DJ has made breakfast |
DJ prepares a lavish breakfast for Sioned and himself; he is about to take them upstairs when she walks in.
"I've done plenty of lying down" |
“I’ve done plenty of lying down over the last few weeks,” she says, so he invites her to sit down and enjoy it.
"A breakfast fit for a Princess" |
“A breakfast fit for a Princess – Anita is opening up today, so I can go in later. I’m going to make you lunch – and I know I’m not among the best, but I can give you a massage as well.”
"Practice for when you're a chef at Café Neuf?" |
She looks at the meal in front of her and demands, “What’s this – practice for when you’re a chef at Café Neuf?” DJ looks confused.
Gaynor comes downstairs |
At Maes-y-Deri, Gaynor wishes Cheryl good morning and is invited to sit down for breakfast;
"I've cut your toast the posh way" |
“I’ve cut your toast the posh way,” Cheryl laughs.
Gaynor is not feeling 100% |
Gaynor is still feeling rather dodgy after her overindulgence and is asked, “Why did you buy all those drinks for everyone? Are you buying friends?”
"I was trying to be generous" |
Gaynor maintains that she was just trying to be generous, but is reprimanded, “You don’t have to use money to be generous – when was the last time you helped someone without spending money?” Gaynor says that she likes cooking for people, and is reminded, “For your people.
"Get out of your bubble, Gaynor" |
“Get out of your bubble and get to know your community.”
"If you don't want too be here, just go" |
Sioned continues, “If you don’t want to be here, just go!”
"I was just looking at the menus" |
DJ explains that he was simply looking at the menus, as he does from time to time, and imagining what he would have changed if he had taken the job.
"Why look at ferry times, then?" |
“Why look at the ferry times, then?” is the next question.
DJ confesses that he was thinking of going to see Dic; “He was disappointed when we couldn’t go over –
"I thought I'd go to see Dic, once you're better" |
“I thought I’d go and visit him for a night, once you’re better. Honestly, there’s nowhere else in the world I want to be.”
Sioned is dubious |
Sioned does not look entirely convinced.
Rhys is listening in . . . |
Rhys is in the Deri, eavesdropping on Kath’s phone conversation with Brynmor;
. . . to Kath's conversation |
“No, it’s quiet here – it’s only 10:30. OK, I’ll call tomorrow,” she says.
"What business is that of yours?" |
“Was that Brynmor?” Rhys asks and is told to mind his own business.
"While the cat's away, is it?" |
“Oh yes, while the cat’s away, is it?” he goes on.
Kath is most offended; “What are you trying to say? Even if I wanted to, do I have time to chase other men?”
'The place is dead, isn't it?" |
He replies that she has plenty of time today, as the place is dead. “Stop complaining, will you? What do you want at 10:30, Rhys? Do you want a cabaret – or fireworks, perhaps?” she growls.
When he enquires whether Brynmor is coming back, she insists that is her business;
"Drink your coffee and then go!" |
“Just drink your coffee, then go and let me get on with my work – OK?”
Maya has been practising her Welsh |
Delyth and Maya come out of the pharmacy flat, as Maya is practising her Welsh and its pronunciation, and they head towards the deli. Gaynor has been looking at the Food Bank notice in the window
"Looking for some sweet treats" |
and is told that the pair are looking for some sweet treats to go with their favourite box set tonight.
"The L Word – Generation Q' |
Gaynor asks what they will be watching and is told that it is ‘The L Word – Generation Q’, which Gaynor has never heard of,
"Is that a thriller, or sci-fi?" |
and wonders whether it is a thriller or sci-fi.
"More of a relationship drama" |
Delyth describes it as more of a relationship drama and Gaynor cannot resist commenting to Maya,
"Still not speaking Welsh?" |
“Still not speaking Welsh? It’s so important, so don’t give up and work hard.”
Gaynor looks at the notice . . . |
As they go into the deli, Gaynor looks again at the Food Bank notice.
At that moment inside the food bank, Siôn is hoping that one of his customer’s children will enjoy the cereal.
. . . then goes to volunteer |
Gaynor comes upstairs; “The poster in Tamed said you’re looking for volunteers,” she tells him
Siôn is pleased to see her |
and he is pleased to see her.
She is free now and apologises for the misunderstanding the other day in the Deri;
"I was trying to be friendly – not flirting" |
“I was trying to be friendly – and not flirting.”
"Welcome to the team" |
He regards it as water under the bridge and welcomes her to the team.
"I have to take a photo of you" |
“I’ll have to take a photo of you – I want to introduce you to the group on Facebook,” he says, “The community likes to see who’s coming in to help,”
Siôn takes the photo . . . |
Unfortunately as he takes the photo with his phone,
. . . which unwittingly includes Cheryl |
Cheryl, who is coming in through the door, is visible in the background.
