Mark has not slept well . . .

Mark awakes after an uncomfortable night on the floor in the garage;  

. . . and is woken by that vicious dog

he is frightened to see the dog attempting to get to him.   He peers at Tedi, demanding, “Why are you looking so innocent there now?   

"I nearly lost my arm because of you!'

“I almost lost my arm because of you – why do you and your type hate postmen so much, eh?   Racist, that’s what you are!”

"Oh – it's breakfast time!"

Garry comes in, calling his name, and Mark assumes that breakfast is on its way;  he is asked if he has slept well, and replies, “A coffee and a bacon bap would have been nice.”

"Tedi doesn't like coffee"

“Tedi doesn’t like coffee,” Garry informs him, and Mark growls that the dog prefers to take chunks out of him.   Garry will now have to stay with the dog, as he intends to go to the shop;  

"I need some fresh air"

he is fed up with being there and  needs some fresh air.

Once again, Garry reminds him he is not doing it for nothing, and asks whether he wants brown sauce.   

Mark is still very wary

“Don’t be long – I’m starving!” Mark complains, as Tedi is eyeing him.

"I'm so jealous, Guto"

At number 10, Tesni is just finishing a conversation with her brother in South America, via the laptop;  “I’m so jealous!” he tells him, “We’ll talk soon.”   

"It would be great to join them . . ."

She comments to Aled, “It would be so great to just book a flight and join them – Guto’s so lucky to be going travelling – and you, going to London.”

He replies, “You could go if you really wanted to,” 

". . . but a bout of colitis is bad enough here"

but she considers that a bout of colitis is bad enough there, but away from home would be a different matter.

"Aren't you worried you'll be lonely?"

Anyway, she insists that she is happy with Siôn, and asks Aled, “Aren’t you worried you’ll be lonely without any friends there?”   

"I'm strong enough to stand on my own two feet"

He says that thanks to her he is now strong enough to stand on his own two feet;  he cannot live there and see Tyler every day after everything that has happened.

"Why did he bring that up again?"

Tesni wonders why Tyler brought the matter up again;  “I’d like to tell him that everything he said was rubbish!” declares Aled, 

"I wanted it – I chased him!"

“Because I wanted to be in a relationship with him – I chased him.”   

"Perhaps you should tell Tyler that"

She suggests that he should tell Tyler that, and it might help him to move on.

Iolo is leaving for work

Garry is at number 7, preparing the bacon bap for Mark, while Iolo is about to leave for work;  he shouts upstairs to Tyler, “I’ll see you in the Deri later.”

Garry warns him, “You’d have a better chance of having a chat in a morgue!” 

"He's trying to make sense of what happened"

but Iolo defends him, arguing that he is trying to make sense of what happened between him and Aled.   

"No justification for taking advantage of a schoolboy!"

“Sense?” Garry sneers, “There’s no justification for taking advantage of a schoolboy!   I don’t understand what you want to be with him.”

"Life's more fun with him than without him"

Iolo maintains that life is more fun with him than without him.   Then Garry’s phone rings.   He advises Dani that there is still no sign of Tedi, but she should not worry;  

"All right, Dani – I'll come over now"

“All right – I’ll come over now.”   

"I could get Tyler to help you"

Iolo has the idea that if Garry wants help to find him, it would be a good way to get Tyler out of bed, but this is dismissed by Garry, who says he can sort it out himself.

Iolo is given a bacon bap for breakfast

Garry leaves the bap he has made for himself, telling Iolo he can have it, and leaves for the garage;  

"Ooh – is that for me?"

however, before Iolo can take advantage of this offer, Tyler comes downstairs.   “Is that for me?” he asks, and Iolo gives it to him.

Eileen carries out a taste test

At Penrhewl, Eileen is tasting (rather unhygienically with her finger) couple of Jaclyn’s recipes;  she describes the avocado and fig as very exotic.   

"Is that how you bribed Tesni to come home?"

“Is that how you bribed Tesni to come home?”   Jaclyn replies that it was her decision, 

"I hope she'll finish things with Siôn"

but it is hoped she will see sense and finish things with Siôn.

"The trick is not to put too much pressure on them"

Eileen advises that the trick is to know the boundary between persuasion and putting too much pressure on them;  “Not that I’m an expert.”   

