"Yes, of course, everything's fine"

DJ is speaking on the phone;  “Yes, of course, everything’s fine, Sioned, honestly – 

"I'll phone you later"

“I’ll phone you later.”   

"He fears her reaction"

He looks rather worried about deceiving her.

"I think she'd spend the whole holiday in bed"

At Cysgod y Glyn, Ffion is calling to Arwen;  she remarks to Jinx, “I think she’d spend the entire holidays in bed if she could.”   

"You were exactly like that"

He replies that she was exactly like that, but she insists that she was not.   

"She's supposed to be going karting"

“She’s supposed to be going karting with her friends today.”

"On the bus?"

“How will she go – on the bus?” he asks, 

"I don't have a choice, Jinx"

but is told that the bus does not run to where they are going.   She argues that she does not have a choice, 

"Maya advises you not to drive"

and he emphatically reminds her that Maya advised her not to drive until they find out what is wrong with her.

"I've been all right for ages"

“Listen – I’m all right – I’ve been all right for weeks!” she answers, but he points out she has not seen the specialist yet and perhaps she will get another turn without any warning.   “I know in the morning if I’m not well – and I haven’t felt like that in ages,” says Ffion.

"That doesn't mean it won't happen"

He insists, “That doesn’t mean it won’t happen.”   

"I spent all night persuading Arwen"

She does not want him to go on about it, as she spent all last night persuading Arwen.   

"She's more sensible than her mother!"

“Well, she’s more sensible than her mother!” is his reaction.

“It isn’t fair that I’m spoiling her social life – because of something that might not exist,” Ffion reasons, but he reiterates that he is just asking her not to drive.

“I know my body pretty well,” she responds, but he urges her to just listen to him this time 

"All right – she'll get a taxi"

and she reluctantly agrees;  “All right, fine!” she snaps, “She’ll get a taxi.”

DJ looks at the Western Post 

In the deli, DJ has just completed an online advert for more staff, then looks at the item in the Western Post with the headline ‘Local shop fined for selling alcohol to under eighteens’.

DJ wants more staff

When Mathew comes in, DJ grumbles, “I thought that paying the fine would put an end to things.”   

"Why did they have to pick on Tamed?"

Mathew cannot understand why they would write the article and why they had to pick on ‘Tamed’.

"Bad luck, I suppose"

DJ simply puts it down to bad luck, and Mathew says that he should have known better, but there is nothing that they can do now.    DJ hopes that Sioned does not read the Western Post before he tells her;  “I couldn’t tell her over the phone.”

"Do you want me to tell her?"

Mathew volunteers the he should tell her, but it is considered that would make matters worse;  he would just like coffee, and considers it odd that he is not making it himself.   He refuses to have the coffee free;  “If I’m staying this side of the counter, I’ll pay my way.”

"A cup of 'normal' tea, please"

Cheryl comes in and asks for a cup of tea;  “Just normal,” she adds, 

"I heard you got done"

then picks up the paper, remarking, “I heard you got done – never mind, we all make mistakes.   

"How much would a half-page advert cost you?"

“How much would a half-page advert cost you?” which makes DJ laugh.

Howard tries to contact Jason . . .

A mobile phone sounds with a call from Howard;  it is obviously at Bryntirion, as can be recognised by the mug.   

. . . but he does not want to answer

Eventually Jason picks up the phone but does not answer it.

DJ is cutting cheese

When Cheryl has finished her tea, she takes back the cup and notices DJ cutting cheese;  

"I'm used to Dairylea triangles"

“I know nothing about fancy cheese – I’m used to Dairylea triangles,” she tells him, “But your cup of tea deserves ten out of ten!”

"Haven't you got work to do?"

He looks looks across to Mathew, who is still sitting there, and comments, “I’m not complaining, but why are you still here?   You might as well still have a job here – haven’t you got work to do?”   

"How is Sioned getting?"

Mathew replies that he has a problem with suppliers, and asks how Sioned’s recovery is going.

"She can't wait to leave"

“She can’t wait to leave,” says DJ, “It shouldn’t be long, I hope.”   Mathew is pleased to hear that she is all right.