"What are you doing here, Gaynor?" |
She greets Gaynor, who announces that she is volunteering;
"In a food bank?" |
“In a Food Bank?” gasps Cheryl, incredulously.
"Helping people without spending money" |
She is told that Gaynor is helping people without spending money.
"I can buy them for you" |
Cheryl picks up a couple of items, but is urged to put them back; “Don’t be silly – I can buy them for you,” objects Gaynor, but is told that Cheryl is not ashamed.
“The Food Bank is here to help people like me who can't afford to live at the moment.” Gaynor continues to protest, and is informed,
"I thought you'd stopped being such a snob!" |
“I thought you’d stopped being such a snob!”
"You said you had a half day" |
Mathew is studying his laptop when Rhys comes in, demanding if he has plans for this afternoon; “You said you had a half day – we should do something exciting,” but Mathew is determined not to go out drinking again.
"I'm going to see Iolo" |
but has plans to go and see Iolo, and Rhys jokes about the building blocks.
Rhys is invited to join them,
"We'll play with Lego when we're old" |
but he answers, “No – we’ll play with Lego when we are old and looking for new hips.
"You're coming with me, right?" |
“I’m going out for a session –and you’re coming with me, all right?” Mathew shakes his head.
Sioned is looking in the mirror . . . |
Sioned is looking in the mirror at the scar from her surgery;
. . . at her scar |
DJ says he had better go to the deli, or Anita will be furious.
"I hope this ICD does its job" |
“I hope this ICD does its job,” says Sioned, and DJ is confident that it will. “I know having this should make me feel better, but I can’t help but worry that it will stop working.”
"The doctors are going to check it" |
He reminds her that the doctors have said they are going to check it regularly and he is concerned about leaving her.
A message arrives |
Then a message arrives on his phone,
"Your new girlfriend in Ireland, is it?" |
and Sioned comments, “Your new girlfriend in Ireland, is it?” He replies that it is Mathew, asking if he wants to go for a pint in the Deri.
"I'll be fine on my own" |
She is adamant that he should go – and he should also return to the deli; she will be fine on her own and her mother will be returning shortly.
She is feeling insecure |
However the Ireland business is still in the back of her mind.
Gaynor enjoyed herself at the Food Bank |
When Gaynor comes back to the house she says that she had fun and shows Cheryl the photo which has been put up on Facebook.
"I hope I don't look too much of a snob" |
“I hope I don’t look like too much of a snob.”
Cheryl is horrified |
As soon as Cheryl sees it, she notices that she is in the background and looks horrified. “Are you on Facebook?” Gaynor asks, when told that she is not, adds, “Pity, I could have tagged you so that your friends could see.”
"Take that picture down – now!" |
Cheryl jumps up and demands, “Take that picture down – just take it off – now!”
"Only Siôn can do that" |
Gaynor cannot do that, as it is the Food Bank group and only Siôn can do so.
"I don't want a photo of me on the bloody Internet!" |
Cheryl immediately grabs her coat and prepares to leave the house, shouting, “I don’t want a photo of me on the bloody Internet!
"Social media is a circus!" |
“Social media is a circus, full of desperate people wanting friends.” Gaynor is shocked by this outburst.
"You should have asked for permission first!" |
Siôn is still working at the Food Bank when Cheryl barges in, shouting that he should have asked for permission first;
She spells out her complaint |
“You can’t put photos of people on Facebook without permission!”
"Gaynor was happy about it" |
He protests that Gaynor was quite happy to have her photo taken.
“No – my face is in it!” she protests,
"You can hardly be seen" |
but he stresses that she is only in the background and can hardly be seen.
"Take the photo down, now!" |
She nevertheless demands that he take the photo down, now.
They wish they were not there . . . |
Both Mathew and DJ have succumbed to Rhys’ persuasion to join him in the Deri; they do not appear very pleased with the situation. Mathew asks how Sioned is, and DJ groans, “I don’t know if she’s all right with me.”
. . . but Rhys is insistent |
Rhys reminds them that they are not there to discuss their domestic problems, but insists that they play truth or dare. He asks Mathew, “Who is best – Tesni or Izzy?” and Mathew wonders what is wrong with him.
While he has gone to visit the toilet,
Don't they both look thrilled? |
Mathew and DJ look at each other.
Cheryl comes in, very flustered |
Then Cheryl comes in, obviously in rather a flustered state.
"Have you seen Cheryl?" |
Gaynor meets Kath in the alley, asking if she has seen Cheryl;
"I hope she's in the Deri" |
“Well, I hope she’s in the Deri – she’s got a shift.”
