Pancakes for breakfast

Jason is cooking pancakes for breakfast

"Have you got a place on Bake Off?"

and Kelly demands, “Have you got a place on Bake Off?”   He replies that he thought American pancakes would be a nice treat and she assures him that he did not have to.

"I wanted to show you that we're all right"

“I wanted to do something to show you that we’re all right,” he insists,

"Well, I've made you a lunchbox"

then she in turn announces that she has made him a lunchbox while he was in the shower.   He describes her as sweet, and she apologises once more.

"We're cool"

“You don’t need to say anything – we’re cool,” he assures her and at that moment there is a knock at the door.

Anita looks serious

It is Anita, who comes in looking very serious and remarks that something smells nice.   She refuses the offer of a pancake, saying that she is not hungry.

Kelly can immediately tell there is something wrong;

"Mathew showed me something this morning"

“Mathew showed me something this morning,” as Anita takes out her phone,

". . . a TikTok video"

“A TikTok video being shared by the kids at school, apparently, of the fire.   I thought you should see it.”

It has a controversial caption

Jason and Kelly look at the phone and see a video of Kelly and Jinx emerging from the remains of the fire;  there is a caption, in English, reading, ‘Gwern Monk arson attack exposes Cwmderi affair!’

Jason and Kelly are shocked

They look horrified.

"Chicken Roll to go, please"

comes into the deli, where there are quite a few customers, and asks DJ for a chicken roll to go.

DJ is extremely busy

It appears that DJ is rushed off his feet, so Iolo comments that he could go somewhere else if it is a problem.

“Sorry – I don’t know if I’m coming or going today,” DJ sighs, and Iolo remembers that Sioned is coming home today.

"I can't find any cover"

“Yes, I hope so, if I can find time to pick her up – I can’t find any cover.   You’re not free, are you?”

Unfortunately Iolo has a paperwork deadline,

"I wasn't expecting this many customers"

but then Eileen arrives with a basket full of cheese and chutneys.   She is surprised that there are so many customers after the Western Post article.

"All publicity is good publicity"

“As they say, Eileen, all publicity is good publicity,” says DJ, but she maintains that they have been lucky this time.   Iolo leaves with his chicken roll, and hopes that Sioned comes home safely.

"I can't find anyone to cover"

DJ announces that he has not be able to find someone to cover in the deli and Eileen is sure that Sioned will understand.

"How are you, Cai?"

Cai walks along the street past the shop when Siôn approaches and asks how he is;  “Better,” is the reply,

"Sorry for all the fuss"

“Sorry for all the fuss over the last few weeks.”   Siôn is just glad that he is feeling better.   “Thanks to you – and to Ffion – she suggested that I just try to keep busy – and it helps.”

"Do you fancy helping with the promise auction?"

“I was coming to see you – tell me if this is a step too far, but do you fancy helping with the promise auction for the food bank?” asks Siôn

"Yes, why not?"

and Cai is quite receptive to the idea.

"Come over to Y Felin"

“Come over to Y Felin when you’re free and we’ll discuss the plans,” Siôn tells him, and he is very grateful.

"We have to take it down!"

“We have to take it down!” exclaims Kelly, but Jason points out that they do not know who put it up.

"mrcwmderigoss2009"

“It says ‘mrcwmderigoss2009’,” says Anita, but Kelly does not consider that much help.   “And the comments aren’t great either,”

"Well, stop watching it, then!"

so Kelly urges her to stop watching it.

"No-one's going to see it"

Jason naïvely maintains that no-one is going to see it, but Kelly has seen that it has over 5,000 views already.   Anita continues reading, commenting, “This comment says, ‘I fancy the pizza guy’.”

"We have to get it off the Internet!"

This is the last straw for Kelly, who grabs the phone from Auntie Anita and declares, “OK – we have to get it off the Internet!”

Iolo is surprised to see Cai

At Y Felin, Iolo is dealing with his paperwork when Cai visits and is surprised to see him.

"Have I forgotten Dad's birthday?"

Cai is carrying a couple of presents, so Iolo imagines that he may have forgotten his father’s birthday.

