Stranger in Y Felin! |
There is a stranger in Y Felin; when Siôn comes downstairs in his dressing gown, he is shocked to be confronted by this stranger, who demands, “Who are you?”
"Who are you?" |
Siôn furiously asks him the same thing
Iolo finishes dressing |
and at that moment Iolo hurries downstairs, still doing up his shirt.
"Date went well last night, did it?" |
Siôn concludes that Iolo’s date went well last night.
Jinx is sleeping off last night |
In the shop flat, Jinx is sleeping on the sofa
Mathew rudely awakens him . . . |
when Matthew comes in and loudly drums on the worktop to waken him; “Good morning – how is everyone this morning?”
. . . and Rhys |
Then we discover that Rhys appears to have been sleeping on the floor and enquires what time it is.
“8:45, Rhys,” is Mathew’s reply
"I have to be in work by nine!" |
and Rhys groans that he has to be in work by 9 o’clock.
"But you don't care what Eleri thinks, do you?" |
He is reminded, “But you don’t care what Eleri thinks, do you? What happened to this revolution? It finished at about 2:00am, did it?”
"We weren't out till two?" |
Jinx is surprised to hear that they were out until two, but Rhys snarls, “We would have been earlier if you hadn’t cried in the taxi for half an hour because Dani wasn’t replying to your texts!”
"What texts?" |
“What texts?” shouts Jinx, as he frantically gets out his phone. Mathew reminds Rhys that the texts were his idea, and Jinx protests that he was not ‘compos mentis’ at the time. He is dismayed to discovers that the texts were, “Really bad!”
Rhys would prefer to discuss something more important, like where are the Paracetamols. Mathew informs him that there are none, and leaves them to their hangovers.
Kelly is back at Tomos ac Ellis |
Kelly arrives at Tomos ac Ellis on her first day back;
She has been left a 'to-do' list . . . |
she notices a piece of paper, headed, ‘Welcome back’
. . . which she studies |
and looks at the accompanying list.
"Where are you from, Sam?" |
Iolo’s date is putting on his shoes and is asked by Siôn, “Where are you from, Sam?”
"Llanelli" |
He replies that he is from Llanelli and is further asked, “Is that where you went to school? Iolo performed brilliantly at an Eisteddfod in Llanelli once.”
Iolo indicates to his father that he should desist, so Siôn then offers Sam some breakfast,
Sam escapes from Y Felin |
he declines and leaves the house, thanking Iolo for a great night.
"Hey, he's handsome" |
Hey, he’s handsome,” comments Siôn, as Greta is coming downstairs; Iolo explains that they could not find two taxis, so that is why he was there.
"Who was he, Dad?" |
Greta is eager to find out, “Who was he, Dad?”
Iolo does not know what to say |
but there is no reply.
"I've loaded the van for Howard" |
At APD, Mathew informs Ieuan, “I’ve loaded the van for Howard, so I’ll be back and forth between Cysgod y Glyn and Deri Fawr if you need anything.”
"You're still seeing each other, then?" |
“Ffion moving today, is she? You’re still seeing each other, then – is that a good idea?” wonders Ieuan.
"I like her and a think he likes me" |
Mathew points out that he likes her and he believes that she likes him,
"Why waste time with someone who doesn't?" |
but Ieuan continues, “If you want a family, why waste time with someone who doesn’t?”
"She might change her mind" |
Mathew is hopeful that if they end up together, she might change her mind. “But what if she doesn’t?” then Ieuan realises that he may have overstepped the mark.
Mathew points out that he is used to not having family around, so he will be fine.
Ieuan does some investigating |
However, Ieuan is doubtful about this and starts looking through a notebook.
"You're pulling my hair!" |
is brushing Seren’s hair, causing some protests; “If you want to see Ella, you have to sit still!” Her phone is ringing
"Can you do something with Gabriel?" |
and she asks Gwern to do something with Gabriel. Seren runs away and knocks Dani’s handbag to the floor. Gwern delves into the handbag and takes out the phone; she tells him to ignore the call.
Malcolm Edwards, Solicitor |
He can see that the call is Malcolm Edwards, solicitor,
Gwern finds this disturbing |
which he finds very disturbing, then tells Dani that he does not know what to do with Gabriel.