Kath has sold a cup of tea

In the Deri, Kath has just served a customer with a cup of tea and Mark is drinking at the bar;  

"What's wrong?"

“What’s wrong?” she asks him and when he says that it is nothing, she demands why he is there.   “A pint, at this time?   There’s no sense drinking this early,” she reprimands him.

"That's not the way to run a pub, Mam"

He maintains that is not the way to run a pub, 

"I don't care if other people drink before lunchtime"

and she answers, “I don’t care if other people drink before lunchtime, but not you.”

"I've done a 12-mile round, Mam!"

He reminds her that he has been up since 4:00am and done a 12-mile round.   

"Am I late?"

Then Cheryl comes in to start her shift;  

"Can you watch the bar for me?"

“I have to go to the kitchen – can you watch the bar for me?” asks Kath.   Then she introduces Cheryl to Mark.

"So you're 'Titch' are you?"

“So you’re ‘titch’, are you?   Kath’s son?” says Cheryl, and Mark replies that he would not reveal that to anyone.   “Your mother’s a kind woman – and not just because she gave me a job.   Fetch one of those bar stools for me, will you?”

Mark fetches her a stool

Mark does as instructed, commenting that he does not understand some of the words she uses;  

"I come from Wrexham, not Outer Mongolia!"

“Don’t be silly – I come from Wrexham, not Outer Mongolia!” she laughs.

The karting circuit

Ffion has driven to the kart track without incident and tells Arwen to phone her when she needs picking up;  “Be careful – no speeding round the corners.”

Arwen is reluctant

Arwen seems very reluctant to get out of the car, so her mother continues, “I was fine driving here, and I’ll be fine driving home – exactly like when I come to fetch you.  

"Come on – I haven't got all day"

“Come on, Arwen – I haven’t got all day.”

"I'm worried about you, Mam"

Arwen refuses to get out of the car, insisting, “I’m worried about you.”   

"We'e been through this, Arwen"

Ffion reminds her that they have been through all this before;  “We’re here now – it’s silly if you come home with me.   

"Go and enjoy yourself"

“Go and enjoy yourself.”

At last Arwen agrees that she will get out of the car, but warns her mother to be careful.”   

Ffion is pleased with herself

She is told to phone when she is ready to come home, and Ffion looks quite confident.

Howard phones again

Jason is outside APD the next time Howard attempts to contact him, and Jinx is approaching;  “Thanks for agreeing to see the house – 

"I'm keen to get the place shipshape . . ."

“I’m keen to get the place shipshape – 

". . . but I'm not sure if I'm doing the right thing"

“but I’m not sure if I’m doing the right thing.   There we are – nothing’s ever simple and I’ll have to live with my decision.”

"I have to go, Jinx"

Jason has not said anything up to now and maintains that he needs to go.   

"Don't worry, Howard, I'll be there"

When Jinx has gone into The Pizza Place, he phones Howard back.   “Sorry, I was busy earlier – don’t worry, Howard, I’ll be there.”

He sees Kelly approaching

Then he turns to see Kelly approaching from the other end of the street;  ‘I’m depending on those tips tonight – 

"You'd better not let me down!"

“you’d better not let me down!” he tells Howard, before ending the call.

"We're not all on the same clock"

“I’d be ready for a pint if I’d been on my feet since 4:00am,” says Cheryl, as she settles down on her stool behind the bar.   Mark emphasises that people do not understand that we are not all on the same clock.

"All we heard about is no money available"

She groans that all we hear about these days are crises and no money available;  

"Except for Jinx, of course"

“Except for Jinx, of course,” interrupts Mark, 

"What – the pizza bloke?"

and she assumes that he is the ‘pizza bloke’.

“He’s been left a house in Gwyneth’s will – he’s landed on his feet, hasn’t he?” Mark continues, 

"I don't know if I would want the house"

and Cheryl does not know if she would want the house, considering what Gwyneth did.   Mark agrees that he would not want to live there either, “But a house is a house – they don’t grow on trees!”

Cheryl says, “It’s nuts that I’m living in your old house.”   

