is trying to do that, but admits that she misses Garry.   Dylan, however, is adamant that she has made her decision and there is no going back.   

"If I only got a text, or heard his voice"

“If only I got a text, or heard his voice,” she goes on, but Dylan shouts that she should forget about Garry Monk.

In the nick of time there is a knock at the door, and Dylan finds that it is Sara;  

"So this is where you're hiding!"

“Ah, right, so this is where you’re hiding!” she scolds him, “I felt like a real lemon, waiting for you at Penrhewl!”   

Dylan has to work quickly to shut down the phone . . .

He surreptitiously pulls a phone from his pocket and quickly shuts it down.  Sara rants on, “I’ve been to the flat, and to Tapas – I’ve been everywhere, Dylan!   What’s more important than organising your own wedding?”  

. . . as Jaclyn is about to send it a text

Meanwhile, Jaclyn has finished composing her text and sends it to the mobile phone so recently shut down by Dylan.

Sara is not impressed with his excuse

He gives the answer that Jaclyn has been breaking her heart, so he is sorry if discussing tents slipped his mind.

Griffiths is following up his complaint

Griffiths has paid a visit to number 9, where he is drinking a cup of tea;  “Well, what did she say, then?   

"She probably denied everything"

She probably denied everything,” he sneers.   Lisa replies that Tesni accepted that she was at fault and apologised;  he is pleased to hear it.

"I hope I can restore your confidence in our service"

“I really hope I can restore your confidence in our service,” Lisa continues, and he suggests that compensation would help, for instance, fifteen minutes of chat for free.   “Don’t push your luck, Ieuan,” she warns, 

"Tesni said you threatened her"

“The thing is, Tesni had something else to say – that you threatened her.”

He maintains that he did no such thing, but she points out that according to Tesni, he did.   

"It was just a warning, that's all"

“It was just a warning, that’s all,” he explains, and Lisa forcefully instructs him to speak to her if he has a problem.   “If you offered a subtle service, there wouldn't be a problem,” he answers.

"We're both eager to put it behind us"

She assures him that Tesni has learnt her lesson;  “And we’re both eager to put it all behind us.”   

"So you're not going to sack her?"

Griffiths is surprised that she is not being sacked, but is told, “I strongly believe she deserves a second chance.”

"But Tasha is a different story"

He half-heartedly agrees with her;  “Listen, Tesni and I might not see eye to eye . . . but Tasha is a different story!” 

"All right, what's so important"

In the café flat, Anita has summoned Kelly upstairs;  “All right, what’s so important?” Kelly demands, and Anita would like a chat with her.   “I’ve got lots of orders downstairs, like – all right, starving or not, they can wait.   What’s up?” Kelly demands.

"It's about those letters"

Anita hesitantly begins that it is about the letters, 

"I'd just started to forget about them"

and Kelly sighs, “I had just started to forget about them for a little while, like, but yeah, go on.”   

"You don't have to worry about them any more"

Anita just want her to know that she does not have to worry any more, 

"Easier said than done, though, isn't it?"

but Kelly interrupts, “Easier said than done, though, isn’t it?   When I got the one posing as you, I thought how ridiculous it was, that someone was sending letters like that!   

"As if you'd do something like that!"

“Yeah, OK, fine – we’ve had tough times, right, but you’re family – you’re like a mother to me.   As if you’d ever do something like that!”

Anita agrees with her, but does not like to see her living on her nerves;  

"If you want me to open your letters"

“Look, if you want me to open your letters from now on, just ask.   And I want to say that I’m sorry, as well, for the way I’ve been treating Luned.”

Kelly insists that there is no need to go over that again, but Anita says she feels terrible.   “It was just an error of judgment,” Kelly tells her, “We all make them.   

"Auntie Neet, you're being silly"

“Auntie Neet, you’re being silly – come on, action stations – or we’ll get letters of complaint next!”   She hurries back downstairs, while Anita looks no less worried.

Eifion's next stop is the Deri

Behind the bar in the Deri, Cassie is restocking some bottles when Eifion swaggers in;  “How’s my favourite landlady today, then?” he asks, and she replies that she is busy.   

"Now that Monk's done a bunk"

“The question is, what can I do for you?” he goes on, “I know how heavy beer barrels are, and now that Monk’s done a bunk, you’ll need another man around the place, won’t you?”

She informs him that she is capable enough to lift barrels herself, but he insists that another pair of hands would be handy;  

"Those hands would go straight into the till"

“Those hands would go straight into the till, knowing you,” she says, “Have you any experience of working in a pub?”

When he says that he has had plenty of experience drinking in one, she remarks, 

"You'll have to find a job somewhere else"

“I’ve seen several sheep, but that doesn’t make me a farmer.   You’ll have to find a job somewhere else.”   

