Gaynor is on her way out

Next morning, Gaynor is putting on her coat when Tom comes downstairs 

"Where are you going so early?"

and wants to know where she is going so early.   “I’m just popping to Tamed,” she tells him, “I’m tired of making my own breakfast.”

"Thanks for the invitation"

“Thanks for the invitation,” he grumbles, so she points out that he has to go to work.   

"I'll come with you"

“Tell you what,” he goes on, “I’ll come with you – I could do with a decent cup of coffee.   There’s nothing better than fresh coffee, is there?”

"You can't – I'm meeting Ffion . . ."

Gaynor says that he cannot come with her as she is meting Ffion;  of course he wants to know why she is meeting Ffion.   “Well, to discuss the hen party – 

". . . and there are some things the groom is not supposed to know"

“and there are some things the groom isn’t supposed to know, all right?”

He does not like that

He is not at all happy about this and as soon as she has left, he picks up his coat and also leaves the house.

Eileen is looking at the laptop . . .

Eileen is working on the laptop 

. . . and does not like what she sees

and obviously does not like what she sees.

"Were you late home last night?"

At Y Felin, Lleucu brings in her breakfast, just as her father is coming downstairs.   “Good morning – were you late home last night?” he asks her, “I didn’t hear the door – I must have fallen asleep.”

Lleucu asks if he managed to fix Dani’s lamp in the end, 

"There's something wrong with the switch"

but he thinks that there is something wrong with the switch;  he will be looking at it today.   “What did you do, then?   Last night, after I left?” she enquires.

"I didn't do anything"

When Cai maintains that he did nothing, 

"I saw you, Dad!"

she exclaims, “I saw you, Dad – what the hell do you think you’re doing?”   

"It was a mistake"

Cai explains that it was a mistake, 

"Didn't look like a mistake to me!"

but Lleucu is adamant, “It didn’t look like a mistake to me!”   He simply retires to the kitchen.

"The money left the account this morning!"

Eileen has hurried to the Deri and informs Cassie, “The money left the business account this morning – £1,000!”    

"I thought he was going to sell it to someone else"

Cassie was under the impression that Bedwyr was going to sell the Beaujolais to someone else.

That was what Eileen also believed and so she asks Cassie if she will phone Bedwyr;  

She does not fancy contacting him

but she does not at all happy about it.

"This coffee is lovely"

In the deli, Ffion remarks that she coffee is lovely;  “Plenty of flavour, but not too strong.”   

"You didn't bring me here to review the coffee"

“Ffion, you didn’t bring me here to review the coffee,” insists Gaynor, 

"You're not going to like this, Gaynor . . ."

so Ffion reveals that has something to tell Gaynor which she is not going to like;  

". . . but I have to be honest with you"

she points out that she has to be honest.

Then Tom turns up again

At that very moment, who should arrive but Tom, who announces that they have run out of coffee at home;  

"You know what I'm like if I don't get my fix"

“You know what I’m like if I don’t get my fix,” he laughs, “Are  you discussing big plans?”

Gaynor maintains that there is a lot to do with the hen party 

"Oh yes, we've got a lot to do"

and Ffion agrees with her.   “I thought you said Colin was organising it,” interrupts Tom, so Gaynor reminds him that Ffion is a bridesmaid as well

"I'll go and get a coffee"

He decides that he will get a coffee and then come to sit with them, “Just in case you organise any strippers!”   

Just what she did not want

Ffion and Gaynor look at each other.

Dani calls upstairs at Maes-y-Deri to Gabriel (but of course we do not see him) that he will be later for school.   

There is a knock at the door

She packs his bag and there is a knock at the door.   

"I thought I'd bring this back for you"

It is Lleucu, who is carrying the malfunctioning lamp;  “I thought I’d bring this back for you – Dad hasn’t managed to fix it – 

"I know you kissed last night!"

and before you say anything, I know you kissed last night!   Dad said it was a mistake.”

Dani agrees that it was, 

"A stupid mistake, if you ask me!"

but Lleucu continues, “A stupid mistake, if you ask me!   Well, it is, isn’t it, after everything – 

Dani listens to this tirade

“neither of you are in a strong place at the moment – 

"Am I right, or am I right?"