“I just want to say sorry for spoiling Greta’s party –

"I hope these will help her forgive Uncle Cai"

“I hope these will help her to forgive Uncle Cai.”   Iolo says that he does not have to apologise, as he was ill.

"You don't understand that when you're six years old"

“Yes, but you don’t understand that when you’re six years old,” Cai stresses.

"The important thing is that you get better"

Iolo insists that the most important thing is that he gets better;  Cai thinks that he can finally see a way through all this.   He sits down with Siôn to discuss the auction.

Sioned is home at last . . .

Eileen has been to collect Sioned from the hospital

. . . and Huwi has made a banner

and she is pleased to see the ‘Welcome Home Sioned’ banner which Huwi-John has made;  apparently he was making it for ages last night and Sioned cannot wait to see him later.   “I can’t tell you how nice it is to be home,” she says.

"There were times I thought you'd never come home"

Eileen is very glad to have her home;  “Because there were times I thought you’d never come home again,” she confesses.

"That's how I felt after your accident"

Sioned says that was exactly the way she felt when her mother was in the accident.

"We don't have the same condition as you"

“Listen, the results have come back from mine and Huwi’s tests and we don’t have the same condition as you,” Eileen tells her, “But I’m not getting any younger.”

"Don't talk like that, Mam"

Sioned reprimands her from talking like that, so Eileen continues, “I’ve made a decision on my will and Penrhewl.”

"I don't have the energy to talk about that"

Sioned protests that she has only just got home and does not have the energy to discuss this now.

"I think you'll like what I have to say"

“Wait a minute, because I think you’ll like what I have to say,” Eileen goes on.

"Can't you contact TikTok?"

As they walk past the shop, Anita suggests, “Can’t you contact TikTok and ask them to take it down?”   Kelly looks across the road at number 9, and replies that she has already filed a police report for slander,

"Hey, Ffion!"

then she notices Ffion by the pharmacy.

"I was going to ring you later"

“I was going to ring you later – about the video,” says Ffion

"Which spiteful kids did it?"

and Kelly simply wants to know which spiteful kids at school did it.   As it is still the summer holiday, it is out of Ffion’s control.

"I can contact the parents"

“Ffion, the longer that video stays up, the more people are spreading lies about Jinx and me!”   Ffion can contact the parents but cannot promise the video will come down.

"You have to sort it, please!"

“You have to sort it, please!” Kelly begs, “It’s not true, right?   I love Jason.”

"There's no smoke without fire"

Ffion suspiciously comments that there is no smoke without fire before she walks away.

"OK, I'll contact them"

At Y Felin, Cai agrees that he will ask MFC, Tamed and Tomos ac Ellis if they can contribute anything;  “But do say if things get too much,” Siôn reminds him.

Iolo brings a cup of tea

Iolo has brought them a cup of tea as Cai says that he is looking forward to getting involved, as it will keep his mind occupied.

"It will stop Dad hassling me

Iolo comments, “Yes, and I’m glad because it will stop Dad hassling me to help him!”

"It might be nice to take Greta camping"

“I was thinking earlier, it might be nice to take Greta camping somewhere – another birthday treat perhaps,” Cai suggests,

but Iolo maintains he has already spoiled her with the presents.   “I understand if you don’t want me to be around her,” Cai adds, but Iolo thinks that it might be too much for him.

“My own children might not want to see me – but I’ve got a family here,” Cai answers.

"Your children will come back"

Siôn reminds him that his children will come back, too;  “You have to let them go sometimes, but they’ll come back.”   Cai hopes that is true.

Kelly arrives at Cysgod y Glyn

Ffion is eating her lunch when the buzzer sounds;  Kelly comes up the stairs and remarks that they are all frazzled.

"I've e-mailed the parents and governors"

“I’ve e-mailed the parents and governors about the video,” Ffion tells her.   Kelly is disappointed that it has not been taken down,

"It's hard to know who's behind it"

and is told, “It’s hard to know who’s behind the account.”

“A pupil, Ffion, 2009, they know Gwern!” snarls Kelly,

"If Diane finds out, my life is over!"