"Gwern!" |
By now Dani is becoming very frustrated; Gwern tells her to do it herself and walks out of the house.
"Careful with those boxes!" |
Howard is removing boxes from Cysgod y Glyn, with Ffion warning that there is glass in them; Mathew tries to console her that they know what they are doing. “Would you rather do it yourself?” he asks,
Mathew is trying to ease the pressure on her |
“I’ve sorted this company so you don’t have to worry.”
"It's messing with my head" |
This does little to calm her; “I can’t help it – with this trying to sort out Deri Fawr and going to the doctor tomorrow, it is messing with my head!”
"Why don't you go out for lunch?" |
He puts an arm round her and suggests that she goes out for lunch; “I’ll make sure everything is properly packed – go to Deri Fawr and wait until everything arrives.
"Put your feet up for a while" |
“Put your feet up for a while, because you’ll need the energy when everything arrives – all right?”
"Phone me if you need anything" |
She tells him to phone if he needs anything.
"Isn't Eleri here?" |
Kelly has made herself a cup of tea and does not look at all pleased about being back at work. Rhys arrives and apologises for being late; “Welcome back, Kel – isn’t Eleri here?”
"On your first day back?" |
Kelly advises that she has been left in charge, and he is incredulous; “On your first day back?”
"Don't tell me – meeting with the developers – right?" |
He guesses that Eleri has a meeting with developers, but Kelly has some bad news for him,
Kelly hands him the list |
handing him the to-do list which was left for her.
"You're joking!" |
He initially thinks that it is a joke
"No joke" |
but she sadly shakes her head.
Gwern hides in the garage again |
Gwern has escaped once more to the garage, where he sits looking at his phone,
He looks up the solicitor |
particularly at Google entries for Malcolm Edwards, Family Law Specialists.
"Who sacks someone via a 'to-do' list?" |
Rhys angrily demands, “Who sacks someone via a to-do list?” Kelly answers that is what Eleri does, by the looks of it. “I haven’t done anything wrong!” he shouts, but is told that she must have her reasons.
'She's off her head!" |
“She’s off her head!” he rants and is urged to calm down, but he simply takes the list and tears it into pieces;
"That's what I think of her list!" |
“That’s what I think of her list!”
Kelly complains that they were more things on that for her to do, but now he is looking at his phone;
"I'm going to tell her exactly what I think of her!" |
“I’m going to tell her exactly what I think of her!”
Kelly attempts to reason with him; “Because that’s really going to help! You’ll make things worse.”
Then suddenly he goes quiet |
Then he comes across the texts which he sent last night – while in an inebriated state – and suddenly goes quiet.
"You didn't send these to Eleri?" |
He shows his phone to Kelly, who exclaims, “You didn’t send these to Eleri? What’s wrong with you?”
His excuse is that he was drunk and does not remember doing it;
"She's read them, hasn't she?" |
“She’s read them, hasn’t she?” he groans and Kelly answers in the affirmative.
Dani leaves the house |
Dani comes out of number 9 and meets Jinx outside the deli; she asks about his head and he apologises.
"You texting me all night" |
“I know things aren’t great at the moment, but you texting me all night puts pressure on me.”
"Sorry – I wasn't thinking straight" |
He replies that he was not thinking straight; “Rhys told me I should . . .” She wonders what business it is of Rhys’s. He goes on, “We went to the flat, then to the Bull – and then some dump in Llanelli somewhere.”
He asks Dani what is wrong;
"I've been up all night with Gabs" |
“Nothing – I’ve been up all night with Gabs, so I’m going to get him some medicine. I’m glad you enjoyed yourself.”
"I've invited you out many times" |
He reminds her that he has invited her out many times,
"I can't help it if the kids need me" |
but she points out that she cannot help it if the kids need her; she will talk to him later and continues to the pharmacy.
Then Jinx notices . . . |
Then Jinx sees
. . . Rhys leaving Tomos ac Ellis |
Rhys emerging from Tomos ac Ellis in a similarly depressed state.
Kelly joins Ffion in the deli |
In the deli, Ffion is sitting and toying with her meal when Kelly comes in.