“am I right or am I right?   I’m glad we agree.   

"Good luck with that lamp"

“Good luck with that lamp.”

Cassie encounters an answering machine

Cassie has tried to contact Bedwyr, but has only reached an answering machine;  “Typical!” snarls Eileen.

"Bedwyr, it's Cassie Morris"

Cassie leaves a message, “Bedwyr, it’s Cassie Morris, the co-owner of the Deri Arms in Cwmderi.   There’s been a mistake somewhere about this Beaujolais business.   

"Could you phone me back, please?"

“Could you phone me back, please?   It is quite urgent.”

"He's doing this to get back at me"

Eileen is convinced that he is doing this to get back at her;  “He wasn’t happy when I said I didn’t want to see him again.”   

"He wouldn't hold a grudge, would he?"

Cassie does not imagine he would hold a grudge like that, 

"I have been ignoring his calls"

while Eileen concedes that perhaps she was a bit unfair on him by ignoring his calls.

"You had every right"

Cassie assures her that she had every right and does not owe him anything.

"What?"

Then they hear Britt’s voice as she comes upstairs;  

They look accusingly at her

when she walks into the room they look angrily at her.

In the Deli, Tom remarks that it is good coffee;  

"Aren't you meant to be ay work?"

Ffion asks, “Aren’t you meant to be at work,” 

"Not trying to get rid of me, are you?"

and he laughs that it sounds as if they want to get rid of him.   

"I won't disturb you"

He tells him to carry on, as he will not disturb them.

Gaynor says that at the hen party she does not want to play silly games like Mr and Mrs and nonsense like that;  

"I would be happy to go out for a meal"

“I would be happy to just go out for a nice meal.”

"You could go to that new place in Carmarthen"

Tom suggests that they could go out to that new place that has opened in Carmarthen;  Gaynor has seen that it has a lot of good reviews but cannot remember what it was called, so she is going to look it up on Facebook on her phone.

Ffion is tired of Tom's presence

Ffion is becoming fed up with Tom making faces at her, so proposes that they should go somewhere quieter to discuss this;  

"We need to talk, Gaynor!"

“We need to talk!” she emphasises.   Tom tells her to stop, but Ffion is adamant that Gaynor has to know.

"Please, Ffion"

“Please,” begs Tom 

"What's going in?"

and Gaynor demands to know what is going on.

"Are you going to tell her, or shall I?

“Are you going to tell her, or shall I?” says Ffion.   A strange look comes over Tom and his cup falls to the floor, 

Tom has to take extreme measures

as he slumps sideways with a vacant look on his face, as he does his best to simulate having a stroke.

Ffion phones forman ambulance

Gaynor is panic-stricken and Ffion will phone for an ambulance, 

"Ffion, no!"

as Tom gasps, “Ffion, no!”

"This will make you feel better"

In the Deri, Cassie brings over their drinks and tells Eileen that it will make her feel better;  

"He deserves to be castrated!"

Britt simply mutters, “£1,000 down the pan – he deserves to be castrated for what he did!”   Cassie reminds her that there is no proof of that yet, but Britt snarls, “Isn’t there?   He hasn’t phoned back, has he?”

"Could we sell the Beaujolais?"

Eileen wonders if they could sell the Beaujolais  over a period of time, 

"We haven't got it, Eileen!"

but Britt angrily points out, “I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but we haven’t got any bottles either.”

Cassie adds, “The only person I know who would buy 15 bottles of wine is Gaynor Llywelyn – 

"I understand she's stopped drinking"

“and I understand she’s stopped drinking.”

Eileen regards this is a terrible situation and she is so sorry;  

"If I hadn't . . . with Bedwyr . . ."

“If I hadn’t . . . with Bedwyr, none of this would have happened.”   

"I just hope the night was worth it!"

Britt just hopes that the night was worth it.

"Things haven't been too good with Siôn recently"

Eileen explains that things have not been too good between her and Siôn recently, but Britt appreciates that they all do stupid things sometimes.   “Christmas is just round the corner and you two have lost money because of what I did.”