“Honestly, if Diane finds out, my life is over!”   Ffion thinks she means that Diane is on TikTok;  “No, she’s not – but it’s only a matter of time before she hears.”

"Look, they're two very special men"

“Look, they’re two very special men,” Ffion begins,

"I haven't come here to be judged!"

and Kelly says that she has not come there to be judged.   “I’m not here to clear up your mess, either,” is Ffion’s reply, “I’m the first to admit that I’m not perfect – I’ve been in similar situations myself.   Jinx is lovely –

"You made your choice"

“but you made your choice the day you put that ring on your finger.   If I hear anything more, I’ll let you know –

"Just be careful"

“just be careful.”

She continues her lunch

She resumes her lunch.

DJ is preparing to go home . . .

DJ is assembling several items on the counter in the deli, but in his haste,

. . . but one of the meals ends up on the floor

he drops one of the meals on the floor, just as Anita is coming in.

"If only I could clone myself"

“If only I could clone myself!” he exclaims, “I’m trying to prepare dinner for Sioned, but customers keep coming and going.”

Anita asks how Sioned is;

"She'll be all right – if I get home"

“She’ll be all right after I spoil her a little bit – if I get home!” he grumbles.   She wonders why he has not found someone to help him, and he says that he has tried, just until Sioned is well enough to come back, but no-one is interested

"You haven't asked me!"

“You haven’t asked me!” she says,

"You'd be on our feet all day"

and he reminds her she would have to be on her feet all day.

"I could run this place with my eyes closed"

“Look, I could run this place with my eyes closed – I don’t work at APD full-time.   Ieuan is always busy at work, so why not?   It’s better than sitting in front of the telly on my own.”

"Welcome to the team, Anita"

DJ takes an apron from under the counter and welcomes her to the team;  “If you’re free, start now – we can talk terms another time – you can work as many hours as you want.”

"I didn't expect to see you today"

Kelly comes into APD;  Jason was not expecting to see her today and she confesses that she is hiding.

"I don't want to see the judgy looks"

“I don’t want to see the judgy looks – before you say anything, I know I deserve it.

"How can you be fine after what I did?"

“How do you do this, Jase?   How can you be fine after what I did?”

He replies that he is not fine by a long way;  “But I don’t want to throw away what we have, either.”   Kelly describes him as one in a million.

She is not sure about going out

“What if we went out for dinner tonight?” he asks, and she is not sure about that.

"Show them we don't care what people think"

“Come on, now – the Kelly I know doesn’t hide from anyone – show them that we don’t care what people think.   What do you say?”

DJ brings the food back to Penrhewl

DJ returns to Penrhewl and announces to Sioned that he has barley salad, mackerel pâté,

"Chickpea and lentil curry"

then the Chickpea and lentil curry and a fruit salad for pudding.

"I fancy a pizza tonight"

Sioned jokes that she fancies a pizza tonight.

Eileen reminds him Sioned has been living on potatoes and hospital porridge for weeks.

"I never want to feel that way again"

“I never want to feel the way I did when you went off in the ambulance,” he tells Sioned, “I can look after you now – and myself.   They say you can extend your life by more than ten years if you change your diet.”

"Well, if you're just eating barley and lentils . . ."

“Well, if you’re just eating barley and lentils, perhaps life just feels longer,” she replies, but then confirms that she is pulling his leg and insists that they open the bottle of champagne they had for Christmas.

"We have two reasons to celebrate"

"I don't want to throw away what we have'"
“We have two reasons to celebrate – I’m home, and Mam has made a decision on Penrhewl as well.”

"I'm leaving it all to Sioned and Huwi"

Eileen tells him that she has decided to leave Penrhewl, the shop and everything to Sioned and Huwi.   “I know how much Sioned thinks of Huwi – and he worships her.   I’m sure you can sort it all out when the time comes.”

"So no more arguing – for a while"

DJ comments that is good news and predicts there will be no more arguing – for a while at least.

"Will you be all right if I go out?"

At Cysgod y Glyn, Jinx hurries in and asks Cai, “Will you be all right if I go out for a while?”