“Have you got a brother or a sister?” Gaynor enquires, and Kath does not know the relevance of this, but replies that she has a sister. “What sort of relationship have you got – if you don’t mind me asking?” Gaynor goes on.
"I haven't seen her for years" |
Apparently, Kath had not seen her sister for years.
“But do you understand each other?” is the next question, and Kath cannot understand what she is talking about. “I don’t understand Cheryl!” snarls Gaynor, “She got angry with me for no reason at all –
"I think I get on her nerves" |
“I just think I get on her nerves – she thinks I’m an old snob who’s desperate for friends.”
"You had very different upbringings" |
Kath diplomatically suggests that they have had very different upbringings, and Gaynor maintains that Cheryl is much like Kath.
DJ is on his way home to Sioned |
DJ is at the bar, where Cheryl can see, “You don’t fancy a wild party with the boys tonight, then?”
"I wasn't in the mood tonight" |
He replies that he is not in the mood tonight, but was virtually forced to come out by Sioned,
"In the dog-house, are you?" |
and Cheryl realises that he is in the dog-house.
"It turns out different to what you dreamed of" |
“Has your life had to change because of a relationship?” DJ asks her, “And then it turns out different to what you dreamed of?”
She obviously understands; “Then your dream turns into a nightmare?”
"No, Sioned means everything to me" |
but he insists that Sioned means everything to him. Before he can say any more,
Rhys is in high spirits |
Rhys comes and demands three shots of tequila, which, he assures DJ, makes you happy.
DJ has decided to go home,
"It's shame all men are not like him" |
and Cheryl complains, “It’s a shame all men are not like him.”
"I have work to do tomorrow" |
Mathew is not keen to take part in the drinking competition, protesting that he has work tomorrow.
"Why don't we go to MFC?" |
Instead he proposes that they go to MFC and then home, as he is starving.
"And then have a party in the flat" |
Rhys is determined that they will have a party in the flat when they get there.
DJ calls for Sioned |
DJ returns to the farm and calls Sioned’s name;
"I'm so glad you're home" |
she comes in and declares that she is so glad he is home
She hugs him |
before hugging him.
Cheryl is back from her shift |
After her shift Cheryl returns to Maes-y-Deri.
"I hope you're not still angry" |
Gaynor hopes that she is not still angry,
"Yeah, sorry about that" |
and she apologises for that.
"That's Corned Beef Hash pie . . ." |
Corned Beef Hash pie has been prepared for her, as it is Cheryl’s favourite dinner;
". . . you said you had it every Monday" |
“I remember you saying that you and Mam had it every Monday.”
Cheryl is very touched by this and Gaynor asks, “Are sure everything is all right?” She is assured that it is, then when Gaynor has gone to bed,
Cheryl is still very worried |
Cheryl sits down to her dinner, still looking very worried.
"What's 'sexy' in Welsh?" |
Delyth and Maya have reached the end of their film; “What’s ‘sexy’ in Welsh?” Maya asks. Delyth maintains that she has eaten half her body weight in cheesecake.
"I need to get better with my Welsh" |
“I need to get better with my Welsh – I’m not learning quickly enough,” Maya complains,
"You're doing great" |
but is told that she is doing great.
Loud music can be heard |
Just as they decide that it is time for bed, the sound of loud music starts from next door.
Mathew is more interested in his chips |
Rhys is dancing round the flat while Mathew lounges in the armchair, eating chips, and is not interested in dancing.
"Turn it down – it's far too loud!" |
“Turn it down – it’s far too loud!” Mathew shouts,
"Don't be boring, Math" |
but is simply told not to be boring.
"I'm going to do something about this!" |
Delyth in the flat next door is determined to do something about this, growling that it is ridiculous.
"I don't want to be one of those neighbours" |
Maya points out that it is not every night, and that she does not want to be one of those neighbours.
"There's no way we can sleep with this racket!" |
“There’s no way we can sleep with this racket!” moans Delyth,
"Who said anything about sleeping?" |
but Maya has no intention of sleeping.
Finally Mathew has had enough |
In the shop flat Rhys insists that they have one more drink, but Mathew at last turns off the noise and is going to bed.
A chair is knocked over . . . |
In his efforts to stop Mathew leaving the room, a chair is knocked over, on which Rhys’ jacket was hanging,
. . . and some kind of pills fall on the floor . . . |
and a small plastic bag falls from the pocket.
. . . which cases Rhys some concern |
He is quick to pick it up and replace it in the pocket,
Mathew has not seen anything |
but looks very nervous.
Cheryl checks the back door . . . |
During the night, Cheryl is checking that the back door of Maes-y-Deri is secure,
. . . looks anxiously around . . . |
then, after looking nervously around,
. . . checks the front door . . . |
she also checks the front door.
. . . but is still very frightened |
Something is evidently making her very frightened.