"Come on, we're the Beaujolais ladies"

Cassie tries to encourage her by pointing out that they are the Beaujolais ladies;  

"We can sort this out together"

Britt is sure that they can sort this out together.   After taking a sip of her drink, 

"I think I know how we can do it"

Eileen announces that she thinks she knows how they can do that.

Tom is loaded into the ambulance 

An ambulance is in the High Street and Tom is wheeled into it, 

"I'm sure he'll be all right"

with Gaynor and Ffion coming out of the deli.   Ffion is confident that he will be all right, but Gaynor is not so sure;  “None of this would have happened if I’d stayed at home,” she groans, 

Gaynor is extremely worried . . .

then walks into the back of the ambulance and attempts to comfort Tom.

. . . but does Ffion suspect it is all an act?

Ffion is watching from the doorway of the deli.

"I wouldn't describe it quite like that"

“Blackmail?” exclaims Cassie, but Eileen would not describe it quite like that.

She explains, “I’ve come across men like Bedwyr before – and you have to play them at their own game – or is that going too far?”   

"It's a stroke of genius!"

On the contrary, Britt maintains that it is a stroke of genius.

"So we need to find our way to this Beaujolais do"

“So we need to find our way to this Beaujolais do in Swansea tomorrow, threaten to publicly embarrass him, and we get our money back,” summarises Cassie.

"You're a dark horse, Eileen"

Britt adds that they get a day out into the bargain;  “You’re a dark horse, aren’t you, Eileen?”   

"She's dangerous after a drink"

Cassie comments that she is dangerous after a drink.   What happened the last time we went out proves that!” laughs Britt.

Cassie cannot wait to see his face when they turn up, 

"But how do we get tickets?"

but the only problem Eileen can see is getting tickets for this occasion;  “They’re like gold dust, apparently.”

"I've made a few sandwiches"

Lleucu arrives home at Y Felin and her father asks if she wants any dinner;  he has made a few sandwiches.   She says that she is not hungry.   

"If you're looking for the lamp . . ."

He looks around for something;  “If you’re looking for the lamp, I took it back to Dani.   

"I told her exactly what I told you"

“I told her exactly what I told you – that I can’t believe you’ve been so stupid – everyone is only just getting back to normal.   This could change everything.”

Her father repeats that it did not mean anything;  he and Dani understand each other, 

"This the last thing you need"

but Lleucu will not be told.   “This is the last thing you need, both of you – it doesn’t make sense!”  

"I know you're trying to protect me"

He appreciates that his daughter is trying to protect him, but insists that she does not need to.   She thinks otherwise, “I do!   

"You don't have to watch your parent suffer"

“I’m serious – it’s not you who has to watch your parent suffer.   I never want to see you like that again!”

"I understand – it would be stupid"

“I understand – it’s not fair on you, Lleucu – I do understand and agree with you that it would be a very stupid thing to do – really.”   

It seems they have reached a truce

It appears that she now accepts that her father agrees with her and he hugs her.

"What do you think of this, then?"

The next part of Britt’s plan swings into action;  she asks Cassie, “What do you think of this?” and reads the text message she has prepared.

"My name is Brittney and I've got 1.2 million followers"

“Hi, my name is Brittney and I’ve got 1.2 million followers.    I’m absolutely snatched and I’ve heard that your Beaujolais Day eats and leaves no crumbs.   

"Is there any chance my Bezzie girls and I . . ."

“Is there any chance my Bezzie girls and I could get tickets?   Love you long time.”

Cassie cannot understand what language that was 

"That's how Gen Zers talk these days"

and is told that is how the Gen Zers talk these days – Kylie taught her the lingo.   

"Perhaps we should discuss it"

Eileen suggests that perhaps they ought to discuss it, 

Too late – it has been sent

but Britt immediately presses the ‘send’ button.

"And this will get us into the Beaujolais thing?"

“So you think pretending to be an influencer, will get us into Bedwyr’s Beaujolais thing?” asks Cassie.   Eileen believes that it is called ‘catfishing’.