"I'm popping upstairs"

Kath tells them that she is popping upstairs while it is quiet.   Mark reminisces that he spent the best part of his life living in Maes-y-Deri.   He is informed that Gaynor has nicked the big room in the front and she is left with a boy’s room.

"That was my room!"

“The one at the top of the stairs?   That was my room!” he smiles, and when she refers to the retro wallpaper, he insists that it was not retro when it was put up.   “That wallpaper has seen a lot, I’m telling you.”

"I thought I could smell 'weed' in there"

“I thought I could smell ‘weed’ in there,” she informs him, and he admits to not being a saint.   “I’m glad to hear it – they’re boring!” Cheryl tells him.

Ffion appears to be in a very good humour

Jinx finds Ffion at the desk with her laptop and asks, “What’s put a smile on your face?”   She replies that she likes seeing her daughter enjoying herself.

"I think those episodes were temporary"

“I’m starting to think these episodes were temporary,” she goes on, “I’m still going to find out what’s wrong, but I feel a lot more positive now.”

"You've been driving, haven't you?"

He realises that she has been driving, and reminds her that she promised, but is told, “I had no problems and Arwen had a great time.   She wouldn’t have done it if I’d listened to you.   

"It was easy"

“It was easy and Arwen would have been stuck in here all summer.”

"You were totally irresponsible!"

Jinx insists, “You can justify it all you like, but you were totally irresponsible!”   She argues that she does not need his permission to drive – or his opinion on how to be a mother.   

"What I say counts for nothing, anyway!"

“No, you’re right – I’ll stay out of it from now on,” he concedes, “What I says counts for nothing, anyway!”

These two seem to be getting on very well

Mark and Cheryl are still chatting in the Deri as she clears up the empty cups and glasses.   “Oh, is that the time?” exclaims Mark, “I have to pick Gabriel up.”

"That's Dani's job, Mark!"

His mother insists that is Dani’s job and thanks Cheryl for cheering up Mark;  

"You'll make a good barmaid"

“You’ll make a good barmaid – you’ve got a good ear.”   

"For putting a smile on Mark's face"

She slips Cheryl some money, which she describes as a tip for putting a smile on our Mark’s face.

"I don't want that!"

It is immediately returned as Cheryl will not take it just for talking;  “Anyway, I enjoyed our Mark’s company, thanks – why do you sound so surprised?   I didn’t say I wanted to marry him – I just like his humour!”   

Kath is optimistic about this

Kath thinks that something may be developing here.

Jason is deep in thought

Jason is looking very thoughtful at Bryntirion;  

He looks at the photo of his son

he looks at the picture of him and Ifan on the fridge and hears the door open.   

"How about lasagne?"

Kelly comes in, suggesting, “Dinner tonight – how about lasagne and watching an episode of that zombie thing?”

"Sorry – I'm meeting my sponsor, Craig"

He apologises that he cannot tonight as he is meeting his sponsor, Craig.   

"What's wrong?"

“Right – what’s wrong?” she immediately asks, 

Jason does not answer

and when he tries to reply that it is nothing, she continues, “You weren’t yourself on the phone earlier – 

"Spill!   What's happened?   Jason?"

“so spill!   What’s happened?   Jason?”

"I know you're not happy"

“I know you’re not happy,” he begins, and she says that of course she is happy.   “About the house, I mean,” he adds, and she admits that is no secret.

"I accept it's really difficult for you, OK?"

“But do you know what?   I accept that it’s really difficult for you, OK?”   

He insists that he only wants her to have what she deserves, and she assures him, “Jase, I’m so happy, OK?   Why are you putting this pressure on yourself?

"I'm scared of losing you"

“Because I’m scared of losing you,” he replies, and she is astonished.

“OK, listen – our living arrangements are not ideal – right?   But do you know what?   I can handle it,” she tells him, but he still maintains that she deserves better.

"If you're both here, I'm happy – end of!"

“You are my home – you and Ifan – if you’re both here, I’m happy – end of!” she stresses, 

"Are you still going to see your sponsor?"