"I'm not a child, Jinx"

Cai protests that he is not a child;  “But Ffion and Arwen are out for the night – and I know things haven’t been great for you recently.”

Cai makes it quite clear that he will be fine;  he is just looking for somewhere to take Greta camping.

He is looking for solicitors

However the laptop screen in front of him displays a list of solicitors;  he picks up his phone to contact one of them.   “Could I make an appointment to see a solicitor, please?

"To sort out personal matters"

“As soon as possible – to sort out personal matters.”

Kelly is still hesitant

Kelly is rather reluctant to go into the Deri, but Jason assures her that no one is there.   “Jase, I don’t think I can do this,” she tells him.

“Who are you?” he demands, “You’re Kelly Sharleen Francis Evans – and you’re fantastic and I love you, OK?”

"Hello, Auntie Neet"

Then they notice that Anita is sitting there;  she says that someone has had the same idea as her.

"Ive got a new job"

“Come and sit with me – because I’m celebrating!   I've got a new job!”

Jason draws her attention to her job at APD, so she explains that it is part-time at Tamed.

"Uncle Meic would be so proud"

“Ah – Uncle Meic would be so proud, Auntie Neet,” say Kelly.

"Is everything all right now?"

Anita asks if everything is all right between them now, after that stupid video.

Jinx comes in

At that moment Jinx comes in and

"I have to say something, Jase"

Kelly looks awkwardly at him;  “I have to say something,” she says, but Jason is not in the favour of this.

"I expect you've seen the video"

At the bar Kelly assumes that he has seen the video;  “What video?” he asks, and when told that it is on TikTok,

"I barely understand Facebook"

remarks, “I barely understand Facebook – what’s in this video?”

“You and me, coming out of the house after the fire – you know what?   You haven’t seen it, so just forget it, right?”

"The video is down"

Ffion comes in and advises Kelly, “The video is down – it was a girl in year 10 who wanted attention.   I’ll have a word next term and hope that she will have learned her lesson.”

Jason tells Kelly to come back

Jason comes over and Kelly suggests that they should enjoy celebrating with Auntie Neet.

They make a public statement . . .

They express their love for each other by kissing.

. . . which Jinx cannot miss

Jinx looks across from his seat at Jason by the bar.

"I think she promised Huwi chips"

DJ brings the food to the table and it appears that Eileen has gone out, although he insists that there is plenty of food for three.   “I think she’d promised Huwi chips,” says Sioned, “And anyway, I don’t mind.

"It means I can have you to myself"

“It means I can have you to myself.”   She hugs DJ and thanks him for going to so much trouble.   He replies that she is worth it.

"It might be nice to go away somewhere"

“I was thinking, it might be nice to go away somewhere – not now, but in a month or so, when I’m a bit stronger.”

"I'll go and change this shirt"

DJ is going to change his shirt, which smells after cooking all day.

“I was thinking of a nice spa hotel somewhere,” she says,

DJ has been looking at Café Neuf . . .

as she opens the iPad, “Perhaps we can find a last-minute deal.”   Then she discovers on the iPad screen the website of Café Neuf in Ireland

. . . and ferries to Ireland . . .

and also sees that DJ has been looking at ferries there,

. . . which concern her

which makes her very suspicious.

Jason confronts Jinx

Jinx is putting away the sign on the pavement when Jason strides towards him;

"Listen, I don't want any trouble"

“Listen, Jason, I don’t want any trouble,” he says, but Jason considers that they are getting a bit old for that.

"I know you're friends and have history"

“You should have thought about that before chasing my wife!”   Jinx maintains that he is not interested in Kelly.   “I know you’re friends and you have history –

"How stupid do you think I am?"

“but please, come on – how stupid do you think I am?   I knew there was something.”

He will not listen to any protests from Jinx, stressing that he has not finished yet.   “The thing is, in the end, whatever it was, she chose me, didn’t she?   She married me – so you need to stay away now, don’t you?   Do you understand?

"You stay out of our way. all right?"

“From now on you don’t wave at her – you don’t talk to her – you stay out of our way, all right?”

Jinx does not have a lot of choice

Jinx has little choice but to agree to these demands.