"I saw a rat by the back door"

DJ comes in with the news that he saw a rat by the back door;  this frightens Jaclyn, and she is determined to go home until they catch it, 

"Keep quiet about it, mind"

but she is urged to keep quiet about it or no-one will want Cae Glas produce.

"You'll have to keep an eye on Huwi"

DJ will put down a trap and some poison, but warns Eileen to keep an eye on Huwi.   “I don’t know what I’d do if you weren’t here,” she sighs, 

"You might as well come back to live here"

“You might as well come back to live here – I’m serious.”   

"You're just scared of mice, Eileen"

He presumes that she is just scared of mice, and she confesses, “I can’t deny it – but it would make things easier for you – you’re here all the time, anyway.”

"You won't find Tedi, sitting here"

Wilko is having a cup of coffee in the Deri flat, and Garry reprimands him, “You’re not going to find Tedi, drinking coffee here.”   

The DI has been told that Garry was out looking;  “I’ve been out there for hours!” he alleges.

The police have not found the dog yet

The police have been keeping an eye on local road cameras but have had no success so far.   Dani worries, “If he’s been taken abroad, I’ll never see him again!”   The DI says he will keep in touch and leaves the flat.

"I disn't want to sat anything in front of him, but . . ."

Garry tells her, “I didn’t want to say anything in front of him, but I’ve seen photos on Facebook, and a family in Llanarthur have just had a dog exactly like Tedi.”   

"Why didn't you say anything?"

She demands why he did not say anything, 

"Tedi will be back in no time – trust me"

and he maintains, “Just leave it with me, OK?   I’ve got someone keeping an eye on the place – Tedi will be back in no time – you’ll see – trust me.”

"I promise not to be so awkward"

She seems to have been convinced by this, and thanks him;  “I really appreciate it, and I promise not to be so awkward from now on – it’s my way of saying sorry.”   

Garry's plan is working like a charm

Just the reaction for which he had been hoping, and he replies that the important thing is finding Tedi now.

"What do you want on your toast?"

At Llwyncelyn, Hywel asks Gaynor what she wants on her toast, but of course she is too busy studying the ‘crypto tracker’ to take any notice.   “Dinosaur droppings or what?”   She replies that would be lovely.

"You've had your head in that thing all morning!"

“You’ve had your head in that thing all morning – are you listening to me?” he exclaims.   

"My investment is up 2% . . ."

 solemnly declares that her investment is up 2%, which does not excite him at all.

". . . that's better than the interest you get in a bank"

“That’s better than the interest you get in a bank for a year – in just a few hours!” she enthuses, but he points out that her money is safer in a bank, as the value of digital currency can halve overnight.   

"I always thought you were a bit of a chancer"

“Hywel Llywelyn, I always thought you were a bit of a chancer,” she moans.

He is now becoming angry;  

"What kind of idiot invests everything in one pot?"

“What kind of idiot invests everything in one pot?   You need a wide-ranging portfolio!”   Gaynor insists that crypto is the future, as it is not controlled by banks or countries, 

"You need some advice about this!"

but he is quite adamant that she needs some advice about this.

"I thought you said you weren't going to interfere"

“I thought you said you weren’t going to interfere any more,” she reminds him, “I might be a millionaire by the end of the year.”   He shouts that she has a lot to learn about this;  

"You don't realise how much risk you're taking"

does she not realise how much risk she has taken, gambling every penny she has.   

"This is just pure jealousy"

She dismisses this as pure jealousy on his part.

Garry opens the door . . .

Garry reaches the garage with Mark’s breakfast, but when he opens the office door, 

. . . and the imprisoned dog escapes . . .

Tedi makes a break for freedom.   Both he and Mark attempt to catch the dog, but not before Dani has seen him;  

. . . right into the arms of Dani

she is overjoyed, asking him where he has been.   

"I've been so worried about you"

“I’ve been so worried about you,” then she turns and asks where they found him.

Their explanations do not tally . . .

Unfortunately, they both point in different directions and she comes to the conclusion, “He’s been with you, has he?   

. . . so Dani concludes that they took him

“You stole him and pretended to help look for him!”   Wilko is just approaching his house and asks if everything is all right.

"He stole Tedi!   Go on – arrest him!"

“No, actually – he stole Tedi!   Go on – arrest him!”   

Garry cannot see a way out of this one

Garry looks awkwardly at the DI.