"Successful first day?" |
“A successful first day?” Ffion enquires; Kelly makes it quite clear that she regrets setting foot back in the office.
"I feel really uncomfortable!" |
“Rhys, Eleri – the falling out – I feel really uncomfortable being in the middle of it all, like.”
"I have to eat to keep my energy up" |
Ffion says that her appetite keeps coming and going, but she has to eat something today to keep her energy up. Kelly asks her how the big move is going.
"Mast sent me out" |
“Fine – Mathew sent me out – and I thought Arwen would be in the way!” Ffion laughs.
"He's good with you, isn't he?" |
Kelly can see that he is good with her and makes the offer that
"If you would prefer Mathew, I don't mind" |
if Ffion would prefer for Mathew to go with her tomorrow, she does not mind.
“I think the world of Mathew, Kelly – you know I do,
"I don't need him coming to the doctor with me" |
“but I don’t need him coming to the doctor with me – I wouldn’t want him hearing my business even if we were together.”
Dani comes home . . . |
Dani returns to the house
. . . and finds Gwern ready to leave |
to find Gwern sitting on the sofa, having packed his bag.
"I'm sorry for snapping" |
“About this morning – I’m sorry for snapping,” she says, “I’m just under pressure, that’s all.”
"If I leave, I'm doing you a favour" |
“So if I leave, I’m doing you a favour – everyone a favour,” he replies. Dani protests that is not true, but he continues, “I know you’ve been talking to a solicitor who deals with the family law, and child custody.
"You want to get rid of me, so he can come back" |
A Malcolm was trying to phone you this morning – that’s what you were talking about with Jinx, too. You want to get rid of me, so that he can come back.”
"You've misunderstood" |
Dani exclaims, “That’s not true – you’ve misunderstood – I can explain!” She removes the bag and sits down,
"You want Jinx to move back in" |
as he remarks that she wants Jinx to move back in. “I want you to be OK,” she insists, so he demands why she has been talking to a solicitor.
"This Malcolm offered me a job" |
“This Malcolm, the solicitor, has offered me a job, but I’m not going to do it because the timing’s not right – I have to be there for you, Seren and Gabs. I’d love to do both – but you come first.”
Gwern does not want to hold her back, but she assures him that he is not holding her back. Then he offers to go and get Seren from Ella’s while she stays with Gabriel.
"Please, take that upstairs with you" |
“That would be lovely – but first, please take that upstairs with you,” she tells him, pointing to his bag.
Arwen arrives at Deri Fawr |
Mathew is bringing more boxes into Deri Fawr and when Arwen arrives she is surprised at the progress; “Aren’t you glad you been at Catrin’s house all day?” says Ffion.
"How did all this fit into the flat?" |
Arwen cannot understand how all this fitted into the flat.
"Your stuff is in your bedroom" |
Mathew tells her that her stuff is in her bedroom and Ffion predicts that there is a lot to sort out,
Arwen hurries up there |
but Arwen is keen to see her room. “Someone’s happy,” Mathew comments and Ffion is glad about that.
"Cysgod y Glyn is the only home she's ever known" |
“Cysgod y Glyn is the only home she’s ever known – I worried that she would be upset perhaps, but she doesn’t realise that it’s the end of a chapter.”
"It's the start of a new chapter" |
Mathew maintains that it is the start of a new chapter; it is going to be a happy and exciting time for both of them. Ffion hopes that will be the case
Arwen watches their cwtch |
and Mathew gives her a cwtch, while Arwen watches from the foot of the stairs.
"Hey, Jinx . . ." |
Again Jinx is asleep on the sofa in the shop flat; he is rudely awakened by Rhys.
"Have you sorted things with Dani?" |
“I need to talk to you – have you sorted things with Dani?”
"Er . . . no" |
When told that he has not, Rhys goes on, “Well, you need to, then, because I’ve left my job. Resigned – been sacked – whatever you want to call it! I’ll be here all the time – with you and Howard the flat feels like a tin of sardines –
"You have to move back in with her" |
“so you have to move back in with her.”
"Why not Howard?" |
Jinx wonders why Howard is not the one who has to go; “He doesn’t have anywhere else to go – you’ve got a house that you own.”