Eifion is not pleased

This does not go down well with Eifion.

"Want to go shopping, Mam?"

Tesni asks her mother if she wants to go shopping for some new clothes for their holiday;  Jaclyn was under the impression her daughter was skint, and points out they are only going to Pembrokeshire.   Tesni is sure they can find a bargain somewhere, and suggests that it it will be a laugh.

"What was going on between you and Lisa?"

“What was going on between you and Lisa this morning?” her mother enquires, “I saw you talking.”   

"She wanted to take her car to the garage"

Tesni manufactures a tale of Lisa wanting to take her car to the garage, but Gerwyn was not there.   

"It's from Garry . . ."

Jaclyn’s phone sounds, and Tesni picks it up to find a message, purportedly from Garry;  

". . . Better if you don't contact me"

“Don’t mess with my head.   Better if you don’t contact me,” she reads, “You’ve been texting him!   

"I thought it was over"

“What if Dad saw this?   What are you doing?   I thought it was over.   You’d better listen to him – it sounds to me like . . .”

"Just stop, Tesni!"

Jaclyn screams for Tesni to stop;  “Just look at you, Mam – I thought things were good between you and Dad now.   You have to stop contacting him!”

"At least I know he's OK now"

Her mother admits that it is stupid, but she has just been told that Garry does not want her to contact him, so that is fine;  “At least, I know that he’s OK now.”   

"Garry Monk will always be OK!"

Tesni maintains that Garry Monk will always be OK, 

"I won't do it any more"

and Jaclyn promises that she will not do it any more.

However, she still looks at the message . . .

However, as soon as Tesni has gone upstairs, she picks up the phone and looks at it.   

. . . and Dylan is also looking at it . . .

At the same moment, in the café flat, Dylan is looking at the same message, on the phone from which it was sent, 

. . . but he smartly hides the phone

which he hurriedly puts away when Sara comes in.

She is in apologetic mood, asking what he would like for lunch from the café;  “Are you still angry with me?   I shouldn’t have lost my temper like that,” she confesses.   

"You were disappointed, weren't you?"

He replies that it is understandable, as she was disappointed, 

"I should have thought before opening my mouth"

but she insists, “I should have thought before opening my mouth.   Not everyone would be so worried about their sister.”   

"That's how I've always been"

He says that is how he has always been, and Sara describes him as sensitive.   

"I'm very lucky to have you"

“I’m very lucky to have you,” she tells him, “Right, I'm going to get us a treat from the café.”

"I thought you'd be long gone!"

Outside the shop, Eileen is rearranging the vegetables as Eifion emerges from the alley.   “Oh, I thought you’d be long gone!” she snarls at him, 

"Why are you still here?"

“Why are you still here?”   He informs her that she can banish him from the farm, but not from the village;  “More’s the pity!” she groans, “Who’s been stupid enough to take you in, then?”

"I've found a great little house" — just over there

He boastfully replies, “Nobody – I’m living on my own – I’ve found a great little house,” (which we can see in the background).   “It’s a lot nicer than that dump of a room in Penrhewl.”

"That's a lovely room!"

Eileen points out that the room is lovely, but he growls, “No, it’s drab and miserable – a bit like you!”   She wonders what she was thinking of, giving him another chance, but he maintains that he is family.   

This is contested by Eileen;  “Cadno is family, not you!   I should have shown you the door once she saw the light.”   Eifion says that leaving Penrhewl was the best thing that ever happened to him.

"Nothing ever lasts for you, does it?"

“But nothing ever lasts for you, does it, Eifion?” she taunts him, “Your job, your marriage, your children – you lose them all in the end.   It’s no wonder Izzy left you for Mathew – at least he’s got a heart.”   

This comes as a shock to Colin

Colin has just come out of the shop and heard this, which he did not know about.

"We all know what she's like"

Eifion brags that they were together for months;  “She deceived everyone – but there we are, we all know what she’s like!”   Colin is infuriated that he is speaking like this about his daughter, but he continues, “I just wanted someone to pass the time with until I found someone better.   

"No good between the sheets – just like her mother!"

She wasn’t even that good between the sheets – just like her mother!”

This is too much for Colin, who is about to attack Eifion, 

Eileen prevents Colin from thumping him

but Eileen discourages him from so doing.   “Ooh, have I touched a nerve?” Eifion goads him.

"Clear off, Eifion!"

“He’s not worth it, Col,” shouts Eileen, and screams at Eifion to go;  

"You're always spoiling my fun!"

he complains that she is always spoiling his fun.   

They find his threat ominous

As he walks away he threateningly warns them that he is not finished with Penrhewl yet.