Aled wants to make things clear

Aled arrives at number 7, and tells Tyler, “Look, I just wanted to make sure things were clear about what happened between us.”   

"I'm not proud of the way I treated you"

Tyler admits that he is not proud of the way he treated Aled.

"I did the chasing!"

“Don’t be so high and mighty – I did the chasing,” Aled insists, 

"But I took advantage of that"

but Tyler says that he took advantage of that.   “Do you want me to forgive you, so that you have a clear conscience – look, I’ve been used by people all my life – 

"But this time, I used you!"

“but this time, I used you!   I targeted you – I knew you couldn’t say no – you’re the victim, not me!   And as a result your marriage ended, you got sacked and people called you a paedophile.”

"Your future is what's important now"

Tyler answers that he has got used that, but it is Aled’s future that is important now.   

"Do I look like someone who's fallen to pieces?"

“Do I look like someone who has fallen to pieces?” Aled demands, “No – so there’s no need for you or anyone else to worry about me, all right?”

Tyler just wants them to be friends;  “There’s no danger of that, because I’m moving to London, tomorrow,” Aled announces, “A new start, you know – and I can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to it.”  

"Leave young boys alone from now on"

He is about to leave the house, when he pauses, adding, “Before I go, I just want you to do one thing me – promise to leave young boys alone from now on – because it’s obvious what you’re doing with those keep fit videos!   They’re a massive hit with the sixth form boys.”

"There's nothing wrong with the videos"

Tyler protests that there is nothing wrong with the videos, but is told, “You’re showing off!”   Tyler maintains that if that were true, Rhys would have stopped him.   

"Rhys is a perv, too!"

“Rhys is a perv, too – the two of you are always flirting.”

"Keeping the customers is important"

Tyler maintains that keeping customers happy is important for the business, but Aled is adamant that he is grooming those boys;  “The signs are all there – I should know!   You’ve got a weakness for young boys – I don’t want other boys getting caught in the same situation I was in.”

"I'm not a danger to anyone!"

Tyler snarls at him, “I’m not a danger to anyone – I’ve learned my lesson!”   

"Prove it, before you get into more trouble"

He is invited to prove it before he gets himself into more trouble, and Aled leaves the house.

"You gave Mami a fright"

As she sits outside the Deri in the sunshine, with a cup of coffee, Dani informs Tedi, “I’m not going to let you out of my sight – you gave Mami a fright.”   

"What's the point of stealing a dog?"

Iolo wonders what is the point of stealing a dog and she replies, “I don’t know – revenge for giving him a hard time about the divorce?”

A crestfallen Garry comes round the corner

Garry comes round the corner, so Iolo comes to the conclusion that Wilko has released him.   “Why did you do it?   You know how much I love him,” Dani demands, and he says that she thinks more of that dog than her children.   

"I hope they throw away the key!"

She tells him, “I hope they throw away the key!   I’m not going to forgive you for this, Garry!”   He dejectedly walks away.

A frosty atmosphere at Llwyncelyn 

At Llwyncelyn, Hywel and Gaynor sit opposite each other at the meal table 

"I've never criticised your business plans"

and she remarks, “I’ve never criticised your business plans – even when you’ve made a mess of things – buying Pwll Bach under Eileen’s nose and then selling it.”

"I didn't lose any money, did I?"

He points out that he did not lose any money, and she complains, “You make it sound as if I’ve lost everything.”   

"There's a real chance of that happening, Gaynor"

He warns that there is a real chance of that happening, and she will not have a penny to leave to Lois.   

"She'll be getting the house"

“She will be getting this house – she can’t expect to have a pile of money as well,” Gaynor answers.

"What about Rhys and Esther?"

“And what about Rhys and Esther?” he wants to know;  

"They are your children, Hywel"

she makes the point that they are his children.   

“Gaynor, Esther sees you as her mother,” he says, and it is pointed out to him that she has been very fair with her under the circumstances.

“I’ve never complained about bringing her up, but I don’t see her as my child,” Gaynor informs him, 

He is shocked by her attitude

and he looks shocked by this.

"Are you sure you don't mind me moving out?"

In the shop flat, DJ hopes that Mathew will not mind his moving out;  

"It looks as if you've already made your decision"

“It looks as if you’ve already made your decision,” Mathew replies.   