"So have you!" |
Jinx protests, “So have you!”
"I don't have a choice" |
Rhys says that he is relying on the rental income from number 10 now, more than ever, so insists that he does not have a choice. “And what about last night? Us against the world and all that?”
"Who is this quiz aimed at?" |
In the Deri, Siôn and Iolo are discussing the forthcoming quiz; “Who is this quiz aimed at?” Iolo wants to know.
"It's rôle is to educate people" |
Siôn explains that one of the rôles of a quiz is to educate people about their language and culture.
He suspects that Iolo’s lack of sleep is starting to show, but Iolo does not want to talk about that again.
"Do you know Sam well?" |
“Do you know Sam well?’ he is asked and is told that they have been texting for a couple of weeks.
"Perhaps he'd like to come to the quiz" |
“Perhaps he’d like to come to the quiz,” Siôn suggests, as he goes to get another drink.
Sam appears to be pretty eager . . . |
A message arrives on Iolo’s phone; ‘Can’t wait for the next date – when do you fancy?’
. . . but that cannot be said for Iolo |
Iolo does not look particularly pleased to see this.
"Is Gwern here?" |
Dani is clearing up at number 9 when there is a knock at the door; she finds that it is Jinx. He asks whether Gwern is there, but is told that he has gone to get Seren.
"Dani, I hardly ever see you" |
“Dani, I hardly ever see you – it’s not right, is it? I want to come back,” he says. She reminds him that they have already discussed this
"Gwern is starting to settle" |
and points out that Gwern is starting to settle; she does not want to spoil that.
"I can't sleep on the sofa for ever!" |
“I can’t sleep on the sofa for ever,” he stresses, but she insists that he and Gwern cannot live together –
"We've tried it – and it didn't work" |
they have tried it and it did not work.
“Yes, OK, but this is my home,” he reminds her and Dani wonders if he wants them to move out. “I didn’t say that, but I don’t know what else to do
"Rhys wants me out of the flat" |
“because Rhys said he wants me out of the flat and I need certainty – this is my certainty.”
"How am I supposed to find somewhere else?" |
“What about the children’s certainty?” she asks, “How am I supposed to find somewhere else – and pay the rent? I can’t go back to number 7 – Kelly has signed a contract.”
"You can stay with me, with pleasure" |
“You have certainty here – you can stay with me, with pleasure,” Jinx assures her,
"We can't, because Gwern can't" |
but she replies that they cannot, because Gwern cannot.
"Will you think about it, please?" |
“I’d really likes to be back together, OK? More than anything – so will you think about it, please?” he begs her,
He leaves the house |
then turns and leaves the house.
Dani can only see one solution |
Dani comes to the conclusion that she now has only one option; she picks up the phone and dials a number. “Hiya, Malcolm – it’s Dani.
"Is it too late to accept the job?" |
“Listen – about the job – is it too late to accept?”
"Howard is staying late" |
At APD, Ieuan is getting ready to leave when Matthew comes in; “Howard just got back – he’s staying late because he’s helping you tomorrow,” says Ieuan.
"Ffion and Arwen seemed happy" |
“Yes, at Deri Fawr. It went well today – Ffion and Arwen seemed happy.”
"I think you'll be happy in a moment, too" |
Ieuan thinks that Mathew will be happy in a moment, too;
I've been doing some detective work" |
“I’ve been doing some detective work today – I was thinking about the conversation we had last week, about family, Mami and the questions I wish I’d asked when I had the chance. It’s too late for me now, of course, but not for you.”
Mathew wonders what he means |
Mathew wonders where this is leading;
"I found her online" |
“I phoned your father, just to find out her name – and I found her online. I didn’t even have to do a DNA test to track her down –
"She's asking how you are" |
“and she’s asking how you are.”
"You contacted my Mam?" |
Mathew cannot believe that Ieuan has contacted his mother;
"She would love to hear from you" |
“Just to make sure it was the right person,” Ieuan stresses, “She said that she would love to hear from you,”
He shows the contact details |
and he shows Mathew her contact details on his phone,
"I've found your mother" |
adding, “I’ve found your mother.”
