but is told that the bus does not run to where they are going. She argues that she does not have a choice,

and he emphatically reminds her that Maya advised her not to drive until they find out what is wrong with her.

“Listen – I’m all right – I’ve been all right for weeks!” she answers, but he points out she has not seen the specialist yet and perhaps she will get another turn without any warning. “I know in the morning if I’m not well – and I haven’t felt like that in ages,” says Ffion.

She does not want him to go on about it, as she spent all last night persuading Arwen.

“It isn’t fair that I’m spoiling her social life – because of something that might not exist,” Ffion reasons, but he reiterates that he is just asking her not to drive.
“I know my body pretty well,” she responds, but he urges her to just listen to him this time "All right – she'll get a taxi"
and she reluctantly agrees; “All right, fine!” she snaps, “She’ll get a taxi.”

In the deli, DJ has just completed an online advert for more staff, then looks at the item in the Western Post with the headline ‘Local shop fined for selling alcohol to under eighteens’.

When Mathew comes in, DJ grumbles, “I thought that paying the fine would put an end to things.”

Mathew cannot understand why they would write the article and why they had to pick on ‘Tamed’.

DJ simply puts it down to bad luck, and Mathew says that he should have known better, but there is nothing that they can do now. DJ hopes that Sioned does not read the Western Post before he tells her; “I couldn’t tell her over the phone.”

Mathew volunteers the he should tell her, but it is considered that would make matters worse; he would just like coffee, and considers it odd that he is not making it himself. He refuses to have the coffee free; “If I’m staying this side of the counter, I’ll pay my way.”

Cheryl comes in and asks for a cup of tea; “Just normal,” she adds,

A mobile phone sounds with a call from Howard; it is obviously at Bryntirion, as can be recognised by the mug.

When Cheryl has finished her tea, she takes back the cup and notices DJ cutting cheese;

“I know nothing about fancy cheese – I’m used to Dairylea triangles,” she tells him, “But your cup of tea deserves ten out of ten!”

He looks looks across to Mathew, who is still sitting there, and comments, “I’m not complaining, but why are you still here? You might as well still have a job here – haven’t you got work to do?”

Mathew replies that he has a problem with suppliers, and asks how Sioned’s recovery is going.

“She can’t wait to leave,” says DJ, “It shouldn’t be long, I hope.” Mathew is pleased to hear that she is all right.

In the Deri, Kath has just served a customer with a cup of tea and Mark is drinking at the bar;

“What’s wrong?” she asks him and when he says that it is nothing, she demands why he is there. “A pint, at this time? There’s no sense drinking this early,” she reprimands him.

and she answers, “I don’t care if other people drink before lunchtime, but not you.”

Then Cheryl comes in to start her shift;

“I have to go to the kitchen – can you watch the bar for me?” asks Kath. Then she introduces Cheryl to Mark.

“So you’re ‘titch’, are you? Kath’s son?” says Cheryl, and Mark replies that he would not reveal that to anyone. “Your mother’s a kind woman – and not just because she gave me a job. Fetch one of those bar stools for me, will you?”

Ffion has driven to the kart track without incident and tells Arwen to phone her when she needs picking up; “Be careful – no speeding round the corners.”

Arwen seems very reluctant to get out of the car, so her mother continues, “I was fine driving here, and I’ll be fine driving home – exactly like when I come to fetch you.

“I’d be ready for a pint if I’d been on my feet since 4:00am,” says Cheryl, as she settles down on her stool behind the bar. Mark emphasises that people do not understand that we are not all on the same clock.

“He’s been left a house in Gwyneth’s will – he’s landed on his feet, hasn’t he?” Mark continues,

and Cheryl does not know if she would want the house, considering what Gwyneth did. Mark agrees that he would not want to live there either, “But a house is a house – they don’t grow on trees!”
Cheryl says, “It’s nuts that I’m living in your old house.”

Kath tells them that she is popping upstairs while it is quiet. Mark reminisces that he spent the best part of his life living in Maes-y-Deri. He is informed that Gaynor has nicked the big room in the front and she is left with a boy’s room.

“The one at the top of the stairs? That was my room!” he smiles, and when she refers to the retro wallpaper, he insists that it was not retro when it was put up. “That wallpaper has seen a lot, I’m telling you.”

“I thought I could smell ‘weed’ in there,” she informs him, and he admits to not being a saint. “I’m glad to hear it – they’re boring!” Cheryl tells him.

Mark and Cheryl are still chatting in the Deri as she clears up the empty cups and glasses. “Oh, is that the time?” exclaims Mark, “I have to pick Gabriel up.”