"It's not practical, going back and forth"

DJ says that it is not practical, going back and forth to Penrhewl, especially when the cows are calving.

"There will be no-one to steal my sandwich spread!"

Mathew assures him that he will be all right;  “At least, there will be no-one here to steal my sandwich spread!   And all these wild nights had to stop.”   DJ is concerned whether he will be all right on his own, and Mathew concedes that DJ has his own life to live as well.

"Eileen is going to tell Sioned"

As DJ picks up his bags, Mathew asks if Sioned knows about the new lodger, and is told that Eileen will advise her.   

"Are you sure that's a good idea?"

“Are you sure it’s a good idea to moving without her knowing?” Mathew enquires, and DJ says that Eileen is eager for him to be there.

“I’m not going to turn down the chance to be closer to Sioned,” he adds.   

"No-one will be more pleased than me"

If this works out for DJ, no one will be more pleased than Mathew.   He is encouraged to make the most of every day.

Hywel is still very concerned

Hywel is looking very concerned 

"Don't take what I said the wrong way"

and Gaynor tells him, “Don’t take what I said earlier the wrong way – you know I think the world of Esther.”   

"Don't you feel some kind of connection?"

He is worried that she does not feel a kind of connection between them.   

"I've never begrudged spending a penny on her"

“I put a roof over her head, I’ve given her food, I’ve bought her clothes – I’ve never begrudged spending a penny on her.”

"We need to plan long-term for her"

He insists, “We need to plan long-term for Esther, financially,” but she protests she cannot be expected to do that, any more than she expects him to provide for Lois.

“Who knows where Esther will be when she’s 18?   

"Perhaps I'll hardly know her"

“Perhaps I’ll hardly know her,” she goes on.   

He emphasises that they are a family;  “You, me, Lois, Rhys and Esther!” but Gaynor does not know for how long that will be.   “Are you saying that there’s no future for you and me?” he exclaims, and she points out that nobody knows what is around the corner, especially her.

"What's happened to you, Gaynor?"

“What’s happened to you, Gaynor?   You’ve become cold and selfish!” he moans, but she protests that she is not selfish, but is simply thinking about herself, and storms off upstairs.

Eileen is sticking her finger into some more food

At the farm, Eileen has prepared a special dinner to welcome DJ back (and once again she dips her finger in to taste it).   “No-one can work on an empty stomach,” she tells him, adding some pepper.   

"It's nice to cook some old-fachioned food"

“It’s nice to cook some old-fashioned food – Sioned starts a new diet every Monday – it’s impossible to keep up with her.”

He has brought Eileen a bottle

He has brought Eileen a bottle to say thank you;  “When I told Huwi-John that uncle DJ was coming back, 

"Huwi-John's started making a list"

he started listing the things he wants to do with you – flying the kite for one.”   DJ says that he is lucky, growing up on a farm, 

"But I'm so busy"

but she cannot give him enough attention because she is so busy.

He says that she is doing everything for him, and would have to sell up otherwise;  

"I've got a present for Huwi"

he will go up and wake the boy because he has a present for him.

Garry is at a very low ebb . . .

Garry is looking very depressed at number 7 when Iolo comes in through the back door;  

. . . which is not helped by Iolo's sarcasm

“A bit embarrassing,” he comments, “Getting charged with stealing a little dog like Tedi.   A Rottweiler or Pit Bull would have been better.”

"It's not funny – I'm in court next week!"

Garry grumbles that it is not funny – he is in court next week;  “The lesson here is not to ask Mark Jones to look after a dog!”

Iolo is surprised to hear that Mark was part of the scheme;  

"Oh, Gar, you've gone down in the world"

“Oh, Gar, you’ve gone down in the world if you’re asking Mark Jones for help.   I bet Wilko and his cronies are laughing at you as well.”   

Garry is convinced that the DI is out to get him;  “He thinks I’m part of this gang that’s stealing dogs.”   

"I'm not that desperate!"

Noticing Iolo’s expression, he adds, – “Don’t be stupid – I’m not that desperate!”

"Persuade Dani it was a prank that went wrong"

Iolo suggests that his only hope is to persuade Dani to say it was a prank that went wrong, but Garry replies that she would never agree;  “This is completely out of control.”   

Garry has no-one to blame but himself

Iolo agrees with this evaluation and describes Garry as a silly fool, who has no-one to blame but himself.