“Are you still going to see your sponsor?”   

"I think I can see Craig some other time"

Jason thinks that he can see Craig some other time.   

"That lasagne won't cook itself"

“OK, good – cos you know what?   That lasagne won’t cook itself – come on, chop, chop!” 

Kelly kisses him

and she kisses him.

"Only one pint, Math"

In the Deri, DJ insists that he is only having one pint, as he has to go and feed the dogs before Eileen and Huwi come home.   He takes a swig and declares, “That’s exactly what I needed.”

"Here they are – the criminals!"

Then Kath walks in and announces, “Here they are, the criminals!   

"First rule – don't sell beer to children!"

“First rule of this business – don’t sell beer to children!”   Mathew corrects her, that it was wine, but she goes on, “Doesn’t matter if it was a sherry trifle – you always ask for ID.”

"I think we've all learnt our lesson now"

DJ thinks they have all learnt their lesson now, and groans that the sooner Sioned gets back, the better.   

"You're a good friend, Math"

“I am grateful for the help – you’re a good friend, Math.”

"A better friend than a Tamed manager"

“A better friend than a Tamed manager,” Mathew quips.

Jason is looking guilty

Jason is looking guilty as he stares at his phone;  Kelly cannot find the lasagne sheets and he directs her to the cupboard by the fridge.   

"I'll go to the shop to get some more"

She does not find any there, so will go to the shop to get some.

"I need to pick something up from APD"

“I need to pick up something from APD, so I’ll come with you,” he says.   

A quick call to Howard

While Kelly nips up to the bathroom, he makes a quick call to Howard.

"Sorry, I'll have to cancel tonight"

“Sorry, I’ll have to cancel tonight – I can’t make it.   Yes, I appreciate that – and thanks – 

"I have to go now"

“listen, I have to go now!” and he ends the call.   He breathes a sigh of relief.

"He didn't sign up to run a farm and a deli on his own"

When DJ has left the Deri, Cheryl says, “Poor thing – he didn’t sign up to run a farm and a deli all alone.”   

"It's scary, isn't it?"

Mathew informs her that Sioned should be back home soon;  “It’s scary, isn’t it?   That something like that could happen out of the blue,” she goes on.

Mathew is just glad that there were plenty of people around at the time;  

"Gaynor told me about Izzy"

Cheryl realises that this is bringing back memories of Izzy, who Gaynor has told her about;  “It was a shock for everyone,” she says, 

"I can't believe it was almost two years ago"

and Mathew cannot believe that it was almost two years ago.

"We'd just sorted out a house together"

“We’d just sorted out a house together – I was so excited to live with her.   Sometimes I can’t help but think how different life would be, if she were still here.”

"I feel as if I've lived several different lives"

Cheryl feels as if she has lived several different lives;  “This Cheryl is different to the one who grow up in Wrexham, believe it or not.”   

When he says that sometimes he feels guilty, she advises him, “No, you have to move on in order to cope – nobody can resent that. 

  

"I'm gutted that I never met her"

“You’ll never forget her, will you?   I’m gutted I never met her – she sounds fab.   

"She wasn't afraid to give her mother some lip"

“I hear that she wasn’t afraid to give her mother some lip.”   Mathew imagines that they would get on well together, and she will get him another pint.

Kelly comes out of the shop . . .

Jinx is loading a pizza delivery into the waiting moped when Kelly comes out of the shop with her lasagne sheets;  

. . . and Jinx calls to her

he calls her across and asks if Jason is OK.   

"Jason's been acting oddly"

“He’s been acting oddly since that business with the house.”

"It's not you, Jinx"

Kelly assures him that it is not him;  “Know what I mean?   He’s just worried about getting us a mortgage.”

Jinx reveals that he is tempted to say that they can have Gwyneth’s house, 

"You're doing the right thing, keeping it"

but Kelly reassures him, “You’re doing the right thing, keeping it – you won’t regret it.”

Jason locks up APD . . .

Jason is just locking up APD;  they bid Jinx goodbye 

. . . and they walk along the street, hand in hand

and walk off along the High Street, hand in hand.