"Do you have a better idea?"

“Well, do you have a better idea?” Britt demands, then an alert sounds on her phone.   “Hold on – they’ve answered!”   Cassie imagines that they have been blacklisted, 

"I've got three tickets!"

but is informed, “You’d better dust off your glad-rags, ladies – I’ve got three tickets for us to Bedwyr’s Beaujolais event!”

"You shouldn't have doubted Brittney!"

Cassie is absolutely amazed, but is told by Britt, “You shouldn’t have doubted Brittney!”

Gaynor hesitates before answering the door

As Gaynor sits quietly at Llwyncelyn, there is a knock at the door;  at first, she wonders whether to answer it, but eventually does so, finding that it is Ffion.

"How's Tom?"

She asks how Tom is and is told that he is stable and is going to be all right, 

"They're keeping him in overnight"

but they are keeping him in overnight.   Ffion is very sorry about everything and asks if there is anything she can do;  

"You know where I am"

“If you need anything, you know where I am.”

"What were you going to tell me?"

Gaynor enquires, “What were you going to tell me?” but Ffion maintains that it was nothing important.   “It didn’t sound like nothing to me.”   

"Now is not the time to discuss it"

Ffion insists that now is not the time to discuss it.

"What's going on, Ffion?"

“What’s going on?   Have you been talking behind my back again?   Something is obviously worrying you – and Tom as well, so tell me, please.”

"I can't be your bridesmaid"

Ffion has to think of something on the spur of the moment and comes up with, “I’m sorry, but I can’t be your bridesmaid.   

"Val is ill"

“Because Val is ill – she might need an operation and then I’ll have to go and look after her.”

"Why not Nesta?"

Gaynor wonders why Nesta cannot do it, but is reminded that she is in Dubai.   

"So you can find someone else"

“I wanted to tell you so you would have time to find someone else, if you wanted.”

"These things happen"

Gaynor understands that these things happen.   

"I was worried how you would react"

“And I told Tom before you because I was worried how you would react – I didn’t want to disappoint you.”

"You didn't have to bother"

You didn’t have to bother – and neither did Tom,” says Gaynor.

"Tom wants everything to be perfect"

“Tom just wants everything to be perfect, like you do,” Ffion continues, “Organising a wedding is the most stressful thing a couple can go through.”

Gaynor now feels very sorry for poor Tom;  

"I didn't realise he was under so much strain"

“I’ve been thinking about my own problems so much I didn’t realise he was under so much strain.”

Ffion insists that it is not her fault, but Gaynor is equally insistent that it is.   She is advised not to overthink things, but rather talk to him properly when he feels a little bit better.

"Lleucu came to see me"

Cai has gone to see Dani at Maes-y-Deri;  “Lleucu came to see me,” she begins 

"Sorry if she was rather blunt"

and he apologises if his daughter was rather blunt.   

"She reminds me of me"

“No, she just feels very strongly about it – she reminds me of me when I was her age.”

"I want to take another look at that lamp"

Cai wanted to take another look at her lamp.   “Don’t worry about Lleucu,” Dani goes on, “She’s just sticking up for you – but she is right about us.”

Cai wholeheartedly agrees with that 

"I don't want to lose your as a friend"

and Dani does not want to lose him as a friend, after everything that has happened.   They think that has cleared the air between them, 

"What if Lleucu didn't know about it?"

so Cai will now go, but before he leaves, he suggests, “What if Lleucu didn’t know about it?   That we have a bit of fun?   I think you're great, Dani.”

"I don't know what to say"

She is not quite sure what to say, but he maintains that she does not have to say anything.   

"We can't do that to Lleucu"

“We can’t do that to Lleucu,” Dani tells him.

"I'm the one who's supposed to worry about Lleucu"

He points out that he is the one who is supposed to worry about Lleucu, so she should not use that as an excuse.   “She doesn’t have to know, does she?   

"You know where I am, Dani"

“It’s up to you – you know where I am,” he offers. 

Dani is left alone with her thoughts 

With that he leaves the house.
